I liked the short walk to the city center to where most of the restaurants were. It was also nice to have free parking at the hotel.
Great location. The staff was very nice and informative. We'd stay there again.
great location to the walled city breakfast was awful, room very small
Friendly staff. Comfortable and quiet room. Very clean. Excellent buffet breakfast. Good location just outside city walls and five minutes walk from the station.
The staff were very friendly and helpful
Friendly personnel, good breakfast, good location, value for money, good and friendly service, free parking
The staff were very helpful and friendly would have liked a hot breakfast
the staff and room were very good
The breakfast, and being able to borrow bikes for free
Very nice staff, excellent breakfast in a lovely room. Although not applicable to us, ease of access with a car was a plus.
Convenient to all the major sights and restaurants within easy walking distance. We walked too and from the train station...although easier to go to the station than initially to the hotel. You will have to carry bags up the rampart on going, but all down hill on departure. The hotel staff was most helpful, made several dinner reservations and we were always greeted with a smile and good day. The morning breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day of sightseeing with a hearty breakfast. Nothing and I would book once again during future visits to Lucca.
The friendly staff and self service food and drink facilities
It was quiet, comfortable and close to the city centre and railway station One morning the breakfast buffet had been depleted by a large group and even though it was open for another 1.5 hours there was little effort to replenish it and the selection available was poor.
The Staff was very helpful. The 24 hour free refreshment bar was an excellant touch. The location was excellent for walking in the walls of Lucca. Free bikes to ride around town were fun to use.
The Hotel Ilaria was lovely, and our family of four had absolutely no complaints. Our two rooms were clean and exceptionally appointed, and one was accessible to a lovely private patio available to rooms on the same side of the hall. Although it was hot (July), the air conditioning system worked flawlessly in both rooms. The breakfast buffet, which was served in a lovely canopied sunroom, included an extensive selection of both hot and cold foods, breads, juices, fresh fruits and meats. Every single staff member we encountered was helpful and friendly, and the front desk staff member recommended an excellent restaurant for dinner (and kindly made reservations for us) on our first night in Lucca. Since parking is at a premium within walls of Lucca, the fact that this hotel could offer an onsite parking space for our car was a key benefit. We would recommend the Hotel Ilaria highly and would choose it again when visiting Lucca. Not at all.
Poor breakfast room - badly arranged tables. People queueing to get a table. Constant noise of running water next to Room 3.
the staff were great made effort to solve problems when they could. great location good breakfast to start the day. great ambience when we were there the weather perfect beautiful greenery fun to have a glass of wine before venturing out don't get assigned to room101 because you will be up at 5:30 while they are in the process of preparing your breakfast. the clients should be a little more careful when leaving the rooms door slamming can be irritating
The staff at reception were exceptionally helpful. And the location was fabulous.
The amazing views from the garden. No.
Please write at least 15 words. O like to stay here and I will come with family in the future. Also I will inform my friends The business centre need to be provided. I really need this facility including computers and internets
Very comfortable - central within old town of Lucca - easy to get to by car - hotel parking
Excellent location within the walls of Lucca and on-site free parking. Afternoon "snacks" and drinks in the lobby. Helpful staff. Comfortable rooms. Mediocre breakfast (good pastries but cold eggs, mediocre buffet and poor coffee!)
Room was a nice size with a uniquely painted walls. Bathrom had a large whirlpool tub, a rare treat in Italy. Breakfast contained many options and was nicely set out. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Stayed an extra day than we initially intended because of the hotel and to have more time in the charming town of Lucca.
The frescos on the ceilings and walls of the hotel are charming. The receptionists were all very helpful. It is well placed for the main shopping area of the walled town of Lucca but in a side street so quiet bearing in mind the central location. They have use of a car park opposite the hotel which is very handy but I would imagine places are limited in high season. Very little to criticise - nit picking, there was a strong aroma on the corridor outside our room which I think was an air freshner of some description which I found unpleasant. Our room had a shower over the bath rather than a separate cubicle which I would have preferred.
superb breakfast and excellent English-speaking staff
The recently redone rooms were artistically painted and were absolutely beautiful! Breakfast was abundant and delicious. The Via Degli Angeli, once we were able to find it, was charming and convenient to the heart of Lucca. The staff could not have been more helpful and considerate! I would have prefered free access to the internet, as there was a charge.
Nice helpfull staff. Great location, very convenient. Better directions for getting to hotel by car. Tea pots and better access to hot water for tea at breakfast.
The location in Lucca is great and our room was large and most comfortable with a huge bathroom with jacuzzi, and very comfortable bed. The breakfasts were delicious and the front desk staff very pleasant and helpful. We would most certainly return to this hotel and will recommend it highly to friends.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is very central. The bathroom was huge, which is almost unheard of in Italy. Breakfast was also very comprehensive. My room had the promised view over the roofs of Lucca, which boiled down to broken tiles and nearby houses back doors and windows
persoal service and individual decor
Staff was particularly helpful, especially with restaurant recommendations. None.
the hotel was very clean ,the staff charming and helpful, the breakfast most enjoyable,a most pleasant stay, the staff are to be complimented.
The location is close to restraunts and shopping. It is quite a walk from the train station. Take a cab. The electricity and plumbing are old and don't work well. It was extremely hot and too loud to sleep with the window open. They said we couldn't turn on the air conditioning and didn't offer a fan. We were up all night hearing the people above us. The complimentary breakfast gave us food poisoning.
Mario the business owner was beyond friendly, efficient and informative. Breakfasts were feasts of hot and cold food well beyond the usual continental breakfast. An elevator was also a welcome surprise in this old palazzo.
Location excellent for pondering around Lucca (and getting lost!!!)which was all part of the fun. we were in a very warm room - the manager moved us as soon as we told him. The staff could not have been more helpful, with travel information and booking restaurants. Always had time to help. We enjoyed our stay Lucca is lovely. ( we are two mature couples ) Also the wine is wonderful and we tried some very good bottles, dining also very good, with a wide choice of restaurants. We would go back . Breakfast was average - but acceptable.
Quiet location. Charming proprietors.Well fitted out
We found the staff friendly and helpful directing us to several good restaurants, the room was very comfortable and breakfast excellent.
There was a traditional feel to the room and the staff were always most helpful with any queries. Breakfast in the breakfast room was also very pleasant. There were a couple of minor points about the room that needed attention - eg some of the parquetry floor was lifting which could catch your feet.
The warmth of the welcome we recieved on arrival. the cleanliness of the hotel, it had been refurbished to the highest of standards. nothing was to much trouble for the staff, we loved our stay.we have told all our friends and family about this first class hotel and showed them all the brochure. we will definately be back. no
The staff waw very helpful and friendly. They made our stay in Lucca a wonderful experience.
Location is ideal for exploring Lucca-close to historic centre, restaurants, etc., but in a quiet street away from noise. Staff are excellent- called different restaurants to arrange for dinner reservations tho I had left it too late- going out of their way to deal with requests. Hotel is charming, breakfast is substantial. I was in a single room that was for disabled guests and had some features in the bathroom that were inconvenent- no self-contained shower stall-only a tiled area next to the toilet- that made for a wet floor. wheelchair users would appreciate this but i didn't. No towel racks either-maid used the hand rail for the toilet to hang towels. These are minor issues that can be easily rectified.
Attentive and very polite staff plus the sensibly long hours for breakfast. The location meant we could reach all parts easily but not have a lot of noise In an ideal world would have liked larger bathroom and wider single beds
We had an overnight stay at this hotel.Very helpful staff.Central location.Very good breakfast.Would stay here again.
Beautiful & snug hotel situated in the centre, very helpful staff! Lack of inside isolation, you can hear guests next door whispering.
Very nice and rich breakfast, while arriving late at night the room key and welcome letter was left...Very good location and free parking!!! Everything was excellent
Very friendly, The manager/owner was most helpful. I feel we got very good value for money and I will recommend this B&B to family and friends.
location to town center
Nice clean hotel with good sized rooms, good facilities including free access to internet computer and friendly staff Nothing to dislike
The kindness of the staff, the location, really close to the city's walls, the excellent breakfast and the feelling that you really get to live Lucca's way of life, with its quiteness and peace.
The position of the B&B is ideal for exploring Lucca on foot and is within walking distance of the Station. This B&B was great value for money. I would certainly go there again.
Great location, superbly helpful staff who waited for us to arrive and gave restaurant recommendations and helpful advice, great breakfast, free parking, wifi and very clean rooms
Our room was well furnished and beautifully decorated. The villa had its own car park.
We loved the walled town for walking on and found very nice shops bars and restaurant
Great location, good breakfast and the receptionist (Diana?) was very nice and helpful. No elevator.
location and quiet no bath tub
Qualiy of breakfeast is low and not up to international standards. (once no meat or cheese, only dolci; butter was missing; eggs only supplementory) For transfer to opera one had only the expensive (170 €) solution instead of the usual (50€)
Everything--it was lovely and impeccably clean--The staff service was superb. My son thought the included breakfast could have been more ample and varied.
The building facilities No international TV.No CNN available
Very comfortable, nice and helpful staff, good restaurant, clean, good location
Excellent situation, friendly staff, very clean and well run hotel. Our suite had all modern technology but still in style with the age of the hotel We liked everything about the hotel and would recommend it
Location Very bad breakfast
Central location; room very nicely furnished and lovely amenities, room very quiet Front desk personnel
Excellent location in the old city.
Great service, updated accomodations in a historic atmosphere
Fantastic hotel, excellent staff and great location. Lucca is easy to explore on foot from here.
The front office manager (during the day) - was exceptionally friendly and helpful - He upgraded us to a luxury room when we checked in, and was always very ready and willing to help with any questions we had during our stay. The room was beautifully decorated , large and comfortable. Well situated hotel - close to bus stops . Private parking was very useful .
Beautiful rooms, ideal location, very friendly helpful staff, excellent buffet breakfast. Complete luxury! Impossible to find fault with San Luca Palace.
No need to look any further this is Italy at its best. Huge rooms with beautiful furniture and the staff are really attentive withouit being obtrusive. The manager personally thanked us at the end of our stay and the breakfast delivered to the room was fabulous. The restaurant recomedations were super.
The hotel is in a very good location in Lucca. Very close to the best restaurants and an easy walk to the main shopping street. Access is easy by car, however there is limited parking in the hotel car park. There is other parking within close distance. The breakfasts are very good. The lack of a restaurant in the hotel for lunch or evening meals is understandable given its proximity to numerous eating places. The hotel does however have a nice bar and also a small area outside for drinks during the day and evening. Lucca is a good base to stay for exploring the northern half of Tuscany and has many attractions of its own. No, everything was good.
Room and bathroom were very modern and clean. Breakfast was excellent for English and local guests. Luca, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. One of the best and cheapest hotels/B&B's I've stayed in. I would definitely recommend this B&B and would stay here again!!
Very friendly and warm welcome, owner is extremely helpful in every way.
Owner friendly and charming. Excellent breakfast.
The manager, Luca, is very hospitable and extremely helpful. It is worth visiting for him alone. You really feel welcome.
The B&B is newly renovated with new tiled floors throughout, rooms are spacious and the lcoation is perfect for exploring Lucca They could improve the WiFi network.
Good location right by station but pretty quiet. Easy to get to by car also. Helpful staff.
The staff was fantastic! My wife commented that she wished she could have taken the older gentleman (greeter) home. He was that nice and sincerely friendly. Also, the location was great!
Very friendly staff, just outside city walls and next to train station.
friendly and helful staff free use of bicycles good breakfast well situated for easy access to the station and the town
Very friendly and helpful staff, clean, confortable room. The hotel is very near the railway station, so not far to haul your luggage! Although the station is close by, you only hear the occasional train whistle. Great selection for breakfast. Only a short walk to the walls of Lucca, so you can get inside the city easily.
Located right next to the staton but not at all noisy. Tea and coffee making facilities a real bonus. No issues at all
proximity to all facilities around Lucca
The hotel offered spacious, good value rooms in a very convenient location.
The location inside the city wall was easy to access and the small hotel was charming.
breakfast was quite nice, it is a quaint little hotel in a street not very easy to find, but once you are there, it is good for explaring the city. the hotel is clean and pleasant. there is no lift though so you have to lug your luggage up the narrow stairs.the staff is temperamental ranging from friendly to quite curt. rooms are cramped but the bathroom is decent for european standards. we booked a double room and the lady at the reception palmed off another room on us saying that we were not allowed by law to have four people in the room ( we were a family of four including a 23 month old and a 4 year old) we tried to reason with her to charge us for an extra person because our children wouldn't have slept in another room. she suggested instead that my husband should sleep with one child in one room and me with the second one in the other room. i think that she was just trying to pull a fast one on us.
Great location and friendly staff. Breakfast was lovely and the food local. None
Great flatscreen TV and airconditioning. Wonderful wireless service at no extra charge. Great breakfast. Friendly service. Look forward to returning next year. No elevator but this is common for Italy.
Friendly and very helpful staff. Nice, small hotel with personal service and very good location. Highly recommended! I will certainly stay there again if I go to Lucca.
Although breakfast was not included we had it our second day and it was really good, well worth it. Also liked that it was close to the train station. We were in the room with a balcony which was really lovely.
The Hotel is small and charming in a good location and the breakfast was good. The daily room cleaning was not good. Bed cover looked like it needed a wash, but bed linen was clean. Small things really but attention to detail would make this hotel a little gem
Location is perfect, just inside the town walls, near the Cathedral and a short walk from the train station. Very helpful staff.
The folks at the hotel were very welcoming and friendly. They were helpful in providing information and arranging taxis. Our room had a balcony with a lovely canopy of flowers. Breakfast was great.
The staff was wonderful, helping us with everything from wi fi connection, to the shortest route to the train station and even som excellent recommendations for area restaurants. The breakfast was also very nice. The location is excellent for those arriving by train.
Wonderful location. Cheerful staff. Clean & charming fresh ample breakfast!
would rate it higher if I could
A very welcoming hotel and very close to the centre of Lucca
Villa had large comfortable rooms and was spotlessly clean No
Good location and lovelly old style villa.
Villa Agnese offered me a bike to use during my stay in Lucca. This was especially helpful because the only way to see Lucca's historic center is by bike...its not mandatory but it is fantastic. The only thing I did not like is that the garden has no flowers. It is a back yard surrounded by trees....it should not be listed as a garden. but other than than it was nice.
the stay was great especially breakfast outside in the garden.
Hotel was spotless. Lovely backyard, although it was too cool to use. (1) There is no lift. (2) Also claimed to be across the street from an entrance into the walled city. However, this entrance was dark and uncomfortable to use and felt we had to use the main entrance which was some distance away. (3) Breakfast was less ample than other hotels in Italy.
Friendly staff. Nice room. Liked it all.
the location was great. it was difficult to reach the hotel because it was in the middle of the centre but that was on the other hand an advantage
The central location was perfect for exploring Lucca and for shopping. Front of desk staff could have been more helpful - especially in relation to parking. I was left to struggle on my own to the garage.
All the staff were friendly and helpful, in particular Lulu is the most friendly, pleasant and helpful receptionist you could ever wish to meet.
The central position in a city that we visit on every trip. The positive nature of the staff. Nothing
Excellent location, very nice staff uncomfortable beds
Central location Access to the separate block needed to be obtained by one of the staff pressing a button behind desk, so might as well have had to collect a room key.
Hotel la Luna was a great spot for our family vacation. The hotel is located in the heart of the city and was immaculate. The staff was helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to assist us with our needs.
it's very convenient and the staff were very helpful both times I've stayed there, I've not been on the ground floor, and had a heavy bag, some help getting it up the stairs would have been appreciated
Comfortable room Plastic cups for breakfast juice. Artificial flowers on the table
Hotel was in a good location. Our room was very small and very poorly lit.
Convenient location close to places of interest. Spacious rooms, nicely furnished with patio access and nice Italian ambience Difficult stairs to access hotel foyer. Lack of help with luggage. Major noisy and dusty construction at building entrance. Taxi driver could not find hotel even with navigation device. Sign for hotel too small and brely readable from short distance. Owner not very friendly. Refused us use of toilet facilities after we had checked out.
Excellent location, spacious historic, well furnished, elegant setting with limited but more than adequate and very helpful assistance- nearby small hotel for any needed assistance when Relais not staffed. Good for independent travelers who are self-sufficient. Was perfect for us- might be problematic for someone traveling to Italy for the first time- really a b&b so that directions re checking in and out must be followed-
a pleasant Ralais, interesting old Palais with historic connections, the rooms were furnished in 18th cent style. Comfortable and attractive, pleasant breakfast in beautiful large room. Staff were very friendly and approacheable We did not know that there would really not be anyone to let us in if we arrived between 13:00 and 15:00 when the hotel was closed. It would be helpful to make this much clearer. The location was superb inside the wall of the city
Easy reach of the city, lovely and modern
We stayed many places in Italy, but San Lorenzo really stood out. Beautiful, super clean, excellent breakfast. The woman who owns the 500 year old converted palace is pure class! And Relais San Lorenzo reflects all her good taste.
Centrally located in Lucca. A building full of character and interesting features. Our particular room on a lower floor was quite noisy from staff working the kitchen above and guests passing through the entrance starwell. But all other areas seemed to be very quiet an peaceful.
The room was very spacious and nicely furnished, high ceiling, large bathroom. The location was excellent for walking to sights. Another lamp would be nice as it was somewhat dark. It was a bit cold at night but we used the blankets provided.
Very nice old pallazo, nice lady at reception, beautiful rooms, well located, room butterfly is fantastic some noise coming from restaurant in the same block (kitchen)
The staff was very nice and helpful. The locatiion can't be beat. Bathroom was dangerously small and had no counter space. Paid for internet access but the signal was not srtrong enough to access the web. Staff graciously refunded the internet fee. I would suggest tyhat at these rates wifi should be provided at no charge, assumint the hotel acquires a wireless router with sufficient power.
Wonderfully located and good bargain. Small room, one window opening onto a brick wall a few feet away.
The hotel had welcoming, friendly staff at reception. The room was clean, comfortable and all that was required for a short stay. The shower room was smallish but well appointed although the shower did show some of the eccentricities common throughout Italy. We did not have the hotel breakfast but had our coffee and croissants at one of the excellent cafes in the square round the corner. The restaurants in the vicinity were good for both lunch and dinner, catering for all budgets. Highly recommeng getting the audio guide from tourist info and taking a walk of the town and its walls.
Right from the moment we arrived at the hotel, the greeting was welcoming and everything was done to make us feel relaxed about our stay. This approach continued throughout our stay, no matter who was manning the front desk. The size of the bathrooms was initially a bit confronting and there didn't seem to be a lift, but we 'acclimatised' to the bathroom and the hotel staff very helpfully carried our heavy suitcases for us.
The staff is very engaging and helpful. The location is beautiful, across the street from the birthplace of Puccini and central to the medieval walled city of Lucca. Didn't stay long enough. Give yourself a few days to see Lucca and a couple more to see Pisa which is only 20 minutes away by bus.
