The view, the comfort of the room, the cleanliness, staff, the dining options, all the wonderful
The view was amazing. Service was lovely. Room was very nicely appointed. Will definitely return. The design of the shutters blocks the beautiful view. I really don't understand why a hotel would spend so much on beachfront property and then prevent shutters from fully opening to accommodate over-sized desk in room. Still it was pretty overall.
Convenient location , comfy beds abundant towels , great conference areas. Lacking amenities like pool and expensive parking very cold unable to change room temp
The bed is AMAZING. That has to be the best sleep that I have had in a very long time. The hotel is in the heart of the city and apparently does not have sound proof walls so it is very noisy all the time however they do leave ear plugs on the night stand to compensate.
Staff was incredible
The place is gorgeous! And the rooms were really nice! It's more a trend. When you get a budget room, so many amenities are included. When you splurge for some luxury, I feel like you are charged for everything. Breakfast was not included, wifi costs extra, parking was $20 per day. Elevators seemed a bit slow and there's only one of the 3 that go to the garage levels.
The attitude of the staff was wonderful. Above and beyond. It had a full service feel - staff only, not the facility, and certainly not the scary parking lot. It simply was not as high end as I expected. I have had two kids attend college closeby, and I always dreamed of being able to afford staying at the Omni. We decided to splurge on our last night there after checking our of a rental house in the area. I guess I built it up in my head that it would be like a Four Seasons or something really nice, but it was no better than the Marriott or the New Haven Hotel which are half the price or less. Disappointing! I was totally unimpressed with the bedding especially, it was like a flash back to the 90's!
evryyhing was good
The local restaurants & night life The elevators was fairly noisy & in constant use. The shaft was behind our room. An international convention of United Nations Ambassadors at the high school level was taking place hence, the elevators were at peak use......
The neighborhood is marginal, and with a room on the 4th floor, you get a lot of noise well into the night. Only two elevators were working for almost 20 stories, with a wedding reception going on... made for really long waits.
Verry nice hotel, great location with a lot of accommodations. Don't let the price scare you, well worth it. Woke up with a back ache, bed was not as comfortable as I would have expected. Access to wifi should be included, but you have to pay extra.
Amazing stay at beautiful clean hotel with courteous staff! I would highly recommend this hotel!!! Next time we visit my daughter we will definitely be staying there. Place was extremely clean and staff couldn't do enough to make you happy! Haven't stayed in a place that was outstanding in cleanliness with amazing staff in years!!!
There isn't really anything nice I have to say about my experience. The location was good. Facility in serious decline. Room should have been $79 a night not $129 for the lack of quality.
It was very easy access to and from the highway and downtown. Always wasn't far from the wedding we were going to. Also the free breakfast was good. The LA Quinta was not very comfortable sleeping. The parking was over crowded and the rooms could use a freshen up.
No deposit. Location is good. Free breakfast foods. Plywood sink front. Old water bottles under tv stand. sound of traffic in the room.
The wallpaper in room was peeling off, stained and moldy looking. The ceiling was stained and poorly patched.
The staff is always very friendly The bathrooms have not been updated.
There's a shuttle available to pick you up from Union Station, which is close by but not exactly walking distance. Their staff is SUPER friendly and really have that New England-region pride of their city and the area. Their rooms are well-maintained and clean. The view toward Long Wharf/Pier and the New Haven harbour - outstanding, I really love the view of a harbourfront! There wasn't much to dislike, but important things to point out was that, upon entering the room, there was one single moth flying around - it didn't make any appearance again after the first night, so I wasn't too bothered by it. The only other oddity that I had to double-take on was the choice of toilets in the room - it was one of those industrial toilets - not that I have a problem with it, but it just wasn't the best choice (plus, the noise that can be heard from your neighbours with the same toilet makes it feel like literally being in a bathroom stall.)
It was nice and relaxing for a stay. I'd have liked a way for to connect my computer to the tv. Also wish there was a microwave.
Room was clean. Kind of a rough area. People drinking in the parking lot. A lot of screaming and yelling in hallways at night.
The Staff was great friendly and helpful. When I got to my room the ceiling had hair stuck to it and the bathroom sink was broken. I tried to use the fitness facility and they had no towels, no wipes and the tv was turned up very loud and there was no remote in site.
5 am fire alarm very loud and left behind a pair of pants never to be returned again by iiuserkeeoing.
Good for a short stay. Great location. Perfect for what we needed and at the price it was.
Front desk staff was very hospitable and friendly. When I asked for a room modification instead of acting like it was nuisance they happily looked into it and ended up accomodating. The room was clean and very comfortable. I will definitely be returning!
Location in downtown New Canaan Someone is apparently in it for the money only here, the New Haven Hotel offers no value and certainly no "caring" attitude. For that it charges too much at $ 159 per night. You get: - Good downtown location. - Clean room, good size. - Thin walls, to hear the neighbors, and everyone from the hallways. - Mattresses of dubious quality. - Breakfast, a stale buffet in a dark 2nd floor room, is an unfriendly reminder that nobody cares, and at $ 13.99 someone wants to make good money. - Self parking at the Temple Garage at $ 20 overnight, when the public rate is $ 16, no value add, just a surcharge by the hotel. Staff could have pointed out that there is a free parking on weekends around and across... - Very friendly and helpful receptionist, one person only. And Housekeeping knocking at the door at 9am on a Sunday morning makes this a bit of a bad dream in New Haven. Good luck!
friendly staff, quick checkin/out, clean rooms, great location AC was set to 60 deg but never got below 72-75.. and the bed wasn't overly comfortable.
The whole hotel had a complete overhaul, as did our room. The smell of fresh paint and carpet... Love it. The rooms were spacious, absolutely spotless, (almost) everything brand new, great big beds with lots of pillows. I couldn't understand why they would choose to have such a big renovation, obviously everything was well designed and good quality, only to leave the old shower floors in! Especially as ours was actually quite worn and grubby. The combination of old browning plastic with shiny new marble is not my idea af a design feature...
Everything was very clean, and the rooms are quite nicely appointed. Most of the staff was very nice, too (there was just one check-in person who I found a bit rude). No breakfast included - even of the most basic kind. It's located on a somewhat dicey street. The workout facilities were minimal. The views from the room were ugly, and a bright light from the garage comes in unless you use the full blinds.
Location to Yale. Clean. Expensive parking.
A clean renovated hotel just a few blocks walk from Yale's old campus and art galleries. The breakfast buffet was inexpensive and ample and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
Facilities are modern and up-to-date. Very clean. Parking fees are not included in booking prices
The room is clean, tidy with nice furniture, hdtv and comfortable mattresses. The hotel is currently under renovation. Therefore, the gym is not available, which is listed in the web site.
The room was clean, well furnished and comfortable Having to pay extra for parking
The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Only paper cups provided for coffee in the room. When we asked at the restaurant and front desk we were told that there were no other cups available. The housekeeper, however got us some regular cups.
Clean rooms and lobby, courteous staff. This hotel was what you'd expect from a Courtyard. I went to see Yale with my daughter and the hotel was only convenient to the schools athletic facilities. nice area though! I didn't like paying for self- parking in an outdoor lot. There was a covered section but it was full. Once parked, I had a longish walk back to the lobby with my bags. The basic wifi is free. Hi-speed is $5.95. The basic was fine for slow-surfing the internet but to stream a movie, you might need to upgrade.
People and staff were very nice while they are going thru renovation. There were college athletic teams also in the hotel that weekend..They ran up and down the halls till 3:00 am and to my knowledge no one ever asked them to hold the noise down.A constant party till about 3 or 4 am then they would all go into their rooms and go to sleep.Very annoying.
I mentioned the breakfast was out of many items and the staff (a dark complected girl) said I was a racist!!. I was with my dark husband and I am white. It had NOTHING to do with racism. When I took out my phone to record her, she called the police saying I had no right to record her. The general manager (Rohit) came and we waited all morning to get our chance to speak with police who said we did nothing wrong. The General manager said he would comp our 2 day stay as his breakfast worker wrongly accused me of being a racist and ruined our day dealing with her. She further lied that she called police because my husband told her she should not have played the race card for no reason and it scared her. (not true, she called police because I was recording her) After telling me he would comp our family for wasting our day, the manager later put all charges back on our family's account that he said he would credit, AFTER we left and refused to speak with us until now! Even after we proved his worker lied to him about the events. By calling me a racist just because of the color of my skin IS racist on HER part. By the way, our children are all of mixed race. Access to hotel was easy and good. Staff made quick changes to an unsatisfactory initial room. Initial room was supposed to be non-smoking - however the room smelled of smoke and the bed (foot/shoe cover) has burns in it. This room was a ground floor room and less than 10 feet from the air-conditioner were people outside smoking ... which made the smell worse.
Pillow top bed Little noisy
Front desk was outstanding here and went the extra mile. Shuttle driver and restaurants staff were also stellar.
The staff were all accommodating and helpful. I really appreciated their friendliness and willingness to help. The location was also a plus. My room had an overwhelming odor of ammonia. There were spots on the bed especially that smelled like cat urine. The comforter was not clean and many of the towels had a funky smell. The carpet had wet spots throughout the room, and overall the facilities felt unclean.
Leaving Hookers, cigar smoke and loud parties. Paper thin walls, terrible bathroom. I wanted to take a shower after taking a shower in that shower. Who knows what was on the bed comforter. Turn on the TV and the first thing the TV system attempts to sell you is an adult movie. The real treat was when the guy in the room next to me had a hooker come to his room. The art of negotiation for a $20 favor was a bit elementary but hearing him finish was a sound I can't stop hearing.
Pool Fitness room very small
convenient to highway and colleges Staff checking in was not friendly and was not helpful. I had trouble using my AAA when booking room. Upon arrival I explained to clerk. He flat out told me it was too late. He did not try to help, he did not make any effort to see if he could apply the AAA discount or ask a manager. I have stayed in enough hotels where this gesture is the norm. I will not be returning to this hotel when I visit my son at college.
Very long walk to room. Included breakfast was sparse to non existent. definitely needs attention.
The hotel is beautiful outside and the grounds are kept very nice. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It's right on the beach. The restaurant and bar staff were not happy to be there with the exception of the inside hostess! We "waited to be seated" as the sign said at the outside bar/grill for about ten minutes while three girls talked behind the bar which only had two customers. One of them called to us as we walked away to go inside for service but it was too late. Once seated, our waiter actually made the comment that he's going to be so happy in a few weeks when it's slow and nobody is there for dinner. Later at the bar seemed to be a repeat of the situation at dinner. From finger prints covering glass surfaces that seem to have been there for a while to the elevator that looks like something was splashed on the wall and not cleaned for two days there seems to be a lack of attention to detail at this hotel. New management could really make some improvements as it is a beautiful hotel. For this price point I expect better.
Beautiful grounds, great pool for kids, Sunday Brunch Being overcharged at Sunday's Brunch for 16 oz. of Coke ($18.00), on top of the $50.00 pp charge for brunch, noisy people in room next to us kept us up until 1 am, noisy outdated a/c made noise all night.
Comfortable rooms and beds with individual thermostats and a spacious bathroom. The hotel is conveniently located relatively close to everything. Courteous and attentive staff. The free breakfast was mediocre to low quality; though they did change out the options daily, the options were few. The eggs were bland and made with egg-beaters as opposed to fresh eggs, and without salsa/tobasco (my preference) I didn't have anything to put on them to make them taste any better besides pepper, which didn't help much - similar issue with the cheese omelets. Also, while fresh fruit was available the first day, it was not changed out daily and by the time we left the bananas had gone brown.
Greeted by all friendly staff. Aaa card welcomed with a discount and a smile. Forgot everything and needed all complimentary toiletries and they were a huge help. Breakfast...well balanced and tasty. Something for everyone. Great coffee. Lovely staff. Clean rooms. Big bathroom. We loved the signs on the elevator (one man's junk...another treasure type quote, car pooling." A great surprise since we were looking up hotels by location and cost. We will definitely go back. Thanks to all. I Seemed to be trying to encourage a more "green" environment in regards to laundry and things in the breakfast area were recyclable. However, we couldn't tell if the disposable trays, plastic ware, etc. Really were going to be recycled. We appreciated the effort and still felt a little concern for the amount of waste. And we appreciate that there is an effort. It was a great stay. Thank you.
shower pool was dirty, didn't have towels, restroom sink/toilet? (didn't look, just reported) overflowing windows so dirty couldn't see out of them staff only miminimally concerned about pool
We arrived just as the snow arrived. It was delightful to have a fireplace and space to relax with people during the storm. Loved the selection of teas available in the lobby in the afternoon and the waffles at breakfast in the morning. Would have enjoyed having an Earl Grey in the tea selection . ;>)
Clean, comfortable bed Noisy AC system, weird thermostat, it gets really cold then really hot, without me changing the temperature
Room reeked of smoke, was dirty and outdated, and the unit next door held a party from 2-4 am with shouting and fighting that spilled over into the parking lot. On top of that, front desk was understaffed and slow, parking lot was crowded, and stairs to second floor unit was outside.
I traveled with my husband and teenage son - we stayed in the 2 room loft - it was awesome space for all of us! Had a small kitchen with fridge - but most important we each had out own bathrooms. Cont breakfast was very decent. We didn't use the amenities. Easy on and off freeway which we did need. We had no views - but didn't care - that wasn't why we were staying there. Would recommend!
Pool & Dinner was included, Perfectly wheelchair suitable,
Spacious suite, room enough for 2 adults and 2 grown-up children; nice and relaxed atmosphere, everything we needed during this 2-nights stay!
Room, itself, was nice and it was quiet. Although check-in is known to be at 3pm we arrived early from Norwalk area at 11am and then went to the front desk again ar 2pm and they never tried to be accomodating to us but just told us it was not guaranteeed until a 3pm arrival. The housekeep[ng staff should try to accomodate someone who is already at the locatiuon versus their traditional room-to-room approach. We did not get into the room until 3:15-3:30pm.When tyou pay over $200/nihgt, I'd lik ethe staff to try to be more accomodating.
Good rate for a room with a full kitchen - Main lobby building and breakfast area was very nice with a nice outdoor patio. They accept pets. Rooms are pet friendly, but they stick you in the back corner with the other pet owners - There is also a $75 charge for pets. Some of the residents who live long term at the Village Suites were a little sketchy. New Haven town is also a little sketchy - The only nice area we found was near the old Yale campus.
The bed was very comfortable with nice linens and pillows. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, especially the waffles. We also enjoyed the complimentary popcorn. The room was very clean and efficient, but the decor was a little "tired".
Friendly staff, comfortable bed, completary breakfast, a home away from home. Not many night life attractions, but isn't hotels fault.
Room very confortable, nice breakfast, ideal for family A little bit outside the city, no restaurants close by
Nice room with plenty of space. Courteous and friendly staff. We didn't stay for long but it was a good stay. The room was clean and neat. I would definitely stay there again.
Location was very convenient to what we were doing.
This hotel is very conveintly located. We were visiting a friend who was about 5 miles away. Rooms were clean, bed comfortable. JoJo at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.
Staff was very friendly, helpful and professional No Problems
Automatic door made this truly an accessible hotel No transfer bench in the tub of the accessible room. There was a slot installed for one but it was missing and, according to personnel the accessible tubs never had one. Did have a hand held shower and grab bars, but no way to safely enter the tub.

The room smelled of smoke in the evening as some other guests were apparently breaking the rules and smoking inside the premises
Staff was pleasant and helpful no
Location, spacious room Temperature, lobby was freezing. Our room was freezing when we got there and took a long time to warm up. The air unit is constantly running and noisy. We never really had hot water in the shower.

Close to where we were going older hotel could use updating, just basics during night fire alarm went off alarms not connected to fire dept. Not worth $---- per night than taxes on top of that.
Very clean and very nice staff.
