The manager was nice

Cons:

They put me in a car that had a recall and after waiting 45 minute to get through the line, I ended up having to back out to get another car, which was a small SUV. Very different from the luxury car that I reserved and paid for.

Went in to get my rental vehicle and nobody was at the counter I ended up having to pay for an Uber during my trip and never received a rental vehicle from Hertz

My experience was out of this world, due to the employees I had the chance to speak with. Specifically, the man who checked me in and out, as well as the other two employees in the office at the time. They were so warm, extremely accommodating, and absolutely turned my days around. I went in well to pick-up, and left knowing the day was one to be enjoyed. I came in today to drop off my car, feeling.. not the best! I left knowing the day was one to be enjoyed. They are truly amazing people.

The staff was the worst part. We won't rent from national again. Linda was awful and not just to me. She was awful to several other customers.

Cons:

The wait for the car pickup was 40 minutes even though we had a reservation.

Exterior of car was dirty and I was told that was because it was the desert. The person at the desk handed me the keys and told me I would find the car out in the lot. The lot is a hotel lot and I had no idea where to look. It was 100 degrees and I had my 87 year old mother with me. I looked all over and had to go inside and find the worker who also had trouble finding the car. Started out of the lot to discover a low tire pressure warning. Back inside. This time the worker came out with me. Didn't realize until I was well on my way that the AC wasn't cooling right. I had it at 64 with full fan and it was never cool. I would never rent from this location again.

I was lie too…. I what to split the bill. I was told not a problem, when I turn the car in I got a different story. Maybe Avis can help me with a discount rate for future use or reduce my car rental rate. I paid 821.00 for 13 days….. not happy !!!!!!!!! WH

was close to where we were staying and was convenient. thought we got a fair rental amount except for the additional cost - see dislike. selection was not great - rented a mid-size car and got a hyndai elantra.

Cons:

went to pick up car and asked for discount for AAA or AARP. Was asked for our aarp card which we gave and received a discount for. Then after we went to pay, was told we needed insurance ($60+) for an additional driver, but if we had used aarp coverage would have been included at no additional charge. he didn't explain that before and he was the one who asked for our AAA card. Explained to use aarp he would have to redo everything and we had already waited about half an hour so we went ahead and paid the additional amount.

car smelled like pot. the rental agent said it was legas and nothing he could do. Our car was going to the shop and no other cars were available. after going to a casino there was a police checkpoint and they had my wife and I sit on the curb for one hour in the rail while they searched the car. It was one in the morning and we are in our 70's. Never another avis

This was a scam. Deceptive marketing with hidden fees and predatory practices on the consumer. I canceled reservation onsite , didn’t take the car and will never use them or affiliate rental companies. I will never recommend them.

Online your able to pay with an American Express Card. When you get there after a long flight and a a long drive from Mimai Airport to get there....they tell you we do not accept American Express cards. Mr and two other customers went through the same thing...there was a lot of upset people in the same boat...yelling, arguing. I will never use them again! Stop accepting American Express online for carwiz!

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
