Very clean hotel with a well laid out breakfast buffet. The lounge area was great for a drink in the evening with well priced choice of drinks and friendly bar staff. The location is perfect for walking to the old centre and just over 10 minutes by foot to the main station. Great value for money for such contemporary and smart decor. The hotel staff were very polite but some of the Receptionists are a little cool and unfriendly but this did not detract from the overall good impression of the hotel.
+ Location + overall facility - Room size - only 2 coat hangers - hefty surcharge of 75% due to Oktoberfest reduced "value for money" significantly
Nice clean city center hotel with friendly staff and decent breakfast. The internet connection had some problems the first day of my visit but I am sure that the provider was responsible and not the hotel.
The hotel is very new, so everything was fresh. I found the bed comfortable. Well located with U-Bahn station very close by. As mentioned by other reviewers the rooms are small. The desk and stool are inadequate and there is nowhere to put your luggage or properly store clothing. This hotel is only suitable for short stays and for travelers with minimal luggage. Service by the reception staff is inconsistent; ie some excellent, others not so good.
A very stilish and modern (built 2009) hotel, located very centraly in Munich. Around the corner from Sendlinger Tor (and the U-bahn station) and next to the shopping district, only 6-8 min walk to Marienplatz. Rooms are small but adequate, breakfast was very nice (continental only) and good value at 7.50 euros.
Good location not easy parking by car
this was a comfortable well run hotel with an efficient check-in and luggage storage service. the hotel provided an excellent wide choice breakfast at a very reasonable cost. the hotel was well placed to explore the city. the queue for breakfast
Convenient location to shopping belt along Sendlinger and city central. It's only a stone's throw away from Sendlinger U-bahn. Hotel reception was in a mess when we arrived on 15 Oct 09, with staff scrambling to search for guests name manually on pieces of paper. We were told that their computer systems are down. They could not locate my booking as my name was erroneously mis-spelled in their maunal listing. I was shocked that they do not have records on our booking reference no. with Booking.com. It took them almost 25mins to eventually allocate my 2 rooms.
Decor, walking distance to city No parking as promised, trouble with internet eventually resolved. Staff not friendly or helpful
A terrific hotel, very slick design, very reasonaobly priced at an excellent location in the heart of Munich,.
Service is excellent. I arrived the hotel exhausted at 7:30am. Reception let me check into the room without extra cost. The hotel is a six year old one. It is a very nice modern hotel in a revonated old building. The location is right by the central train station. Transportation is convenience, but not as nice as the other five stars hotels in the area. Anyway, this is by far the best among all the hotels I stayed in Munich before (and I have stayed at Four Seasons and Bayerpost, ...) Nothing to complain.
Location, staff, room, facilities, swimming pool, restaurant, hotel looks etc. Most of it. Not a big problem but if you like to have bath tub, you need to ask for it in advance as not all rooms are equipped. Also we like the aircondition to run a little cooler but it was OK.
The spa had to pay for internet- wifi should be free guys
the hotel is of a very high standard and the facilities are excellent
Close to train station Wasn't crazy about the room design
concierge very helpful.. late check out help a lot
nice rooms, nice spa Apparently there are no king size beds in this hotel despite the advertising in booking and in sofitel sites. only single beds.
close to train station spa was closed even though we inquired about it before staying there
Great hotel in great location
best hotel ever
The whole experience - the attentiveness of the staff, the comfort of the room and the location of the hotel. As it was a business trip I didn't have a chance to use the spa or eat in the restaurants (as we ate out) but will definitely be back.
They gave us probably the oldest room in the house. I stayed there 2 months ago and had a totally different room... Was because of booking via booking.com or because booking late? Who knows...
We liked the attention to detail and friendliness, helpfulness of the staff. Breakfast buffet was excellent.
Our rooms were in the new wing which is a fair walk from the lift with a number of confusing doors. Also the views from the rooms overlooking the courtyard were poor with some concrete constructions in front of the windows.
Location, efficiency, friendly staff
Location was fabulous. Hotel was clean, safe, quiet.
The service, the sun terrace, pool and gym area, the situation in Munich, the brekfast The smelling of the room
It offers so much inside that youeasily spend a weekend not leaving the hotel. There is a huge difference in the types of rooms available. the smallest rooms are really too small but are still well appointed. There was a significant amount of building work with associated noise.
Luxury environment, great music selection, very nice breakfast, great location
The rooms were incredibly spacious and the service was excellent. The beds were a bit firm, and they were the weird Euro style -- two twin beds made a king. Other than that, it was wonderful!
fantastic hotel, very helpful and friendly staff, upgraded us to a junior suite which was very spacious, would not hesitate to visit again
the staff were very helpfull;the hotel is quite and the view of the room is nice; the size of the room is execllent
Room ready for arrival at 2pm. Central location. Staff friendly, helpful and with very good command of English. Gym and pool very appreciated. No noise. Minor quibbles - I would have liked a CD player in the room (I know they could be hired) and a wider choice of English language newspaper.
Very clean - amazing rooms - great spa 30 Euro each for breakfast is very expensive ........ think it may have been worth it as it was excellent. Fine as we travelled as a couple - if my kids had been there would have been unaffordable!
Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful hotel about 500 meters away from the train station. Room, and bathroom large. Excellent service. Great SPA, There is absolutly nothing negative about this hotel, everything perfect. You get what you pay for and more. Highly recomend. nothing
We had a wonderful stay which was high lighted by the wealth of knowledge of the hotel conceirge .Glad we took his advice about restaurants & tours. The hotel is located in a great area for shopping & sights.
The Charles Hotel is a very top class hotel. The Location is great, a few min. walking away from the city center and steps away from the train station. The hotel is prestigous, very clean and comfortable. The restaurant and food is good. no wi-fi in the hotel. The internet connection is wired and expensive.
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the food in general was very good, cleanliness & the comfort of the Hotel also very good.
Very Clean. Quiet. Friendly staff. Reasonably large room, and very comfortable bed. Pillows could be in down instead of synthetic.
The service attitude was quite unique at the hotel, more than perfect. Breakfast is really good! I highly recommend deluxe room with park view.
The location of the hotel. Those who want to stay near the center of Munich and have the ability to walk there on foot should definitly consider The Charles Hotel.
Excellent service Bit expensive, breakfast very expensive and bar a bit small
Ambiance, cleanliness and nice staff
Classic and classy design, location, staff, breakfast, the music at the bar.
The decoration of the room and the free wi-fi. The exterior of the building
theirs great restraint for dinar and good serves rely thanx allot its mazing
The rooms are wll furnished, good high speed internet, excellent central location The Breakfast is a total rip off. It does not matter what you order, you pay €27. Thi sis simply outrageous rip off.
Good breakfast; good bar; room was good size and good facilities; health club was excellent; location is good TV broke twice in 3 days. Is there a problem with the TV's or with the power supply? Difficult to get room cool enough
Staff friendly and multi-lingual, clean rooms, excellent location and a nice ambience about the place. All pillows and duvets were feathers and the drinks in the bar are very pricey - 7,50 euros for a beer. No tea and coffee facilities in the room.
garden room service is a bit late
Comfortable rooms and very friendly service Expensive breakfast!!
This hotel was very comfortable and just outside of the train station. The town center can be reached via a 10-15 minute walk or train. The staff was helpful, fitness center good, and nice breakfast. Quiet, constant humming sound in the room like a vacuum being run in a distance. it did not affect our stay, however.
The interior was welcoming, spacious and the wonderful waft of spicey candles in the foyer induced an immediate response of relaxation. The room was large, luxurious and so comfortable. Staff were superb, friendly and helpful.
Staff was engaging and personal but still very professional Stay was not long enough..
Nice modern atmosphere and central location No tea and coffee facilities, breakfast room to small and always busy.
Staff was very helpfull and kind. They gave us a new renovated room and alot of helpfull tips about restraunts. The room was new and clean. The hotel is very close to main station which is good if you are traveling by train. Ibut if your intention is shopping and sightseeing, yhat means you have to walk a lot or take the tram for two stops. The lobby is very dark and crowded like a train station. We booked a double deluxe room for two nights ten days before the date, with a reasonable price and then when we want to extended the reservation to three nights they charged us very expensive price almost two times which is ridicolous. It must be the same price if you already have a reservation.
Convenient (but not scenic) location Clean Helpful staff Everything comes with an extra charge - internet, health club. Internet was the most annoying at 24 Euros per day for slow in-room wifi and 36/day for fast. It's robbery. Free wifi in the lobby means half the time you literally can't find a chair & it's really slow.
close to the shopping malls
Excellent location across from main Munich train station. About a 15 walk to the Marienplatz. Access to public transit close by. Staff was very friendly and helpful in assisting us with planning our three days at the Much Christmas Markets. Breakfast buffet was generous and varied in choices. The room was comfortable and quiet.
Easy access to S-Bhan Restaurant food could have been better
Solid location to use trams and trains. Also walking distance to city center. Airport shuttle across the street was great(it was 11€ each). The hotel it self felt very historic which I loved. Lots of cool art . Friendly and helpful desk staff. The bed was extremely comfortable. Our room was a bit expensive for just a basic room. being right next to train station it got noisy at times. The main elevator was shut down so we had to use the service elevator which was very small only enough room for 2 people.
good location nearby the railway station
Very friendly staff
location, helpful staff (though some seemed not too friendly), nice room with AC - not so common in Germany Had 2 different rooms - one much nicer than the other, tho price was the same. The room overlooking the main street was noisy at night
I have stayed here many times and have found it to be comfortable and pleasant. Excellent breakfast buffet. The people taking part in the special meetings were often very noisy.
Location and convenience, friendly and helpful staff, good restaurant, breakfasts. especially commend the conceriege -- Maximillian and Helga. The young man with the Irish accent was particularly helpful as well. Size and appointments of the room were very satisfactory, though hot- water pressure was erratic. The surrounding ambience was a bit unappealing -- the casino and male- oriented "recreation" establishment next door. The crush of bicycles was a nuisance. Did, however, appreciate accessibility to public transportation
Our superior room was absolutely beautiful and very spacious. Although breakfast had a good variety sometimes had to wait for a few things to be replenished, e.g. milk, cutlery, bowls.
Friendly, welcoming, helpful front desk staff. Bright, modern room. Modern bathroom with bath. Excellent breakfast. Overall excellent.
Very close to central station, clean, good breakfast, the room with one bed is very small
The rooms were very nice and the breakfast buffet was excellent. We had trouble adjusting the temperature in the warm and were quite warm at night.
Breakfast selection was good refreshed reguarly, easy access to stations and can walk to most attractions.
the hotel staff is friendly and approachable and thus make my stay more pleasant. the rooms are abit old and there are no aircondition which is very hot during summer
clean and cheap
location, service, cleanliness, hotel staff
Proximity to train station. Good hotel for non-sophisticated people like me. Furniture in the rooms looks outdated, question of style I guess. But functional.
Fair quality stay. High price for the room quality. Missing heating in the bathroom floor. Expencive www conection.
Incredibly good breakfast buffet. Surprisingly quiet room for such a busy area of Munich (room opened onto back alley lot) Extremely pleasant and hospitable staff. Room was a bit cramped, but good value for the price.
I asked them a quite room and I stayed in the quite room. Wifi isn't free, but I could use it for free in my room because of another generous hotel. (It opens it to all) Nothing is included (breakfast, internet ...) but not cheap. It's near to the train station, but at first it was difficult to find. They start to clean the room 9:20~40 in the morning and they just open the door. When I was in the room, they came back later, but they did it every morning.
Great option to stay in. Modern, confortable and the staff's kindness and professionalism is outstandingly great! Location is perfect, all the tours and the main train station is around the corner as well as the public transport (tran and bus) very centric and useful. Nothing really, everything was great... I would love something to eat at night or at least a vending machine though.
The location was excellent for a single mature woman travelling solo and using the train as the main form of trasport. All sights were in walking distance. Very good. The staff were friendly and helpful to give tourist information. For the price and location and on a budget I would recommend the hotel to travellers. Bathroom was small, but for one person was fine No fans in room when it got warmer.
Decent hotel for a decent price, recommended for those travelling by train - just next to the station if you choose to use the parking and drive a bigger car, reconsider. it's a true challenge to go in or out without a single scratch.
The hotel was new and so the rooms were still fresh, modernly appointed and barely worn. My wife and I were in Munich for Oktoberfest and one of our days there was a national holiday. The front desk staff were uninformed as to what was open or not (i.e., museums) on the holiday and were ill-informed about the hours of Oktoberfest which struck us as a bit unusual, nor did they make an effort to find out.
We had a group at the Treff for the Oktoberfest. This was a great hotel for the group close to the fest and close to the center. It is located in the middle of the red light district
Did not restock soap last 2 days. Heater was only marginal in sept. Hate to be there in dec.
Convenient location to station, Oktoberfest and city. Small room.
no blanket single sheet no face cloths
seemed that the hotel was a bit understaffed.
NIcely appointed standard hotel room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Walking distance to station and Marienplatz. There was a mechanical droning sound in the room which the hotel staff could not explain.
very clean and vwry nice/helpful staff
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was new and clean. The area or neighborhood was a bit sketchy, although we felt comfortable walking about just fine. There were no facecloths available in the room and I had to use a hand towel to wash my face every day. Also, there were no drawers in the room to unpack my clothes into, just a small closet. So I had to "live" out of my suitcase. Also, there was no iron or ironing board in our room.
Very clean & modern, helpful friendly staff, lovely breakfast, comfy beds!! cannot think of anything; it was wonderful!
Location, in front of train station and close to historical sites. Surprising very quiet. Bed very comfortable! No towels in the bathroom and staff took a hour to bring them. Call service never was available and tv system was not working properly. 160 dollars night for a hotel should be no more than 100 bucks!
The rooms were large and the furnishings were new and clean. Everything just felt comfortable. The location was great, right across from the Munich main station. You can go anywhere by the trains. Around the hotel are plenty of restaurants, bars, banks, supermarkets and other nightlife. You will not be bored. I have to give special compliments to the front desk staff as they were the most helpful team I've ever encountered. They attended to our every need with a smile and professionalism.
Across the street from the main railway station - if you travel with an early morning train, as I did, the location could not be better. Faux modernism of the interior
Front desk personnel were excellent in helping us. Your breakfast is expensive, but the main person was abrupt and the personnel were not attentive to my reuqests and sometimes no one was there to even ask.
friendly staff, clean room, nice decorated lobby, the location of the hotel.
Convenient location near train station, cleanliness, relaxed atmosphere.
A correct four-star hotel very well placed for train travellers and excellent value during the summer season. There is a very popular, but pretentious, wine-bar bistro (Lyonnais bouchon style). Many of the rooms are arranged in pairs so as to have adjoining bathrooms. In our room the noise from the neighbouring bathroom was disturbing, particularly after much beer drinking.
It was very near all the major city sites the cost of using the minibar
interior room, double doors to ensure the silence in the room expensive breakfast
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Excellent location within a seconds approximity to Main Station, S- abd U-bahn.Facing to pedestrnian street surround by shops and small restaurants. Very good breakfast and staff of the hotel. Rooms facing to the street are too noisy: you will hear all trams passing by as well as water falling in the bathroom of next room. Please ask a room facing the inner yard.
Service No air con
location, interior, cleanliness price of breakfast
Excellent location to db, very comfortable and Clean. There is restaurants front of the hotel provide halal food.
location and attitude of staff
I liked the location close to the main train station and the room. The double room should have had double bed. Also, breakfast should be included at the price paid.
close to Marienplatz and Pinotetka museums light from sign in our room all night
Great location, good sized comfy room, staff were helpful when needed but not pushy, excellent hotel security N/A
Air conditioning did not cool room below 27 degress Celsius and matress was very uncomfortable.
The atmosphere the room i was in was a very strange shape - long and thin - i felt a little boxed in as it wasn;t the standard square shape.
The Front desk staff are very welcoming and helpfull.. Maya was the best, she always exceed the Servise expectation. Bathroom is small
Straightforward check in; English speaking staff, late bar and good coffee machine in the room
Comfortable, friendly, good value for its location, more traditional in its decor, helpful staff, good location, close to railway station and 10 minute walk from Marienplatz
the price of the rooms was good there is no concierge in the hotel which make us having trouble asking what and where to go
Location convenient to the train station. The immediate area was rather seedy.
Excellent staff, great location, very clean....I would stay there again. $12 euros for a local call was crazy but this was on me not knowing the rules.
in the city center
Immaculate rooms and the feeling of luxury.
Good breakfast, good location Too annoing red colors of the corridor walls
Very original and artistic hotel and rooms decoration, the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, central location, nice breakfast, in generall an excellent hotel, high recommended!! Pay TV a bit complicated. Only one movie at a time and no information on which movies are played
Clean, spacious and tidy rooms, also good hotel staff. Wireless Internet inside the rooms shoud be free.
good location close to the trai station. nice rooms. would have been good if breakfast had been included in the price. also would have been nice to have had tea and coffee making facilities in the room
Great location near the train station. Modern clean rooms and we had a quiet courtyard room.
Beatiful two-story room with two living gareas
The hotel was very close to the train station and was very nice. One of the best hotels on the trip. A good deal!
Close to main station, free wireless internet, the staff was very nice and friendly, cozy and practical furnished room
The room was ok but not great. Best was quiet and good bathroom. The location is terrible it is in one of the worst parts of the city center in Munich. I would never recommend anyone to stay here because of the location.
It was centrally located and the staff were really nice. The room was always clean and it was great havinga small kitchen in the room. The room was at the front of the building and really really noisy and the internet did not work in the room at all...in the hallway outside the room but not in the room which was inconvenient as I was there for 7 days on business.
Very nice hotel. It has the feel of a small hotel even though it is quite large. The decor is very clean and modern. We stayed twice in the hotel and both rooms were a good size and well equipped. They provide a kettle with a range of coffee/tea and the rooms even have a small kitchen area with fridge, microwave and a 2 ring hob if you fancy self-catering. Bathrooms are modern and spotless with a good walk-in wet room shower. The hotel doesn't really have a lounge, although there are a couple of seats by reception and staff were quick to offer us a coffee on arrival. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of continental style options served in the breakfast room next to reception. They don't seem to have a restaurant or bar, but the hotel is in a central location and there are plenty of alternatives nearby (and again, staff were very helpful with suggestions).
Centrally located design hotel. Spacious room with great amenities. Excellent breakfast!
Nice, clean, spacious rooms with all the necessary amenities. The parking and the staircase were a bit run down. Dodgy area.
Had tea & coffee and kitchenette facilities. Nice size comfortable room. Nice breakfast. No shampoo, conditioner or body lotion.
A modern hotel, beautifully decorated in grey and white. Fantastic buffet breakfast. Quiet despite central location. No
