I rented through a third party, which was not clearly marked. Rentalcars.com. Our flight was cancelled due to torrential rains in New York City. We had to cancel our trip. Nevertheless, Rentalcars.com charged us the full amount. No recourse through Thrifty. I will think twice before using Kayak again,

Pros:

The drop off went fine. When I told the agent that we turned the car into about our horrible experience picking up the car, he deducted $10 off of the remaining fees.

Cons:

The pick up was the worst we have ever experienced. From the time that we arrived at the Thrifty counter until we were given the car, it was almost an hour. While we did receive a free upgrade, the wait was totally unacceptable. They gave us a coupon for 15% off of our NEXT Thrifty rental which probably should have just applied to the current rental.

Picking up from Cleveland Airport was confusing

Cons:

If my car did not come with a complimentary ant colony. Ants were all over me and my things, distracting me while driving.

The total cost was to be $177. Had me sign in early but did not have car available online so I did not pick up car till Thursday 7:42 as one was NOT available at the promised noon. The return was supposed to be returned to Hertz. At this point I have been charged: $263 8/22; $350 on 8/22 and $422.98 on 8/25. Can you PLEASE reverse these charges to the agreed amount $177?

Until the rental car industry drastically shortens the time from the time one walks up to the rental counter until pickup of the vehicle, I for one will not be happy with the pickup procedure. The return was quick and excellent. I was not aware of understood the breakdown of the final bill.

It was unusual because I rented the managers special EV and Follar has no EVs. Instead they took me to the Hertz lot to select a car.

Pros:

Staff was friendly.

Cons:

Windows were dirty. Shopped online for a good deal and pre-paid on Expedia, but then I had to pay another 160+ for fees that were not mentioned on Expedia. Feel like I got ripped off. When shopping for a good value, it's unfair to be hit with extra unexpected fees.

I waited an hour for the car. It was the wrong car even though I paid extra for it. I had to switch to a different car due to the cigarette smell and low pressure in the tire. There were extra fees that I did not know about.
