Tiny car - great price but...
Pros: The staff was really nice....the car was a bit beat up (but we were on an island) and the price was great.. $278 for an entire week.
Cons: When I arrived to pick up the car the staff member asked me if I wanted "pre-pay gas". I had a hard time making the decision so she reassured me that if I chose pre-pay that they would check the gas level and only charge me for the amount of gas needed for a full tank upon my return. Well as it turned out I filled the tank the evening prior to returning the car so the tank was full. The staff member proceeded to charge me an extra $50 even though she had got into the car to take note of milage and gas level. I talked to her about it and she immediately refunded my money.

Low expectations were met but not exceeded
Pros: It got the job done. Car was tight but we made it work. No mechanical issues, pretty clean. A/C worked.
Cons: Only two customers in front of us, but it was a 45 minute wait due to the slow clerk. No other car rentals had a line, and when customers walked up to those counters they were handled quickly. I was charged extra for several local taxes despite the quote listing that all taxes and fees were included. I also lost my cell phone somewhere along the way at the airport. I am unsure where, but when i called Payless to ask if anyone had turned one in, the first person to answer quickly said "no." No effort to ask around. Called back later, got a different clerk, and she seemed to make an effort before telling me no. But she then said "if you lost it on the shuttle, well, several employees and other customers would have been in there since then, if you know what I'm saying." You mean, you're saying that if a customer lost an item, your employees would steal the item for themselves rather than turn it in? Ok, great way to inspire confidence in your company and your employees. The car got the job done, so if I needed a cheap junker again to get around I'd still rent from them again if they were the best priced, but I'd look elsewhere first and use a competitor if all else was comparable.

Cons: Pick up and drop off slow and complicated compared to other options. Initially rented a car for four people that no way could fit four people and spent an hour exchanging cars and we were charged for the first car. Drop off process did not make sense and took 30 minutes. This is not something we're used to doing on vacation.

Easy pickup with no nonsense
Pros: No upselling. They actually live up to what they advertised.
Cons: Where to return the car was unclear. In reality, drive into airport as if you're dropping a passenger and then keep going. The rental drop off will be to the right after the terminal. Yes, in the parking lot naming most rental companies except Payless.
