Overview

Rating

There’s a lot to love about visiting San Diego. There’s the warm climate, the proximity to destinations like Sea World and the world-famous San Diego Zoo, plus the immense expanse of the Pacific Ocean. However, travelers will need somewhere to stay while in town, and the Hilton San Diego Bayfront is a worthy contender.

The Hilton San Diego Bayfront is, as the name suggests, located immediately on the water, offering expansive views across the bay and out to sea. The hotel offers a mixture of standard guest rooms and suites, and also provides accessible rooms when necessary. All guest rooms and suites feature modern amenities, including 55-inch or 65-inch LED televisions, the brand’s custom Serenity Collection bedding, work spaces, and both wired and wireless Internet access.

On property, guests will be able to experience a full fitness room, but there is also a jogging track and walking track available. The hotel’s pool is spacious and inviting, and there is also a full service spa available for those who want to indulge and relax. Children will enjoy the kids’ video rental and children’s activities planned throughout the week. Note that this hotel is also pet friendly, with a maximum weight limit of 75 lbs.

For dining, guests will enjoy access to the Fox Sports Grill for casual meals and libations, as well as Odysea, for liquid-focused enjoyment. There is a Starbucks on property, as well as Sweet Things Frozen Yogurt, the Pool Club, and Vela.

The hotel went on strike the second day I was there. Managers were trying to run what they could. Horrible experience Hilton would not put me in another. Kayak did nothing for me. Travelaro did nothing for us. We were stuck people yelling in megaphones from 7AM till nighttime We obviously prepaid, so Kayak and the hotel would do nothing. Using each other for an excuse. Why was my Wife and I put in...

There was a strike going on while we arrived on property. They had blow horns, mega phones, speakers, drummers. It was an awful experience. We woke up to loud noise and had a hard time falling asleep

All of the food staff was amazing but the front desk and concierge were smug and acted like they didn’t want to talk to you. Also there was a horrendous smell on our floor the first two days of our stay, but the line in the lobby was always very backed up and too long to inquire if they were aware of the situation.

They oversold the hotel. We arrived at approximately 10p and they told us that they did not have a room for us even though we had a confirmation.

Pros (+) We loved the amazing views of the bay and the Coronado Bridge! Everything was clean. We got to borrow a pack n' play for our youngest son with no issues. Being central to downtown was great because we were able to walk to many restaurants using the pedestrian bridge. Our kids also loved the pool and the little splash area with a slide. So fun! Would definitely return in the future.
Cons (-) Parking is expensive, hotel check-in took a really long time. It was memorial day though so it's expected. Not a fan of the urban resort fee. I thought that was a little excessive.

Pros (+) Excellent location.
Cons (-) Everything else could have been better. The staff was mediocre. They were not very friendly or accommodating. The parking is an extra $35 a day. We were never able to access internet and the times that we were in the hotel cell service was not very good. We travel several times a year. We have stayed at many different hotels that had friendlier staff and better accommodations. We were very disappo...
