I booked through Kayak and upon arrival at my destination they informed me they didn't accept the payment type I carry. “If you had booked through our website you would have known that.” I was really frustrated and thankful another company had me covered and even price-matched so I wasn't bent over a barrel due to the situation.

My arriving flight was delayed by a few minutes. Then, for no obvious reason, we waited 30 minutes to get our checked luggage. I was 15 minutes past the ‘pickup time’ that I had entered on kayak, and the desk was closed. After a frustrating call to the Budget Call Center, I was told the airport location closed at the exact time I had booked the pickup for, and there was nothing they could do for me. A warning when I booked it and/or a call or text before they closed up for the night would’ve saved me a lot of middle-of-the-night frustration at the airport.

Check in and check out was great! Quick and easy, efficient people working the desk. Didn’t like the price changed at counter verses on line. $10 more per day to upgrade from a van to a compact car. I requested a compact car being it was only me in the car. Doesn’t seem right!

I landed at 11pm to walk up to the counter for them to tell me all the cars were over booked. Will probably book through the car site next time.

Pros:

We arrived very late and the employee was fast and friendly and gave us a great car for the week.

Cons:

Really one of the best car rental experiences we've ever had. It was slightly confusing upon returning the car as there was not the typical employee out in the lot to check the car back in so we just went in and dropped off the keys at the counter.

Cons:

The chance of dropping the car off in Miami rather than at the same office as the pick up. An explanation about the difference in between the pre paid fuel tank option and the self filling. I shouldn’t paid for the pre paid as I wouldn’t do that amount of miles in just two days.

car had a flat, reserved midsize - got subcompact, replacement car also a subcompact and was filthy as well as only had 1/2 tank of gas and had not been disinfected. spent 75 minutes checking in and picking up car before we could leave

Cons:

I was originally given a pick up truck. I knew it was a busy weekend and they were likely sold out of cars. I explained I would be shuttling my mom around and it would be difficult for her to get in the truck. They took the time to clean a returned car. It was so appreciated! Thanks

Pros:

no, long lines and slow -poerhaps it was customer problems but the staff seemed to need help.

Cons:

They had to change my car me because they didn't have the car I ordered - they offered me a truck but they have problems with getting in and out, so the only thing they had has a small car, which I accepted, but they didn't offer me a change in rate. Said they had to get supervisors approval who wasn't there.

Helpful staff. Easy return. Thank goodness the navigation system worked as we used it to get to our destinations.

Cons:

The line to pick up rental was long; waited 1/2 hr-45 min as there weren't enough cars ready for the customers ahead of me to pick up. Staff also mentioned that they were short staffed that day.

Pros:

DID NOT LIKE At pick up there were only two ladies working. One was a manager of some sort. They were bickering back and forth because they had 12 people in line and no cars to give.

Cons:

Offer the people who had a reservation something because of Thrifty's poor planning. It literally took 20 minutes per person to rent a car. The long haired brunette asked if I wanted a midsize car and I said "no", I rented an intermediate. My rental was WAAAY over what I was supposed to pay.

Pros:

Staff at the counter not overly friendly, and there was confusion about what car we rented and needed as their current inventory was very low. We ended up getting a vehicle that worked, but it was different from what we booked. Returning the car was quick and easy, and the car itself was very nice.

Cons:

There were no cars on the lot when I had a reservation. I was given a cargo van. I then tried numerous times to switch the van into a new car. The staff was not helpful and didn't go out of their way to call me or update me when I asked them to.

Arrived after selecting a convertible. No convertible available, so they gave us a jeep with a hard top, and although you could remove it, the sections were large and we were in a hotel with no where to store them. Returned the same day instead of the 6 days we had planned. The staff at the airport were very nice.

I arrived and you did. It have the car I reserved..... Almist ruined our vacation. On top of that you charged me a no show fee which I had to call to get reversed. I will never rent from Avis again

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
