Pros: Everything -there was nothing to not like! Comfortable, great service, it was ideal.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The photos showed that it looked as if it was located on the water.
Cons: I thought the breakfast should have been much heartier and various.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every thing was absolutly perfect : the house, the location, the service and of course but not least the hostess. We really enjoiyed our stay and were sad to have to leave !!
Cons: We had to leave !!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved a lot about this place. The location was perfect for us--we were able to walk to dinner (a few different restaurants), the beach, and live music. They had bikes for our use that enabled us to explore the island--they were so helpful in assisting us planing our route. The breakfast was delicious and healthy--the freshest fruits, jams, breads, oatmeal, croissants, etc. (yum!) There was a front porch and back porch where we enjoyed our breakfast, and afternoon tea. We will definitely be back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I know Shelter Island well and I chose this property because of its location - it's perfect! The property is immaculately clean throughout. The kitchen was well appointed and very welcoming... everything one needs is there and is set up so you feel very much "at home". The art throughout the premises is striking and in very good taste. My bedroom was not large but very thoughtfully laid out and had everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable with very good linens. The bathroom very attractive and had all amenities; towels are thick and plentiful.
Cons: I had reserved a Queen room but the bed was actually a double. If I had been traveling with my partner, might have been a bit uncomfortable but it was fine for me.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and comfortable. Lovely art work and interesting books.
Cons: Would have liked a swimming pool but plenty of lovely beaches nearby with beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas provided by the B&B.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was wonderful. The staff was so kind and accommodating. The amenities were so great - from the beach towels to the bikes, to beach chairs, etc. We loved everything about our stay and will not plan on staying anywhere else ever again on Shelter Island!
Cons: Nothing could be better! Everything was the best.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the minute we arrived the detail in the presentation of this property and the welcome we received was outstanding. Often it's the little things that make the difference and at Seven, Beth and her team excel. We were provided an extensive list of things to do places to visit and restaurants to enjoy. All of the recommendations proved to be exactly as described. We took the LIRR to Greenport and chose to hire a car (Hertz) to get around which was ideal as taxis on the island can be expensive. If it's in the height of summer there are beaches and restaurants within walking distance but the weather was pretty inclement during our stay so the car was a must. Just a tip, the Hertz "Office" is a small desk inside the Greenporter Motel and the agent arrives at the time you have booked your car (so it's not manned all the time). It's a tiny operation but very convenient. Shelter Island is a very special place and would we return? Most definitely.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We opted for a few days away from NYC following a friend's wedding. We had no clue where to pick but Seven looked lovely from the photos. And it was superb. Excellent customer service, a clean and quiet room, and a delicious breakfast each day. It's a perfect location for easy access to beaches and restaurants nearby and further afield. We even hired bikes and used them to go out for dinner. All the staff were very friendly but especially Beth made us feel very at home and nothing was too much trouble for her. Seven is a relaxed home away from home and we shall be returning as soon as we can. And Evie (the weimaraner) was a treasure - she melted our hearts. Thank you again for a wonderful stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is exceptional and amazing. This is the only place I'll ever stay on Shelter Island. Every time I stay here, this place exceeds my expectations! Beth, the host and owner, and everyone else who works there are just magnificent.
Cons: Everything was PERFECT.

Pros: The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise. Not your run of the mill bnb!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a great stay. We stayed on a thursday night and it was a little more quiet than we had expected. The hotel restaurant didn’t seem to be open, but we went into town anyway. Overall a great getaway
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool and privacy. Lovely smell of lavender.
Cons: Not property fault. Loud landscapers next to hotel.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location was good, a short drive to Greenport which has a good selection of shops and restaurants as well as being the ferry port for Shelter Island etc. The inn was well located on a main road and easy to find. The room was a decent size, had a kitchenette and there was a good selection of basic toiletries.
Cons: It was in need of some good maintenance, general care and had a feeling of being tired and uncared for. The fan light in our room was hanging off dangerously; a blind was missing it’s adjustment pole; the front door had such a lot of space around it that it actually shed light into the room; the shower head was so old/blocked that it just sprayed water everywhere rather being a directional spray that actually washed you. The “tiled” bathroom walls are just some kind of flexible adhesive sheeting which was bubbling out from the wall in places and added to a sense of cheap, outdated fixtures and fittings. There was no breakfast, included in my booking details via booking.com, except on weekends which I wasn’t advised of. There’s no bar, restaurant etc. again apparently open at weekends. Given that we were staying mid-week in July and the inn was quite full, this seems an odd policy during the summer holiday season. I’d booked a king bed and the bed in our room was most definitely not that size. The noise from the room above was extremely disruptive to the point that I went to find someone in the office to ask for assistance only to find that after 6.00pm there’s no one available. It appeared that someone was jumping off a bed onto the floor (the only explanation we could come up with for the loud, repetitive, vibrating thumps on the ceiling) which got so bad the television in our room stopped working after an especially loud bang.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: No Breakfast included during week days.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Clean well kept room in close proximity of Greenport. Uber rates were very inexpensive, so we could enjoy our libations without worry. Fire pit and pool were great amenities. We wish the patio bar was open during the week. We would have purchased food and drink, but it was closed.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Local breakfast spot within walking distance
Cons: Porch light attracted bugs which entered my room everytime we opened the door.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Check-in was smooth- woman was very friendly. We had the pool to ourselves for a few hours which was nice. Very close to town.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and private
Cons: Wish it was a little closer to town
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, comfortable pool and picnic area. Set in a rural part of Long Island with beautiful beaches and farms within a short drive. Great to have a small kitchen in the unit.
Cons: Air conditioner was noisy.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful. They were always ready and able to answer any questions we had. It was close to the north ferry and very central to travelling around the island.
Cons: The walls in the cottage were very thin and noise travelled readily. Luckily the other guests were quiet and didn't cause us any problems. The hot water in the shower was long in coming and never reached optimal temperature except on our first morning there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the porch!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Quaint
Cons: The outside was swarming with bees. It probably was the time of the year but really limited our outdoor dining experience
6.3 Good
Pros: Great location, beautiful porch
Cons: No mention in any of their pre arrival communications that they were in off season and many restaurants still not open full schedule. No front desk staff on duty after 6 on weekdays. For rates charging in off season could use some refurbishing, inn needs an exterior paint job, stains on porch furniture. Room needed a fresh coat of paint.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very chic and quaint.
Cons: No TV.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location and view of the harbor.
7.5 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed, nice porch, convenient location.
Cons: Room was spartan, no dresser or television.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Chequit far exceeded our expectations. The rooms were so tastefully decorated, mixing a rustic feel with a mix of modern sheik. Cons: NOTHING. PERFECTION. IF U R A HEAD BANGER, ATTENTION SEEKING NARCISSIST GO TO THE HAMPTONS
10.0 Excellent
Cons: I would have liked if we could have stayed longer. Our hosts, Flo and Janine, were warm, friendly women. From our first meeting, we felt we had known them forever; that they were friends. The location was true to its name: "A Walk in the Woods"...our closest neighbors being a gaggle? of turkeys and Monty, the resident horse. I think I have his name correct; sorry Monty if I am wrong. We spent quite a bit of time on the wraparound porch, relaxing in any of several wicker chairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an incredible place hidden off the road. The house and grounds are spectacular. There is such attention to detail in both the decorating and service. Our room - the vintage rose suite- was bigger than our apartment! Flo and her daughter Janine were excellent hosts and made us feel so welcome. Will definitely be back!

Cons: There isn’t a sign at the turn off for the B&B. Even with our GPS we weren’t sure it was the right road until we were 500 ft up the road.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Quite, great hosts
Cons: Terrible internet connection, it is not acceptable for today’s standard
7.5 Good
Pros: The grounds were very well kept and pleasant
5.8 Okay
Cons: Room decor and breakfast
4.3 Okay
Pros: I liked the exterior of this home Veey pleasant porch for sitting.
Cons: There was a perfume smell throughout the main floor. The home is filled with antiques and old creepy dolls. The dining table is grand and always set for breakfast which to me felt dirty. With so much memorabilia, silk plants and old linens and drapery hanging the environment was not clean and fresh feeling at all. Our room was ok but once again, lace curtains and dusty silk plants everywhere. There was an old mini fridge in the room that was loud so we just unplugged it. It should be replaced. I felt the price I paid was outrageous. I should have done more research.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good. The B&B was spotless. Beds very comfortable. Very nice front porch. The B&B was very vintage. The host was very friendly and very helpful.
Cons: The location was in the middle of nowhere. Very hard to find. B&B was located on a private dirt road. There should be a sign where you have to turn and a sign to get into the B&B.

Cons: Having the NY Times there
5.0 Okay
Pros: The bed was extremely comfortable. The fenced-in backyard was perfect for our dog.
Cons: Be aware that the pet fee is $150 ($167 after taxes). This website states only that additional fees may apply. To be fair, the B&B's website discloses this fee, but this website did not, so we were a bit blindsided to be charged that much at the end of our stay. The owner was kind enough to refund us $75 of the fee, but I believe that if a hotel is going to call itself "pet-friendly," a $167 pet fee is outrageously high. Adding to the problem was the fact that there was no one to check us in when we arrived at 6:45 PM on a Saturday. We literally did not see an employee until they brought by breakfast the next morning (this is why the pet fee was tacked on to our bill at the end of our stay rather than at the beginning). The breakfast was also disappointing - just a stale croissant. There may be better food available when the restaurant re-opens but it was closed for renovations while we were there.

Pros: Lovely stay at the Shelter House. Only one night, but had a nice meal and enjoyed the overall atmosphere of the bar and restaurant. The room was great, had a relaxing and clean feel to it. Excellent staff. I checked to see if I could order more food late at night, and although they weren't serving, one of the managers gave me a beautiful bowl of delicious fruit on the house. The morning we checked out I asked to purchase a coffee mug that we used at breakfast and really liked, and the owner just gave us one which was very nice of her. Would def go back!
Cons: The bed was a little hard...not my preference
6.3 Good
Pros: Location, friendly innkeeper, beach chairs
Cons: The very loud and noisy air conditioning in the room!
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: I advised you of our inability to continue our holiday due to the death of my father in law. I was surprised when I received an email just after out scheduled stay asking how we enjoyed it. At that time I also told you it did not happen. There appears to be a disconnect within you company between your incoming emails and your standard messages that get sent out to clients. This is very poor as it is disturbing on the client and shows a lack of care and concern within your company, We will need to think twice before using you again. Not a good look.
Cons: See above.

American Beech Hotel - Greenport - Bedroom

8.7 Excellent (160 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Born from the name of the 75-year-old tree in the center of Greenport Village’s Historic Stirling Square, this former 19th-century horse stable has been converted to American Beech Restaurant, Bar & Hotel — an updated destination for unpretentious dining and dwelling stimulated by the vibrant North Fork region of Long Island.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff are exceptional!
Cons: N/a
7.0 Good
Pros: Being close to town and the town restaurants. The in house restaurant was not to our taste; too many unusual items.
Cons: The walls are too thin; we heard a running commentary from the cleaning staff in the next room starting at 9 am. The music from the bar downstairs thudded up through the floors until 10:30 both nights. The attic was being re-arranged right over our heads and the ceiling shook so much that the lights blinked until I went up there and asked them to stop which they did. Perhaps the other rooms are quieter but this one , #3, sure was not!

Pros: We came here for a night after our wedding and the room was just spectacular! The bartender down stairs was so lovely and helped us celebrate our special day with a compliment round of drinks. I would definitely stay here again!!!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Love the locations of both hotels. American Beech has a more lively vibe, very boho and centrally located to everything u would want. Aqua hotel beautifully situated on a private remote beach. Try to mix it up and stay at both. A lovely 3 day get away.
Cons: Pillows too soft in American Beech! But really not a problem. Personal preference.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location . Room size Restaurant Friendly staff
Cons: Noise from the Bar downstairs., Lack of a desk in room Noise from air con
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good restaurant for dinner.
Cons: Terribly noisy place. Avoid room #6 at all costs. Heavy road noise and it sits directly over a bar where the bass music pulsates throughout the room until 2am, the bar entrance door slams constantly all night, shaking the room until closing time, and the screaming cheers from bar patrons playing table shuffleboard is a steady nuisance. We had to move rooms after two terrible nights of sleep. With only 11 rooms in the hotel, moving sooner wasn’t an option.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, phenomenal rooms, loved the bikes!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The decoration, every detail is well done! Greenport is the most convenient place where to be based visiting the Hamptons: very easy to reach Southampton, Sag Harbour, etc, passing by Shelter Island with the ferries.
Cons: A bit noisy because of the bar/restaurant downstairs.

Pros: Great breakfast, pool and room was above my expectations.
Cons: The pool room and jacuzzi could use some cleaning. Also towels.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room size was great. Bed was comfy. Shower was wonderful.
Cons: The front desk lady (white woman) was very snappy & short. Also the breakfast team needs assistance because the young lady helping was very overwhelmed & it was taken out on a guest. They need an additional waffle maker.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The cleanliness of the hotel in the two or three younger guys who work at the front desk for fantastic
Cons: I had called four days before my reservation to see if I can have a late check-out the following day. The woman told me to call down Sunday morning of my check out to see if we could get a later checkout. Upon me calling down to the front desk she told me we can only stay one more hour past check out and not be charged. Ironically we left a piece of jewelry in the room and came back to the hotel two hours later and our room had not been touched yet, however we did get the watch. So basically this woman did not allow us a later checkout just for a power trip. They did not need the room. The two young man at the front desk for fantastic

10.0 Excellent
Pros: All good. Great staff. Well taken care of.
5.5 Okay
Pros: There was a cozy feeling in the lobby, the laughter of guests and energy seemed upbeat
Cons: We witnessed employees mistreat guests and talk badly about them, the manager was out right rude to woman in front of me. I minded my business and checked in, the room was on the 4th floor I have a disability but there were no other rooms available. Ok fine didn’t even think twice. Needed extra towels and toilet paper, asked same employee and I felt as if I was bothering her. Well, we were charged for 2 cars for 2 nights parking but only had only car, which didn’t get parked there overnight. Reason being, I went out out with family and left my 17 and 18 year old KIDS back at the room. There was a power outage from “an overload from air conditioning possibly” and “it was only for a little over 2 hours”. I rushed back only to realize the stairs were my only option and it was pitch black. My son tripped an smacked his face on the wall and has a bruise on his cheek below his eye. It was chaos and I had my son bring down some of my clothes and I stayed at my sisters house that night. I returned the next morning and well, the outright rudeness came out of that same manager her name was given to me only as “Dee”, I was not going to enter into an argument (as I had witnessed at my check in her argue back and forth with a guest regarding the shuttle and embarrass the guest who was not wrong, when the guest walked away she said “call an Uber”). So I got on the phone and on every higher level I was referred back to the location manager as the only person who can assist me. The customer service is a ring that sends you right back to the mouth of the lion. Go with Marriott I never had a problem with them, they were booked so I thought Hilton would compare. I felt a partial refund would have rectified the situation, I was charged I think $10 extra per person for breakfast and $40 for parking, not even a $50 credit would be considered. So I called back one more time, thinking there must be someone higher up then Dee, I was put through to a voice mail 2 days and left complete messa
