Pros:

Pick up and drop off was painless and easy. The Alamo counter is shared with National and Enterprise. Everybody was friendly and helpful.

Cons:

Car was outstanding, clean and practically new. Overall experience was great!

I called on 10/19/23 to confirm rental car pickup at Springfield airport; Avis rep confirmed airport pickup. Upon arrival I was told to pick up rental at Avis in Springfield. I had to take Uber (cost: $26.94) to Avis location in Springfield.

Easy drop off for very early flight. Prepaid fuel also a great idea. No gas stations open near airport.

I like the vehicle that I was given

Cons:

I have never had the best luck with Avis. Several times, I have been charged twice for a rental. And it’s taken over a month to be reimbursed. One of those times, I had to reach out three times to get my refund.

We did get an upgraded vehicle because there was no vehicle that we requested available

Cons:

The vehicle outside had been keyed heavily. No one from the staff came out to inspect the vehicle with us. This was a Dodge Caravan and literally, the passenger side sliding door came off the track and was not able to close completely. The wind noise from the door not closing was ridiculous.

Everything was great, car was ready, quick check out. My only issue is with the way the car insurance was handled. I paid an amount through Kayak which I found out was through a third party, which if I had an accident I would have been responsible to pay for the repairs and then would have been reimbursed through the third party. I'm sure this was disclosed in the fine print, but seems manipulative. I ended up paying an additional amount through Hertz directly, which would cover all repairs had there been damage or an accident.

Drop off was quick and easy.

Cons:

The place was hard to find! It was behind a strip mall with no signage on the street. The inside of the car could have been cleaner especially during Covid. We had to wipe everything down with sanitizing wipes before our trip.

Cons:

Booked online during travel. Got confirmation. Then called to confirm location was at airport. Reached destination airport to be told wrong location... AND NO CAR at any location because they called me and because I didn’t answer res was cancelled. I’m flying... that’s why I needed a rental car?!?!?!!! Agents at desk just did not care at all. Will never use the brand again ever!!!!!!

Pros:

Upon returning car, I expressed to clerk, Taylor, that front bumper was scratched when I initially picked up car. Taylor stated that wouldn’t be an issue since I initially picked up car in that condition.

Cons:

Receive phone call regarding scratched front bumper and I had to take the time to write an email and re-explain condition of car at time of pickup, along with pictures. Poor communication between the two Hertz car company. Customer service should have handled this situation. Hoping to soon be informed of the confirmation of my email.

Pros:

The fourth person I finally got to help me receive my money why back

Cons:

The fact that I made a reservation. They called me to cancel it. Told me I would not be charged. Charged me fully then only gave half of my money back due to cancellation ! ( which they did due to lack of cars) then took me a week to receive the rest of my money.

Pros:

The van was nice.

Cons:

We had a medical issue on our trip so was a half day late returning the van. Instead of adding another of our daily rates they charged me 4 times that amount stating the rates went up then a bunch of fees and taxes.

Cons:

I was given a upgrade that was a Chevy Tahoe rather than a midsize SUV. But that Tahoe had a leaky tire with three plugs in it and I had to keep pulling over and refilling the tire on on a long drive. Also they gave me a car that did not have the left rear turn signal working. Then when I went to turn the car in they said that I had change the car and they charge me $2000 instead of the 299 a week. I’m very disappointed. I will not be using national car rental again.
