The customer service was great. I think the young lady that helped me name was Evelyn. She was very nice and professional. She answered my questions. The rental process was easy. The only improvement would be to improve maintenance on the vehicles. The wiper blades were worn out. This can be dangerous when it rains and driving in St. Thomas.Reviewed Apr 26 2024

Pros:The fact that I got a car. The drop off was much smoother than pick up, staff who drove us to the airport for our departure was very nice.Cons:We showed up with lots of people waiting for cars after never receiving a shuttle ride from the airport as advertised. We then waited outside for an hour to receive a dirty car that was apparently the last one they had available. We had rented out a truck or similar car, however we’re told they do not offer that vehicle ever (we did see a truck parked in the lot). We received a dirty van that was very beat up and went on our way just happy to have received a car.Reviewed May 12 2021

Pros:Sadly, nothing. There was no car available for us as promised in our reservation. Thrifty Car Rental St John sayid that third party internet trial companies promise rental cars that they don’t actually have, so we were left high and dry. Horrible.Cons:Thrifty never came to the airport to get us. They barely answered the phone and when they did they put us in hold and never re-answered the phone. After over an hour waiting we had to get a cab to the off airport site, and only then did they tell us that our third party “reservation” was not valid in their eyes. Thankfully Budget Rental Car in the airport had a last minute cancellation that we were able to get there...and after I got back to the airport—again on my own—was able to get that car and continue with my vacation. Pros:Nothing about it went right. Terrible experience with my trip.Cons:The rental car place wouldn’t even answer the phone and cancel my reservation. When I did get a hold of them they advised me to call back later and they have been overbooked and never had the car. They didn’t care was on my own.Reviewed Mar 16 2021

Pros:Staff was friendly enough.Cons:Pick up experience was not good, car was poor. Mid day while all other rental companies were present with shuttles, we had to call to get picked up at airport. All was prepaid on credit card so expected to simply sign for car, decline insurance, load up and go. However, initial car provided was not in lot where we were told it was so 4 of us spent about 10 mins in mid day heat after long flight with zero assistance from Thrifty searching lot for the car...it was in a different part of lot, boxed in by another car, it had 2 flat tires so we had to switch cars. I did notice it had power convenience features but was significantly dinged and dented. Subsequent car had no power convenience features so manual windows and locks..locks was a pain since we had to continually remind each other to lock vehicle. Also car was severely under performing...major hesitation when stepping on gas, had a lot of trouble getting up hills on St. Thomas even when only a driver in car and I only weigh 190 lbs. This is not the quality of car that was advertised nor is it what I expect from Thrifty having used them for many years corporately.Reviewed Nov 3 2019
