Newark terminals have gotten better. Security lines were quick. And efficient.
EdmondFlew with LufthansaEWR-BCNJul 2025
The Airtrain service is now under construction, so one rail is closed. So it would be better to get to the airport by not using the train...

Eat and drink before boarding. Snacks. Hand gel and surface wipes . Don't expect a window if in a window row.

Try and bring your own water on board

It’s a long flight. Find the most comfortable travel pillow it helps a lot.

Bring snacks and your own water bottle to stay hydrated.
Verified travelerFlew with Alaska AirlinesEWR-SANFeb 2025
My flight was not delayed, but my family had a flight earlier in the week that was, by 5 hours. My daughter says she'll never book a late afternoon flight as they seem most likely to be delayed. I personally like the timing and usually they cost less. Also, get on the plan with fully charged devices or a non-electronic form on entertainment.

Long walk / train to rental counter Newark from manhattan is faster than jfk

For families, don’t expect your strollers to arrive at the airplane’s door.
deepakFlew with Spirit AirlinesEWR-MIADec 2024
Do not check in baggage and keep everything in carry on as much as possible. Also this is a cheap flight with cheap service so expect anything to happen
StephenFlew with United AirlinesEWR-ORDJan 2025
Don't bring a carry on roller bag. It won't fit. They will gate check it. It will take forever.
Verified travelerFlew with Alaska AirlinesEWR-SEASep 2024
Buy something in the airport to eat before boarding as its a long flight and the snacks are not enough unless you plan to sleep the whole ride.
MaryFlew with American AirlinesEWR-DFWSep 2024
Bring a charging cable for your devices and I always wear compression stocking on flights that are 2 hours or more long.
SanjayFlew with LufthansaEWR-MUCSep 2024
Golden rule for connecting flights in & out of Europe. Minimum 3 hour layover.
AnastasiaFlew with LufthansaEWR-MUCSep 2024
Keep plenty of time for security searches, they are unpredictable.
patrickFlew with French BeeEWR-ORYSep 2024
Make a plan for parking and give yourself time to park, the long-term lots are a dystopian hellscape, mixed with an outtake from the Sopranos. My GPS had trouble navigating all the access roads and elevated roads.
Verified travelerFlew with Alaska AirlinesEWR-LAXJun 2024
Make sure to get food before you get to the airport. Bring chargers for ur phone or your technological device.

Was really easy , make sure only to take out any computer device out your bag for tsa control.

If you have the space, pack your own food, just make sure it’s not smelly.
HashemFlew with United AirlinesEWR-LHRJul 2024
I don’t think any airline has the best boarding. Maybe American Airlines has the most comfortable and up-to-date airplanes. Always go super early to any airport leave an apple AirTag in your bag always ask Agent if your chair and or seat will be properly working
JuliaFlew with United AirlinesEWR-FRAJun 2024
If you are flying out of Terminal B, give yourself plenty of time. There was only one security line for gates 60- and up. Took almost an hour to clear security.
AlexFlew with United AirlinesEWR-TLVJul 2024
Do what you can to afford at least premium economy.
BerniceFlew with Alaska AirlinesEWR-SANJun 2024

Flights tend to be full. Get to gate early.
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaEWR-YVRMar 2024
The Newark international airport was a breeze! Through bag check and to my gate in less than 10min! Make sure you bring your own food onto the plane, otherwise you are stuck buying from their bistro menu. Food vendors seem quite limited at the terminal.
Verified travelerFlew with Alaska AirlinesEWR-PDXMay 2024
Bring a lot of entertainment or sleep through it. Make sure you get up and walk at least once but preferably up to 3 times to avoid leg cramps.
CocoFlew with Singapore AirlinesEWR-SINMay 2024
please dress comfortable ... even if you have to put on your pj , bring your favorite snacks wear compression socks
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaEWR-YYZMar 2024
Boarding is ok with Air Canada, though their staff needs training to be efficient without being passive aggressive. They also repeat their announcements too often, over and over again. Not pleasant. You can be very efficient with a bit of class. Getting the Travelers nervous doesn't help anyone. MIA is a great airport for departures as the terminal entrance has specific doors for each Gate Sector. Example: if your Gate is G4, There's a drop off door for G. Less walking, less seeking, excellent system for Drop Off of passengers
Verified travelerFlew with Aer LingusEWR-DUBApr 2024
JFK is an amazing airport, they have TSA precheck which was not offered when I flew Aer Lingus/Newark. The TSA precheck line took a long time, they only had 2 machines and a few agents working. Other than that Newark was as any other airport, easy bag check in process and gate seating area was clean and comfortable.
Verified travelerFlew with United AirlinesEWR-SDQApr 2024
Early check in online, get on time for the flight
MasakoFlew with Alaska AirlinesEWR-LAXApr 2024
Newark has few food options so pack something if you can. It’s not worth getting food at Newark.
Verified travelerFlew with British AirwaysEWR-LHRFeb 2024
BA is the only check in located on the first floor of Terminal B behind the baggage ans escalators. It is very hard to find. However, arriving early meant check in was a breeze and NO LINE at security. That has never happened at any airport. They are doing it right.
JeffreyFlew with United AirlinesEWR-SAVFeb 2024
If you do not have Precheck then get there early since the line can be very long. If you have trouble walking get a wheelchair or find on the carts going thru the terminal. It is a long way to the furthest gates.
andrewFlew with DeltaEWR-ATLJan 2024
is you have a choice LGA new terminal is awesome compared to Newark or JFK
Verified travelerFlew with Alaska AirlinesEWR-SANFeb 2024
Allow time for TSA (I had) or figure out the priority boarding (I didn't but will look into it for future flights), I thought they were pretty inefficient. A guy behind me was freaking out because he was going to miss his flight and a bunch of us let him cut the line in hopes he could make it.
yvgeniFlew with United AirlinesEWR-ORDJan 2024
Check the weather before flying , and don’t rely on getting on time to your destination
SidneyFlew with Spirit AirlinesEWR-ATLFeb 2024
Give yourself time when coming through New York City and Penn Station.
EvanFlew with DeltaEWR-ATLJan 2024
Newark AirTran isn’t great. It’s slow and a long walk to terminal A from the train stop. Everything else was fine.
