We got an alert stating that the flight was going to be delayed but we were already almost to the airport when I received the first message on my smartphone. We received three additional alerts making our total wait time at the airport 5½ hours before we could approach the gate and board the aircraft. Seating in immediate gate area was not comfortable. Boarding was chaotic at best with very little control and guidance provided by Delta staff. The audio over the PA system was difficult to decipher much of the time. The only other available boarding status information was presented on the screens stationed near the gate and indicated PREMIUM the entire time during our boarding process and was never updated. We literally had to scramble through the crowd to get to the gate desk and get our boarding passes validated so we could board our flight with our group of passengers. Our seating on board the aircraft was thankfully good which is why I rated Comfort as Okay. We were saddled with one more delay after the flight left the gate and taxied briefly down the runway and then sat there for almost an hour. My suggestions to improve customer satisfaction based on my experience would include the following 1. Provide extended alerts for passengers travelling especially if the anticipated delay is known to the airline more than 2 hours before scheduled flight time. 2. Improve seating in the waiting areas near all Delta gates. 3. Re-orient all staff in proper boarding process and utilizing all available resources properly to provide clear and intelligible (not speeding) overhead audio messaging and current boarding status prompts on displays. 4. Maintain or replace audio equipment if necessary to help improve quality of audio messaging in all boarding areas."

One guy told her she could board but the gate agent said no it didn't fit and she couldn't board. Then the agent claimed she had to gate check her bag and claimed there were no overhead spaces left. So everyone after that had to gate check. When I boarded there were at least 8 empty bins and I had not even gotten to my seat in row 22. The gate agent lied and slowed down the entire boarding process because she want to win a fight and show dominance over a passenger."

They didn't seem to be very accommodating or apologetic and I didn't even offer compensation to those who had to stay overnight to wait for the next flight out. C'mon AA. Step it up! I would think that if you cancel a flight, you should help your customers get home the same day. Do whatever you can. I don't think you did whatever you could for most of us on that flight."

Pros: "Super cheap flight to NY that flies into LGA. The Airbus was very clean and had great ventilation (even, comfortable temperature and no weird smells). The crew and passengers were upbeat and created a fun atmosphere. Perfect flight for short trips if you travel light."

Cons: "Where do I start? Going to Vegas (from Chicago), we sat on the tarmac for 90 minutes with no explanation. We finally took off after that, and no attempt was made to regain lost time. In fact, the flight took even longer after we were up than the original plan. The seats were very uncomfortable. I don't know if the seats on the return trip had more padding, but there seemed to be a noticeable difference between the two flights, not just by myself, but noticeable in the lack of squirming on the second flight by everyone else as well."

I paid extra for a specific seat, and when another passenger took it, a flight attendant gave me a hard time when I asked them to move. I was unaware that I'd have to pay $40 just for a carry on until AFTER I booked the flight, in which case I would've just chosen a better airline."

I did not receive any message or alert that the flight was continuing to be delayed. I've never experienced anything like this before. And nothing was done to better the situation."

Also by the time I added an additional 65.00 for baggage my flight ended up costing more than if I would have taken a classier airline."

Yes you guys charge for everything and the planes are old and not much seat leg room, but its expected based on the price! Over all a great flight for our money! It took forever to figure out when the next flight would be, everyone was mad, I had to stay the night at the airport.
