Their excuse was that both the kayaks and paddle bags were 2 inches too long. .. TWO INCHES!!!!!! We had record of the person we talked to and the time and date, but none of that seemed to matter. It caused A HUGE INCONVENIENCE for us since we are in Zambia for 6 weeks without our gear to paddle one of the most challenging rivers in the world... the Zambezi. Now we are constantly trying to acquire the proper equipment with very little success. We run a nonprofit called the Montana Kayak Academy which provides free whitewater instruction to youth between 8 &18 yrs old and we will be sure to tell everyone we know to NOT TRAVEL WITH EITHER VIRGIN ATLANTIC OR BRITISH AIRWAYS.... EVER!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Cons: "I found the seats on this Virgin Atlantic A340 flight from LHR (London Heathrow) to LAX (Los Angeles), an eleven hour flight, to be unacceptable. The seats were very crowded. I am six feet tall, and was very uncomfortable all during the flight. I could not sit with my knees together. I had to spread my knees to sit comfortably. Holding that position for eleven hours was very uncomfortable. Anyone taller than me would have even more trouble. Also, every seat has a very large box underneath, I presume for the audio/video system. This is a terrible location. There is very little room to stow anything. But much worse, I couldn't straighten my right leg. All-in-all, I found the seat situation totally unacceptable. I will likely never fly Virgin Atlantic again because of this."

Although the entertainment system had many options, going through lists and playing games required a lot of tapping, and in some cases pushing to make the system work. I felt like I had a woodpecker sitting behind me pushing on my head non-stop for over two hours. I was starting to go insane! Besides, it was so loud near the back of the plane that I couldn't hear anything through my cheap headphones."
Cons: "We could not eat any of the food. My son, my husband and I do not eat and/or are allergic to gluten, dairy, corn, soy and other food additives - as I mentioned above. Please have an option of food not swimming in sauces or cheeses. Plain organic chicken breast with steamed rice pilaf and steamed carrots would be nice. Maybe some steamed red potatoes and a piece of steak. An organic green apple for dessert. Forget the gluten, dairy, sugar or sauces that ruin a perfectly good ham or chicken and lettuce, tomato wrap! Or a salad swimming in dressing. We need to eat protein, not gluten for breakfast. Why not a hard boiled head!"

Cons: "The connecting flight from Atlanta to NY was rescheduled for an hour and fifteen minutes later, boarding for the delayed flight started late, closed doors were another 20 minutes late, spend another hour or so waiting for confirmations, during which no AC is on because of a malfunction on the plane with the electricity unit. Due to rough air conditions, no in-flight service, or very limited one - and all of those are fine by me, and not the airlines' fault at all. But then, during all these unexpected conditions, I can't even use the in flight entertainment system as i use Bluetooth earphones, and to get earphones I have to buy them for 2$. To earn excellent service, inspite of all the delays, AC malfunction and unpleasantness all you had to do was give those 2$ earphones for free. I have another flight with SkyTeam coming up and I do hope it won't be as unpleasant as it is a much longer flight."

And yes, we checked in together. There were lots of confusing messages"

The ticket agent, the gate agent and the cabin crew all did nothing to make up for the fact that their system screwed up and stuck me in a cramped coach seat in the back of the plane for 11 hours-- TWICE! Beyond that, KLM must have one of the oldest fleets in the sky. Both ways LAX->AMS->LAX, I was on a 30-35 year old 747 with no wifi, no power and a ten-year-old entertainment system. Never again."

Cons: "Charging customers for meals on a transatlantic flight is a terrible way to nickel and dime your customers for the most basic provisions. Not all travellers carry accepted credit cards, including the woman sitting beside me. Because it is so common (formally standardized) for airlines to provide food on longer flights, many travellers assume their WestJet flight will the same and arrive unprepared. I normally love WestJet for their customer service, but these flight attendants talked down to customers with legitimate questions. I am choosing another airline for my next international flight, although reluctantly so - I hope to see some changes from WestJet for a more comfortable flight."

Pros: "Our choice to pay the upgrade to Plus seating was WELL worth the cost. My husband and I had never flown 'first class' before and thought on this almost 9 hour flight we would give it a try. Wow! Seat comfort was fantastic. Service was wonderful. Food was great. We were made to feel like royalty."

Cons: "3 hours early for international flight, which was then delayed 3 hours. Then another hour at LaGuardia waiting for 2 $40 taxis to take 5 of us downtown. Ugh. WestJet terminal crew were flustered and uninformed. Terminal 3 at Pearson had inadequate seating. Sitting on the floor for hours isn't appreciated."

Cons: "Flying out on December 24, the airline kept us at the airport for 6 (including 2 hours on the plane) hours before cancelling the flight because they could not get water pressure to the washrooms. We were supposed to leave for London (LHR) at 8:35pm and were notified of the cancellation at approx 2am on December 25. The only other flight that would be available would be on December 25 at the same time the 24th flight was supposed to leave. The service desk was not taking any requests for finding or re-booking flights, we were supposed to call their support number at 7am on the following day. We were offered cab fare accommodation from and back to the airport. They offered hotel stay which I passed on. They provided $60 of airport food that could only be used at certain restaurants, not compatible to purchase chips or drinks (non-alcoholic) from other stores. The coupons as compared to Air Canada, which are valid for a year were only valid for 24 hours. In the end the only "monetary" compensation I got from WestJet was 250 westjet dollars that expire in 12 months."

Not gonna lie, I was able to ask them for both a couple times, and they obliged."

In hindsight I think she could have given us a little more grace given the age of the baby and length of flight, or at least have explained the situation more politely!"

The stewardess dropped off the meal, which was pasta with a side of pasta salad (no vegetables in the vegetarian option..), while I was sleeping. My girlfriend asked for wine to go with our meals, which we were charged for at an additional cost. The wine arrived an hour and a half after our meals arrived. Later in the flight, a stewardess dropped off a Turkey croissant sandwich on my tray table, waking me up for the second time that trip. I called the stewardess back and explained that I hadn't ordered a Turkey sandwich. She explained that a sandwich came as part of the meal I ordered. I stated that I would be happy to receive a sandwich, but that the Turkey did not correspond to the vegetarian option I had specified. She proceeded to take the sandwich away, and did not return for the remainder of the flight. I have issues every time I fly with WestJet; poor performance, service, and customer relations. I've travelled on 7 different air carriers in the last 28 days, and WestJet is by far the worst. I paid €19 for a flight from Munich to Brussels from a WestJet competitor, received excellent customer service from smiling stewardesses, complimentary Beer and Wine, and even chocolate and a snack. I paid over €500 to fly with WestJet, and received nothing but a resurgent sour taste in my mouth. I've given second, third, and fourth chances with WestJet but I believe they have lost my business forever at this point. Truly disappointing to say the least."

I finally got the travel agent (justfly.com) on the phone and they told me I have to call 24 hrs in advance with any change to the ticket. Desperate to get to Lisbon, I booked another flight at around $800/one way and was driven from Newark airport in Nj to Jfk in NY where I made my flight. In sum, I left my family on Chrismtas day to travel and wasted Hours upon hours and lost a ticket valued at more than $700 only to have to buy another at $800. I've been traveling for 20 years and have never had such a terrible experience. Even with "restricted" fares the agent is always willing to help in some form."

I am grateful that they flew my luggage the next day and delivered it to my hotel. I would understand this happening if I had a tight connection time, but I didn't. It was actually 1.5 hours extra time since my flight came in early."

Cons: "Due to delays because of maintenance issues, I had to wait at LHR for 9 hours! I was given 2 meal vouchers which I could not use because I have dietary restrictions and the airport had no place for me to get food. I was not expecting such a long delay and hence did not have a change of clothes/jacket or anything. The airport was ridiculously cold and I had to spend 13 pounds out of my own pocket in order to buy a cheap blanket to keep me slightly warm at the airport. The customer service refused to even allow me to use the lounge for a little while to get some shut eye or freshen up. When it was finally time to board, at the last minute, the crew announced that they were having maintenance issues AGAIN and we were delayed by 1.5 hours more. CRAZY! Lastly, when i reached Mumbai and opened my bag, my iPhone which was stowed away in my checked in luggage had disappeared. Very very disappointed by the service and lack of customer care."
