The flight never happened. Kayak you should know that as we asked you to get us a refund. I was told personally by Thew Avianca office in Cuenca that we are going to have to wait at least 4 months for the refund. This is not good enough. We are going to the credit card company, as obviously Kayak is not helping us with this issue. So HOW was my flight TERRIBLE !!!!!!!

As expected, I was NOT asked for ANY proof of return when entering El Salvador. The Avianca staff was uninformed, wrong, and rude. They showed no interest in listening to us or helping us solve this problem. I will now have to call and cancel this ticket, and fight to get the $25 ticketing fee refunded. Do not expect great service from Avianca."

They have 3 different economy packages and the economy basic doesn't get refunds and you can't change the flights if needed. It feels like they are banking on increasing there ROI with this basic economy ticket which is 40 -60 dollars cheaper than the next economy package. Intuitively they know people will pick that, but if something comes up the customer is screwed."

To top it off the co-worker i was traveling with didn’t get charged due to the inconvenience and delay. i travel a lot with United (higher status than him) and would have liked that offer (and not get charged one i didn’t order) being a mileage plus and credit card holder. I did go on line and ask for a credit and they did make it right and give me a credit."
Pros: "We were forced to re-book this leg of our trip because of "insufficient" layover time. The United Airlines staff helping the numerous customers that were forced to re-book were not friendly, did not function with any sense of urgency and were as minimally helpful as possible with the inconvenience. After exiting customs we had 30 minutes to get to our gate, instead of offering to take us to the front of the line to get through security faster we were simply told we would not get through it in enough time to make our flight. Initially we were not even told we were going to be re-booking our flight, we were only told that we needed to re-check our bags at the counter after exiting customs. The entire interaction was very frustrating."
Pros: "I went to go talk to an employee about my flight boarding without me, when an Edwin Rodriguez of EWR New Jersey United Airlines employee started screaming at me. He told me to “wake up” and go run after my flight then while going after my flight he yells at me to come back. He apologized a few minutes later and then proceeds to yell at me again. My flight was canceled and reset for a later time. I have prior medical conditions that Edwin Rodriguez agitated through consistently harassing me at the help desk and am now in distress. I’m being relocated due to active duty military service and this is how you treat military veterans and their families."

It got a little better but still stayed on the warm side the rest of the way. Your boarding process makes no sense and does nothing to get passengers settled faster. After priority seating is done, let the people in the BACK of the plane board first, then the middle section passengers, then the Eco Plus passengers."
Cons: "When I was boarding the flight from Denver to Jackson the ticket agent was extremely hostile and rude. I was carrying a back pack and a small purse strapped across my shoulder which was maybe 4"x6". He shouted at me after I had handed in my ticket and started down the gangway that my purse needed to be in my backpack. I have never heard of such a thing in all my years of travel. I complied and started to put my purse into my backpack when he shouted at me "Ms. Derbyshire get back here now! You cannot be past the counter!" Your employee was rude, hostile and made me very upset as well as the other passengers waiting to board. Later other passengers who witnessed the event told me how upset they were. Sadly this is not the first time I have had issues with United. Clearly this type of behavior is in your culture. There is no need to shout at anyone."
Cons: "Our flight was delayed which caused us to miss our international connection. Flight attendants did not care, did not attempt to get us out faster, or put on a different flight. Asked for an announcement to be made on board or to be moved to seats closer to the front so we could get off the plane quicker, did not happen. Offboarded and sprinted across the airport for our international connection and was notified by gate attendents that the gate closed five minutes ago and that they could not let us on the plane. Meanwhile, the plane sat there for an additional 30 minutes while it fueled and waited for release from air traffic control. There were six travelers total stuck there in San Fran at that gate, all of us begging to be let on the plane to Beijing, the last one for over 24 hours. Zero compassion from staff at the the airline gate. They did not care about us and did not care about leaving their travelers stranded. Our total travel was Denver to Bangkok, 26 hours of travel including layovers in San Fran and Beijing. In San Fran (after missing the gate connection), United rerouted us through Haiwaii and the customer service agent that did this reroute did not finish the reroute to our final destination. We got to Haiwaii and were stranded again, at the United service desk for four hours having to once again provide documentation of our initial travel plans to Bangkok, having them build a new itinerary to our final destination. Overall, 20 additional travel hours have been added to our itinerary, almost double our initial travel time. We have had to call and cancel pre-arranged bookings in Thailand as we are now missing two full days off our trip. I am absolutely disappointed and heart broken as I write this still stuck in the Beijing airport waiting another six hours to connect to Bangkok. My fiancé and I were traveling to Thailand to get married and have received no compassion from anyone at this airline to try and get us there. I fly United for work quite frequently and have never experienced such horrendous service and lack of basic human compassion. I am flat out disgusted by United and will not be using them again, for personal travel or work related trips, because of this horrendous experience."

I got it in the end with an apology from crew but I still don't feel terribly safe Also, the paid entertainment system that my neighbors purchased seemed to be down with static for a portion of the flight."

The only two seats together from Houston to Seattle were in the very last row. And, on our return flight we had to purchase Economy Plus in order to sit together."

Thought it was ridiculous that we had to go all the way to original gate when we were told we would be loading again on the gate next to the one we just came in from."

I was suppose to land in BJX At 6am on Friday April 28th for a family emergency and now my next flight isn't till 1pm! This is the worst flight experience I have ever had in my life. Never in my life will I ever fly with united again. My plans got ruined, I was forced to sleep on the cold dirty floor of LAX. This cost me a lot of time and money, and I am upset about it. I will tell all my peers about this horrible experience and encourage them to never fly with united ever again. I do expect some sort of compensation over this horrible experience."

(I am 70 and 4 hours is too long to sit) I usually get an isle seat but ALWAYS have to give up my bag at the gate - my bag which you tell me I can bring ON the plane with me. I do not like having to waste time claiming my bag that you told me I could have with me on the plane. I can pay $25 for that privilege!! The flight attendants always seem like they have their defenses up. One even held up the people trying to board so she could serve a drink to someone in first class. REALLY?? They couldn't wait till the plane was loaded?? I gave this flight a 'good' rating because it was mostly as good as it is going to get with economy passengers needs stripped to the bare minimum."
Cons: "EVERYTHING. My flight was originally scheduled for 650p. I understand that weather can cause delays. That's OK. However, the flight departure kept getting shifted. We ended up boarding for a 9:58p departure. I was told there was no more overhead space for my bag and forced to check it. When I got on the plane at 930p, there was clearly enough overhead room for my bag. I'm not sure why I was forced to check it. We then sat from 930p to 958p. We pulled away from the gate and then were told that we had to wait another 20 min. We turned off the engine and then waited until sometime between 1130-45 ON THE AIRPLANE on the runway. Is this even legal?? We finally took off and landed at 115a PST. I waited for 35 min for my bag that they forced me to check. They loaded our bags onto the wrong carousel, which caused all of us to be waiting for our bags in the wrong place for 10 minutes. This was the worst experience I've ever had flying. It wasn't the delay but the lack of clarity, being forced to sit on that plane for hours, and having my bag taken. I got to the airport in Denver at 550p PST and got home to SF at 3a PST for a 2 hour flight."

I don't think I should get free everything because I am tall, but it's not like I am fat, I have no choice in the matter and flying tends to be tortuous."

Front desk had already boarded all 5 groups before realizing there was not enough overhead compartment space causing at least 50+ passengers to circle back to the plane door to check in their baggage. Flight crew and passengers had to hastily reshuffle overhead luggage causing inefficient boarding process and confusion during unboarding process. Baggage claim went to a different carousel than the one stated."
Cons: "Upon approach we were suddenly deverted to Seattle. I had a few issues. Number one you could not hear the pilot so that made it worse. The lack of communication was horrible. I have been on flights when there has been clarity given a change in plans but this was bad. We sat at the gate for an hour and a half, again no real communication, the fligh attendant t hope was joking when he said there was a half a bottle left for the whole plane...much later we were served water. Announcements were made but no clarity. We were told to collect baggage at number 2. Get a voucher for a hotel. After deplann9ng about 25 of us stood in line at the customer service desk where there were two staff working slowly. Then after an hour they announced we were in the wrong place, couldn't that have been explained earlier? Once we made our way out of the terminal to the ticket count the line was all the way down the hall. still with little info we waited. We landed at the alternate airport at 945, at 130am I had my vouchers, the food not useful until the following day, the hotels were full, no one picked up the phone for the shuttle bus to the hotels. I finally elected to sleep at the airport on a bench. We had actually all been reassigned a flight on our same plane. So I am not sure why we had to wait in line all that time. Our bags were not removed from the plane an irritated baggage claim attendant told me. It was a mess. The flight the next morning was fine, short, without problems for me. united needs to work on its communications. It would have been helpful to have someone out side running the line giving out info. And at customer service they should have been paying attention to their line. Would have been helpful."

Upon return to Albuquerque from Denver bag was not on my flight so I had to hang out in Albuquerque although, I live an hour away because I have prescription meds in my checked bag I need to take 4 times daily. Would not fly United again"

Boarded plane about midnight and after ninety plus minutes we were made to deplane because current crew was over their allotted airtime. Kept on plane awaiting a new crew but they couldn't get them so flight cancelled. Attendants told us we would be compensated for cancellation. A big airline like united should have a better grasp on scheduling flight crews and stand bys available instead of putting us through this hell. No hotels available so we all had to stay overnight in uncomfortable chairs with many sleeping on floors. I felt bad for myself as a 69 ur old woman with some health issues but felt even worse for the parents flying with little toddlers who just wanted to go home. The day of my flight Denver had 8" of snow that stopped by 9am yet I couldn't get a flight out till the following evening. Psp to Denver to Newark should have taken six hours but took me over 38 hrs of travel time. Denver should be used to snow and 8" shouldn't cause such extreme disruption at that airport. And united needs to better coordinate its flight schedules and working crews. I will be contacting customer service regarding compensation as cancelled flight was due to company musmagent. Finally it would have been nice if united opened its club to the travelers who couldn't get hotels. Sitting in a comfortable place would have been so much better especially to the elderly and small children traveling. Thank you"

I don't like the fact that you have to pay for baggage and there is no food provided other than a drink and some really poor substitute even for peanuts. Southwest at least allows you to have a free baggage. It's not the fault of the pilot but it also is very bumpy. The flight crew was fine and it's just the uncomfortable aspects of having my seat assignment changed and the extra charges for anything that makes it comfortable."

Cons: "When I got to the ticket counter my reservations had been canceled by united. Worst part is the flight is now completely booked. I was lucky enough to make the flight thanks to a late flight from vegas where 7 people were connecting from but it was pretty stressful to walk up to the counter to be told the reservation you have had for 2 months was no longer reserved. This was one of the rudest staffed planes I've been on. These guys aren't over worked. I don't know why they can be so hateful. I loved united but this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. It all worked out in the end, but I still can't follow why my flight reservation was canceled without me being notified. I shouldn't find something like that out when I get to the airport with my luggage in my hand."

We had asked switching seats on our flight to Spokane because we were given the same seats. The airline told us seats were chosen at random and they couldn't control them so we had 4 legs of our two flights stuck in no reveling seats. I was very disappointed."

I think more should have been done to accommodate. To be fair, the other lady who came by to let us know of our gates, offered to call my terminal and let them know I was on the way"

Arrived late to Denver because of weather, but my stroller that I had left on the jetway in Seattle was never put on the plane which I didn't know until I got to minot. I was going to wait for it in denver, but I would have missed my flight to minot had I waited 5 more minutes. We arrived to minot only to find out that our 3 suitcases, one stroller and 2 car seats were never in the flight. Awful! And my connecting flight was even delayed an extra 55 min so I don't quite know where my things are."
Cons: "Planes have mechanical issues, but they could have done more things at the same time like reboard while the post repair system checks ran and sort out baggage weights so that there weren't delays on top of delays. That was after not noticing issues with the plane until after waiting for late passengers and taxiing out. We arrived 4hrs late for a 3hr flight. They also only had one agent to rebook flights and assign hotels at the end even though they had hours to know the connections would be missed."

Cons: "my girlfriend and I were removed from the plane. she had received troubling news from her family that kept stacking on, not to mention we were tired from traveling all day thanks to delays making us miss our flights. and when we gestured for an attendant to come by, light dark skin, facial hair, glasses. he had customer service come by and we reiterated the question if we decided we would like to get off the plane would it be possible to receive a voucher for the flight. but we told him that we were just trying to consider options and we were good to go, and the customer service told us that the attendant did not feel comfortable with us on the plane, and that my girlfriend reached out and touched him and he did not feel safe. we never even raised our hands our eye brows. they caused us all kinds of hell, we couldn't get another flight till 2210, they embarrassed and humiliated my girlfriend because she was crying. unacceptable."

Cons: "The pre-boarding staff were rude and not helpful. I had requested an aisle seat when I booked my flight. Somewhere along the line, my seat was changed to a middle seat. When I asked the staff if I could switch to an aisle seat to help accommodate my sciatica, they told me, "sorry, we can't help you, you'll just have to ask another passenger." Neither crew member was willing to work with me or hear my concerns. So much for flying the friendly skies...well I guess we were still on land, so may that principle had not yet taken effect."

Cons: "The seats were incredibly uncomfortable. Must be the type of plane because never really had issues on other flights. We noticed many carry on bags others brought on bosrd were oversized. On leg from Kalispell to Denver the crew were diligent in spotting larger bags and tagging them for under plane storage for the flight. From Den to SFO however not so much. This led to most bins being filled ahead of our group 4 boarding with larger than permitted carry on bags. Obviously larger! Luckily we were able to put our smaller bags (which we made sure fit to overhead storage specs ahead of time) under the seat for flight but that made an uncomfortable 2.5 hour journey. Actually over 3 hrs because there was a mechanical problem which had us sitting on the tarmack for over 30 minutes from Den to SFO. We've flown United before without much incident but this trip in particular was pretty crappy."

They resold that seat on May 27. So they made money Twice on that seat. Then when we checked in to return on 15 June. We were told his ticket had been cancelled and I had to purchase another ticket for his return. The flight was NOT sold out. My entire row of seats was empty. So I paid for 2 seats for the same flight. This is theft, coming and going and I am calling my lawyer!"

Plus, Austin's airport layout requires travelers to walk awfully far to get bags and then a rental car. Don't dare be disabled or feeling unwell--you'll never make it! Of course our gate was furthest from baggage claim, & someone's has to be. Nevertheless, it's a terrible layout, w/ pedestrians pushing through boarding queues and where others are lined-up to buy food."
Cons: "On April 15 we flew from Sacramento to Basel, via Los Angeles and Munich. We did exactly what we were told re reserving seats. We were told to call 23 hrs. in advance to reserve seats. When we tried to follow directions, we were not able to check in. Without checking in, we could not reserve seats. After numerous phone calls, to various numbers, we were not able to check in or reserve seats. By continuing to ask questions, to try and understand, we were told we were "under airport control". This was an "at random" situation and online check in was not available. Only 5 minutes earlier, we were still being instructed to check in online! We had never heard of this. I contacted a neighbor, who flies often internationally and within the U.S. He said it had happened to him once. He agreed that driving to the airport in Sacramento was a wise decision. This is not what we wanted to be doing 1 day before departure. At Sacramento we found a kind gentleman who saw our dilemma and checked us in as a favor. We saw assigned seats. He suggested we request to improve our seats the following travel day. It was a very challenging morning. As I tried to improve our seating the following day I was told, by airport staff, that this happened because we booked through Kayak? Rather with an attitude that we should have booked differently. This was a vacation we had looked forward to for years. I worked hard at not letting this difficult start damage my trip. Upon arrival in Amsterdam, I tried to learn more, to prevent a similar situation on the way home."
Cons: "I did not like having to check my carry on after all. I was told the overheads were full so I could get it in Baggage after the trip. For health reasons I did not want the trip to baggage and I did not want to risk my bag being lost. I drive 3 hrs o the airport and I did not want to drive back or wait 3 days for a lost bag to be sent to me as I have before. The person at the gate was rude when I said you won't lose my luggage will you? he said Probably. I said really, and he said well you did ask."
Cons: "Very rude lady working at United desk at LAX. I am a veteran and I have very bad anxiety and PTSD and my wife (who is active duty) were split up for the flight so we had asked to be seated next to one another since we had picked our seats online prior to flying. The lady was very rude rolling her eyes saying that there was nothing she could do for us besides us asking people to possibly switch seats even though my spouse had the United app open and showed two seats to upgrade too and she didn't even ask if we wanted to upgrade to be next to each other. At this point I had to take my anxiety medication and as we were taking off one of the flight attendants said we could ask about upgrading but yet the lady at the desk said nothing."
Pros: "Regardless of product, the 787 is by far the most comfortable aircraft in the sky. Obviously you can't compare UA Economy to EY's "Residence" on the 380, but once you're comparing similar products across different aircraft, the 787 blows all the others out of the water. This is because of the higher cabin pressure, higher cabin humidity, and relatively enormous windows at eye level. Even UA can't ruin the 787 experience with their snippy staff (I almost found myself apologizing for asking for the little bag of snack mix that I missed out on because I was snoozing when they first came around) and ear-splitting announcements. The flight was delayed due to a mechanical, and the staff at NRT was very helpful in getting us to where we needed to be."

This was not so bad, but they changed their minds about whether we would take the original plane or switch to a second 787 that had flown in on NRT-DEN so many times I lost count. This is why I gave the "boarding" process poor marks--please just figure out whether we need to get off (we didn't need to, but did anyway) and whether we are going to switch to another aircraft before letting everyone off. The staff at NRT failed to consider moving the DEN-HKG passengers to a ET NRT-HKG flight (which surely had available seats) that was parked next door. Instead, we were all put on a HND-HKG flight leaving about five hours later than the ET flight."
