My pregnant wife and I made it to the gate 4 minutes before the scheduled departure and they told us the plane was already gone and there was no way for us to get on the plane. Our bags did make it to Sioux Falls, so my wife didn't have her prenatal vitamins, , we had no clean clothes and we were forced to spend the night in Atlanta. The saddest part of yet another terrible experience with Delta was that they offered us a "discounted" room at a terrible Howard Johnson for $72. I looked online and the same hotel was $65 to book on Kayak. So basically Delta was trying to scam us after they screwed us. Thanks Delta! Instead we paid $200+ to stay at an airport hotel. Every time I fly Delta I regret it, yet occasionally I get forced to take their awful airline to get somewhere I need to go. It never fails to add another bad Delta experience to my long list of failings from this SAD!!! airline."

When we checked in at SLC the agent used my last name, which showed me the extra mile Delta staff will go to make the travel with them professional and curious. The flight left on time and when we arrived in Detroit our bags were already there waiting for us. Couldn't have asked for more!"

Cons: "Have to request wheelchair service twice as the receiving staff handing the wheelchair to another company for departure staff. Only one counter handles wheelchair request at each leg. They are so strict with liquids that all baby foods had to put in a separate bin and we had to go to another security point for clearance. It took 2.5 hours to go through all that, that is with wheelchair priority! Boarding was horrible at the gate."

Cons: "Flight was late arriving to George Town due to mechanical trouble. when it did arrive and we got boarded there was another 15 minute delay for more mechanical trouble. There were no meals available for purchase on the plane as they had only stocked the flight for one leg of the trip and not the return leg. We were told at check in that we would have to pick our bags up in Detroit before getting on our connection to Toronto. In fact they were actually checked through. Due to the delays we missed our connection in Detroit. The Delta Agent was rude and did not want to give us a hotel voucher. She also said the next flight she could book us in was 24hrs later. She was unwilling to book us on an earlier flight with a different carrier. After we got her supervisor involved we were given a hotel and booked on an early flight the next day. I would not fly Delta again if I had the choice."

We switched flights in order to make it home at a decent hour and not spend our entire day and night in an airport. We arrived home and they did not transfer two of our three checked bags to our flight, thus making it highly inconvenient upon our arrival home with no luggage."

Cons: "If you don't pay for the premium seats, the legroom is pretty tight. I'm only 5'8" and I felt it -- if you're 6'+ you better pay for it. This aircraft had screens, but not individual ones so you're stuck watching whatever sitcom replay they pick, although there is a moderate selection of other music. I've been on a newer aircraft with the in-seat power and interactive screens so I know how good it can be, so this was a little disappointing."

Coming back was worse after multiple delays, they cancelled the flight. they put me on a flight for next day with 2 connections which will reach ny almost 20 hrs later, no aplogises, no hotel room. After more calls put me in another United flight later that night which also finally got cancelled. I had to book a new flight with delta and paid $460 on the spot for that. Still awaiting my refund from American for the return leg which was cancelled and left a lady traveling alone stranded at Detroit airport in the night. Apology or compensation -- forget it, you will never get that! Only now if they can refund my cancelled flight..."

Pros: "Finally getting to my final destination and out of DFW."
Cons: "The flight was originally scheduled to take off at 8:20 pm, but due to several delays did not end up getting off the ground until after 11 pm. After being in the air for about 45 minutes we were informed that there were issues with the engine and that we would be turning around and heading back to Dallas. By this point it was after midnight, and although I was appreciative that safely is a priority, there was no communication as to what the next steps were. After landing we were finally told that we would have to deplane, and after we sat around the gate for awhile we were informed that the flight would be delayed until 5 am. Being 12:50 am at this point a hotel would have been nice, but we were informed that AA was "out of hotels" but that if we wanted we could have a $12 food voucher to use at the one restaurant that was open several terminals over. The AA employee assisting in handing out the food vouchers seemed extremely unapologetic about the situation which didn't help with the frustration everyone was feeling. I will not be booking with AA again, and will be passing along my negative experience to family and friends. It is worth spending the extra money on a ticket for an airline that is more reliable with better customer service."

Once we finally got ready to takeoff, we had to pull in yet again because there were passengers on the plan that weren't scheduled to go to Detroit.. all of these problems are somewhat understandable, but the crew FAILED TO EMPATHIZE WITH US AT ALL. They even made smart remarks about people going to the bathroom when we pulled back in... I feel some of them acted extremely unprofessional and I truly never want to fly with this company again."

Cons: "The disorganization checking one check bag. I arrived in plenty of time. Very long line to check the bag (no skycab available). Majority of people in line arrived with only a short time before their flight and had to be rushed ahead of me to get to their flight on time. I finally arrived to the front of the line after about 45 minutes and 50% of the people behind me were on flights leaving in 30 minutes or less and had to go ahead of my husband and I. They obviously did not arrive with the advised amount of time allowance. It wasn't my fault I arrived with plenty of time and I had to deal with the verbal abuse from people having to go ahead. Maybe if they missed their flight, next time they would arrive earlier with enough time. It sure wasn't a very pleasant experience at all."

Cons: "We are on delta because we got to frontier line 1 hour and 15 min before flight. Lady proceeds to tell us are gate is closed and we can't get on plane and then ignored us with no answers or help. Proceeded to ask other employees and they were all clueless. The worst service my wife and I have ever seen or had. $616 later we are on are way home .with delta. Ruined are whole vacay and I would pay extra to go with delta."

My 89/91 year old parents first class seats were possibly a few inches wider and still 3 seats across...that's a rip off. No TSA - pre check. Limited staff for check in with long lines. Also, only 2 check-in kiosks with only one working and no assistant to help speed along the process. I witnessed one man who spent approximately ten minutes trying to print his boarding pass. Cheap tickets which result in getting what you pay for."

It was overall a good flight! The flight was on time leaving and arrived 40 minutes early, quite a surprise, maybe a tail wind."

Between kayak and Frontier, they have mastered de-bundling and "the bait and switch" concepts. They got us this time....not good for building customer loyalty. So long kayak and Frontier."

Pros: "Spirit Airlines fools folks with low fares and then gouges wallets with baggage fees. I was disappointed with the SA representative at LGA who was rude and inflexible when I realized that I had not printed out my boarding pass. He made me go to the back of the line after waiting through a long, pre-holiday check in line. Enforcing the rules is one thing, but he was rude and unkind. Flight was left/arrived on time."

Cons: "The lga terminal is terrible, a.c was extremely poor, not enough seating, food options are terrible, and communication from the actual gate was worse. It's tucked away in the corner and there wasn't enough seating so I had to sit in another section therefore I could never hear any announcements, even though I gather there weren't many made even with an hour plus delay. Also, I am 6 months pregnant and travel quit a bit for work. It amazes me how flight attendants do not offer to assist with putting up my luggage. I never willingly chose spirit as my airline, I will do anything in my power to fly another but it just so happens this week was drastically cheaper so I had to select your airline and I am definitely not willing to do so again"

Cons: "I had a 2 way ticket and they cancelled the flight the way back just a couple of hours before it was to depart, so I called to get my self on to another flight and all they could get me on to was a flight a day and half later!!"

Cons: "I received a confirmation email that the flight was on time 3 hours before it was scheduled, so I left my house for the airport. Upon check-in I was notified the flight was cancelled. I asked to be put on the next flight to my destination, but Spirit advised there was not another flight until 6:30 pm that night. My original flight was scheduled for 8:30am. I also asked if there were other airlines they could book me on, and the Spirit representative said no, they could not put me on another airline. Additionally, my American Airlines return flight had to be cancelled since I was not going to make it. It was already too late to cancel that flight unless I wanted to pay a $200 dollar fee. All in all, a net loss of about $900 due to the nonrefundable return flight, cabs booked to and from the airport, and the nonrefundable hotel- since the cancellation was so last minute. Terrible experience."

Cons: "I took a day off work and woke up at 5am to get to the airport early for my 8:30am flight to MI to visit my 85 year old father while my mother is out of town. My flight was cancelled because the pilots didn't show up, according to the woman at the desk. I was given the option to get a flight the next day, a refund, or a flight on another airline. I do appreciate being put on Jet Blue so that I could arrive the day intended. Only problem is, I was put on a flight from NY to FL to MI with a 4.5 hour layover adding 10 hours onto my original itinerary. She told me that was my best option. I was fine with that, but immediately after I stepped away from the desk I heard other people had been put on direct flights that would've only added a few hours onto my travel time rather then 12. I was told I had to go to the back of the line, which would've taken at least three hours to get through, and that they probably couldn't make any changes anyway. My flight back home was only an hour and fifteen minutes, but there was a 30 minute delay. I will never fly with Spirit again. FYI, I had called their phone number and after going back and forth before the operator finally said she couldn't do anything, they tried to get me to sign up for MasterCard. I had to say no three times."

Pros: "I liked the boarding routine which divided us up into "zones" randomly - much more efficient boarding."
Cons: "Water cost $3 on the plane!!! HUGE baggage fees - over $50 for a checked bag!"

Cons: "After playing the game and being overcharged for a carry-on (paid for something I was allowed) and having to pay more for a real seat the flight was delayed multiple times and I had to book on another airline (and pay the premium) to get to Detroit. Then it took them 30 minutes to round up my bag making me almost miss the other flight. I won't fly Spirit again"

Cons: "I understand if the flight is cancelled due to weather conditions, but we were able to get on another flight at the exact same time to the exact same destination, just through another airline. In addition, prior to my cancelled flight I barely received any emails letting me know of the status change and received NO phone text message. Spirit should text every person if a flight is cancelled. Lastly, it has now been 6 full days and no one has reached out about my refund. I requested it at the airport but have not received anything in the mail or via phone call. Disappointing customer service and horrible management."

Pros: "Only thing i can say good about my over all flight was the fact that we arrived earlier than planned. The Pilot did his job correctly. The seevice in the check in was also very well mannered."
Cons: "I understand each airline has their own policies and rules, but if i plan on flying with you guys i ask for some type of sympathy. I got to the airport at 8:00am my flight being at 8:30. I wasnt allowed in due to the fact i did not print my boarding ticket at home. I find it outrageous that i had to spend the complete day at the airport waiting until the next possible flight. Its just a wrong way of going about the complete situation. Its a very successful way to loose important valued customers. Personally makes me not want to fly with Spirit again."

Pros: "Laguardia is a tough airport. The gate area is among the worst I've seen in my travels. I did like the way the gate attendants had designated aisles for Zone 1 - 4, it made it simpler and more quick to board."

Cons: "It would be nice if the seats had a bit more padding and head rests for napping. It really is like being on a bus that flies. No real complaints though."

Cons: "Showed up to the airport an two hours early for an international flight. Tried to check in the day before online but their website said I needed to see a representative at the check in counter. There i waited for 35 mins while they tried to sort out my issue. After keeping me, I asked if there was any way to expedite my security procedures and they said there was no possible way of doing that. Being Christmas Eve and a very busy airport, I proceeded to wait in the security line for 25+ minutes. By the time I had finally made it through and to my gate, my flight had already left the gate 10 minutes ahead of time. After missing my flight on Christmas Eve, they made little attempt to help me, telling me the next availability flight wasn't until three days later. By this point I found another flight which I had to pay for out of pocket, and I asked Spirit Airlines for a refund on the ticket for the flight that THEY made me miss because of time consuming unnecessary prodedures, and they refused to do so. Luckily I was able to find another flight on a DIFFERENT airline to get to my destination. But it ended up costing me a fortune. Spirit airlines is the worst airline ever. So unhelpful and unfriendly. It seems almost as if they set me up to miss my flight under these circumstances. Never fly with them."

Cons: "The flight was delayed by two hours. Upon landing they had an issue opening the doors which took another 30 minutes. Considering they couldn't open the door one would think they could get the bags out and however, that was wishful thinking. We waited for our bags another 40 minutes. The crew did a fair job but, didn't seem committed to performing an excellent client experience."

Cons: "Unexpectedly had to pay for my carry on. Flight was 3 hours delayed and when we landed the plane moved away from the jetway and ripped off. Completely unsafe and took 45 minutes before we could get off the plane."

Cons: "delays after delays, and even after landing we sat in the airplane for 30 minutes because the door was broken..."

Cons: "It's always shocking HOW MUCH you pay for so little on these flights - for a 1.5 hour $500 flight, I would basically expect first class, but with spirit you don't even get a free coke. Had to pay an extra almost $50 EACH WAY for bring a bag with me. They're whole slogan is getting rid of frills to make flights cheaper- so make them CHEAPER!"

Cons: "HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE: ALL of the personnel we dealt with (from check-in, to security, to gate, to the crew) were rude and even aggressive. I've never felt such a lack of respect for customers from any airline, ever."

Cons: "On our flight out the connection flight got downgraded to a small plane and many people lost their seats. We thankfully didn't but it was still upsetting that many people did. On our flight home the flight got delayed and so we were going to miss our connection. They gave a insincere "sorry" and told us we wouldn't be able to fly till the next day. On top of that we had to pay 105 extra dollars in unexpected baggage fee's. We ended up canceling, getting a refund, and flying southwest."

Pros: "The flight was smooth and left on time. It was a short and comfortable flight."
Cons: "The nickel-and-dime-ing. Spirit charges $55 dollars to put a bag in the overhead compartment, $10 to choose a seat at check-in, $50 dollars to check a bag to out under the plane, there are advertisements in the cabin...the barrage of hidden or possible costs is extremely annoying and makes the experience just as expensive - or more expensive - than other airlines. I understand the reasons but I still wish it was all one price as it feels like traveling with a carnival."

Cons: "Spirit has so many hidden charges and you just walk away feeling conned. You have to pay for carry on bags, and a second time for your seats. What did I pay for the first time? Also it was the least leg room I have ever had on an airplane. I will never fly spirit again, EVER!"

Cons: "Spirit is, I guess, a necessary evil. It is a bait and switch operation that is the death of a 1,000 cuts. Fees for everything; boarding passes, luggage, etc."

Cons: "I'm 5'10" and I was uncomfortable! The seats are so close and cramped you have no doubt they squeeze in 30 more seats on a plane then other airlines. If you add up bag fees, lack of caring and not even free water!! You are NOT saving money people..... Sat on tarmac for over 45min because our gates full and one with broken down plane - really! Oh, and then wait over 15min for bags also. Landed early, but well over hour late once reached gate and bags..... Did anyone care, NO!! NEVER AGAIN!"

Cons: "Paying for carry on was twice as much as my actual ticket. And there were plenty of open seats but flight attendants wouldnt let anyone move to be more comfortable. Will never fly this airline again"
