The view crom the hotel over the marsh, the proximity to a clean sandy beach with rolling breakers and the comfort of the room. The fact that the hotel was on a main road, but the rooms are sufficiently laid back for that not to be a nuisance
Check-In was at 3:00pm and we were not able to get into our rooms until almost 4:00pm
Stayed in King room with balcony Great room room were recently renovated which was great view was good Room was under main lobby and could hear everybody going to breakfast
Loved our stay! The view was beautiful from our room. Really enjoyed the breakfast too. Not your typical continental breakfast. We'll be back!
the location was great to everything in the area, the free breakfast was not to bad either the room had a stuffy odor to it
the room and river scenery
the view was nice the service was good rooms clean decent comp breakfast had to climb open outside stairs to get to room
The riverfront location and the fact they had kayaking available was a big draw for us. The location is great apart from some awkward (temporary) road construction in front which makes entering and exiting the parking area a bit dicey. The inn was just renovated and shows some updates, but some features definitely seemed dated and worn out. Our room clearly wasn't one of the best they had and our "sitting area" (as opposed to deck) was two vinyl chairs next to the parking area, not facing the water. Some rooms have a water-facing deck, but not us. No matter. The kayaks are only available during the "high tide cycle" and usually only once per day. There's a three to four hour window when you can rent them, but the attendant is also on call. The place was clean and overall fine. Skip the free breakfast. Even with "fresh" waffles made from a tasteless, disgusting mix, the whole event is a glorified continental breakfast at best. Better to head to Ogunquit to the various breakfast joints and get a real breakfast. Limited kayaking hours was a surprise to us but it made sense because the river is tidal. A bit overpriced for what you get, but I am sure the area commands the prices because of summer attractions and the beautiful beach at Ogunquit.
The location was perfect, i really enjoyed the shuttle to the beach which is a big plus. The breakfast could hace been a bit more elaborated, the room smelled like mold.
Clean, large rooms. Sauna was broken and hot tub was closed (although it wasn't mentioned online).
It was quaint The shower ceiling was very sharply angled in my room
The staff were very friendly, it was exceptionally clean, close to town. No hot tub available only seasonal
Very clean, nice room, great location Fire alarm went off, girls soccer team staying near us was very loud and rude, yelling in hallway past quiet hours, the door to our room did not close all the way.
Good location downtown, nice staff. Pool was under construction for renovations, and we had really been eagerly awaiting this part of the trip with two little kids. No continental breakfast - only their restaurant with overpriced and far underperforming food.
Rooms were nice and clean. I was on club level and the ice machine and people walking around were very loud. Did not feel private. Guy at the desk was very non customer service oriented. As I found with most people at that desk. Valet guy was very nice. Pay decent money you expect a little more courtesy. I do not expect to stay there again.
The Port Inn in Portsmouth, NH is a well kept, clean place to stay. Convenient to the highway and to downtown Portsmouth with a very welcoming and friendly staff.
We really liked the hotel. It was a convenient location, right off 95 on our way home from Maine. Clean, comfortable, and the staff was very friendly. There was only ONE thing that bothered me and had we stayed more than one night would have driven me absolutely crazy: the floor above us. Our room was located on the bottem level of the hotel, room 125. The room directly above us has the creakiest floors which left me wide awake listening to the people above getting ready in the morning. Not a problem if they got up later or I was a deep sleeper, but the floor boards started their symphony at 5:30 am, far too early for my vacation.
They were so good to our dog. We would stay there again
The manager Steven went well above and beyond the service of any other hotel experience I've had and I travel quite frequently for work. I will certainly be back again. The breakfast is a great bonus!
We loved everything about this place! When we drove up I thought we were going into a motel from the 50's, which wasn't a good thing in my opinion - I didn't have fond memories of those rooms. However, when we opened our door we loved the room! It was just like a boutique hotel room - it was really nice. The staff was awesome! I probably wouldn't like walking to the office/breakfast room in the cold months, but in May it was perfect.
Great staff, great room accommodations, good location with easy access to major highways, downtown, and beach. We would stay here again on our next trip to Portsmouth. A great value for the price and a knowledgeable staff. Nothing.
So close to everything
The hotel is centrally located within walking distance to every thing. Room was beautiful and clean. The shower felt so good after a long day on the beach in the sun. The beds were comfy but the pillows could be a little harder. The staff was amazing...always pleasant. The free breakfast was far more than we expected and was a great way of starting the day. Love the valet parking. ...very convenient. We will definitely be back next time we are in town. Kathleen Kelley September 2015 Pillows, not that I hated them...just that they need to be alittle harder....not enough neck support.
Loved how clean it was, the staff was super friendly. We both got a free drink for waiting a little extra for our room, our room was spectacular. Valet staff were great too. The overall stay was awesome!!! The bed was a little uncomfortable. But that's the only complaint from us.
Directions and signage are not easily understood or noticed
The manager was very nice. The room was very smal and old. The blanket has spot on it. The carpet was not clean. It was ok for me but I would not recommand this hotel to my mother.
breakfast, pool,It was closed to stores, beach, well to everything The price compared to the other just across. The colonial is old, very old
It was a good location at a good price with nice, friendly people running the place.
Short walking distance from the beach. Nice building from outside. Room was small, not too clean and the bed was uncomfortable. Bathroom was also ridiculously small. I do not recommend this hotel for a romantic week-end.
The rooms are very small
Poor breakfast, hotel style motel, old bed, expensive price, picture false the condition of the hotel. not happy. two stars max
Front desk staff very helpful with local info. Breakfast is fairly basic
The people next door had the TV on loud all night - called front desk - they said they called the room but couldn't get hold of anyone. Moved us at 2:30 AM to another room - but next to air conditioning noise - then to another room where the traffic kept us awake all night. We were travelling from Halifax, NS to PA - driving all day and was to drive all day the next day - wasn't impressed with not getting any sleep. We usually stayed here with no complaints - too bad this happened at this time. Will look for another place next time.
Low Rates Awesome Friendly Service Comfortable Room
Close to everything. Including the best liquor store in NH across the street. Air was nice and cold. Coffee was good too in the am. Wish the bed was was a queen.
It was very clean. Coffee ran out when I came downstairs.
We were staying in Portsmouth overnight with some friends. Great value for the price. Clean rooms & bathroom, comgortable bed. A little dated, but again, a good value for the money.
friendly staff comfortable bed difficulty regulating room temperature lack of warm blanket paltry selection of food items available for continental breakfast
Staff was very attentive and friendly. Debris on floor. Mold on shower curtain. No drain plug for tub. Horrible pillows and breakfast
Clean night clerk was very helpful in suggesting places to eat
was not as clean as it could have been
Beds were comfy
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I love Robbin! He's nice, helpful and courteous. I always look forward to seeing him at the desk. Rooms are very clean, but could use some minor maintenance. My lamp shade was missing the nut that held the shade on, so it was tilted, second light in bathroom didn't work correctly, , minor things that are not always noticed.
The best part of the experience was the staff. Everyone from the Front Desk staff to the cleaning staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The exterior and outdoor space of the hotel were the best physical features of the hotel. The pool was beautiful The rooms felt extremely bare, somewhat stark. The toiletries were really minimal, something more than two bars of industrial soap slivers and two tubes of combined shampoo/condition would be nice.
I enjoyed the cornhole game and the location...very near town. Staff was nice! Breakfast was mostly carbs-muffins, toast, oatmeal. Needed some meat, not for me but my husband likes it. Also needed some eggs. Boiled eggs are easy and it's my favorite breakfast item. They had no milk! I don't like 1/2 and 1/2 in my coffee and oatmeal.
There was a nice Continental Breakfast supplied for free. Too far from downtown area (have to drive; not a quick walk).
Yes we had a jacuzzi tub in our room and when we went to use it the water was disgusting brown and dirty
It was convenient to the wedding we were attending It was outdated and very musty smelling. The pillows were flat like pancakes and we had 4 of them.
the room was very nice, clean and spacious, with vaulted ceilings and a ceiling fan. breakfast was blah!
To get to the second floor I had to go up 2 flight of stares. I would requested a first floor room as I am a senior citizen climbing stares with luggage is a challenge

Hotel location is awesome -within a mile of downtown. One can easily walk, take the trolley or even drive & park. This Motel is more like a Hotel - really clean, quiet, with beautiful rooms. no
Beautiful and spacious room with an incredibly comfortable bed! The pool and hot tub was great too! Nothing
I loved being able to walk the beach without crowding of people and my balcony view was relaxing as I was able to hear the waves all night. I didn't like the fact I had to clean the refrigerator top as the ice tray was stuck to it and coffee was all over the ice tray. The toilet was sprayed but not cleaned. I wanted so badly to relax and take a bath, but the tub had not been cleaned and there was a white film ring around it. I am also glad I am not allergic to mold, as above the tub area there was an abundance of black mold. These areas may seem fine for others, however, I really needed some "Time off" from having to clean. Maybe if the hotel was busy and the cleaning crew was limited on time, but this was off season and not busy at all.
Perfect weekend getaway just a short drive from Boston. The ideal place to stay if you have kids. Pools, beaches, resteraunts, you name it! We had a blast and will definitely be back!!!
Rooms were not big but they were cozy, functional and clean. The access to the beach and the views were wonderful. We were there offl season and it was quiet. Very good room for the price paid. Enjoyable and the location is the best. The ocean view entry door and large ocean view window opened on to the access balcony so other guest are walking by your door and window. Definitely opt for the $ upcharge for the 2nd or 3rd floor; otherwise you will be looking directly into parked cars. But the ocean and beach are 100 yards away and that is where we wanted to be.
I liked the location and I prefer this resort during the winter. We were given a closer room to the indoor pool which was nice. employees were very nice and the room was very nice and clean, very comfortable. Great value for the money spent on the room. There were too many kids, and they were highly unsupervised jumping around, splashing us in the hot tub and horseplay. Apparently they only have one legal bartender and she was on maternity leave so none of the staff could sell us liquor so we went for beers only. Our room lock broke and we were locked out when we returned from the pool and it was snowing. We waited for the maintenance to open it which was fast and then we had to switch rooms around 9:30pm. All together I liked our visit but it was better the first time.
Location, price noisy rooms, thin walls.. Not good for sleeping in.
Cozy, well decorated room. Needed a small fridge for medication.
The pool area is beautiful and kept very clean. The food at the Restaurant, Salt was terrible.
Great location and views, Hotel was also beautiful. Front desk helpful.Room small but well appointed. Bathroom was great. I had a 80 min massage and it was fabulous! Indoor pool was also very nice. It was too cold out to use the outside pool. I did not use the restaurants but they both looked nice but pricy. This is really picky but there was dust and cobwebs in my bathroom and stains on the window blinds, normally I would never complain about this but when Im paying 369.00 a night I expect it to be Perfect.
It is a well restored old hotel that is beautiful inside and out, with beautiful gardens. It was very clean and we could not hear other guests. The location on the island just adds to the charm.
Facilities, pool, bar/restaurant Small rooms
It is clean, quiet and close by to many places. The owner, is very friendly and informative. no enough trash can through out the facility.
Walking distance to the beach The color on the tv was going in and out and the remote didn't work. They did take $20 off our stay for the inconvenience. The carpet cleaner smelled soooo strong it was hard to get used to
Cleanest hotel we have stayed in. Very family friendly!!
I had an excellent experience. The room was very clean and quiet. My room overlooked a pretty wooded area. The hotel was a 5-10 minute walk to the beach or center of town. Staff was friendly and enthusiastically pointed out places of interest. I wish they served fresh coffee in the morning. They have tiny pots in the room but I personally don't like drinking from something that spends its life in the bathroom. For this price this seems like an easy fix.
A very pleasent find. Nice, clean comfortable room. Designed to allow good privacy. What a wonderful view from our room.
It was clean the staff was very helpful the location was close to town and the beach.
Loved being close to everything, but by far the staff at the desk, valet, and housekeeping was above and beyond super nice... I just wished I could have turned the heat down more than to 65, without turning it off. it was very hot in the room..
Location was fantastic....right in the heart of Portsmouth. Nothing
Temporarily parked by entrance (20 minutes) while we got our room and unpacked. Valets were pleasant and professional. Hotel location was excellent and Portsmouth is very walkable. At this price, we expected a complimentary breakfast. Expensive valet only parking. We found our own parking nearby for free.
Overall nice place No bath tub!
Very clean and a great location Valet parking was the only option
I really enjoyed the food and cocktails while watching football. There was a server by the name Anca who took great care of me. The rooms where very clean and it's walking distance to everything. Parking stinks
Unable to stay here because they had no confirmed reservation
I thought our room smelled and felt a bit musty.
I would like to recognize Dimple Patel and Natalia for their exceptional service. Each encounter was so pleasant, welcoming and engaging. I travel often for work and never have I encountered such exceptional service on a consistent basis. Dimple and Natalia are what made my stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Portsmouth Downtown enjoyable, not the hotel amenities nor the look of the hotel.
Very clean and modern, friendly staff and accessable to dowtntown
Will stay again in our future Maine trips. Loved the location, Everything was on route 1. The hotel is right off route 1.
The control entail breakfast was really good, and the staff were very friendly! The rooms were modern looking and very comfortable! The walls were slightly thin, but there were no disturbances to prevent from sleeping, the TV in our room didn't work but we were too tired to care
Cookies at night, room was clean Could hear people in room next they were up all night,i didn't sleep at all, left hotel at6am.
Nothing Rented out for pool parties, insanley loud, because it is so inexpensive, it brought all sorts of crowds there for hotel parties and just Not family friendly environment. Horrible stay
Great location, easy walk to Perkins Cove or downtown Ogunquit. Trolley stop next door made it easy if you didn't feel like walking back at the end of the day. Indoor and outdoor salt water pools to cool off in and free movies and activities for kids. The shower heads are terrible. Stinging fine mist sprayers like you find at the beach for rinsing off sand. Carpet was in need of replacing.
clean, near town, restaurants etc..... poor kitchenett not what we expect , rooms service very slow
Very clean and modern rooms/suites Bathroom was very small for the size of suite.
As a group of four we liked our two bedroomed suite with kitchenette. The indoor pool was small but great fun as we had it to ourselves. The location was great and everything within walking distance. The outdoor pool was in another building across the street. There was no breakfast available on site but we'd recommend Amore Breakfast down the street the food was great.
The staff was excellent ... kind, courteous and caring. The room was immaculately clean. It was a very comfortable stay!
Restaurants, shopping and the beach were all with in walking distance. Loved having our own patio set and access to grills, pool etc. Very comfortable accommodations
Very clean, well located , quiet , personnel courteous the mattresses are too stiff
We enjoyed the spacious room, loverly indoor pool and nearby shops and resturants. It was close to the beach and downtown Ogunquit Maine . We are definately planning to stay there again soon!
Room was above our expectations, very clean, quiet, comfortable and with a great location. Easily accessible to restaurants, shopping, beach and attractions. Staff was friendly and helpful.
close to the beach, restaurants, very good conditions of living in the apartment with a child of 3 years old. A lot of space.. We had 2 bedrooms.
Location, helpful staff and comfortable room. No.

Extremely clean. Friendly staff. Nicely landscaped back yard. Nothing.
Quaint. Nice, relaxing area out back. No
Clean, comfortable and adequate for a motel. Get a room on the back side where there is grass, a stream, BBQ, chairs and gazebos and is off the road. Hair dryer was broken and no one to fix it. Clerk let me use one in another unoccupied room, which was good, but the hairdryer was not repaired during our 2 day stay.
This is like an old fashioned motel: solid, clean, they have thought of everything we needed to make our stay comfortable.Best? The garden behind the motel and our little balcony. No, we really liked it.
Location was nice and place was clean Almost no Internet access
Owners and staff were great. They accommodated any request without any hesitation. Price was right. Very quiet and peaceful location.
The staff was great as was the location. I enjoyed sitting in the gazebo. The room was clean. I would go back there again. The air conditioner froze and didn't work. It was too warm in the room.
Rooms were immaculately clean, comfortable - wonderful experience! Nothing to speak of.
I enjoyed the glider rocking chairs, the spacious room, quietness and the porch. The grounds were very lovely. Real cups, real glasses. Great place to stay. N/A
Very clean and pretty cozy. Our room was at the end and the wifi did not work at all.
