Pros: This was our first time using Alamo and we were very happy with your service. When the attendant at the Washington National airport saw us with all our suitcases she went and got the car for us so we didn't have to carry our suitcases across the parking lot. Thank you for making our trip easiere.

Call prior to pick up to confirm all minute detail
Pros: Convenience of rental pickup at airport, and ease of drop-off procedures.
Cons: Couldn't pickup reserved car due to paying with Visa debit card. Specifically reserved an SUV, but couldn't get anything bigger than full size, which was too small for my 6'+ height, and a higher rate than reserved SUV. Retired USMC, disabled vet and on assignment as government official, yet could not rent a simple SUV due to traveling with only my debit card. Car was dirty on the outside as well.
Sep 13 2016
Pros: Ease of pickup and dropoff, flexibility in car assignment relative to availability of class reserved.
Cons: Upgrade was provided from standard-class sedan to SUV, which was not ideal.

Easy pick up and drop off
Pros: Fast, efficient reservations and pick up was excellent
Cons: Drop off at Dulles was off site and somewhat confusing but other than that easy.

Just hope you don't have a problem!
Pros: The guy at DCA who rented us the car was very nice.
Cons: Our car's transmission died and Alamo told us to take a cab to the nearest airport to get a new car. We got a smaller car. They treated me as if I'd crashed the car or done something else wrong. No efforts have been made to reimburse us for the cab.
Dec 28 2016
Cons: Car had a smell of dogs.
Jan 5 2017
Pros: Nice clean car. Friendly staff.
Cons: Pickup spot was unclear. It might be easy to find when you arrive by flight, but it's a mess if someone's dropping you off. Address listed on confirmation email doesn't point to the actual location.

On-line estimated price was $161.18 but actual pri
Cons: Didn't have time at check out to dispute the charges but now that I have access to my original reservation, what do I do to dispute the charge...this is classic "bait and switch"...
Oct 31 2015
Pros: Rates and. Flexibility on different pick up and drop off locations.
Though all other rental companies follow same /similar methods of inventory, the charges that they put on for one way rentals are a rip off.
Cons: I had two reservations. I called on the. Rep to see if they can be combined as the vehicle size and rates I am paying on both the rentals are same. The rep told me that they can not combine and I need drop and pick up the vehicle . It took me 2 additional hrs for that activity. But while picking up my 2nd vehicle, the front desk at dca told me that the reservations could be combined of the rates and vehicle sizes are same.

Pros: Car was clean and ran well. Pretty comfortable for a smaller car. Good gas mileage.
Cons: Drop off fee in different location and having to pay $11 extra/day for a second driver. The second driver fee was especially disappointing.
Cons: Car rental.com said there was "IN TERMINAL" rental office - but it requires 35-45 mins extra time to shuttle __way__ off site. Even the gut there said that ad was false.
Cheap...but a pain to get to and to RETURN to (poor signage).
Oct 16 2015
NO RENT, WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. NOT IN TERMINAL, F
Cons: Worst experience ever, false information. it says 'in terminal', but is not true. Don't take this company, worst service ever. An hour to get the car, and another hour to return, the address was incorrect.
Oct 17 2015
I will not rent with advantage again
Cons: Local renters without insurance are required to purchase all insurance regardless of what their credit card covers. Car was dented and scratched but it takes so long (10-15 minutes per person) to check in I didn't have time to swap out the dented car for one that wasn't dented. They're terrible.
Oct 19 2015
Very poorly organized operation
Pros: The price was low and there was no charge for drop off a t different location.
Cons: From arrival to exiting the lot took about two hours. First there was a half hour wait for the shuttle. Then there was an hour wait to get the keys. And then another 30 minutes in line trying to exist the lot. The delay was because the car first in line could not leave the lot because it had been sold!!! It had been rented to a family with small kids that needed kids seats shifted into a new car etc etc, just a time wasting disaster for everyone that had the misfortune to rent from such a completely incompetent company.
Oct 19 2015
Not at terminal
Cons: Rental counter NOT AT TERMiNAL, but advertised as being so.
Listed phone number INCORRECT.
"Confirmed" reservation NOT FOUND.
Gladly took my business elsewhere.
A FIASCO. NEVER AGAIN KAYAK OR ADVANTAGE FOR CAR RENTAL.
Oct 25 2015
Pros: Good car.
Cons: Not at the terminal. An extra shuttle takes you into Arlington. The car we selected had only half a tank of fuel.
Nov 3 2015
Pros: Did not rent.
Cons: They don't advertise the fact that if you are a local renter, they FORCE you to buys their full coverage insurance at $25 a day unless you physically present your insurance card. This was on top of a $18 / day rental fee, so it was cheaper to slide four feet to the right and rent from a competitor without such a policy but with the same daily rate.

Dirty car. Sneaky insurance (kayak). Off-airport n
Cons: Sneaky kayak selling me insurance that wasn't actually attached to car rental. Car very high mileage. Very dirty smelly car. Off airport rental office not disclosed.
Nov 28 2015
Pros: Good rates on the weekend in DC.
Cons: Check-in was way too slow. On return, lot attendant couldn't provide receipt and when I got home, I saw that I was overcharged by $150+.
Nov 30 2015
Pros: There were no positives points.
Cons: Firstly, the rental was offsite from the Airport, a point that wasn't clear in the rental agreement, but it wasn't a terrible inconvenience.
The advantage fee was 28$ per day as quoted online. However, there were over 37$ per day extra in mandatory insurance payments. So the final price would have been over double the original quote.
The woman I spoke with at the counter was grumpy and rude.
I went around the corner and found a budget rental for the same price and had much better customer service.
Pros: Very convenient. Upgrade to bigger car at no cost. Good customer service. Easy after-hours drop-off.
Cons: Outside of car was dirty, but hey, it was a free upgrade!
Dec 5 2016
Pros: This Enterprise, located in Ballston, went above and beyond to serve me.
Special thanks to Colin and staff in making my trip more comfortable, less expensive, and very convenient.
Sep 17 2016
Pros: Basically everything was perfect! All worked out great!
Sep 20 2016
Pros: Received a great car (Mercedes C300) for the price of a low end compact car. Car was in overall good condition, fairly low in miles, and had surprisingly good fuel economy. Dealing with the agency was fast and smooth, and we had no issues.
Cons: There was a little bit of sticky residue on the car's central console, but we just cleaned it up with some cleaning wipes, so not a big deal (especially since we got a nicer car than expected).
Sep 21 2016
Pros: Free upgrade!
Cons: Had to dropoff on street.
Dec 23 2016
Pros: the guys at the Shirlington location went above and beyond and provided the best service I ever had renting a car.
Feb 14 2017
Location too crowded and they hand you an undermai
Cons: Underinflated tires--like, "warning light came on" underinflated, in three of the tires! Site was so congested there was no where to park the car upon return.
Jul 17 2016
Pros: Got an upgraded vehicle for free
Cons: That the car did not come with a full tank of gas. This is an inconvenience and a challenge to try to return the car back with the same amount of gas. Ultimately it seems like the company is being lazy and this is probably a money maker for you as many cars like mine probably come back with more gas than when picked up. So I essentially paid for gas for the next customer. Cars used to always come with a full tank and sadly it seems like you are doing this more and more.
Sep 19 2016
Easy and Inexpensive
Pros: Had car within 10 minutes of arriving to pick the car up at Enterprise.
Oct 18 2016
Cons: I was told that I'd get a refund if I brought it back early. When I did I was told that I can get was on a weekly rate and that 5-6-7 days were all the same price.
Pros: The location is convenient -- it's easy to access via public transportation. The price was better by $1-2 dollars a day.
Cons: The customer service was TERRIBLE. I've rented from here twice, about 2 years apart, and both experiences were very bad.
Nov 19 2015
Friendly & welcoming.
Apr 19 2016
Pros: did not rent a car
Cons: would love to say I rented a car but see my previous post
Apr 25 2016
I was severely overcharged
Cons: My rental quote was $80, the contract value was $225, which got reduced to $150, but my credit statement reads $315. Something is seriously wrong.
Jun 7 2016
Pros: The car we made the reservation for wasn't available, so we had to pay for a different more expensive one. Still the agent was kind and tried to help and the rest including the drop off went well. We left my husband's cell phone in the car so we had to go back and they returned it. That was good
Cons: We didn't like that they didn't have the car we we were expecting and we had to pay more for a new one, and the process took a long time.

Reeked of cigarette smoke
Pros: Drop off was fast.
Cons: Car in supposedly smoke-free fleet reeked of smoke. Attendant tried to help by spraying air freshener, which made odor worse. Budget should have given this car to anyone.
Sep 20 2016
Excellent customer service!
Pros: The staff is efficient, friendly and accomodating.
Pros: Customer service was excellent and agent was very helpful and diligent.
Cons: Car was not washed before pick up
Jul 13 2016
Cons: First, it was hard to find the location of Herz. I reserved the car for 8 and arrived at 9:15. The lady at the counter said I'm late so I can not rent the car. I called Herz and reserved for 10 a.m.. She wouldn't let me rent the car, saying that they are low on cars, but she gives other people their keys. I asked her to reserve a car for me at the airport. She reserved for me the most expensive car. My initial reservation was $120. She reserved for me for $300+. At the end I rented from enterprise. Enterprise has excellent customer service.
Nov 16 2016
Pros: Like that pick up and drop off is easy because you just use the hotel valet
Cons: Basic car, I've gotten cars with better features and upgrades from other companies

HERTZ DID NOT PROVIDE THE RENTAL
Cons: I did not receive the minivan that I reserved through KAYAK's website, nor did I receive ANY minivan from Hertz.
I sent an email to KAYAK and heard back from "Shannon" from customer service, saying that any and all mistakes were made by HERTZ.
My message was, in part, the following:
"I rented a minivan from Hertz (Confirmation # G8204778611) yesterday (Tuesday, January 19th) for pick-up at a Hertz location in Arlington, Virginia (1401 Lee Highway, Arlington VA) on Thursday (Jan. 21st at 10am). I was to drop off that minivan on Saturday (Jan. 23, 2016 at 9am) in Lincoln, Nebraska. The rental cost was $382.67. I also purchased rental insurance, amounting to another $27.00.
This afternoon (approximately 4pm, Wednesday January 20th), the 1401 Lee Highway Hertz location called, telling me that they DO NOT HAVE a minivan for me. I have been transferred from office to office, and no one can help. I need a minivan tomorrow (Thursday) at 10am, otherwise I will be stuck in DC for at least three additional days as a major snowstorm approaches.
So, why would KAYAK.COM advertise a minivan rental from a Hertz location which did not have a single minivan on hand? Hertz (both that local business, as well as the Customer Service center) cannot help me with a thing...."
If I cannot rely upon listings on Kayak.com, then I will need to re-direct my personal business to a responsible booking website, as well as inform my employer, my clients, my family, my friends, my fellow professional colleagues, professional affiliations, and any other person/institution in which I am affiliated, etc., that Kayak should be avoided.
I expect more than just an email from a customer service representative, trying to pass the buck off to Hertz and not even providing me with a phone number to speak to someone at Kayak about my situation.
I was almost stranded in Washington, DC, without a place to sleep and without any means to leave prior to the snowstorm. Kayak's response showed only indifference.
