Reserved at a location different than the airport
Pros: Ease of reserving on line
Cons: The rental was at a location in the center of the city in Phoenix. This was not made clear on the reservation and when I arrived at the airport the cost was double was quoted through kayak.

Cons: Horrible customer service from a representative who was not at all sympathetic about a booking error . Lots of hidden fees including $16 charge for satellite radio. Was misled about the local gas prices so I would by the fuel option. I would not book a rental through Hertz again

Horrible Customer Service
Cons: I called when I got to town to find out the location or if they pick you up and they said they couldn't find any reservation for me, what's worse is they said they had no cars available, I was like, yes you do because I have a reservation. We had to trek back to the airport 30 minutes away, wait in line for another rental place to get a car for the weekend and ending up spending more money than we budgeted.

Pros: Hertz Car Rental staff was friendly and helpful. The car was outstanding (Infiniti Q50) and check in/out was easy and efficient.

Cons: Search for airport rentals. I selected one from the list and rented it. When I went to pick it up at the airport, the pick-up spot was 15 miles away.
Pros: The price was $30 or more less than had I gone direct. Enterprise was terrific and the car worked out exactly the way I expected. The car had 5000 miles on it, and we got 36 miles per gallon. Had we taken our car, it would have cost more for gas than the rental AND the gas for this trip plus we didn't put miles on our car. Wonderful experience.

Ask and Don't Receive
Pros: The car was acceptable for the price and the location was near to where we were staying.
Cons: I called the day prior to try to pre-register to save time in order to quickly pick up the rental on the following day at 8 am to see Grand Canyon. The service person, Adam indicated everything would go quickly and smoothly when we arrived but he would not be there. We arrived at location early and when new person arrived we waited for 30 minutes for the entire process of paperwork and preparing car for rental (gas car up, clean, etc.). I was upset because this was supposed to be handled the day prior. The other problem was the car (Chevy Malibu) we rented had very loud inside car running noise the entire trip. 3 hours up and back. This was a bucket list trip for my 80 year old mom and it was dissapointing that it couldn't have been handled better.
