It is always easier to maneuver through an unknown city with a smaller car instead of a large and bulky one. If possible, rent a compact car to be able to navigate through traffic, find parking, and also pay a lower weekly rate in most cases. When planning to drive to the national forest or explore the natural surroundings, opt for a 4-wheel-drive car for the best traction.
It is important to always check posted speed limit signs and follow their listed speed limit. Generally, speed limits are 25 mph in residential areas, 65 mph on divided rural highways, and up to 75 mph on freeways and interstates. On the I-10 into Phoenix there is a Safety Corridor, which are lanes where accidents are more likely to occur and law enforcement is very strict (you could already get fined for going one or two miles over the speed limit).
There are free parking opportunities available in Scottsdale, for example in the 1st Ave Lot or Pepperwood Lot, but keep in mind that parking is restricted to two hours. In the Old Town, there are also plenty of garages and on-street parking spots available, but during the day on-street parking may be hard to find, so opting for the 3rd Ave parking garage, for instance, may be a better option.

Pros:The staff was super friendly, even when I was late to pick up my car! The car was super clean and the whole process was quick.
Cons:nothing! Price was fair!
8.0 Very good
Pros:Very good and easy. Concerned with short hour pickup and return. Also limited cars available
Cons:Easier hours for pickup and return. More than one employee when several people waiting.
Pros:We decided to rent at the airport, so I was happy that you had cars in stock.
Cons:The employee at the office was fairly rude. We arrived and was told that even though we booked a van, we were not guaranteed anything that big. Basically said, just because you booked a van, you might end up with a car. The van was older and scratched up. The passenger door handle on the inside was broken. It was fairly clean inside, so I was happy about that, but the van was tired and should not be rented anymore. National would not have a car like that in their inventory.
Pros:The car I reserved was “not available” no Hertz anywhere in Scottsdale/Phoenix had cars. The address listed was not a valid site.
Cons:Really having a car as planned. We had to scramble to change plans and find other transportation.

Pros:The store was supposed to be open until 5 but the manager said he was leaving at 2 on Friday so I had to return it by then.
Cons:The air conditioning didn’t work called to get different car they didn’t have one. Never called back for final four days of trip. Temperature was in middle 80s
Pros:Exceptional customer service at this location.
Pros:This particular location has the nicest, hardest working people offering the best services they possibly can
Pros:Good car, great value for the amount of time that used the SUV.
Cons:Chris Frieh the agency operator was finally able to get a SUV for me. But he could never commit when there would be an SUV available. In fact, I took an SUV that was returned with 3/4 tank of gas and not cleaned because I needed to leave right at noon.
Pros:Staff in Scottsdale were super nice and the price was great.
Cons:Pick-up spot had a very limited selection of vehicles. Upgrade was ridiculously priced - meant to deter us from taking it because it was a one way rental.

Pros:Nothing, worst customer svc ever
Cons:Everything, will never rent from them again!!
Pros:Drop off and pick up was super easy. The car was brand new, clean, and had every feature I wanted.
Cons:Would love to be able to communicate with customer support over the phone but instead you can only speak with a robot. Good luck getting to speak with anyone if you have questions or issues.
Pros:The pickup/drop off location person (Marc) was very nice and did what he could to help but his hands were tied by the company limiting what he was able to do.
Cons:The first car we got had mechanical issues and we had to return it 10 minutes after leaving the shop. The second vehicle we got had major mechanical issues. We had to drive 30 minutes back to the shop. The third vehicle we got was a sedan not an SUV which is what we requested when making the reservation. I have lodged a complaint with customer service and have asked for a full credit. We spent a total of 4.5 hours going back and forth trying to get into a safe, working vehicle. We lost an entire day of travel and did not end up with an SUV which was challenging for some of the places we visited. We were not able to go to certain places in the sedan because those locations required four wheel drive to access. Overall it was not a good experience. A car rental company of this caliber should have properly working and safe vehicles for their customers. The individual locations should be able to offer more customer service and better solutions for their clients. Sixt is over-priced for what they claim to offer and I hope that customer service will recognized the failures. The vehicles were unsafe which put us at risk and our vacation plans were significantly altered due to not having four whell drive. Very disappointing.
Pros:Yes and Yes....
Cons:Didn't know I needed to put a $200 deposit down until right before I was leaving. Other than that, all was GREAT!
Pros:Staff was VERY good
Cons:My confirmation and reservation clearly stated unlimited mileage but when I arrived the counter said it absolutely was not and informed me that i could not leave the State
7 locations in Scottsdale
Pros:Had to use the car extra days and staff was super helpful.
Cons:Letting the customer know that they could pick up and drop off at other locations. I needed a ride 7 miles away. I was told they could not take me over 4 miles. The facility was understaffed but polite.
Pros:Staff was very friendly
Cons:I did not get my vehicle until 3 1/2 hours after my requested time.
Cons:They did not rent with Panama drivers license!!! A first
Cons:Vehicle originally rented was not available and the replacement option was not luxury....the replacement (van )took over 1.5 hours to get ready. The inside of the van was filthy dirty and I had to personally disinfect it before our trip. The salesman offered an 8 % discount which was not worth switching vehicle types. With covid going on, I assumed the cleaning process would be more through to prevent the spread.
Pros:Super easy pick up and drop off. Friendly staff!
Cons:All good. Thx.

Pros:Not much. Car was okay.
Cons:Didn't get the car I requested. Received a big gas guzzling SUV instead. Gas tank was only about 3/4 full. Returned the car with a full tank and was expecting some type of credit. Attendant Mike T. laughed and said no, but thanks for filling up the car! Writing letter to AVIS. Not a happy customer.
Pros:The cost Car was comfortable
Cons:Smelled like cigarettes and feet
Pros:It was affordable and clean. I got the exact car I rented.
Cons:The extra third party insurance fee I paid & didn't need.
Cons:Told I got a free upgrade only to be informed at the other end I was charged. Some roadside assistance charge added as well without my knowledge. Customer service don't want to know. Never again Avis!!
Pros:Easy pick-up & drop-off staff member was accommodating
Cons:car was not clean to typical Avis standards: dog hair in rear of vehicle, windows needed a cleaning
