If you're going on a road trip or plan to drive off-road, an SUV or crossover with all-wheel drive may be more appropriate. Consider the amount of luggage you'll be carrying. You may want a car with ample trunk space or a roof rack for additional storage if you have significant luggage or equipment. A car with good air conditioning is essential if you are traveling during hot weather. If you're visiting during winter, you might prefer a vehicle with heated seats or all-wheel drive for better traction on icy roads.

Cons:
The car smelled smoky inside. Alamo should have cleaned and aired out the car a few times before renting it again. It smelled like they tried to clean it, but it wasn't enough2.0 Poor

Cons:
I rented a Premium class car and they gave me a Chevrolet Malibu. As I loaded the car and began to set the mirrors, seat, etc… I noticed a bad smell. Like someone had smoked in the car or something, so I rolled down the windows and continued but once I started driving the car the smell got worse. I also noticed a warning light on the dash. Being only a short way away I returned to the rental area. I explained what happened, and the agent smelled the car and apologized. He said he was going to provide an upgraded car and he told me I could have the Infiniti Q60. I didn’t know what that was, but once I saw it I told the agent it wouldn’t work as it was too small and only had two doors. He said it was a much upgraded car and that he didn’t have anything else. So I loaded the new car and was on my way. After a few miles I began to get cold as the a/c was pushing cold air very strongly. I tried to turn it off, but couldn’t figure out the system. Also, this was a night and the dashboard was lit way too bright, but none of the manual controls were illuminated (a/c, radio, etc). Again, I couldn’t find a way to dim the light. No scrolling wheel near the steering wheel like most models. It must have been in the electronic settings somewhere, but I couldn’t find it. Finally, as I drove back to the airport the following day I noticed the dash clock was like 10 hours off. I also couldn’t find the method to set the clock on the dash. To say the least I was not happy with the rental. I share that at the return counter and after some time they returned some of my rental fee, but that didn’t not negate the fact I didn’t have a suitable car or one that was easy to use during my shirt stay. I hope Alamo considers this in the future when renting future cars. One location in Woodland
