9.5 Excellent
Pros: I love living over a restaurant/pub. A self-contained place. This is real boutique with stylish and cool furnishings and touches.
Cons: Nothing not to like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic place with top level customer service and wonderfull touches throughtout the stay. 2 great restaurants downstairs meant you didn't have to travel for food. All of the staff were about making the stay magical. This was a one night stop on a 10 day business trip and I wish I could have stayed longer - it was that good. It brought back to me what a traditional great stay is all about - a refresh from the days toils in a great space with just the right amount of friendly customer service. I will return.
Cons: Nothing at all
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The complementary breakfast ( coffee, juice, pastries) was outstanding. Also, all of the products in the hotel were handmade. Smelled so good! Loved this place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel felt very comfortable...like home. The cafe for breakfast was nice...great coffee!!!
Cons: No refrigerator in the room. Had to pay for HBO. Had to pay for parking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this hotel was exceptional. We loved the extra added touches like the fact that they had a pack and play set up for us, there were fresh flowers in our room. The toiletries were all essential oil based and I think homemade. The shower was large and I loved the little basket of drinks in the room. The next day the breakfast was delivered to our room and it was so good. Homemade scone, apple danish, flaky croissants, juice, amazing coffee. When we checked out, the staff remembered to ask us who won the Twins game.
Cons: There are lots of stairs to get to the hotel rooms but the staff are helpful. The parking lot is on a hill and it was a little tough maneuvering a manual transmission car into the tight spots.
6.8 Good
Pros: Location was good. Restaurant food was excellent.
Cons: Breakfast was very tasty but annoying. We had to choose the same thing for both ot us. I like bread; my wife likes pastries. We could only choose one basket of bread OR pastries. It would have been nice to be able to get eggs for the room price we paid. The room was cutesy but not very functional. There were no convenient places to put our suitcases, no closet, no dresser. We had to ask for a table to put our suitcases on and a refrigerator. Alma is upscale from many of the usual hotel chains, but most of those hotel chains, even the lower end ones, give you more of the practical things a traveler needs to be comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well appointed and tastefully decorated room. Good location. Staff was great.
Cons: None
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was incredibly accommodating, the rooms were excellent and the breakfast was delicious!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I Love this Hotel and café! The hotel is nicely appointed with amenities (especially enjoyed the Bespoke Body & Wellness products!). The breakfast (included in the cost of the room) is Divine!!! You can have it sent to your room or eat in the café. I highly recommend the selected pastries, especially the Blueberry Danish. The décor is modern and spacious (for one). And the bed and pillows were super comfortable. Enjoyed dining in the Café; the food and servers are great! Similar to the room, the décor is modern, yet comfortable. The staff is personable; even had a wonderful conversation with Todd, the Innkeeper. Would definitely stay at Hotel Alma again for its value and numerous amenities!
Cons: No complaints!

The Covington Houseboat - Saint Paul - Building
3
9.6 Excellent (71 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Stay the night on the Mississippi River – literally – at the Covington Inn. This houseboat is trimmed stem to stern in mahogany, brass and bronze, extending to guests the elegant comfort once reserved aboard historic work vessels for company executives and VIPs. Windows and portals in the boat's tiered design draw light into each room. Sleeping quarters feature a mix of ingenious built-in cabinets with simple furnishings from the Covington's work era. Salvaged fixtures, nautical antiques and historic art provide tasteful reminders of the river and the inn's past life. Sitting permanently moored within the reflection of downtown St. Paul's towering skyline, The Capitol, museums, theater, fine dining and shopping wait just across the bridge. Offering a place for both a quiet getaway and the city spree, the Covington does it all. Beyond the privacy of the staterooms, the salon provides a comfortable gathering place. Lit with clerestory windows and furnished with fireside couches and window-front tables, the salon offers a great place for breakfasting, letter writing and browsing through the Covington library of historic river and shipping books. Our breakfasts, cooked in the boat's galley, pamper you with just a touch of the gourmet while fueling a full-day's exploration.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was by far the best I've ever had in either a hotel or a bed and breakfast. Liz is the perfect hostess, she took such good care of us! She listened to my husband's old jokes, and even laughed. She made an excellent recommendation for a Mexican meal. She even let us spoil her adorable dog. For dog lovers like us, being able to pet Jay Jay was an added perk.
Cons: The weather was the only thing that wasn't perfect. We had one cold rainy day, but even then it was fun to sit in our cozy room and watch the river.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: It was perfect! The ambiance was beyond our expectations. Can't say enough good things about it. And Gabby, the concierge, was above and beyond. If I'm ever back in Saint Paul there's no question about where to stay. Will miss you Saint Paul Hotel!!!
Cons: The only thing is we didn't know was that the mini bar and in-room treats were weight activated. When you picked the bottle of nuts up, you were charged. But as soon as we realized this and brought it to their attention, there was no problem in waiving the fees.

Pros: The linens were phenomenal! So soft and clean!!! Comfort of the bed was amazing and bath towels were just perfect!! Really made us feel as though we were in a spa!!
Cons: When I picked up my car from valet it was covered in snow. It was obviously parked outside which was not acceptable for the price I pay for this type of hotel and for valet parking. On top of it the drivers did not even care enough to scrape off all of the snow.....

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was lit!
Cons: That I didn't bring a bathing suit to enjoy the pool
6.3 Good
Pros: The location was great. We were able to walk to Whole Foods and the Guthrie Theater from the hotel. Great shopping in the neighborhood too.
Cons: We were awoken by a fire alarm that they called a drill. Nonetheless, we got out of bed, got dressed in a rush & walk down the stairs. Later we were told it was the sauna & the 5th floor was flooded by sprinklers. The rooftop pool & sauna ( a part of the reason I paid more to stay here versus other hotels) was closed as a result. No one asked about our stay on checkout as they seemed consumed by the chaotic situation. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Staff were not great. Definitely not hospitable. Seemed really stuck up.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is awesome! They’ve thought of everything and if I didn’t want to leave my room I’d never have to. Super close to bars and restaurants and so comfortable. The bed and pillows were amazing. I’m a MN local and loved my stay here. I’m basing my next getaway on where Loews hotels are, and deciding the place to visit second.
Cons: The only complaint is that you can hear a lot of the cars and the walls are thin. The maids were really loud outside of our room.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location is centrally located and perfect for walking around to other neighborhoods. There's a nice large bar/lounge area on the 4th floor where we grabbed drinks a couple times during our stay. The bed was comfortable.
Cons: The water pressure and temperature in the shower repeatedly fluctuated from hot to cold and sometimes turned off entirely. We mentioned it to the front desk in the evening when we left for dinner but our request was never followed up by staff. We also asked the concierge for a couple simple recommendations and the response was "I don't know." There were coffee cups left on a side table by the elevators on our floor and sat there the entire weekend. These are all minor inconveniences but left us underwhelmed and disappointed when previous reviews raved about the hotel.
10.0 Excellent

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and the staff were helpful, prompt and friendly. They all went above and beyond expectations.
Cons: I wish the elevator would go right down to the parking garage, but I understand it's probably the way it is for security.

Pros: The location connected to Mall of America was very convenient and being relatively new meant ample plug ins and newer beds and TVs. The Cedar + Stone restaurant downstairs was also fantastic.

Pros: Breakfast was excellent with a broad array of options.
Cons: Spare roll of toilet paper in the room. I was choosing to not have housekeeping (to be able to contribute a few $$ toward St. Jude's) which left the toilet paper a little sparse by the end of 3 day stay.

5.5 Okay
Pros: It looked very nice and it was a convenient location for me as the place I needed to go didn’t vary far.
Cons: The toilet was not cleaned and when lifting up the blanket I could see the dirt when shined in the light. Which made me uncomfortable.

Pros: Restaurant scored well, Staff was very friendly, enjoyed my stay and will stay again in the future
8.0 Excellent
Pros: very clean and great location.
Cons: I stayed another night, but I asked the front desk clerk if I would have the same rate as the night before, and he said yes. Upon checking out that morning, I've noticed that the second night was $60.00 more that the previous night. miss information.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The cleanliness, workout room and quiet.
Cons: No shuttle service to airport ortransit depot
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Workout facilities and lobby/meeting area were first rate. Parking was easy-peasey. Visually, the Delta is a beautiful hotel.
Cons: Paper-thin walls. Awakened by other guests’ alarms, and we were audibly ringside to a couple fighting across the hall. We raced to get out of our room to dinner, so as to not have to listen to more than 20 minutes of ugliness between other guests.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and staff friendly and welcoming. Pool was a strong plus. The room was bright with windows, and the pool is part salt water so less chlorine needed. Workout area also very nice with several treadmills, elliptical, and weights. Food at the attached restaurant was good with friendly service.
Cons: The walls are thin and at night I heard neighbors talking loudly and people in the hall very clearly. I turned on the air and this was resolved.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was clean and beautifully decorated. The staff were incredibly friendly and promptly helped us with whatever questions we had for them.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great bed, pillows, curtains I liked. Quiet, good night's sleep. Excellent staff (obvious excellent leadership).

Pros: Very nice hotel
Cons: No issues
8.0 Excellent
Pros: scenery - able to watch airport activity. Easy check in from 3rd floor. Cool decor
Cons: parking - walk long ways from parking to lobby.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Decor was modern and appealing.
Cons: They did not plan for enough shuttles and 3 different staff gave us 3 different solutions to the problem. It ended up working out OK, as they found another shuttle, but the first response was “Sorry we are booked.” As convenience was the only reason I booked there, it was not a suitable response.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really nice rooms. TSA at the hotel for am flights allow walking from your room into the airport.
Cons: The pub restaurant was OK but the atmosphere was uncomfortable.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: TSA checkpoint in the hotel.
Cons: Rooms were very dimly lit. And blue night light was blindingly bright.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Had flight delays and was able to get here without an Uber.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great for travelers needing to stay at the airport
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Front desk greets you with a smile and the room was great. Very comfortable bed and the in room dining made my night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I will never shut up about how amazing this place is. Been on a road for three weeks driving through USA and omg this place is so beautiful. I will come back soon and will recommend this place to everyone. Rooms are spacious, clean and beds are some of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever laid in. Pillows are magical. Bathroom and the whole entire room and hotel is spotless clean. It’s magical place. Mall of America is few minutes away and hotel provides a free shuttle. Airport is right next door too and we saw planes take off all day! Couldn’t hear them but we saw them. Best sleep I had in last three weeks. Wow!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The lounge are was a blast! So many games/activities to do - not just the usual pool table and foosball but life size Scrabble, carpet pool, at least 50 board games to choose from. Upscale/upbeat atmosphere. Great for kids too!
Cons: When I booked a hotel in this area I did not expect to pay for parking, I was very disappointed to find out hotel guests had to pay the regular airport parking rate ($29/day). I understand it's the only place to park, it was just a surprise.
6.8 Good
Cons: The nearly $200 "room" I rented didn't come with a bed! They gave me and my two kids half a suite with a pull-out sofa!
7.5 Good
Pros: The beds were comfy.
Cons: We were wrongly charged $87.00 for a $45.00 meal at the grill that we paid for in cash and tipped the waitress generously (like 21%). When I called the Billing department i was on hold for a LONG time, the lady was short with me when she spoke to me, and I couldn't hear or understand her. She told me there was nothing she could do for me and she hung up on me when I was still talking to her. When we came back to the hotel the receptionist helped us and said we would get a full refund for that $87.00. I am still waiting for my refund. But the stay itself was great.

Pros: Very nice hotel near Union Depot which was important to us since we traveled by train. Nice staff. Very big suite with an extra bedroom. Luxurious bathroom and a kitchenette. And breakfast was complimentary ! Very clean. And they were very accommodating about a late check out.
Cons: We couldn’t use the kitchenette since it had no tableware and cutlery. When you book a room as a family I don’t understand that you have to make your own bed in a hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: ten minutes before we arrived I received a call saying they were over-booked and were putting us in a best western. This also happened last year!

Pros: The rooms were HUGE!!!

7.5 Good
Pros: Location on Nicollet island is very nice, walking distance from downtown. Area with many very good reataurants and cafes. Hotel reataurant is very good but expensive. Staff are very friendly.
Cons: No laundry service nor laundromat. No gym in hotel nor nearby. No coffee making equipment in room, but available in morning hours near elevators.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beds and pillows were amazing! Parking is super easy and plenty of room. The property was beautifully located on Nicollet Island with many things to see all within walking distance! The hotel so cool and is a historical building. Staff extremely helpful and the entire hotel was spotless!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved everything
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: What breakfast??? There was NO breakfast included - not even a doughnut crumb. The location of the hotel was great. Too bad the price to stay there was OUTRAGEOUS for what you received.
Cons: NO: coffee or water in rooms ($2.00 for a plastic bottle of cheap water???) (you have to go to the elevator to even get coffee???), mini fridge, glasses for drinking, complementary roll or fruit in the morning, mattress on bed was lumpy/worn out, staff - especially in the bar - were rude and condescending. We will NEVER stay at this place again! You would think for the $$$$$ for the room you would at least get the aforementioned and be treated with respect.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely hotel in a great location - quiet, close to trails, the university, downtown Minneapolis, NE Minneapolis - diverse restaurants and bars. The hotel restaurant is also very good.
Cons: We stayed 3 nights, and there was virtually no housekeeping - we had to ask for soap when we arrived, and our room was not cleaned on either of the 2 full days that we were there - my colleague had the same thing happen in his room. For several hundred dollars a night, I don't think it is too much to expect to come home at the end of a long day and have the bed made and a clean glass for drinking. The person at the desk apologized when we complained at check out, but on the other hand said - yes, we didn't have housecleaning yesterday but you could have requested clean towels or anything you needed. If this was an accidental situation, they should have left guests a message explaining the situation and apologizing beforehand rather than leaving it up to the guests to request accommodation. I have stayed here before because I like a lot of things about this hotel, but may look for somewhere else next time I'm in town.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location to show our Iowa friends our beautiful city.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This historical hotel is not far from Twins ballpark. It is clean and easy to walk to other parts of Minneapolis on the Mississippi river. This is our second time staying at hotel and walking to Twins game.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This was a great boutique hotel with a good restaurant.
Cons: They deliver ice to the room, but on one occasion, I think they forgot, as it was not delivered before I had leave (15 min). Also, coffee is in the hall. They were out, so I had to call, then they delivered coffee and no cream, so I made 2 calls and 3 trips down the hall before I had my morning coffee. Slight inconvenience, but understand why they do it...hard to find room in old hotel room for modern amenities without destroying charm
6.3 Good
Pros: Excellent location. Expensive, limited selection breakfast. Dinner and lunch excellent. Restaurant and views excellent. Free parking. Good for walking.
Cons: Gloomy, dark and outdated decor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and staff were exceptional Bedt short

Pros: Well appointed hotel. Impeccable in every detail.
Cons: More coffee selection in the room would have been nice.
7.0 Good
Pros: Staff was friendly. Location near the Orpheum theater was great.
Cons: Smoke alarm hanging from ceiling. Red wine stains on bathroom floor. Toilet flush button really hard to use. Did not figure out how to navigate the TV other than channel by channel which seemed slow response and I found that frustrating.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, beautiful hotel, nice rooms, great location.
Cons: N/a
5.5 Okay
Pros: Nice big room
Cons: Clock on the phone is 20 minutes out, could not be fixed, and no one seemed to be bothered, clock by the bed 2 minutes out, one of the light fittings had masking tape around it, took 2 days to be resolved. When the kitchen closes early so does the room service option, and the hotel has no clue what to do next, as they might be reading this, the answer is to recommend some that does serve food after 9pm, very simple really, but the answer you expect for a big brand that’s lost it’s way in understanding without guests it does not have a business.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good but a little pricey.
Cons: No ice machines
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is central to everything downtown. It has an excellent restaurant and groovy speakeasy in the basement.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, modern, clean and cozy. Love the art work and then comfortable bedding. Great location also!
Cons: The espresso machine in the room wasn’t super easy to use but it wasn’t a big deal at all.

7.0 Good
Pros: bathroom was nice

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location in city & very friendly and helpful staff
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was good and the location for us worked well since we came to see the Twins and Braves game
Cons: We had issues with our AC once we came back from the baseball game, someone tried to come and fix it didn’t really seem to know what was wrong with it then it just started to work finally. At 1:40 am we woke up and realized that the heat was on and became unbearably hot in our room and the unit would not turn off. We then had to switch rooms at 2 am and we were not compensated for the hassle we experienced. We were then given $20 to target although we spent over $300 to stay 2 nights and spent additional money to park. There should be some way the hotel could have reimbursed us even if we used an online booking site. We were very unhappy that there wasn’t more the hotel could do for us for the price we paid.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff at the front desk when I checked in was great. We had a little issue where my room got checked in to someone else on accident but they were on the ball with getting me into a different room. I like the security of the hotel. You need your card to get in the front door and to ride the elevator. Being downtown it’s just nice to have that extra security and knowing you’re safe.
Cons: Besides the issue with check in, there weren’t any issues.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I enjoyed my stay, very kind staff. The service was very good and clean Very nice property.
Cons: I can´t believe that the main curtains don't shut down all the way. There is a bright light in front of the hotel from the building in front that keeps the room lit all night, I called front desk but seems that it is just that way. It is basic for guests to get a room that can be fully obscure even in daylight. I recommend you work on that. Thank you
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfy and close to attractions
Cons: The toilet did not plush properly at all times.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The only thing that was convient was the skywalk to get to the parking garage
Cons: The staff was terrible. Very unhelpful and weren’t accommodating when I was dissatisfied with the room. They had open rooms yet refused to find another room
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, bright, great staff. Nice place!
Cons: Parking.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: great location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was excellent. The staff was friendly. The cleanliness of the room when I got there. The breakfast was awesome. Place was great.
Cons: Wish you would of had a pool.

6.0 Good
Pros: Location to the event I was attending
Cons: Did not get the room I booked right away... Hotel employee contacted me and I was able to switch but I was late for my meeting.. Hotel employee was excellent and fixed the problem after someone else could not... had to move from my original
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We liked the comfort of the rooms, the free breakfast and nightly reception. We liked how close it was to our event. We especially were happy when our room was upgraded due to a problem with our booking!
Cons: We wish that the nightly reception could be in a larger room. There are not enough seats for the amount of people staying and enjoying that service. Also, prices vary so much depending on events in town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I like how you need your guest card to basically get around anywhere in the hotel. I loved the breakfast and the rooms, it's a very esthetically pleasing hotel. I LOVE the location so much!
Cons: I dont think there was anything I didn't like about our stay. It was overall a great one! A little expensive but it was worth it.
4.5 Okay
Pros: - Central Location in Minneapolis Downtown - Breakfast acceptable, however, weak side on the bread/toast section (not much choice)
Cons: - The toilet seat was broken at check-in time. - The rooms are very noisy, you can literally hear everything your neighbour does. - The room doors are heavy, they slam loudly when closing. The first person opening/closing the door in the morning wakes up everyone. - Reception initially assigned a wrong room to me at the check-in. Even after correcting the mistake (I noticed it within 2 minutes), Hilton still tried to automatically deduct the 1,800 Dollar room charge for the second room as well as the deposit every night during my stay. After staying almost one weak in this hotel, I was very happy to leave as I got increasingly unrested. If you seek comfortable sleep, go somewhere else.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location for Target Field was awesome 4 blocks away, Breakfast was good as always boy can they make an omelet.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: My partner was feeling ill and we wanted to check in early so that she could rest several hours before a Twins game. The Hotel staff accommodated our request with grace and sympathy.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Nothing was said online or anywhere that we saw that the parking would be $48 a night! And it was pretty much mandatory, because of course there was no street parking to speak of. We were very unhappy about that parking fee. Breakfast buffet was cold
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was very spacious & clean. Beds were comfy. Staff was friendly & accommodating. The daily manager’s reception from 5:30-7:30 is an awesome touch and the breakfast is outstanding.

Pros: easy walk to museum, stores, Guthrie
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very great location! You are within walking distance to almost everything and a short walk from the metro lines. The kitchenette in the room was very good as we decided to cook one night and had all utensils and appliances we needed. The continental breakfast was also a nice touch and the food was good as well. It was crowded every morning, but that’s to be expected as it seems many business professionals were at the hotel during my stay.
Cons: An older building it seems so the rooms weren’t as modern or up to date. Also some of the staff weren’t as friendly, but that’s not something to deter me from staying again as I do not pay for niceness. Overall it is a great hotel with many amenities in an even better location.

Pros: Everything was clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was really good. The staff was super friendly.
Cons: There was only one ice machine, unfortunately it was located at the complete other end of the hotel than our room. The pull out bed mattress wasn't very forgiving, and could use updating.
