I liked the fact that the rooms were updated and modern. There was nothing that was not available that you would need in the room itself. Very clean and smells like green tea. Everything that was offered was natural or organic. Beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was wonderful. They rain shower head was a great added bonus. We stayed on the 3rd floor not much of a view. You heard the train pass by but it was not overwhelming, but I'm from the city so I'm used to it I guess. The the electrical panel box was located in the hallway of the room within a child's reach and it was not locked so I'd be very careful with children alone in the rooms with being so exposed

We love having the shuttle service available in a 5 mile radius. Room is very comfortable. I feel at home whenever we stay at the Elrment Harrison. We wish the pool was heated. Also, we wish that the breakfast hours were extended. Wish there was a convenience store opened nearby.
this is newly open, we believe there is no bedbug infestation yet..... cleaning people are not guided on when customers are checking out....they did not clean our room until we requested them during the night......they came back the following morning asking us if we want the room clean (that was the day we are checking out)....... no shops around the area

We chose Hampton Riverwalk for its location, and it truly worked out exactly, and really, even better, than we expected! LOVED having the shuttle service from the airport, then each day to and from the Penn Station! Your drivers were Great, and made our nervousness about maneuvering through the Rapid Transit in New Jersey/New York, a good experience. Thank you!
There was quite a lot of noise from the trains that ran by on a regular basis
I was only there one night but I was very comfortable. When I needed questions answered the staff was cheerful and very helpful. Breakfast was great too.

Very friendly staff. Close to NJ Transit and PATH into NYC. Great diner nearby. Great breakfast in the lobby. Only flaw was that it is on a flight path for planes taking off and leaving, so occasionally you hear a plane, but just once in a while. And not overly loud
the hotel is in a very good standard, except for the location. if you have a car, there is nothing to complain. The breakfast is terrific.
Clean Nice breakfast Hotel was full when we arrived, so instead of double Queen beds they gave us King bed. When I asked for rollaway bed, they had none as well, so I had to sleep on a chair. In the morning I spoke to manager who told me to open a HHonors account so that he can give me some points. I tried to contact him multiple times, but no response. Nice way to treat your long time customers! Will go elsewhere next time.
The bed was comfy and divine! Check out time was noon. Service fell short. Shuttle took 40 minutes to arrive; I had to call twice. Massive plane delays brought me in at 3 a.m. and it was not fun waiting yet again. First room shown smelled to me of smoke; no problem about changing rooms. However, she said she would slip a new room key under the door while i could sleep (almost 4 a.m. by now) and she did not. It was easier to not leave the room when I woke (bc very tired) then to deal with trying to get a new key to my room when I would be checking out soon. I left hotel at 11:30ish a.m. without coffee but showered.
They set up a pack and play and refrigerator. Huge win! No bellman to bring our bags up. We had to push the luggage cart ourselves. The restaurant was initially rude when I asked to take food upstairs (to my husband and sleeping daughter). I was surprised that this was supposed to be "in" the airport but it still required a van to access. They will not direct you to a walking path. The van was included (nice) but the driver refused to go to the premier counter, leaving us to lugg baby and bags up multiple flights. Not as easy as for a solo business traveller
Lobby and restaurants remodeled. You can walk to terminals but a shuttle is provided. Best place you can stay when departing from EWR.
Had to pay for computer access in business suite, no free TV channels…..everything was promotional.
The place was very clean and nice, and very professional looking. If you're not a posh business person, it isn't the best. We made the mistake of ordering Dominos to the room, and the hotel was obviously not very happy about "fast food" coming. First of all, they gave the delivery person a hard time and accused her of not really having customers here and being shady, before they finally called my room. Once I confirmed we had indeed ordered pizza, they wouldn't even let the delivery person come into the hotel, and I had to go outside to meet them.
A shout-out to the Newark Airport Marriott for their excellent customer service. Having taken a red-eye and landing in Newark at 5:55 yesterday morning, we went straight to the Marriott, not necessarily to check in, but to have them be aware that we were there, because we knew we wouldn't be back to use it until around midnight. The night clerk decided just to check us in early, at 6:30 a.m. We never went to the room, but left for our day in NJ and NY (and Neal Gottlieb 's Survivor viewing party, which was attended by so many relatives and friends). When we returned to the Marriott just past midnight, we attempted to print our board passes for this morning. When that didn't work, the same night clerk offered to try during the night and have them for us in the morning. Great. We went to our assigned room, and when we opened the door, we saw it was a wreck. It had not been cleaned at all. So it was a trip back to our now favorite night clerk. After explaining the situation, a supervisor got involved. We received an apology, and an upgrade to an executive suite which included a full breakfast. Thank you, Marriott!
Got in at midnight and still able to grab a quick bit in the restaurant/lounge! Staff was great and never made us feel rushed.
Everyrhubg was great above average on all things.. Great service and room service food was beyond great.. One very rude women that was a clerk at the front desk about 3am in the morning needs to be fired. I don't want to give the hotel a bad review because of her. I asked about the shuttle and all were more than happy to call the bus driver. They said tell us when you are ready.. I walked outside and came back in and there was another clerk there. I said you can call the shuttle driver now please, I'm ready. She answered very ugly and rude sharp '' when I have time I will'' there were no customers at the desk. No reason that I should have been treated like that. I just thought to myself welcome to new jersey where all the rude selfish people in the world live and blew it off. But what needs to be realized is that people like this on staff there will cause this great hotel to lose customers.

The rooms and staff were nice The shuttle service was very poor. Understaffed shuttle service for people trying to make flights. If you are going to use mini-vans, you need to have more of them, or have bigger shuttles on stand-by.
Great bed, nice room layout, very quiet and dark which was nice for sleeping. If you close the curtains you will not be able to tell you are essentially in an airport. Restaurant was okay -- not bad, not great. A bit expensive for the quality.

1st- Decent breakfast 2nd- Could not hear the airplanes even though we where right next to the airport. 3rd- After having an issue with the first morning having the lobby and breakfast area completely blocked by a school group, they moved them to a conference room are for the next 2 days to resolve it. 4th- Had plenty of power outlets around the desk. 5th- The free wifi internet was not slow, making it unnecessary to purchase the $9.99 a day "upgraded high speed" pass. After reading reviews for all the hotels in the area and seeing mixed reviews for all,I decided to to try each hotel for a few nights to see which was the best. Facing a 2-3 month stay in the area, I was going to be able to try a few. This was my second hotel after Holiday Inn Newark, so here is what I got. 1st- No bottled water in the room, maybe this is just a Northern US thing, because most major hotels in the Southern US and West coast have 1 or 2 free bottled waters in the room. 2nd- Had to pay $15+tax a day for parking even though when reviewing the description of the hotel it said there was a "Surcharge" for extended parking, it did't show the fees for parking until after booking even though it showed it as an amenity. I mean, I didn't have to pay for the pool, business center, gym, or elevator use, and they were all listed as amenities without noting a surcharge. 3rd- There was a smell to the room I couldn't place. It was a light smoke and minor mold smell. I got used to it after being the room for a few hours but every time I left and came back, there it was. 4th- Fridge was the smallest fridge you could possible find, like 1.2 ft2.
The room was super clean and spacious. I would stay here for leisure or business anytime. We even had a little view of the city and planes coming into Newark Liberty. My wife and I drove here from Ohio and this was the perfect balance of what we needed. Cost effective + parking + NYC access A little far from the city and public transit but with a little creativity you can get there in no time for only a few dollars.
Overall the hotel was beautiful. The room was very spacious and neat. My stay was very pleasant. The jacuzzi was out of order and the pool water appeared to be dirty. I didn't like that you have to pay for parking if you booked a room and that you only have 1 hour of free parking.
Upon arrival we found a spacious room which was very clean and updated furniture with comfortable double beds. Microwave and mini fridge were included as well as free parking. The free breakfast was nothing fancy but was adequate and got the job done. I was happy to find my favorite Kashi cereal, but the coffee wasn't to my liking. Overall I would definitely book this room again.

Convenient shuttle to the airport They provided me with take out menus for nearby delivery I ordered delivery from a nearby Italian restaurant and they delivered it right to my hotel room door. Nice indoor pool and jacuzzi There is no bar or restaurant in this hotel you have to walk down a road where there is no sidewalk to get to the Courtyard Marriot which is a short walk but 2 doors down to get to the food and bar. Menu and bar is extremely small.
The room was spacy The front desk put me on hold for 7 minutes, come back and ask to put me on hold again. I hung up. Front desk absent for 5-10 on check out at 450am. Front desk needs to be retrained
Everything, microwave and fridge were available without extra charge, relaxing atmosphere and i felt safe in the environment. No dislikes here.

There is no noise from outside creeping in or from people in the hallways. The bed is very comfortable. The price is right. Food selection at breakfast is very limited. No other meals are available at the property and it is inconvenient to find a restaurant nearby. Parking fees are high.
Location Housekeeping waking you up early by knocking once and opening the door on you, even if the lock is on. It's annoying!!! Check out @ 11am they'll be attempting to open the door on you around 9am.
The staff was helpful for the most part. The room, the facility in general, was poorly maintained and run down. It felt like a dirty cheap motel. I asked the housekeeper to clean my room when I went to breakfast, nothing was done. I asked again at dinner and I came back to a pile of towels thrown on my suitcase, and the bed sheet just thrown on the bed. I called housekeeping who tried to explain that only the supervisor was on duty and that the do not disturb sign was on. This was not the case when I twice asked housekeeping to clean the room.
The price for the weekend was great but on Monday it double Not the best at all!!!

For $79 plus tax on a weekend night through kayak, it was great. There were only two things: 1) The room could use a mini-fridge. 2) Saturday morning, around 8:30 am, there was house music blasting from the first floor that you could easily hear on the second floor. I realize this was from a group holding a gathering there on Saturday morning, and would be hell on anyone who checked in late, but I couldn't blame the hotel.
No hot water. Reported this to staff. No results, one week apart. Seems like they could care less
The location is extremely convenient to travel to and from Airport. The hotel amenities are very basic. It just provides stay. There is no microwave in the room. The restrooms are too small and there is no exhaust vent. The power receptacles are limited and located in very inconvenient location inside the room. So, charging phones can be frustrating.

Okay for a budget short term stay. Decent proximity to Newark airport with free shuttle to AirTrain station running every 30 minutes. Staff was courteous. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Hallways and shared spaces smelled stale/ like faint cigarette smoke and were humid/ not air conditioned for most of our stay. Our air conditioner in the room was also not functional.

We liked that it was so close to the Newark airport & the free shuttle ran every 30 minutes to/from the airport. The staff members weren't rude, but not really friendly either. The room was very small - it barely fit the 2 double beds in it.
What I really liked about this hotel is that all the staff is very nice. All the staff would say hello if they walked past you and were very helpful. I also liked that the bar and convenience store were open later than the other hotels in the area. My sister and I wouldn't get back to the hotel until 10:00pm to 12:00am and we were able to get a bite to eat and have a drink before going to bed. You can tell this is an older hotel so there is little things that could have been better but for the most part you could tell the management was really trying to get the hotel fixed up so the little things didn't really bother me like they would some people. When my sister and I first sat on the bed it seemed really hard and uncomfortable but it didn't turn out to be an uncomfortable sleeping experience. It was actually quite comfortable for my sister and I. If you are someone that needs a softer bed I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The location of the hotel was a bit confusing because the hotel is right off the highway so if you are going too fast you will most likely miss it and have to go all the way around again. So if you are someone taking uber and lyft just make sure your driver knows about when to turn into the hotel so you don't have to pay extra. Even though I smoke cigarettes I didn't like that the ash tray was right next to the restaurants door. It just seemed really weird to me to have it right there when people have to walk out that door. Also even though they have an ashtray right there people had been throwing their buds on the floor and staff was walking around collecting big trash but didn't stop and pick up the cigarette buds.

The location is very close to train stations and the free parking is a very nice perk. If they run out of parking they will park it for you. The elevator is simply amazing. It sounds like such a little thing but it is really fast and they don't shut them down on off hours so you're never waiting for one. As other guests mentioned the A/C doesn't work very well. If you turn it all the way to cold (past the temp settings) it will get comfortable after about 30 minutes. The bed is very lumpy and extremely uncomfortable.
Rooms updated but small, adequate for my business needs. Onsite restaurant, excellent food and service but is pricey. Parking is free, good news, finding a parking spot can be difficult but attendant is helpful, may have to park 1/2 block away.

As a result, the entire floor looked really run down, it smelled like paint, and it was loud.
Stayed for 4 nights for the 2016 Star Trek convention in NYC. No regrets. Staff was friendly and helpful. Convenient, free parking. Clean, comfortable room. Good breakfast. Walking distance to Newark Penn Station. Reasonably safe urban neighborhood. Easy access to NYC via PATH or NJ Transit. Price compared to NYC hotels. My room had a nice view. Was able to park the full day after I checked out. Elevators malfunctioned one morning (this was a huge annoyance). Area around hotel closes very early (no good restaurants, convenience stores, etc).
Location & Price are great! Good breakfast included with hotel stay. Had to switch rooms b/c of a grainy picture in tv and shower stopping up. Also, b/c of warmer temperatures during this winter season the hotel decids no to offer heat in the rooms...WTF? IT STILL WAS COLD AT NIGHT!
Good location for getting into NYC. The breakfast was pretty good. Employees were very friendly. Room was clean. Bathroom door did not close and some of the walls had paint/wallpaper peeling off. Vending machines were all either non-functioning, didn't take bills, or were not well-stocked. We ordered a cheese pizza when we got in for a quick bite to eat and it was possibly the worst pizza I've ever had, especially from a restaurant. A frozen pizza would have been better. Our neighbors rolled in around 2 AM and were loud and woke us and kept us up until about 5:30 - 6AM when we finally had to call the front desk to ask them to do something about it and even then it still took a while for them to quiet down.
I had low expectations based on reviews, but rooms were clean and spacious and recently renovated. Wifi worked fine for me. Staff were friendly and attentive. Good value for the money. Maybe I just got lucky this time, but nonetheless I'd stay again. Fine for a night. The area is a bit dicey, but not so much so that it should prevent you from walking to the train station, etc.
I asked for a "quiet" room and ended up next door to a group of women who were clapping, cheering, and in general having a good time. I don't mind people having fun but at 1:00 in the morning I really wanted to get some sleep.

Location was great. It was nice to be able to get out of the city and away from the holiday crowds. Nice views of the city skyline. Not much night life close to the hotel. Most restaurants close to the hotel were closed on the weekend.

The staff were extremely courteous, helpful and accommodating. At check-in, Debbie was wonderful, great sense of humor, and very professional. She upgraded our room and gave us a beautiful view of the Manhattan. The young man at the door was wonderful as well. He was kind and courteous. The beds were very comfortable and clean. We didn't like that there was a charge for wi-fi. We normally stay in hotels where the wi-fi is free. On the positive side, since we didn't use it for the 24 hours that we paid for, my credit card was credited and we were only charged half of the fee for wi-fi. Wasn't too thrilled about paying $3.00 for a coke from the little store either.
A great place to stay for a NYC weekend. Quieter than Manhattan, beautiful skyline view and very close to the PATH train. The staff is very friendly and the room was clean. Will stay there again.

The family really enjoyed our stay at the Westin Hotel in Jersey City. The staff was extremely friendly and the room was clean, comfortable and up to date. I have no complaints. The location was great if you want to go sight-seeing in New York. You are close enough to get to the city in no time (I recommend the subway (Path) with ease and have a location that is away from the hustle and bustle if that is what you prefer and Jersey City is extremely clean and people friendly. I can't recommend it enough!!!! Nothing.
The staff at the counter for my check-out was carrying an attitude. She seemed not happy or not nice at all during my checkout process. Did not say hi or goodbye either. It gave me a feeling that I was in a DMV.

I stayed in this hotel twice during January 2017. The hotel has a good location, it is close to the airport, the neighborhood seems safe, and the shopping area is not too far. It has an acceptable shuttle service to the airport. The rooms are spacious and their beds are comfortable. During my first stay of three days, the room was cleaned just once. When I inquired the reason, a woman receptionist explained that when you stay there for a few days the housekeeping personnel “sometimes” skip a day of cleaning. She said that she was alone, that all housekeeping personnel was gone for the day and the manager was out as well. She offered no other explanation and her attitude was of an upset person. As if I was annoying her with my problem. When I returned the second time, I complained to a supervisor, he apologized and said that the mentioned receptionist was wrong, adding that unless I had a “do not disturb” sign on the room door, there was no reason to not have skipped its cleaning. He also gave me a couple of vouchers to compensate for my aggravation. I suggest to closely supervise and train that receptionist to make her understand that clients are needed to pay her salary and they deserve to be treated with respect.
Free shuttle service between EWR and hotel, both ways. Staff was friendly and helpful. I had a room on the 6th floor, it had a vaulted ceiling which was lovely. Clean luxurious sheets, beds were comfortable with pillow options. Plenty of space. Large mini fridge in the room. Convenient, Way better than sleeping on the floor of EWR. Wifi did not work. Elevator incredibly slow. Air quality in my room was not great, was pretty stale and overpowered by air freshener. The windows were not openable to add fresh air. Food in the restaurant is subpar, with virtually no clean eating options. There are no other food options in the area, as the hotel is located amidst train tracks, gates, car parks and rental lots that seem to stretch to forever. $2 for a small bottle of Poland Springs bottled water in the vending machine.

I liked the customer service! Carlos was our waiter one evening and he was so sweet and friendly. The shuttle drivers were also wonderful. Friendly, professional and very nice!! The breakfast was very good also. The only thing I didn't like was that my bed was not made one day by housekeeping and the did not replenish the coffee nor did they remove the melted ice from the ice bucket. I was very disappointed in that part of the service since, as a mom, I do look forward to going to a hotel to be a little spoiled. I didn't complain to the front desk since the rest of the hotel experience was wonderful!!! All in all I would go there again.
The room was very large and quite attractive. The bedding was excellent and we had a great rest before and after our travel overseas. Nothing at all!

Very nice room and very friendly staff. Free shuttle to and from airport. Nice rate. Coffee and muffins were available at 4:30 am. Other guests were extremely loud- banging doors and yelling in the hall the entire night. It kept waking us up. Our wake up call rang at 3:40 instead of 4:40. We reserved a shuttle and one of the drivers never showed for work; so at 4:50 on the morning there were four families trying to get to the airport for our flights. The driver was very, very nice but one family was forced to stay behind.

We arrived much later than expected at Newark Airport. Fortunately for us, their airport transportation runs 24 hours. Called the front desk a couple of times about the transportation and they were always nice. It was also good to see a 24 hour pantry stocked with some pretty decent quality foods and baked goods, as all the airport concessions had closed with our late arrival. Our room was clean, modern, and nicely appointed. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel. Food in aforementioned pantry was a bit pricey. Bathroom fixtures needed some repair, but admittedly I forgot to tell them when I checked out. Location of the hotel not the greatest if you want to walk out of hotel grounds.
The room was clean. It appears to have been upgraded and the AC was good. If you are there to work, it's quiet and a good place to stay as long as you are willing to put up with the staff's poor attitude. The staff was extremely rude. The fridge did not work and when I reported it to the desk clerk she asked "So... do you want me to send someone to fix it?" Really?! I wonder what she thought was the reason I told them it wasn't working and my drinks were warm. After reporting it three times I finally got maintenance in the room at 9:30 PM, the guy said he'd be back in 10 minutes and never came back. The next day I saw someone in the hallway and told him, he came over and brought a new fridge. More than 24 hours after I first asked for it to be fixed or replaced. I found all the staff to be rude and unwilling to help with the most simple request. There are no restaurants around so you are stuck paying an insulting high price for everything you eat or drink. The breakfast buffet is 14.95 plus tax and you have eggs, sausage and potatoes as "hot" food; fruit and french toast and muffins. Don't expect more.

The location to the airport is good. The rooms were just okay. The parking was ridiculous. They did not have enough spots for how many people were there. I can't believe you have to pay for parking when there was not even enough parking to park there. Spent a lot of time driving around the parking lot and parking just where our vehicle would fit....usually no actual parking spots but rather parked on grass or in non parking area and left vehicle there. We asked for towels one night and never got them. The walls are very thin and we could here everything going on in the rooms and hallway. The rooms were not all that clean and the pillows were terrible. I would not stay here again.

I did like the access to the New Jersey Transit and airport. There are some resturants and shops in the building to pick up anything needed. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful to any questions we had. I did not like a few things in our room, such as, no place to hang a hand towel, the sink counter was badly cracked with a poor fix job, and the hair dryer was very old and weak. It seemed as a left over from another guest. The safety is questionable. I was there with my husband and felt okay but we both felt uncomfortable at times. I would not recommend staying alone or walking the streets at night. If you are there to visit NYC, I highly recommend staying in the city over NJ. With the cost of transportation and time back and forth, you waste time and money.
Despite the fact that we were moved to another hotel without prior notice they ensured that all transportation and amenities were covered by them. We were told that we were going to be switched out to another hotel the minute I checked in, despite the fact that I had confirmed my reservation the previous night with kayak and the hotel the day before.

Easy access to trains, Amtrak & PATH. Food was good. Service very good. Staff very good and nice. Very secure. The room door was slightly off kilter so it made a lot of noise when shutting
Clean, very close to train station. Don't expect to check in before 3pm. Breakfast in the restaurant was terrible. Got the corn beef hash... by far the worse I've ever had.... tremendously overpriced for the quality of food. You will hear the honking from the traffic until approx. 10pm. The area surrounding the hotel is not nice... I would recommend not walking around much.
No running water. Not advertised at the time of booking although they knew there was a scheduled outage for repairs. Had to check out, get reimbursed and go to another hotel upon learning that there was no running water at check in.

Could not see read etc. no t.v. Channel line up in our room. Lighting in the bar seating area near the elevators was also not sufficient to read etc. No matter how I tried the water in the bathroom ,by the restaurant just came out in a trickle, if it even came out at all. I was mad as hell because I could not clean my hands properly. I had to run up to my room to wash My hands. I know you are trying to GO GREEN, but give me a break with the price we paid I should be provided with ample hot water and light. Help us to keep clean and not spread germs please
Great location walkable to path, waterfront, Main Street etc. Asked at front desk if there was a coffee shop to get a cup of tea, told I could go to the restaurant to buy tea or coffee. Meanwhile when we came down Sunday morning to go out for breakfast there was complimentary tea/coffee being served in the bar. Nobody let us know that. Lighting in our room was pretty poor.

We only stayed for one night but it was amazing. The view of the Hudson and the city from our room was beautiful. The room itself was great! And it's walking distance to amazing resturants and bars. I am definitely going go be staying here again.
We always stay at the W when we come to town to visit our daughter. The hotel is clean, the staff is attentive and the beds are comfortable. Our room always has a spectacular view of the NYC skyline. It's a short walk to so many of Hoboken's great restaurants. We look forward to returning.

Clean room and 24 hour room service. Being charged for internet access at a high-end hotel is ridiculous. It's almost like the higher the cost is the more these companies think they can rip you off by charging for additional services (or thing in the mini-bar) as opposed to trying to provide the most value for that money.

The hallway was smelly. There were too many areas on the desk to buy this or that candy, etc. The desk itself was heavily marred. Eh!! Wouldn't probably go back there.
Nice modern feel and friendly, attentive staff. Comfortable bed and nice late (12pm) check out. Too much upselling in the room: fridge is full of items to purchase as well as half the counter and all over (water on bedside tables and in bathroom, etc.). It was too in your face and too expensive. Room overlooking the club was very noisy until 3am closing. Water pressure in the shower was awful. Valet was expensive and it took them over 20min to locate my vehicle.

I arrived at 2 pm only to be told to wait an hour. Upon returning at 3 I was told the room wasnt ready and I could have a double bed. I refused and was told by the manager YOU CANT EXPECT US TO RUSH OUR STAFF. My toilet was broken. I was charged 3 TIMES for the same thing. Then I was told the only thing that can be done is a FREE DINNER....unacceptable treatment and horrible attitudes
Beware, renovation under way. Paint on carpets, in sinks.... smell is in the air. Not sure why I didn't know about the daily parking fee ($14).
The room was pretty clean and adjacent to Newark Liberty International Airport. The view was just overlooking the parking lot. Nothing else. The lobby was very beautiful.
I am very picky, about clean, germs when it comes to hotels. the staff was friendly, from the valet to restaurant staff. the room was clean. i would go back and stay there again.
Some hotels have gorgeous communal areas, such as the lobby, and the lounge, but a different standard for their rooms. Renaissance Newark Airport had beautiful areas that were communal, and their rooms were of the same high standard. Bed was comfortable, and warm. Room was spacious and clean. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Shuttle to and from the airport is a plus. Many airline staff stay at the hotel, so the morning shuttle filled up fast, but another shuttle was dispatched right away, to pick up the overflow of passengers. I would stay here each time I'm in the area. Not just a good value, but a great place to stay, meet, eat, hold a conference, etc.
First of all, I am a veteran traveler. I used to travel for a living, spending more than 200 nights a year in hotels. What upsets me about any poor service experience is that it is relatively easy to avoid with good training and good management.\n\nI checked into the Doubletree Newark Airport after 11pm on the 13th of December. If I didn't already know they had a shuttle from the airport, there would have been no way to know they had one running. In the terminal and also at the P4 shuttle pick-up area, the hotel is not displayed on the courtesy phone area. I ended up having to call the hotel to see if indeed there was a shuttle bus available. \n\nWhen I arrived at the property, there were 4 people behind the front desk but no one at the front door or any bell service available. I had numerous bags as I was returning from an overseas trip and had to secure the bell cart myself. I passed several staff members with this cart and no one offered to assist me. \n\nThe guestroom was fine, although it needed a bit of cleaning. The bed was quite comfortable. As I recall, this used to be a Wyndham and it had been throughly renovated under their management, so the product quality was good.
This hotel has been recently been renovated. The public areas on the first floor are very nice, and the quest rooms are very nice as well. My only negative comment (and it's very minor) is that the hallways in the guest room areas still need to be redone. The front desk and restaurant staff's are very friendly and accommodating.
Clean and affordable. I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel in general which would include the room, lobby area, and the indoor pool. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and very accomodating when it came asking for directions, coordinating adjoining rooms, and providing additional services such as a roll away bed and blankets. Each time we came back to the hotel from our day or evening trips the front desk manager or clerks would ask how our day went. We enjoyed the flat screen, LCD T.V. and the variety of channels available for free viewing. The only downside to the hotel is that it's located right off the highway across from the airport which meant we were pretty much land locked which limited our dining choices without having to drive. The Perkins shuttle never showed so we ended up eating lunch the first day in the hotel restaurant. Being right off the highway also made it very challanging and confusing to get into the frontage road area where th ehotel is located. You needed to learn the N.J.. u-turn system the hard way to figure it out. Great touch to have the computer and printer in the business area for guests to print out their boarding passes. Security wise they have a guard at the gate of the parking lot and you need your room key to operate the elevator.
This was my third stay at this hotel and even better than the last two. The rooms, lobby, and restaurant have been very tastefully redone. The room was very comfortable with HD TV. The staff was very helpful and courteous. Even though near the airport, my rooms have always been quiet.

If you have a choice I wouldnt stay here. The surrounding area is horrible. Also, very very hard to find and easy to get lost in an area I dont feel safe in. The hotel is just average, the staff is just ok. Absolutely no restaurants in the vicinity so you are forced to eat at the hotel for mediocre food. Meeting rooms had leaking ceiling, where water came through like rain! Parking for hotel guests is expensive! Unfortunately I had to stay here for a meeting, if I had a choice I would not stay here!
We needed a hotel not far from the airport as we had a 6:30 am flight the day after our stay. The staff at the Renaissance were incredibly helpful with any and all questions we had re: transportation, food, etc. Although we had a short night's sleep due to our obligations, it was completely restful. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Perfect hotel stay. Everything was lovely from the pool, to our hotel room, to the staff. They even welcome you with hot cookies! The best part is the Hilton Double tree is inexpensive :)
The hotel was comfortable and had all the amenities one could need. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were able to check-in before 11 a.m. without an additional fee, took advantage of the free shuttle to the airport several times to get to the Amtrak station and head into New York City. When our room keys stopped working at we went to the front desk for assistance, not only did the clerk apologize for the inconvenience, but she advised that if it should happen again, we didn't need to return to the front desk. Instead, we could call from a house phone near the elevator on our floor and they would send someone up to assist us. This hotel provided great value for the price and I would definitely stay there again. When I checked out, I inquired about paying for parking. I was told that I would need to pay at the gate when I left since there were no charges on my room bill. However, I was not advised until I pulled up to the gate that they only accept cash there. Luckily, I had enough cash on hand to pay for my 2 nights of parking, but it would've been nice to have the opportunity to pay by credit card or at least forewarning that only cash is accepted at the gate.

I like that this is a pretty consistent hotel. I've stayed in Doubletrees all over the country and the staff is always friendly, the beds are typically very comfortable and the rooms etc. are always clean. I don't think that customers staying in the hotel should have to pay for parking. It is outrageous to have to make that extra payment when you're already paying a pretty good amount to stay there. Also, it wouldn't hurt to have affordable food in the restaurant. Since you don't have a free breakfast, at least make it affordable.

The only reason I was at this hotel is because I missed my connection and was rebooked to leave very early the next morning. The airline did not cover the cost of the stay so I had a choice and picked the Doubletree. From booking to check out the stay was a disaster. The shuttle took over 30 minutes because no one at the hotel notified him people were waiting. Upon check in at 11:30 pm I asked for a 4 am wake up call. I confirmed it before I went to my room. At this point, my phone is completely dead, it wouldn't even turn on. I literally plugged it in and fell into bed. The wake up call never came, but thankfully, due to a a leaky faucet that dripped all night long, I never fell deeply asleep and happened to check my watch at 4:18 am. I got ready and went to the lobby to get coffee, which was supposed to be there 24/7 according to the person who checked me in-- nope, coffee service doesn't start until 6:00 am, a change was made last week. If you are stuck at Newark and are looking for a place ro stay, go somewhere else!
Convenient location to the airport and decent shuttle. The warm cookie is always good. The room was not in good shape. The chairs had big stains on them and things were falling apart. When I checked out and showed the front desk person the pictures of the problems of the room she did not apologize but just glanced at it and said she would tell housekeeping.

Really good sty at Comfort Suites. The front desk ladies and the shuttle driver were really helpful, courteous and really nice. A few things that I want to mention: 1- I requested a corner room, of which I got. But, there was something wrong with the ceiling paneling in the bathroom and the actual panels in the ceiling flapped up and down during the my stay. It was a little annoying but bearable. 2- There was a long hair on the bedding under he shirts when I pulled back the covers. I wasn't grossed out but still, not a good look overall. 3- A huge plus was there was a balcony sliding door that opened and I was able to get a view of the city and fresh air. I really enjoyed that. 4- The bed was extremely comfortable, I slept like a baby,

The rates they have are 4star hotel rates and the hotel itself a 2star hotel. No value for my money. Beds aren't comfortable at all. The hotel itself as a whole could use some major renovation. Improvement on staff too. The old guy at the front desk wasn't that welcomimg. Being that close to one of the busiest airports around, a lot of money is being made so doing all those improvements is possible. All around environment
the room was decent the bathrook could be better atleast with fitting shower curtains. the fitness center was convenient also but its closes at 11, what about the guests that work late shifts that want a quick workout? any exceptions? the time the gym closes, no indoor pool, cafe was over priced, there were no king size bed smoking rooms.

Close to airport The room was filthy. There was hair all over the counter and dried toothpaste on the sink. We didn't feel comfortable sleeping in the beds with the rest of the room that dirty.
Clean room. Good location. Good, affordable room service. There was a strong smell, like citrus cleaning fluid, throughout the hotel. I saw this mentioned on other reviews -- not sure of the issue there. Also, the tub drain was slow, causing buildup during showers. And during part of the stay, the wifi went down.

The staff were extremely helpful, courteous and friendly and the hotel room we had wass excellent - spacious and with good amenities. Whilst there isnt too much to do, or see, in the immediate area with the ease of transport into Manhattan [the Path train from Grove station is only a ten minute walk away] it made a relaxing base.
close proximity to light rail and subway lack of view, lack of customer service with rainy day needs; umbrella, dryer for coats and shoes. stayed 2 nights, but hotel split it to two separate nights and we have to check back in and re-key our room keys for the second night. brought personal pillow and maid service removed it during the daily cleaning. T/he pillow was never found.

Our connecting flight was cancelled due to the bad weather in NY, it was already midnight when I booked the hotel through the Hilton app, we had a good rate and more important there where rooms available. When we came in past 1 am the lady behind the desk was very helpful and understood the situation. She upgraded both rooms to the corner suite and late check out in the afternoon. The rooms where spacious and clean and after a very long day with a lot of stress and international flights it was heaven to have nice warm shower and fresh clean sheets. Service and friendliness as it should be. Everything was more then okay
All of the staff that I encountered were very nice. The bed was comfortable. I also loved the welcome cookie. It was a nice surprise and I was hungry!! The location was great for my needs and is just minutes away from the waterfront. The room was nice enough but there was weird white stuff on the walls and in the bathroom. Cleanser maybe? I went down to the bar area and had to wait 5 minutes to be seen/ seated. There were just a few people there so it wasn't a busyness issue. I ordered soup. A little over 5 minutes later the server responded to tell me that the soup would take 25 minutes. I ordered pizza instead. It was fine but I was disappointed. The temperature in the room was freezing. I adjusted it with the thermostat on the wall but the air conditioner continued on, event though I had selected 68 on heat. I ended up pulling the plug to get it to turn off after an hour of adjusting the thermostat and waiting for warmth. I was exhausted from a long day and got in bed to watch tv. The remote control would not turn on the television. I inspected the outlets and they were all okay. The button on the tv worked but, even then, I was only getting 4 commercial channels. The lights on the remote were coming on also so I figured it wasn't batteries. I decided to call the front desk. Unfortunately, the phone in my room did not work/ call to the front desk. I tried both lines but no luck. I even tried dialing other services available on the phone but that just rang and rang. So.... exhausted and frustrated, I got dressed and headed down to the lobby. I had to wait a bit as a few people were just checking in. The person at the desk was very nice and sent someone up to my room. The man arrived to fix the television. He was extremely nice but the issue did take about 15 minutes or so to resolve. He wasn't sure why the issue happened but he had to get a special remote and change some settings. In the morning, I headed down to the restaurant again. I asked if I could order from the menu. I was told buffet only, though I think there may have been a communication issue. I later asked a different server after I saw the selection up close. It was generally unimpressive. She said that I could order from the menu but I decided to just stick with the buffet since the menu would take longer and I felt like I was being a burden by ordering. I was extremely disappointed overall. The eggs, potatoes and waffles were all cold. I ate just a little bit and spent over $20 with tip. I was extremely disappointed. Overall, I wouldn't recommend or stay at this hotel again, unfortunately.

I liked being picked up from airport by courtesy car. I liked the selection of movies. I thought the hotel was very good value for money. The front of house receptionist stayed on a personal call all the time she was checking me making it hard to ask her questions and i found it a bit unprofessional. She was very helpful however later when my remote control did not work she got me a new one and was able to answer all my queries well.

The hotel is close to the airport with a frequent shuttle service between the hotel and the airport. It is basic and not the most luxurious or fancy hotel, but we didn't want to pay the price for that kind of hotel. This one was clean, the rates were reasonable and it is far enough away from the runway that it wasn't noise but close enough to make it a short transfer. It may not be where I would choose to stay for a holiday but if I wanted somewhere convenient to stay before or after a flight, then I would definitely use it again.
Basic accommodation for the budget traveler. Stay only if you missed your flight out of Newark or have a connection. Had specifically requested a non-smoking room. They had only smoking rooms available. The smell was so bad that my wife and I had to keep the windows open (in December !) to breathe some fresh air. As a small mercy the housekeeping gave us some room freshener to spray. The on-site restaurant is too pricey. The breakfast at the restaurant ($11) was not at all good. The front-desk did not mention that the restaurant would be closing early. When we reached the front desk, they just gave us a Chinese take-out menu. This worked out better because the Chinese food was much cheaper and tastier (I'd recommend that). The good part is that the hotel had an airport shuttle. If you don't have a car, that's a cheap way to get to the city and other places.
We really liked how close the hotel was to the airport. The shuttle between the airport and the hotel was about 5 minutes. If you're not used to road noise you may have difficulty sleeping

The gentle man at the front desk was the absolute sweetest and most helpful person i've ever had the pleasure of working with. I stay at many hotels, and none the less I know that any Marriot hotel i've stayed at is built to work at its finest, but this gentleman went above and beyond to assist me and make sure we were comfortable. He helped me not only get a clean room quickly where I could put away my things and freshen up (since I had arrived much earlier than check in and had an event I needed to get to) but and when incurring a problem (When I thought I lost my ID and Debit Card) was helpful in helping me find it. It a shame on my part that with my terrible memory, I cannot remember his name. He was a caucasian male, in his late 20s promoting some football event, I believe, with a green shirt. My sister, A friend and I were attending a concert later that evening so we only booked the hotel for a one night stay in NJ, but with personnel like him and the cleanliness and professionalism of both the lobby as well as our hotel room itself, I felt like I should've stayed longer had I not already booked the rest of trip at the Ritz in Manhattan. Very satisfied. Definitely will be coming back again.
Surprisingly being next to a hockey stadium on a game night it was very quiet. We specifically asked for the quietest side of the hotel not facing the Broad Road. That might has to do with the quietness, and the floor was not so busy. The room was generally clean except the shower floor I can see black dirt residue. The front desk was curteous. We didn't like that there was no parking or rather we needed to pay an additional $21! Tax was quite high already on top of the rate. I wish the parking could have been covered or a bit less than 21.
The hotel is very hard to get to. There is no space to pull up to check in. The parking garage is extremely expensive, and when I arrived the staff had such thick accents I couldn't understand anything they were saying.
