A very stilish and modern (built 2009) hotel, located very centraly in Munich. Around the corner from Sendlinger Tor (and the U-bahn station) and next to the shopping district, only 6-8 min walk to Marienplatz. Rooms are small but adequate, breakfast was very nice (continental only) and good value at 7.50 euros.
Good location not easy parking by car
Decor, walking distance to city No parking as promised, trouble with internet eventually resolved. Staff not friendly or helpful
Very clean hotel with a well laid out breakfast buffet. The lounge area was great for a drink in the evening with well priced choice of drinks and friendly bar staff. The location is perfect for walking to the old centre and just over 10 minutes by foot to the main station. Great value for money for such contemporary and smart decor. The hotel staff were very polite but some of the Receptionists are a little cool and unfriendly but this did not detract from the overall good impression of the hotel.
+ Location + overall facility - Room size - only 2 coat hangers - hefty surcharge of 75% due to Oktoberfest reduced "value for money" significantly
Nice clean city center hotel with friendly staff and decent breakfast. The internet connection had some problems the first day of my visit but I am sure that the provider was responsible and not the hotel.
The hotel is very new, so everything was fresh. I found the bed comfortable. Well located with U-Bahn station very close by. As mentioned by other reviewers the rooms are small. The desk and stool are inadequate and there is nowhere to put your luggage or properly store clothing. This hotel is only suitable for short stays and for travelers with minimal luggage. Service by the reception staff is inconsistent; ie some excellent, others not so good.
A terrific hotel, very slick design, very reasonaobly priced at an excellent location in the heart of Munich,.
this was a comfortable well run hotel with an efficient check-in and luggage storage service. the hotel provided an excellent wide choice breakfast at a very reasonable cost. the hotel was well placed to explore the city. the queue for breakfast
Convenient location to shopping belt along Sendlinger and city central. It's only a stone's throw away from Sendlinger U-bahn. Hotel reception was in a mess when we arrived on 15 Oct 09, with staff scrambling to search for guests name manually on pieces of paper. We were told that their computer systems are down. They could not locate my booking as my name was erroneously mis-spelled in their maunal listing. I was shocked that they do not have records on our booking reference no. with Booking.com. It took them almost 25mins to eventually allocate my 2 rooms.
Lobby Service, i paid for a king bed but got a single bed when i complained they said i was a solo travler and if i wanted a king bed it was 15 more euro ontop of the extra i paid for the king bed
Close to train station Wasn't crazy about the room design
the hotel is of a very high standard and the facilities are excellent
best hotel ever
close to train station spa was closed even though we inquired about it before staying there
Location, staff, room, facilities, swimming pool, restaurant, hotel looks etc. Most of it. Not a big problem but if you like to have bath tub, you need to ask for it in advance as not all rooms are equipped. Also we like the aircondition to run a little cooler but it was OK.
Rooms are very nice as is lobby and the facilities The area , near the train station, is typical of what you find in germany these days as it is overrun by unsavory refugee types
Great hotel in great location
nice rooms, nice spa Apparently there are no king size beds in this hotel despite the advertising in booking and in sofitel sites. only single beds.
Service is excellent. I arrived the hotel exhausted at 7:30am. Reception let me check into the room without extra cost. The hotel is a six year old one. It is a very nice modern hotel in a revonated old building. The location is right by the central train station. Transportation is convenience, but not as nice as the other five stars hotels in the area. Anyway, this is by far the best among all the hotels I stayed in Munich before (and I have stayed at Four Seasons and Bayerpost, ...) Nothing to complain.
concierge very helpful.. late check out help a lot
The spa had to pay for internet- wifi should be free guys
We had a wonderful stay which was high lighted by the wealth of knowledge of the hotel conceirge .Glad we took his advice about restaurants & tours. The hotel is located in a great area for shopping & sights.
Room ready for arrival at 2pm. Central location. Staff friendly, helpful and with very good command of English. Gym and pool very appreciated. No noise. Minor quibbles - I would have liked a CD player in the room (I know they could be hired) and a wider choice of English language newspaper.
The location of the hotel. Those who want to stay near the center of Munich and have the ability to walk there on foot should definitly consider The Charles Hotel.
Very clean - amazing rooms - great spa 30 Euro each for breakfast is very expensive ........ think it may have been worth it as it was excellent. Fine as we travelled as a couple - if my kids had been there would have been unaffordable!
The Charles Hotel is a very top class hotel. The Location is great, a few min. walking away from the city center and steps away from the train station. The hotel is prestigous, very clean and comfortable. The restaurant and food is good. no wi-fi in the hotel. The internet connection is wired and expensive.
The service attitude was quite unique at the hotel, more than perfect. Breakfast is really good! I highly recommend deluxe room with park view.
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the food in general was very good, cleanliness & the comfort of the Hotel also very good.
the staff were very helpfull;the hotel is quite and the view of the room is nice; the size of the room is execllent
Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful hotel about 500 meters away from the train station. Room, and bathroom large. Excellent service. Great SPA, There is absolutly nothing negative about this hotel, everything perfect. You get what you pay for and more. Highly recomend. nothing
Very Clean. Quiet. Friendly staff. Reasonably large room, and very comfortable bed. Pillows could be in down instead of synthetic.
The rooms are wll furnished, good high speed internet, excellent central location The Breakfast is a total rip off. It does not matter what you order, you pay €27. Thi sis simply outrageous rip off.
Excellent service Bit expensive, breakfast very expensive and bar a bit small
Classic and classy design, location, staff, breakfast, the music at the bar.
The decoration of the room and the free wi-fi. The exterior of the building
Ambiance, cleanliness and nice staff
theirs great restraint for dinar and good serves rely thanx allot its mazing
Short walk from Munich Central Station, good value, comfortable, clean, unique art decorating the hotel. Clientele seemed to be adult, relatively young, European travelers and back packers. I arrived at the same time as a rather rowdy crowd. I was traveling for work, but most of the persons I observed and came across seemed to be on holiday and enjoying themselves. Can be a pro or a con.
It was alright. It is currently being renovated and we were in a room that is not on any of the maps of the hotel floors so we couldn't find out room at first. Not the best neighborhood
Great Location Excellent Breakfast Buffet In order to speak to the receptionist, one has to come down to reception - no phone connection
The location was superb - close to everything, especially the main train station, and yet extremely quiet. Loved the lavish breakfast every morning and the room was tiny but clean.

Close by Banhof for easy local travel Friendly staff Good breakfast
Location, really close to main train station. Helpful staff. Clean room. Poor lighting in the bathroom. Internet did not work in our room.
Location. Very close to central train station. Renovated room. Poor lighting in room enterance. Pillows in the room were too soft, needed to be folded several times to be used as pillows.
Rest after long walks on a city Close room
Great spacious room , very clean , very good breakfast. Close to main rail station...The cute dog in mornings Nothing
The Location is really good. Just under 10 mins walk from the main Station. The Stairs up the lobby could be dificult for people with heavy lagguage.
the location is just perfect. Staff is very friendly and efficient
place close to train station and hart of Munich . as i said in Q.2 the bed not comfortable because its not a king size bed
Location right next to Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) During Electronica the price of everything is incredible - 280 Euro night + wifi is not free and breakfast is a staggering 21 eur per person. I week later the hotel is less than 100 per night
The Turkish speaking hotel staff was extremely helpful. The location of the hotel was convenient since it is close to the city centre and just next to the railway and subway services. The hotel is next to some "adult entertainment" locations. This is annoying and gives the feeling of insecurity.
Located next to Munich Main Train Station, nice room, clean and taken care of Small rooms
Location Lifts were slow Not enough reception staff Pillows were inadequate
The room was very comfortable and it is very close to the public transportation The breakfast price is very high (€19 per person). So we didn't have breakfast at the hotel. Pillows and quilts with plume (bird fur) and are not healty especially for allergic peoples. So, the hotel should provide other types of pillows and quilts (such as cotton etc.) enough numbers.
Not great really terrible value for money - tiny room, poor facilities and really quite expensive.
Helpfulness of the staff! The bed sheets were not changed daily and should be!
Efficient, no delays at the reception counter and fast resposne to service (request a towel)
Location was was great. It was right across from the Haptbahnhof making transportation anywhere in the city very easy. No
Location, customer service, size of room, fitness center amenities Charges for wifi
This nice hotel has an easy location - across the street from the train station and across the street from the airport bus stop. The center of town can be reached easily by foot in about 10 minutes. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The sauna and steam room were nice, and breakfast was superb. All in all, a great place to stay. The room was slightly cold but very clean and comfortable.
The rooms were very nice and the breakfast buffet was excellent. We had trouble adjusting the temperature in the warm and were quite warm at night.
Very close to central station, clean, good breakfast, the room with one bed is very small
- Location - Breakfast - Amenities - Staff could be a little more personable than stoic - The rooms seem dated and could do with being updated for the price we are paying
Friendly, welcoming, helpful front desk staff. Bright, modern room. Modern bathroom with bath. Excellent breakfast. Overall excellent.
Across the street from the train station, but never heard a train. Within walking distance to Marienplatz. Hotel was very clean and well decorated with artwork and fresh flowers, breakfast was impressive, and our room was quite comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.
I have stayed here many times and have found it to be comfortable and pleasant. Excellent breakfast buffet. The people taking part in the special meetings were often very noisy.
Excellent location across from main Munich train station. About a 15 walk to the Marienplatz. Access to public transit close by. Staff was very friendly and helpful in assisting us with planning our three days at the Much Christmas Markets. Breakfast buffet was generous and varied in choices. The room was comfortable and quiet.
Bestens erreichbar. Restaurant.
Solid location to use trams and trains. Also walking distance to city center. Airport shuttle across the street was great(it was 11€ each). The hotel it self felt very historic which I loved. Lots of cool art . Friendly and helpful desk staff. The bed was extremely comfortable. Our room was a bit expensive for just a basic room. being right next to train station it got noisy at times. The main elevator was shut down so we had to use the service elevator which was very small only enough room for 2 people.
Across the street from main train station Not much, tile in bathroom was kind of funky.
Comfortable rooms and very friendly service Expensive breakfast!!
garden room service is a bit late
Convenient (but not scenic) location Clean Helpful staff Everything comes with an extra charge - internet, health club. Internet was the most annoying at 24 Euros per day for slow in-room wifi and 36/day for fast. It's robbery. Free wifi in the lobby means half the time you literally can't find a chair & it's really slow.
Good breakfast; good bar; room was good size and good facilities; health club was excellent; location is good TV broke twice in 3 days. Is there a problem with the TV's or with the power supply? Difficult to get room cool enough
This hotel was very comfortable and just outside of the train station. The town center can be reached via a 10-15 minute walk or train. The staff was helpful, fitness center good, and nice breakfast. Quiet, constant humming sound in the room like a vacuum being run in a distance. it did not affect our stay, however.
Staff friendly and multi-lingual, clean rooms, excellent location and a nice ambience about the place. All pillows and duvets were feathers and the drinks in the bar are very pricey - 7,50 euros for a beer. No tea and coffee facilities in the room.
The interior was welcoming, spacious and the wonderful waft of spicey candles in the foyer induced an immediate response of relaxation. The room was large, luxurious and so comfortable. Staff were superb, friendly and helpful.
Staff was engaging and personal but still very professional Stay was not long enough..
Nice modern atmosphere and central location No tea and coffee facilities, breakfast room to small and always busy.
Staff was very helpfull and kind. They gave us a new renovated room and alot of helpfull tips about restraunts. The room was new and clean. The hotel is very close to main station which is good if you are traveling by train. Ibut if your intention is shopping and sightseeing, yhat means you have to walk a lot or take the tram for two stops. The lobby is very dark and crowded like a train station. We booked a double deluxe room for two nights ten days before the date, with a reasonable price and then when we want to extended the reservation to three nights they charged us very expensive price almost two times which is ridicolous. It must be the same price if you already have a reservation.
close to the shopping malls
Incredibly good breakfast buffet. Surprisingly quiet room for such a busy area of Munich (room opened onto back alley lot) Extremely pleasant and hospitable staff. Room was a bit cramped, but good value for the price.
Proximity to train station. Good hotel for non-sophisticated people like me. Furniture in the rooms looks outdated, question of style I guess. But functional.
Breakfast selection was good refreshed reguarly, easy access to stations and can walk to most attractions.
Fair quality stay. High price for the room quality. Missing heating in the bathroom floor. Expencive www conection.
The location was excellent for a single mature woman travelling solo and using the train as the main form of trasport. All sights were in walking distance. Very good. The staff were friendly and helpful to give tourist information. For the price and location and on a budget I would recommend the hotel to travellers. Bathroom was small, but for one person was fine No fans in room when it got warmer.
location, service, cleanliness, hotel staff
clean and cheap
the hotel staff is friendly and approachable and thus make my stay more pleasant. the rooms are abit old and there are no aircondition which is very hot during summer
Great option to stay in. Modern, confortable and the staff's kindness and professionalism is outstandingly great! Location is perfect, all the tours and the main train station is around the corner as well as the public transport (tran and bus) very centric and useful. Nothing really, everything was great... I would love something to eat at night or at least a vending machine though.
Decent hotel for a decent price, recommended for those travelling by train - just next to the station if you choose to use the parking and drive a bigger car, reconsider. it's a true challenge to go in or out without a single scratch.
I asked them a quite room and I stayed in the quite room. Wifi isn't free, but I could use it for free in my room because of another generous hotel. (It opens it to all) Nothing is included (breakfast, internet ...) but not cheap. It's near to the train station, but at first it was difficult to find. They start to clean the room 9:20~40 in the morning and they just open the door. When I was in the room, they came back later, but they did it every morning.
The hotel was new and so the rooms were still fresh, modernly appointed and barely worn. My wife and I were in Munich for Oktoberfest and one of our days there was a national holiday. The front desk staff were uninformed as to what was open or not (i.e., museums) on the holiday and were ill-informed about the hours of Oktoberfest which struck us as a bit unusual, nor did they make an effort to find out.
Clean, easy to find, staff very helpful, and a/c. Only one elevator and location seems somewhat seedy, but not too bad. Only have to weather a block or two before getting to hotel.
It was clean & breakfast was good. The rooms were great. The lobby had great brochures & things. The WiFi was decent. Each device required its own code. And you had to sign in each time you left the property. The guy that was at the front desk during the afternoons was awful. He was rude & insulting to us. He had an attitude about us being tourists in Germany - he snickered when we told him him we went to the Hofbräuhaus. We did not appreciate his attitude.
Did not restock soap last 2 days. Heater was only marginal in sept. Hate to be there in dec.
We had a group at the Treff for the Oktoberfest. This was a great hotel for the group close to the fest and close to the center. It is located in the middle of the red light district
no blanket single sheet no face cloths
Very clean & modern, helpful friendly staff, lovely breakfast, comfy beds!! cannot think of anything; it was wonderful!
seemed that the hotel was a bit understaffed.
very clean and vwry nice/helpful staff
We stayed here for 2 days on the front end of a 17 day European trip and it was the perfect way to kick it off. Rooms were clean, bright and comfortable and well appointed. The staff was amazing, very accommodating and helpful. Hotel is within walking distance of main plaza and shopping as well as train station. If in Munich, would totally stay here again. Nothing.
Convenient location to station, Oktoberfest and city. Small room.
NIcely appointed standard hotel room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Walking distance to station and Marienplatz. There was a mechanical droning sound in the room which the hotel staff could not explain.
The rooms were large and the furnishings were new and clean. Everything just felt comfortable. The location was great, right across from the Munich main station. You can go anywhere by the trains. Around the hotel are plenty of restaurants, bars, banks, supermarkets and other nightlife. You will not be bored. I have to give special compliments to the front desk staff as they were the most helpful team I've ever encountered. They attended to our every need with a smile and professionalism.
Across the street from the main railway station - if you travel with an early morning train, as I did, the location could not be better. Faux modernism of the interior
Good amenities, and I appreciated that they have their lights on timers even in the hallways. The staff were also rally helpful with some of my sillier questions. I was facing the train station so it didn't feel very private if I wanted natural light. I'd suggest putting some of those diffusing curtains up as an option - in addition to the blackout ones.
Location, in front of train station and close to historical sites. Surprising very quiet. Bed very comfortable! No towels in the bathroom and staff took a hour to bring them. Call service never was available and tv system was not working properly. 160 dollars night for a hotel should be no more than 100 bucks!
Value for money
Breakfast, position, staff, clean No remarks
local to train station not a four star hotel as advertised, more like a 2 star. "tired" bathrooms. too expensive for quality of rooms
the restaurant staff were the "only" nice people. - Rooms are not clean. - Bed sheets are filthy & yellowish. - Floor carpet is filthy and smelly. - The bed itself is broken, dusty, and very old. - Bathroom toilet is filthy and not cleaned. - My child's backpack was lost/stolen from the hotel. - Room's phone wasn't working and the only way to get room service was to go down to reception.
Was quite basic but the loaction is great and the staff were nice! The bath was very slippy, the room was too hot!
The rooms were well designed, clean and comfortable Nothing, everything was perfect
Large, clean rooms. Excellent breakfast. Excellent location, 2 min walk to main train station, 10 min to main centre. Friendly staff. I had problems picking up the internet signal in our room. They were happy to move us into another room but still had the same problem. Down stairs at the lobby no problems. No kettle tea/coffee in room but a 2 min walk to train station and nice coffee for only 1 euro.
The REGENT location is an easy walk from the Hauptbanhof. The REGENT location is an easy walk to the Augustiner Keller Beir Garten Breakfast had everything (cold cuts, hot eggs, hot bacon, bread, pastries, juices, coffee, etc.). Nothing.....all is good.
good access to public transportation
Clean and very close to the central station and many attractions
Located near downtown, just a few blocks form the central station. Breakfast served too late
The hotel is ok but it is not an 4 star hotel, no double bed (kingsize) no gym, and room service til 10:00
Excellent location within a seconds approximity to Main Station, S- abd U-bahn.Facing to pedestrnian street surround by shops and small restaurants. Very good breakfast and staff of the hotel. Rooms facing to the street are too noisy: you will hear all trams passing by as well as water falling in the bathroom of next room. Please ask a room facing the inner yard.
A correct four-star hotel very well placed for train travellers and excellent value during the summer season. There is a very popular, but pretentious, wine-bar bistro (Lyonnais bouchon style). Many of the rooms are arranged in pairs so as to have adjoining bathrooms. In our room the noise from the neighbouring bathroom was disturbing, particularly after much beer drinking.
Service No air con
Convenient location near train station, cleanliness, relaxed atmosphere.
location, interior, cleanliness price of breakfast
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Front desk personnel were excellent in helping us. Your breakfast is expensive, but the main person was abrupt and the personnel were not attentive to my reuqests and sometimes no one was there to even ask.
friendly staff, clean room, nice decorated lobby, the location of the hotel.
interior room, double doors to ensure the silence in the room expensive breakfast
It was very near all the major city sites the cost of using the minibar
