Nice place No smoking. $140+ rooms but $27 just to park in garage. And no the hotel doesn't pay for it dicount it or validate parking. This was a bummer.
This hotel is Nice and clean. The interior design is modern. The location is perfect if you want to take a stroll around downtown. From the front entrance, you can see the US Airways stadium, the Chase stadium or arena (sorry, not a sports fan) and just a few minutes walk away. Also it about a five to ten minutes walk to Heritage Square. One minus is the room we stayed in had only one chair and a long sofa for seating. Having just one chair made it tough for two of us to enjoy food or coffee in our room. I recommend friends to stay there, but because it's downtown, don't be surprised about how expensive parking can be, $23/night. None
Cleanliness Room service took forever to show up...2hrs later
Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly, courteous and professional. Only guests can enter the guest room floors. Our room's thermostat was not working right. Our room at the lowest temperature was freezing but at any higher temperature our room would be way too hot. There was no door on the shower which caused water from the shower to get on the bathroom floor, making it slick and a fall hazard. Our bed had no sheet, just the comforter and a small throw blanket. We had to request a sheet and add it to the bed ourselves. We had a very difficult time getting comfortable enough to sleep.
I liked the location, the décor, and the amenities and perks included with the hotel room stay. Overall, a great hotel. :) I did not like the design of the shower, where it was only partially enclosed with a glass wall, where water could spray out onto the bathroom floor. The mattress was a little hard, and the pillows were a little flat.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Love the location - easy walk to arena and convention center and light rail. Plenty of restaurants, clubs, live music choices nearby as well. While I didn't mind, some may be put off by the need to leave the hotel and cross the plaza to access fitness center and breakfast. Both are well worth the "inconvenience"
Stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms. When I got off the elevator to go to my room, I stepped on the thickest, plushest carpet ever. Room was spotless. Lots of outlets on the desk so I was able to keep all my devices charged. All of the staff I encountered were pleasant and helpful. Even the valet, when my car was brought around, washed my windshield before I started out for home. Extremely easy to get back to I-10. The breakfast buffet was wonderful - including lots of fresh fruit and again. Walking distance to Chase Field as well as lots of bars and restaurants. Would have liked to have had a magnifying mirror in the bathroom for putting on my makeup but there was lots of light.
Staff very friendly and helpful. The Concierge Room is advertised as being for guests with rewards points at the Platinum or Gold level plus one guest. The hotel opened the Concierge Room to hundreds of pre-teen and teenaged girls unchaperoned, competing in a national ballerina event in the city. Business and professional guests very disappointed.
The Renaissance is close to so many cool downtown Phoenix venues - Valley Bar, Hanny's Seamus McCaffrey's, and Crescent Ballroom. We were able to walk around and had plenty to do all within walking distance.
Great check in staff and very nice room. Decided to stay in instead of going out and the bar staff at the hotel was horrible waited 15 minutes for first drink and then couldn't remember what the drink was. It was super expensive and staff not very personable
The location of the hotel was great. It was in the heart of Phoenix. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The gym is very small and they were renovating so you could hear work being done and the elevators were really slow.
The view, the rate, the employees The carpet, the old Apple phone radio
Great location for what we needed. I really liked the Fitness Center. Plenty of cardio machines. Nice touch having the cold, wet towels available. Water temperature was terrible in the room. Either too cold or too hot. When I turned on the hot water at the sink to wash my face it got very hot and no amount of cold water would cool it down for quite a while. The shower had to be turned all the way hot to get a warm shower. There wasn't a shower towel mat for the floor the first day we were there.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
If you're attending a function at the convention center, this is the perfect hotel. I wish that there was a small store for incedentals.
The heart of downtown Phoenix within walking distance to restaurants and bars downtown. The most uncomfortable bed I've attempted sleep in for as long as I can remember. My poor back.
Walking Distance to Chase Field. Room had a vague smell of cigarette smoke.
I do appreciate the employees and the easy access to many other attractions. That was nice I did not like the actual bed and the sheets and covers. I must of woke up 6 -7 times. Sheets where not soft. They were hard and loud. The bed was noisy and felt old. Was not a comfortable sleep. Also. This is arizona the air is dry. Maybe giving complimentary waters would be nice. Not charge $5 per water bottle.
The staff was friendly and I liked the amenities in the hotel. The bathroom was really small.
Typical nice Hyatt hotel. Fix the hot water!
Very close to Talking Stick Resort Arena and Chase Field. Staff was not very knowledgeable about the area which was strange considering they live there. Parking is terribly overpriced and wifi is not free. Hotel overall looks very tired and run-down. Online pictures are not a true representation of what the property looks like.
Large rooms. Comfy bedding. Modern design. Great views of the city. Great breakfast. If you elect not to have maid service, you are given a $5 coupon to use in the restaurant. Parking was $28 per car per night. We parked across the street for $14 per night.
The bathroom Very unhappy with trying to book two deluxe rooms next door for our bachelorette weekend. When requested, " Syndey" didn't see any prob. Didn't happen of course!
Booked the hotel and tried to cancel a couple hours later. Priceline spoke with the front desk manager and they refused to allow me to cancel. I understand it's in your fine print but it's just bad business practice to take someone's money when the reservation was JUST made. It's not like it was booked for months and the room was not given to someone else because of my reservation. I am the CEO of a moderately sized company and travel to Phoenix 5-10 times a year and send hundreds of clients to Phoenix. I will make sure no one stays here. Good thing you kept my $500.
It was a great experience from the front desk to the easy check out. Not really a factor if you're not a weekender but parking is truly disproportionate to the amount of rooms in the hotel. You will find that out the hard way if you find yourself staying on a Saturday night.
Semi clean room Nothing open past 12, very much lack of knowledge of there "hotel" hour of operations, never had an opportunity to enjoy like food but like everything else there is somthing more rhat will stick with people at Tucson, for a life time
Customer service was great!
The room was clean and comfortable It's funny that the only memorable and helpful staff are not upfront. Reception is horrible...H O R R I B L E!! This is the only reason I would never go back.
Location, Clean Rooms, Excellent Beds, Good Internet. Homeless Begging right outside front doors.
Staff were not friendly .... injured myself while there and would not allow me temporary use of a wheelchair. Nothing in the vicinity of the hotel really.
walking distance to anything downtown; very clean; friendly staff; excellent bed no free wi-fi???? $17 parking????
staff friendly location shuttle service started at 7AM. - doesn't help for earlier flights bathroom had lots of wear and tear; especially tub/shower requested extra supplies via Kayak but didn't receive them upon check in.
Had tickets to diamondbacks game. Close place stay. Breakfast was okay. Didn't care for turkey sausage.
The beds were torture. Not only were they hard, the springs were poking through. Also, we paid for queen beds and got doubles. The breakfast was a joke: it was in a tiny cramped little room and was gone every morning we went down. Worst of all, we were constantly bombarded by the extremely loud noise of elevator machinery. Seriously, it was impossible to relax there.
Convenient location to convention center and major highways. Breakfast was not the greatest. Though internet was free would have preferred high-speed wifi.
Close to Dodge Theater and restaurants. I was told at check in my reservations had been canceled. Luckily they had two rooms for us.
convenience to the ballpark
The people in the hotel were very pleasant and very helpful and accomodating. There was a noise in the hotel that started after 9:00 pm and was gone by the time I woke up. I did not complain about it because it did not keep me awake. When it was time to replace the towels my washcloths were not replaced I had to ask for them.
Nice and filling breakfast, wifi and business centre to use printer, nice pool was great as it was close to 90 some days. Short walk downtown and PCC. Hotel manager let us keep room until 5 pm as we had a late flight the last day...it was great to start the long journey home refreshed. We will be back next year. A bar/restaurant would have been nice but luckily downtown was close.
Hotel was extremely clean and nice, and most major venues were only about a mile walk away, would highly recommend.
The facilities were as expected, close to good restaurants. No.
Good location, enough parking space, very friendly personnel and they helped in all questions, breakfast
Everything. Roomy, clean. Nice breakfast. Great deal. Location.
Great historic building that fit in right in the center of downtown. As it is a historic property, the lobby was marvelously refurbished with its marble surroundings. Rooms were extremely clean and comfortable and the style is wonderful. Close to everything in downtown including the light rail, bars/restaurants, sports arenas, and nightlife. As it is a historic property only valet parking available which may inconvenience some but wasn't a deterrent for me. Room service limited to a few hours daily.
The Hotel San Carlos is a fascinating gem out of the 1920s. Great for the history buff, someone willing to try something unique for a lifetime memory. The staff was considerate, always helpful, and very friendly. I had no complaints. Would stay there again. (Plus, the bath towels have to be the largest ever made...the size of beach towels!) Thankful there were lots of close restaurants. The Vietnamese restaurant was outstanding. Realize that costs and parameters limit what can be done for historic landmarks, but carpeting needs updating, wall art (movie star pictures, etc.) could be updated. And...would be great to receive a handout of all the special floor 'tourist points' or history. Ended up going floor to floor to read everything and see everything.
The staff was very friendly and pleasant. The rooms were old and small. Yes, old building, charm, history, cool, but in the heart of downtown Phoenix in this modern age, you can update your buildings to keep the old charm and still allow for the enjoyment of modern conveniences. A hotel is a customer service oriented business and the building itself is crucial to the customers experience. Our room was very small but ok, could be livable with the right amenities. Very few outlets so tough to charge up computers and phones. None in the Bathroom! None! So I had to blow my hair dry in the other room. The bathroom had a huge sink but zero counter space. So what was the counter put my toothpaste, make up, hairbrushes and such on while i got ready? A toilet seat. Yup. No counter in the bathroom. It had the charm of an old place with the type of tile but so much of the tile was chipped and the paint peeling away from the walls it just felt old and dirty and run down. The drain in the shower didn't work well and I was standing in several inches of water while I showered. No room to room AC so you were at the mercy of how cool the people at the hotel wanted to keep the place. In AZ its 100+ all the time. I bet our room at night was 77 degrees or more. We were sweating and it made sleeping tough. We probably will opt for a more modern place just for the AC and clean feel next time and be willing to pay a higher price for it.
Have stayed there many times, will return. Be careful: do not get an adjoining room.
The front desk lady was extremely rude to start. Absolutely zero parking although the add indicated parking is available. We had to PAY for parking and walk 5 blocks in the 110 heat. No breakfast. The bathroom door had no lock. And, the kicker is this morning I have little bites all over me!
Location & price. I was given a room key for a room that was already occupied. Then, the guests on my floor (3) were loud all night, as if there was a party in the hallway outside my door.
I don't expect much when it comes to amenities, but the bathroom didn't even have soap. Like, so I could wash my hands. Both elevators were broken the entire time too
Not a high end hotel but very quaint. Staff were very nice and the place was very clean. I will be returning!
The history of the hotel was pretty cool. The room was very small in comparison to newer hotels.
great location, friendly staff Bathroom
Friendly staff, great pool, very well kept hotel. Please fix the ice machines that were broken on each floor. And a second working elevator would be great, the past two years I have stayed there only one worked.
Location The room was clean, but the electrical was scary. Best was hard and saggy in the middle. I amenities in lobby. Not historic just old and neglected.
The pool deck was gorgeous and the staff was nice. The location was okay but still a little sketchy. You can hear everything. Every sneeze or soft whisper from other rooms. The windows let every street noise in.
The room was clean but had no wastebaskets. Toiletries provided were lotion, lotion and conditioner. The plumbing produced lots of noise when I or the room next door tried to take a shower, and the water was only lukewarm. Breakfast was pretty good compared to other Super 8s I have stayed at.
Staff was friendly. This was the dirtiest room I have ever stayed in. The carpets, doors, comforter, even one of the towels were dirty! The continental breakfast was a joke, and there were only 3 tables with hardly enough room for 6 people to be in there at a time. The neighborhood wasn't very nice, but I was trying to find something cheap within walking distance of the convention center. I walked it, but it was a bit of a hike. You get what you pay for, and at least I didn't pay much.
The room was supposed to be smoke free, but reeked of smoke including bedding, towels, etc and the smoke alarm had the battery removed. The place was so dirty I had to was off the light switch and the phone before touching either. I asked for a different room, the manager told me no, I checked out one hour later because I couldn't breathe in all the smoke.
Our overall stay was decent. Quiet, never any interruptions. What I didn't care for, the pool was absolutely disgusting. After taking a shower, we discovered our feet were dirty. We discovered it was the carpet making our feet black! Also dropped some jewelry between the bed and night stand, reached down to grab it and pulled back a handful of what appeared to be cookie crumbles..upon further review there was tons of food crumbs, some hair accessories and other items, that were not ours.
Bad Wi-fi condition, breakfast with minimum menu. If you are looking for relatively cheap accommodation, it's fine, but I still think I overpaid.
Close to the downtown area. Within a few minutes walk to ballpark, arena, and convention center
