This was a complete random choice thru hotel tonight app but I could not leave once I saw the lobby : the citizens bakery and then the amazing room : I ended up extending my stay thru 9 more days! Great happy staff and excellent realistic affordable room rates made me continue to call this home / I'm happy there and I consider it my new Portland home when I'm in town Everything was awesome. Great gob everyone!
Staff was super great! Room was clean. Great location. Worth every penny! The wifi only last 30 minutes unless you pay extra.
We loved everything. The bed was very comfortable. The room was beautiful and spacious and modern. The shower was amazing. It was huge and had 3 different shower heads. All of the staff was super friendly an amazing. The girl working the front desk upgraded us to a suite. without any charge just because we had mentioned it was date night when she asked us what brought us to Portland. The room we stayed in had floor-to-ceiling Windows which was so pretty at night. We have robes too. as a woman the other thing I loved was our shower head shampoo conditioner and body wash pumps on the wall. I normally bring my own shampoo and conditioner when I travel because in those little tiny bottles there's never enough product. So being able to use as much conditioner as I needed was a definite plus. We also had dessert at the restaurant which was super delicious. It was a gorgeous evening in the rooftop bar is lovely. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back.
Total redo of an older hotel. Very modern. Love having the coffee shop downstairs to grab breakfast at in the am and the hotel restaurant upstairs in fantastic. Great location with easy access to the MAX train lines. No issues. The parking at $25/day is high.
The entire facility needs upgrading. As I walked into the lobby and down the halls it was shabby. The rooms however, were better than the common areas.
Helpful staff. Facility is due for renovations - they start next month.
Loved the bedding. Slept great. I did not like the bathroom sliding door. To slide it open is heavy and unsafe when it is open. Almost walked into the mirror. It is beautiful though.
The bed was about the only good thing about the Red Lion. The location near the Moda Center is nice too! Loudest hotel ever!! Paper thin walls and a room by the elevator = Not a lot of sleep. $14 parking is ridiculous! Especially after paying for the overpriced room... The cleaning crew started cleaning rooms at 9am. So much for respecting their guest.. We've stayed at a handful of Red Lion hotels and this one is by far the WORST!! Save yourself some money and aggravation and book the Quality Inn across the street!
We loved the quality of our king size mattress and how the housekeeping team did an exceptional job tending to our room. We also loved that we were able to text the hotel 24/7 to ask about places to eat, sightseeing, and other recommendations anytime, anywhere! It's really in a wonderfully located spot that is quiet, calm, and relaxing. What a wonderful staff! We wish there was a pool on site, but besides that, we couldn't complain!
pleasant atmosphere courteous clean helpfu; to elderly couple prompt with service and recommendations overall - l a good experience would definitely stay again. nothing
Coffee was okay in the room Kinda reasonably priced. Kind of dirty. Thin walls. There are much better places to stay in Portland.
Very easy access to the mass transit, easy walking distance to downtown Portland and Saturday market A bit industrial in that specific location, but not too much so.
Great housekeeping, clean rooms, affordable prices. We thought this was closer to actual downtown, confusing name. the price of parking is ridiculous. We found free spots near the hotel but walking in the cold wasn't fun.
Not a lot. High price hotel with only the convention center to offer as an attraction. Not many attractions within walking distance. Auto rental was 3x what I usually pay I would not return to this hotel
Great location, great service, very comfortable and clean. Our original room had a small window frame gap which let a small amount of very cold air in (it was 30f outside). When we reported it to the front desk, they moved us to a separate room and even upgraded us to a bigger room. The second room didn't have the same problem. We were very pleased.
Really enjoyed the salt water pool and hot tub. Also got a room with a great view of downtown. The bed was comfortable and the rest of the room was really clean. Only wish that it wasn't right next to the moda center. And they charge you $19 a night for parking, which is really ridiculous to me.
Rooms had a great view & lots of space
I like the staff. They were helpful and giving. Very nice and professional. The food was good as we had room service. I didn't like a 230am fire alarm that was tripped. I didn't like the fact Kayak did not express the 24.00 a night parking and valet. The front desk lady who was very nice at check in gave us 25.00 in food and drink vouchers. The valet also said street parking was free and available after a certain time. I tipped them good.
Nice hotel with outdoor space that has fire pit. Recommended.
For $250.00 plus tax for 1 person I would have liked an extended continental breakfast included in the room rate
The hotel staff was the friendliest and most accommodating group of people. $25 per night valet parking was annoying
We travel to town to catch Portland trailblazers games at the Moda center and always prefer to stay here. The rooms aren't as up to date, stylish and updated as the lobby, restaurant and bar.
The view from the top floor is gorgeous!
It had a TV Im almost certain the desk clerk stole my debit card. Management refuses to believe it could have been him
Staff was wonderful. Very helpful with suggestions on what to see, where to eat. Close to the train and I-84. Will definitely stay again. Need one more trash can in the room. :-)
The people who work here are beyond friendly and inviting. This hotel is also in a great location.
The location Max Rail was loud.
Smelly. Squeaky bed unsafe location
The beds were super comfy, room was spacious, heater worked well and the staff were friendly. Location was perfect for us in walking distance to the moda centre, lloyd centre and the city train had a stop right out the front There was no faults to this accomodation.
best price and clean enough. Room smelled a bit like perfume...probably for masking smoke smell. Opened windows and was fine.
I chose it for the location and that was great - fit my needs perfectly
This is a great place to stay if you're not going to spend a lot of time in the room. If you're here for business, or to adventure off into Portland then it's an excellent location. The room is very basic, including a bed, desk, dresser, TV, bathroom, and air conditioning. It's not particularly fancy, and I felt my room was a bit dim even with all the lights on. It didn't bother me but some people may feel it looks a bit spooky. If you're looking for something fancy, look elsewhere. For what I paid I think the room and location was excellent. It's a great basic place to spend the night. I particularly didn't care at all, because I was falling asleep right away every night, but if you're a light sleeper, stay away!! The Portland Trimet system runs very efficiently and you'll be hearing a rumbling sound every ten minutes. My room's shower unit also had a water temperature handle that was labeled incorrectly, so cold and hot were reversed. Potentially dangerous. But at least it was a good, hot shower when adjusted properly.
The room is nice and clean. The hotel has an old feel to it. Checkout was at 12pm. We decided to get breakfast before checking out at 8am. When we came back they has already started cleaning. I needed to use the bathroom and when I walked in everything was half cleaned and wet everywhere still. So disappointed with this. As I went to the bathroom the cleaning guy still proceeded to clean the room while my friend waited in the hallway. Weirdest experience ever...
For the price I didnt like much of anything. It was noisy all night from traffic or the transit system. Felt almost unsafe even with the door locked. This is a last resort if ya need a spot to stay.
Clean, comfortable rooms. Quiet. Good location - convenient to everything we wanted to see. Free parking. Really nice staff. I wish check-in was earlier. Most places have some flexibility there. But, it's a smaller place and if they can't, they can't.
The place was clean, beds were comfy, the staff was nice and the location was good - stayed for Kumoricon, was about a five minute walk from the convention center, and the sauna was nice~ Free breakfast was scarce, poor water pressure for the shower, old building - no elevator (friends and I had lots of luggage), the key cards don't work at times - sometimes it took one try to get into the room other times it took up to 10 tries.
The front desk was very friendly. Close to Moda Center and restaurants. We had no hot water in the morning. The breakfast bar was now replenished in a timely manner. We are supposed to be getting a 50% refund from you because we had no hot water.
Comfortable bed. Clean No abc, cbs, or nbc. Had to go to the crowne plaza to watch badketball. Staff did not acknowledge us. Staff put leftover guest butter out for breakfast.
Ample free parking, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, I didn't like having to go through the lobby to get to my room.
Location is very nice - a lot of public transportation in walking distance. It smells like an old hotel...
I have stayed here every time I have come to Portland for a Blazers game since 2013. This hotel always has wildly different pricing, when I booked this room the Shilo site was advertising $120, I paid $80 on Kayak. It's only a 5 minute walk to the Moda Center and the streetcar stop is right out front. Rooms are always clean and never get the "Oh crap, bedbugs" vibe. Bagels with no cream cheese?? Really guys? And a 19" CRT? Pop for a TV from this century, even The Campus Inn in Eugene has LCD's.
Out of Downtown, but very close. Near Light-Rail and Max lines. Several breweries nearby and soooo close to the Pearl District. Older facility, needs some upgrades. Entrance is hard to navigate with crutches, walker or wheelchair.
Breakfast Locks on the door. Toddler kept getting out. Needs a chain lock on the top. Found a dirty sock on the floor from the last guest. Coffee stains on the comforter also not ours. Beds were very uncomfortable. I felt like the beds were made and not changed.
Great location, clean room, friendly staff. Bathroom setup was tight and awkward.
The bathroom wax clean and looks new Might need to update the blanket covers
-Location -Price is cheaper than surrounding hotels -Convenient access to I-5 -Very dated -Good price for the location, but this is not a $200/night hotel -TV, iron, furniture, etc should all be replaced and updated -Not the cleanest place I've stayed at
good location friendly staff, right on public trans. cl line, room was clean bed was comfy.
Convenient location to downtown and clean. Location is save and Starbucks is close by, hahaha. The staff was not interested in the customer at all, just there to take the money and that is it. The MOST disappointing part was the internet strength or the lack thereof. If you need internet service go to the starbucks only a few blocks away.
Friendly staff. Clean room.
sleeping was not possible due to the ugly smell nothing is there you can like, take the hotel out of your file!
Nil Staff was not responsive and rude. Dirty beds and restroom
Do your very best to avoid this place
I've stayed at a $1/night hostel in Cambodia that was more hospitable than this. The photos on google made this place look simple yet clean and affordable. However, upon walking in and seeing the moth-eaten, cigarette burned smelly blanket and the bathroom that resembled the sump pump in my basement, my skin immediately started to crawl. We got the heck out of there and ended up staying at a friends house that night. Didn't get a refund but honestly it was worth it to not have to stay there for the night.
No towels or bedding or anything in the room. The people running it were obviously drug addicts. They rent out rooms by the week so there are a lot of drug addicts living there. I'm a young guy so I wasn't really worried about it but if I were a woman or there with a family, I would be very concerned about safety. It was just gross and dirty all around.
Close to free rapid transit to downtown Poorly maintained; limited supplies in room; no clothes hangers
Neighborhood was scary and falling apart. Homeless people, boarded up houses, curtains of the hotel were falling down so you could see into filthy rooms. We ended up staying at a different hotel.
I was truly concerned with this hotel - as an example - the taxi driver who left me asked if I thought I would be ok. The service was non-existent, no room service, cleanliness - no comment, noise level high ( evictions and unhappy clients) when I checked in - after waiting 7 minutes for someone to arrive - I was yelled at for ringing the bell, I was informed there were no refunds but I had to pay before I saw the room. I was very jetlagged, so should have figured right then things were not good but... I believe I was the victim of bedbugs or other critters - I walked all my belongings into my basement laundry room on my return home, but still suffering the effects. Security was non-existent, services were non-existent - one piece of soap, no towels or cleaning over a 4 day stay, basic level filthy. Noise levels and odd activities - high.
The name Everything else, should be torn down
the flying mystery surrounding the motel. the other customers. the ecological ventilation system. the flashing lamp in one of the rooms. this is hard to tell. the olfactive footprint of the rooms. the fact that closets do not close so well. the closing system of the curtains.
The staff were very nice and friendly, making sure we felt at home, and accommodated an early arrival for us! There was also a fridge in the room which was great for bringing home left-overs. The location was close to the MAX (about a 10 minute walk), but it was in a questionable neighborhood (there were hypodermic needles on the sidewalks), making us feel unsafe to walk home after dark, so we took a cab. Also, the room had no trash can, and didn't come with towels - we had to request them.
I can't say there was anything. We nearly didn't stay the night asked for another pillow didn't get. had to take own garbage out. furniture old ,not very clean or attractive
