Hertz was overbooked, so I made hundreds of dollars extra in Lyft ride which could have been avoided. If overbooked why can't the system send a message or at minimal a call

The stated pick up time for the car was 5:00 p.m. I arrived at 5:02 p.m. and the place was dark. On the website it says it's open until 6:00 p.m. but they had a paper sign on the door saying the hours were to 5:00 p.m. Why would they allow me to set a pick up time after hours? Ridiculous! So I ended up having to go around the corner and rent a car from Enterprise. Should have done that in the first place.

We loved the vehicle that we had!!

Cons:

They told us that there were no vans available likely reserved. When we told them an SUV would not work for us as we had a lot of stuff we needed to bring on our trip then all of the sudden we had an option of two vans. That was confusing to me. I am really thankful we got the van.
