New Corola, Toyota. If you are not familiar with car make and model features. You need to ask them to show you how things work...steering wheel controls and other premium model items. Also have $300-$500 available credit on you card that you use for rental.

The air conditioner in car we rented did not work! Asked for partial refund, could not do because we went thru Expedia.
Pick-up took 2 hours in line because they didn’t have the right car for everyone and had only 1 person for a long time. Totally miserable. Car was fine but waiting that long was insane. No other rental counter had a line.

The car wasn't especially clean. The auto drive was disabled due to how the last driver operated the car. One of the reasons I went with the more expensive Tesla was that I could try out the auto drive. Also, there wasn't a sufficient adapter in the car to charge it at my destination. Would not rent again.

When I rented the car at like 2 am, I needed a large SUV to transport 6 teenagers across the state to a dance competition. Unbeknownst to my when I started to drive away the check engine light went on. I called budget they told me that if I didn’t feel safe that I couldn’t return it. Well now I was really late. They said the car should be fine and so I went on. The next today the car was driving like it was off alignment. I didn’t have time to switch cars nor drive all the way 1.25 hrs away to the nearest budget to get. A new rental. They didn’t offer any compensation except that I could switch the car out, which I had to pay for the gas there to switch it out and it took me over 4 hours with driving to get there switch it out and they made me fill up the tank again for my gas to get back to my location. I just think it is completely unprofessional to not offer road side assistance and specially when they knew that I had 6 teenagers that I was transporting and responsible for.

The first van I tried had a broken seat folding mechanism. The second one developed intermittent brake problem, had to call a tow truck and go for a replacement. Will certainly remember the Alamo as a rental company to avoid.

I asked for a Toyota Camry or equivalent. They had one, but the agent asked if I wanted to be bumped up to a BMW 3. Between him wearing a mask, having a glass wall between us, him speaking rather quietly and me being 75, I thought he said "free upgrade". Turns out it cost me $150 for three days. Nice car but I didn't need the upgrade and would have declined had he communicated more clearly. Other than that, not a bad experience.

Your staff was awesome. The phone service to reach the desk/store is horrendous - the automated line just dumped me into a generic “sorry no one’s available” message after trying to call repeatedly for an hour…an automated queue call back would be way beneficial for your team.

Attendants at the counter and at return were personable and helpful. Check in and access to the car was easy and without frustration. The car was clean and more than sufficient for our needs. Directions for how to get to the rental center from the airport were not clear, however. It was an otherwise excellent experience.

Avis now ranks below fox in my book... and that is hard to do. The "legal" term for what I experienced was bait and switch. EV (said my credit card rental coverage probably didn't cover Electric vehicles and the only other option was a 10 person van which at 5'3" and 67 years old would be unsafe for me to drive. I expect to have my original price honored and am ready to raise hell if it's not.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with. I was left to resolve the matter on my own. The 3rd party Kayak used did not address my issue and left me stranded. I could not move the reservation to any other provider, and I had to find a vehicle myself. We were 2 hours late for our meeting. And what makes this worst is I prepaid everything. I would not use KAYAK or their service providers again and I will tell everyone I know about this experience

i put an electric car on hold, but when i arrived i was told it would only have a range of 100-150miles. i was also told if i didnt bring it back charged fully it would cost me an extra $35 and that charging would take about 4-8 hrs. so for a one night rental i was looking to be charging/waiting around constantly. they did get me a gas car, but it wasnt cheap.

I called Payless to make sure I could pick up a car with my later flight (expected arrival time 10 pm), even though their office hours say they close at 10. The agent I spoke to said "that location allows for pick-up and drop-off 24/7. When I arrived 30 minutes late because of a delayed flight, the Payless counter was closed with a handwritten note to go to the Avis counter to pick up my car. After a 2 hour wait in the Avis rental line, I was required to rent a new car from Avis and was told they (the Avis counter) do not have access to the Payless inventory. Garbage experience!

I was on a late flight thus when arrived at Thrifty counter was near 9pm on Jun/3rd, 2025. Thrifty counter staffs were very efficient in helping all customers get their rental vehicle. The staff who assist me, Anthony, was exceptionally helpful in explaining my rental condition, fuel options, additional insurance, etc. This is one of the best experiences I enjoyed in car rental in the U.S..

I only noticed this error after I completed the purchase, but the agent said it wouldn't be a problem to change it later. I called Enterprise the next day to make sure it was OK to change the drop-off location and they said it would add over $300 to my one-day rental! Obviously, I declined, dropped it off downtown, and took a $15 Lyft ride to the airport. I was just picking up a car parked at the airport, so I had no time-crunch, but this could've really screwed someone's day up if they were trying to catch a flight!

The order was placed through your platform with Europcar, in reality it was with FOX, which excluded themselves from any and all other arrangements. They could tell me if insurance was added to the rental. And after I had discovered that it in fact was not added, it could not be added later on. We took the car for 26 hours and ended up paying 210$ I will not use your service again.

Couldn’t Rent rhe car and my card got charged twice .. very very poor experience Kayak and appears there are so many intermediaries that no one actually cares about the customer .. utter rubbish! I have to follow up and chase my money and eventually booked directly with Avis .. not going to use your platform ever again. It’s all a joke! And I am sure no one who actually cares will do anything about it so not sure why you do these surveys and waste time !!!

Bad hours, no communication when I emailed about extra charges, extra unexplained charges, wrong vehicle. I purchased an intermediate SUV rental and was initially told I would get a sedan, them was given a tiny crossover when I showed my confirmation email. We could barely fit 5 people and luggage in it.
