We upgraded at check-in for an extra $50 which doubled the space. The location is excellent as it's walking distance to several sites. The fitness center is excellent and is included in the price of the room. Lack of parking requires you to valet for $56 a day. If you are somebody that needs a great view you won't find it here.
Location Hidden charges. $58 a night to park. Nowhere did I see that when I booked the trip. $8 for a draft beer that should be $3, I get a call from security in the evening waking me up, stating that the policy is to call if the do not disturb sign is out. The do not disturb sign was out, I didn't want to be disturbed. Couldn't go back to sleep. I'm a small business owner, if I treated my customers that way, I would be out of business. I will never give that hotel a dime again.
Excellent Capitol Hill location. Comfortable base for young children on their first tour of the Capital.
Spacious room, quiet, clean and well-appointed.
Clean sheets, very comfortable bedding, clean showers and floors. Great location with respect to the national mall. Gym is great. Would definitely recommend. Nothing.
The room was nice until we looked out the window and found we had a great view of the roof... (sarcasm) Valet constantly begging for tips. Being from Vegas I tip almost excessively however if someone begs for it or nearly has his hand out the entire time it is not coming. It's called a gratuity for a reason. Then when delivering the vehicle no opening the trunk, and doesn't return the seat to where they found it or at least close. Not much effort in valet.
Internet, parking, tv hdmi not working, deceiving "city view"
The breakfast was very overpriced!!!
Walking to distance to good lunch and dinner choices Hotel lobby shop was typical "airport prices" for anything you'd want, making You feel like a fool if you didn't to walk across the street and buy a snack or coffee at 1/3 price.
Very nice amenities and the shower was great! I booked my stay two month prior for a King Bed for one night. When I got there, they said they were sold out of King Bed's and all they had were two doubles. Not the biggest deal, but what is the point of booking a King in advance if that is not what is available? Also, our room did have a musty smell to it when we first got it. After running the air for a bit, it went away.
Quiet even though we were on lower floor and overlooked front of building. Great location. Restaurant (breakfast) food just ok.
That staff was very helpful and friendly. Also, the location was great. Very close to the Capitol building. We upgraded to a buffet breakfast, which was lacking and the hot food was cold. Not a good value at $25/ person, but at a hotel, I understand the price, but if the food is cold, then it was a waste of money.
The location was good. The decor was nice and what you would expect from a 4star hotel. They tried to charge us for umbrellas that were returned to the front desk. When I returned the umbrellas to the front desk, the lady was very rude for no reason. Two of the elevators were out of service and the other two seemed as if they would break soon. It was scary everytime getting into the elevator because it would shake and make a noise. Twice the door didn't close all the way completely, leaving a small crack, and the elevator would not move. I highly doubt I would stay here again because of the lady I dealt with that was rude and tried to charge me for umbrellas that were returned.
The rooftop pool cannot be beat. It is a beautiful space with cabana and plenty of seating. The room was on the 10th floor making the pool and fitness center easily accessible. Within walking distance to the capital and the mall. Hidden fees, and outrageous parking price, poor attitudes of front desk staff, "free coffee" pretty pathetic, coffee maker in the room not ideal. We couldn't take personal food up to pool despite no signs saying so. I felt like a teenager being reprimanded for sneaking candy into a movie theater. Bar at pool does have food, but be prepared to pay high dollar for pretty average food, without a lot of options. Poor communication regarding hotel activities, woke up for yoga class early only to find it must have been canceled without anyone letting us know. Pool was closed at 5 pm, we weren't even allowed to put our feet in because there wasn't a lifeguard. Website clearly says pool open until 10. It overall was fine, nothing miserable, but some of these details led to a less then impressive stay.
- Great location. - Friendly staff. - Gym doesn't seem to be well maintained. - Noisy.
The location was great, good value for the room however parking was an additional $54/night. Try out Art and Soul restaurant, delicious! Parking. But in DC I guess it's standard...
Everything was nice. Great location. Fantastically comfortable bed. Slept like a baby Parking $48. My only complaint :(
The room was a little bit too much in regards to modern art deco. There was no two lamp that was the same. Parking cost $48 overnight,
We enjoyed our stay at the Washington court hotel after the liaison did not have a room for us. We arrived at the liaison at 12 am hoping to get into our room quickly and get some rest. We waited in line for at least 30 minutes to check in, as other guests appeared to be having issues with check in. After finally reaching the check in desk, we were told that the room we had reserved was not available. The only available room had no bed, just a pull out couch that could only sleep one person. This situation was the same for another 5-6 parties attempting to check in after us. We were given the option of staying at another hotel down the street and switching back to the liaison for the second night of our stay. We decided to cancel our liaison reservation and stay at the other hotel for both nights. The entire situation was handled in a very unprofessional manor, adding stress and confusion to what we hoped to be a relaxing weekend.
I liked the decor and unique style of the hotel. I checked in at night so when we arrived we were able to appreciate the dim lighting and music. There was a lot of activity going on over at the bar/restaurant. People seemed to be enjoying them selves. The room was nice and clean. I liked the products in the bathroom. The bed was comfy and the lighting was modern and unique. It took 20 minutes of standing in a very short line before I was checked in. There was a jug with fruit infused water for guests to enjoy. But there was also an overflowing trash can of plastic cups right next to it. There was only one person assisting customers. When I gave my name and info, the representative had a hard time. I showed her my reservation on my phone. She looked at it for at least 3 minutes and then told me that I need to call Kayak to get my confirmation#. I was confused and asked shouldn't she call them (since I stood in line for so long). Luckily I found what she missed on my reservation and she was able to check me in. Later that evening, we were given the number to a local restaurant that delivers. We ordered food. The next morning there is a receipt for a long distance call on the floor near the door. When I called the front desk about it, the rep said they would talk to their manager. When I checked out that day, I mentioned it and the representative at the desk dismissively said that her boss took care of it. No apology or friendly demeanor to spare I suppose. The carpet in the lobby needed vacuuming. It looked like the day after a party in the lobby.
They didn't let us into our hotel room until very late in the day we arrived due to slow housekeeping service. Upon checkout, we realized we had forgotten a few items in the closet. I called the front desk to tell them of the issue and they said they would take care of it, but when I showed up a few hours later to grab my bags from the coat room and go to the airport, they had no record of me having called and couldn't locate our items left in the closet. One bellman went out of his way to help out and was able to find some but not all of our clothes.
Either the hotel or this booking service gave misleading info. Internet was listed along with TV, sofa, etc., as included. But then the hotel said internet was $14.95/day. They eventually agreed to not charge me for it.
Pool not open because they didn't get the chemicals test early enough before the open time , act not working , room not clean, no tub , can't check in until 4 pm
the room was perfect had to pay for parking internet and food I i didn't like the customer service the elevator was not working my room was floor 8 even though i tried to connect the internet and pay it did not work when i talked to to the reception did not help they asked me to bring my laptop and phone down stairs
I liked the location Facilities, it is expensive for what they offer
First class location and facilities Expensive
Updated, modern hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location for touring DC by foot. Restaurant food was so-so. Found places close by for all of our other meals.
Very friendly staff! Watch the charges. Some claim "free" or complimentary but they aren't. Also the front desk wasn't staffed well for a busy weekend of a large charity function. Longer than expected wait times to check-in and out especially.
Friendly staff. Citrus water in lobby refreshing Great interior design/decor Location No free wi-fi
Friendly staff, accommodating, awesome location No pool
Good location for business or travelers as it is very close to Union Station.
Most convenient location. A short walk from Union Station where our bus dropped us. A short walk to the memorials and the mall. The lobby was huge and welcoming, though some of the couches were a bit worn and needs to be replaced. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, and there was a Keurig coffee maker in our room! The bathroom was very spacious and the showers were awesome. A safe would have been helpful to store passports, money and small electronics instead of lugging everything around while touring. A small refrigerator would have been a good enity to have. My 5 yr old grandson had milk and snacks that needed c
Central location and near Union Station.
very close to visit places. very neat and customer service was very good. I would recommend this hotel to my friends
Broken towel rack in the bathroom
Valet and door staff were terrific, as was check-out staff. Rooms were clean, comfortable and well-appointed. The location was perfect for our activities in the city, close to the Metro and the Capitol. Price was very reasonable, Overall it was an excellent value. Registration person never bothered to look up during the transaction, even when we first approached the desk - she just sensed we were there and launched into her questions. Repeated the mistake when we returned with the valet ticket to stamp.
Quiet room. Shower worked. First room not clean (pubic hair in tub, stuck to used soap). Changed room. Got a sarcastic apology. Next day, coffee maker in room didn't work. Asked for a new one. Instead, they sent a repair guy ("did you put water in it?" -really!?). Took 45 mins to finally get coffee & hit the gym brfore AM meeting. And what a dump of a gym. One of two treadmills broken, eqipment from 1980. Oh. And $10 for in-room wifi? Why would a business traveler stay at this place? I won't do so again.
Location was great and bed was comfy. Internet wasn't working and front desk response was unhelpful and dishonest. And for anybody keeping track, 2 coffees in the lobby were $15. Cheaper at the Ritz.
Baggage holding after checkout. Plenty of towels. Limited to 30min free wifi in lobby. Hours of bar.
Location is good and central. Price was o.k.-ish. Doormen friendly. front desk staff was either not friendly (one person) or not very competent (second person). Bathroom was not cleaned well on arrival and cleaning person wasn't friendly, either. Won't stay here again.
I RESERVED 5 ROOMS BUT WHEN I CALLED TO ASSIGN NAMES TO THE ROOMS, I WAS SUBJECTED TO A PISSING CONTEST BETWEEN THE FRONT DESK AND RESERVATION DEPARTMENT. iT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE RESOLVED, BUT ON ARRIVASL IT WAS NOT. iT CONTINUED DOWN HILL AT THE FRONT DESK. NEVER AGAIN...
The staff, lobby, bar were very good and comfortable. The resturant was average. The room was small since the building was converted to a hotel from the post office. I stay with the Kimpton chain all the time. The room was very small for 2 people and 2 21 inch suitcases. However, it was functional. I rete the hotel 3.5 starts.
Staff was great Size of room
Great location if spending time along the National Mall. It's only a few blocks down. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff very kind and helpful. The in-hotel restaurant Poste is very good as well (get the Lamb Burger!). Overall, my wife and I had a great time there. Like most hotels ... the pillows. The mattress itself was great, but the pillows were small and squished down to near nothing.
This hotel, in an excellent location is a bit "long in the tooth" as the Brits would say.. but aside from the 1/4 mile walk to my room, the staff was great and they had a nice hospitality bar in the main lobby. Getting your bag up a flight of stairs w/o a ramp is something that they should work on .. esp when no valet staff is around to help. About as convenient as the NY Subway.
I loved my stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco. Our room was on a quit floor, spacious with high ceilings, a seating area, and a fully stocked minibar. The hotel is centrally located so easy to walk to nearby restaurants and museums. The pillows were not fluffy, more flat leaving my neck sore the next morning.
Beautiful room in historical building within short walk to all major museums, White House, and the Mall. Gold fish provided by the hotel (you have to ask for it) kept us company and made us feel at home. Complimentary bottle of champagne for my birthday was unexpected and wonderfully rounded up absolutely unique experience.
Friendly staff who helped with relocation to a room on a different floor than initially indicated and provided forgotten toiletries in the morning. This hotel is in a neat building and in a great location. The weather, but you can't control that.
Great Hotel. My wife and I stayed here for valentines/anniversary. We were very pleased with the service from start to finish. We got the King Room with the vaulted ceilings and was everything we expected and more. Wow! those robes are nice and after not going ahead and buying one the spot I finally just broke down and ordered it. Staff at the front desk were very courteous and helpful and that extra touch of remembering that I had called earlier to inform them that we would not check in until after dinner was nice. (Hey I know its in the computer but its nice to hear the words). We will definitely return again.
Fun hotel, great staff. Enjoyed the visit Some issue with Bis at breakfast. Had to ask for many missing utensils, jam on table had been opened and used. Hard to get coffee refills. Lunch was excellent on all counts.
Nice room, liked the yoga mat in the room, great location literally minutes from Union Station, and very close to Capitol Hill, museums etc. When I checked in, the staff was very unfriendly. Seriously unfriendly. There was also a problem with the kimpton rewards. I signed up several days before the visit, and got an email that I was accepted, but the hotel had no record of this. I was able to login to the wifi with the email address I used with the kimpton rewards, but the hotel could not find it. It seems that they didn't want to accept it, even though they advertise it on their website and in the room.
Location. Pleasant, friendly.
Great staff, very accommodating. Perfect location, close to all.
Staff all friendly and welcoming. This is our third stay and it is still our favorite in DC. Breakfast is expensive but pretty good.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful rooms, close to the Capitol. Excellent pick.
Great location. Excellent restaurant and bar. Comfortable room. No in-room movies. Restaurant closed at 10.
The staff are wonderful, the rooms are spacious, the bedding is extremely comfortable. The restaurant is amazing, far better than I had hoped, and you cannot beat the location: @ 1.5 blocks from Union Station. And they served wine in the lobby from 5 to 6 p.m., so we were able to come back from a busy day and relax with a glass and chat with other guests. One member of our party was disappointed that breakfast wasn't included.
Hotel was nice and clean for the most part. Staff was wonderful and helped us valet park six hours before our check-in time. Location was close to Capitol Hill, yet in a shady part of town. Bed linens had some yellow stains, but we just folded that part to the end of the bed.
Always enjoy our stay here - great location
Complimentary Coffee/Tea bar 24/7, breakfast, daily apples in lobby, friendly staff. Neighborhood location under construction.
The staff were exceptional - friendly, professional, and accommodating! Spacious room that was very nice. Comfortable bed with freshly washed duvet instead of a nasty bedspread. Mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in the room, although fresh coffee was available in the lobby at any time. Wonderful shower and clean bathroom. Having never stayed in Washington DC before, we were surprised by the fee for parking instead of free parking. We found later that every hotel in DC charges for parking. It was roughly $50 per day but parking was secured safely in two basement levels. We had access to the car whenever we wanted, we just had to ask. our checkout time was 12:00 Sunday, but could stay parked until 1:00. We checked out in the morning and were able to pay an extra $10 to leave it parked until 5:00. Good deal! If you stay here, be sure to eat at least once at Busboys and Poets around the corner. Best crab cake platter I ever had! The were served over grits that were as creamy as mashed potatoes, covered with lobster sauce, and topped with fresh asparagus. And the waiting area is a bookstore! Wonderful atmosphere in the bookstore and restaurant.
Free hot breakfast and wifi are always appreciated, as are 24-hour coffee and tea (although one has to travel to the lobby for it!). Very convenient location within easy walking distance of metro station. Items in snack shop were overpriced and some items were out of stock, which further constrained one's already limited food options.
Forced to valet park at $99 for 2 nights. I don't like to valet park. I didm;t have an option. If I had known this ahead of time, I never would have booked.
Convenient to convention center. Older but modernized and clean. Not a lot of parking available. Valet was full both nights I stayed. Hotel keys problematic. Vending machines were not working On my floor.
A great value for being walkable to the capital mall area, great restaurants, etc. A block from Safeway too.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The gym had four workout machines and two of them were not functional. In the morning this prevented travelers from getting a morning workout in.
Staff, breakfast, pool
Walking distance to everything we wanted to do Parking was expensive
Location, facilities, clean hotel, price Parking option. We parked offsite, 3 blocks away, for 1/3 the cost.
For a stay in Washington D.C., I cannot imagine a more perfect hotel than the Courtyard Washington Convention Center. My husband and I were planning a quick sightseeing trip, and chose the hotel for its price and location. We could not have been more pleased. The hotel was immaculate, our beds were comfortable, and the staff was always more than accommodating. We were within walking distance of the National Mall, a number of museums and restaurants, and practically above Ford Theatre. The hotel itself was not without its charms; being an old bank, the basement included old vaults, and the local architecture, both of our building and the others in the area proved unparalleled. If we ever return to Washington D.C., we would love to stay here again. We were very sad to check out and see our visit end.
loved the design, staff, the room and the breakfast! the fitness room could use some mats for floor stretches. also there is some space for additional equipment, such as a cable trainer or a pull up bar
The hotel itself was pleasant despite being under repair such as an out-of-service elevator. The convenient location was key for us as we arrived and departed through Union Station, just a couple of blocks away. It's also reasonable walking distance to the capital building, China Town, Verizon Center, Pennsylvania Avenue, etc. The room was small but the bed and room were clean and comfortable. The desk staff were friendly and accommodating. The amenities were bare bones. No frig in room, no comp breakfast or wine hour. The fitness center was a little lacking as well: small space and there were free-weights, but no benches on which to use them. The water pressure in the shower was very weak. It was like trying to shower with a toy squirt gun. Check-in could have been a bit smoother: we arrived around noon, so we had previously requested an early check-in (normal check-in is 3:00 PM and this is not explicitly stated until you complete your booking). We were told over the phone early check-in would not be possible. Once we arrived, we went to the hotel anyway to see if we could store our bags. It turned out we were able to check in early, so I'm not sure why were initially told that early check-in was not possible. Service at the restaurant was poor. We went for lunch after checking in. I ordered a drink after we were seated and I did not receive it until after we were finished eating and had received the check. There was some kind of problem with their taps. They were apologetic and did provide the drink for free since it took so long, which was nice.
The proximity to downtown D.C. and the monuments was perfect! We loved that there were a few coffee shops and restaurants nearby, especially the Dubliner, an Irish restaurant and bar, that was situated right under the hotel itself. Staff was incredibly nice and the hotel was very clean - we plan to stay here whenever we come back to visit! The only downfall is that walking around the area at night can be a little questionable, especially going to or coming from downtown D.C. It's eerily quiet.
I liked the location and apparence about buiding, is a Tresaure of tourism in America. Bravo!
Location, the staff is friendly Draft from windows (they are not sealed),the bathroom is cold (no heating lamp there), the heating blows air straight to bed (not comfortable at all especially after taking a bath) no coffee maker in the room, and no hot drinking water in the lobby after 11 am.
My room was apparently newly remodeled, and was very modern, exceptionally clean, and very comfortable. The location - just two blocks from the parks surrounding the Capitol on the senate side, are hard to beat. It's a short block walk to Union Station if arriving via train or Metro. There is very little to the hotel other than the rooms - I didn't use the fitness center or the Dubliner restaurant next door, but if you are just looking for a convenient, impeccable room this is a great choice. I'll definitely return. Via the phone and their web site, they required a 3-day minimum stay. Fortunately booking via Kayak let me book a single night, or I would have had to stay somewhere else.
The hotel itself was pleasant despite being under repair such as an out-of-service elevator and an out-of-service ice machine. When I checked out, they tried to charge me for six nights when I had stayed five. When I pointed this out, there was no apology. Mistakes can be made, but overcharging by hundreds of dollars is a very big mistake and deserves some serious groveling. I waited about five minutes for them to correct this, but they couldn't even get logged into the computer. I told them I'd be in the breakfast room and to bring me the corrected receipt. After half an hour, there was still no corrected bill. I went back to the desk to ask about it. This time I got a mumbled "I'm sorry," but I wasn't sure if it was for overcharging or for taking so long. It seems they overcharged everyone in the hotel, and I was just the first to notice. They were sorting out the mess. Besides a serious apology, you'd think they'd be thankful to me for alerting them to a massive problem before they had a lobby full of irate guests. You might think they would at least offer to pay for my breakfast while had to wait so long, if not offering a free night. I got nothing but a long wait. I eventually got my corrected receipt and ran and caught my train to the airport by just one minute.
The room was beautiful and clean. The location was excellent. All the hotel staff were Grundy and courteous. Other room's room service trays sitting in the hallway for more than 24 hrs. Unbelievable that they charged $4 for the water bottles in the room. Tried to go for a drink in the pub, staff were not attentive; sat for over 15 mins without getting asked what we wanted or asked about drinks; simply left and no one noticed.
Location - walking distance from Union Station Staff - helpful at check-in Price - reasonable rate Rooms - small but just updated, look / feel great, stylish - felt like I was paying MUCH more No downside - rooms small but decorated so well that didn't notice or hinder the stay Arrived late, left early so didn't have any down-side to the stay Free coffee only - but liked the coffee lounge
Comfortable rooms, helpful staff. Private setting with an interesting bar. The night we were there the bar was very busy and noisy yet the noise was completely isolated from the lobby. Irish themed, the bar had an excellent selection of beers and whiskeys. We didn't try the restaurant, so I can't give an opinion. The Phoenix Park is an excellent choice, especially for business travelers. Nothing - good place to stay.
The location, the historic building and furnishings, and the connected Irish Pub in the building. Fantastic location! The amenities were bare bones. No frig in room, no comp breakfast or wine hour. Only one set of small bathroom toiletries. Room was dusty. Only one elevator working (under construction). Could offer coffee or iced tea or lemonade in lobby.
Close to Union station. Close to bus stops NO Microwave; No small fridge
Staff were very accommodating. Room was rather small, but very comfortable and immaculate. Restaurant and pub attached to hotel and cafe just down the corner. 5 minute walk to Union Station. Only thing missing was coffee maker in the room.
Room was good for one person on a business trip. I had problems with the parking. It was expensive for the bad service that was given to me. Also I was double charged for my room. I have booked many hotel rooms and that has never happened to me
It was a nice hotel, in a relatively good location. Not a far walk to the Smithsonians, White House, etc. Parking is expensive and they tell you there's no charge for room service to be delivered, but there is.
Various food, games Stains and hair contaminated blankets and towels.
I like it gives you your own kitchen in the room and it's across the street from a grocery store. Its clean, front desk is nice. Breakfast was leftover food from the social, you have to pay 50 bucks for parking everynight. The toilets water pressure is atrocious i mean 5 sheets of paper takes 2 tries to flush.
