Friendly helpful staff in downtown DC. The air conditioning in the room wasn't very good. It didn't feel like it dropped below 70F while set to 60F in November.
Spacious room with super comfortable bed. No warning for the loud construction noise just outside our bed window at 6:30 am Sunday and then 5:30 Monday am. When we complained the front desk said nothing could be done.

Location was excellent, most staff was nice and helpful. If you wanted Wifi, you had to pay extra. Channels on the television had horrible reception 9/10 times. One bellhop was incredibly rude when I asked to use a luggage cart, that were kept in their storage room at the moment, as I had multiple heavy bags to load in my car. Parking was outrageous per day ($60). This parking fee was also not included on Kayak or Pricline.
Excellent location for much of downtown DC. Around Midnight my room filled with old cigarette smoke as someone began smoking in the stairwell. The air quality overall in my particular room was poor, requiring the windows to be opened as much as possible. This of course made it difficult to sleep as the city sounds in DC near The White House are loud and replete with sirens 24/seven. Normally, one might cover one's ears to have silence. However, at this hotel the pillows are the size for small children.
food and service was good My husband and i were given an end corner room 302 that was way to small and gave a confined effect. We spent as much time out of the room as possible. Parking was also difficult due to lack of easy access to our vehicle asit was in an underground garrage.

We were in DC to visit our son at GWH. Clean and efficient. Perfect location to the occasion. The bed could have been positioned 90° to the 8' room width.

We went to DC to celebrate my husband's birthday for a long weekend. We looked for a long time online and a lot of the offering was overpriced for the amenities available. The Club Quarters was a great find!!!! The staff was very helpful throughout our stay. There is an espresso bar on the 2nd floor!! We were a few blocks from all the greatest attractions, walked to every site. Never had to take a cab or the Metro. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and will come back. We found a gem in D.C. and will be recommending it to our family and friends.

This is a great hotel, simple and convenient. The rooms are small, but quiet and the location is perfect. Right next to the metro and near the White House and mall. A little small... but otherwise great.
The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment I stepped through the door with my 12 year old. I detest the hold hotels put on your credit card and don't release for days and was told I could pay the $50 incidental in cash (which I received back at checkout before the housekeeper had even cleaned the room). The room was indeed small with only 1 bed which would have been a problem if I hadn't been traveling with family. However, it was clean, along with the bathroom. I did whack my elbow against the wall as I was showering as the stall was a bit cramped. We received great instructions on how to make our way to the White House and monuments - - all within walking distance. We finished our running around a bit early so we took advantage of the 2nd floor lounge for about a half hour before heading back to Union Station. There was an industrial coffee/espresso/cappuccino maker, tea bags, newspapers, a big screen tv set to CNN, a charging station, computers etc. The rooms are too small for friends to convene comfortably so the lounge is a nice spot. Convenience: A block away from the Circulator, a block away from the Farragut North and Farragut West station (it is actually on top of the Farragut West station, however, the entrance is closed so it's necessary to walk to the other side a block down). The complimentary bottled water saved us some money and we surely took advantage. The shower was uncomfortably small for a tall lanky person like me. Whacking my elbow against the wall isn't something I expect to happen in a hotel (usually hotel bathrooms are more comfy than my micro bathroom at home in NYC). Also, the room did not have a mini fridge which would have been nice for our leftovers. The hotel is downtown so the area at night is sparse (still feels safe though). You'll need to take a little walk to find some good breakfast if you set out early on a weekend because the nearby places are either never open on the weekends or only open closer to 9 am.

Location, excellent door men. No premium channels. Broken toilet that was "fixed" twice but I had to fix it myself a couple times. No water pressure. House keeping only left us with 1 towel. View of a brick building 6ft from my window. Bar staff were disruptive and joking loudly with doormen while people waited at the bar.

Staff was very friendly and the room was clean, comfortable, and dark at night. At check in my wife asked about a refrigerator since she is pumping and the young lady had one sent to the room. The refrigerator was broken. We were able to make due with ice from the hall.
The staff and service was first-rate and the location made walking easy to the various monuments and museums. Also the train station was in easy walking distance. I can honestly say that there was nothing bad about this trip...my wife and I had a wonderful time!
Very polite & accommodating There was 1 towel for 2 guests each day that required making a phone call for towels everyday. There was no blanket on the bed, just an abrasive comforter that was too hot. The room was never cool enough. We paid for a room with a view, but ended up with a room that looked at a wall.
The people at the front desk, the concierges, the doormen, and the housekeeps were truly concerned about my comfort and seeing that I had the best possible time in Washington. Your concierges are extremely knowledgeable and took the time necessary to help me find stores and restaurants; making phone calls for me to get things done. My own family doesn't care for me that well! Cannot think of anything. Oh, there is one little thing, the front door to my room, number 302, sticks. I meant to inform the front desk, but it was so insignificant compared to everything else, that I forgot.

I liked everything. The room was modern, well appointed, with a comfortable bed, and spacious bath. The staff was as pleasant and helpful as any I have encountered in some time. The location is great! I ate in the restaurant once and I enjoyed my meal. I look forward to my next visit. The closet space in the room I had was limited and would probably be tight for two people. This is a very small fault in an otherwise very pleasant stay.

Location is ideal for seeing the museums and monuments. Lobby and restaurant staff are warm and welcoming. If you forget to tip housekeeping each morning, don't expect clean towels.
State Plaza provides nice, basic business-type lodging with good service.
A great location within walking distance of the State Dept., where I was attending a conference. Staff was helpful. Renovated room in the north tower was beautiful. Spacious, super clean, full kitchen, new bathroom and carpeting. Comfy bed. CVS and a liquor store adjacent. Need to upgrade cable to HD service. No restaurants or cafes nearby--at least I couldn't find any.
The staff were helpful and nice and the location was convenient. The kitchen is a nice convenience, but not needed for a short stay. The carpet in the room was dirty. There is no fan or window in the washroom so steam from the shower stays in the room, this causes humidity and mold. I'm allergic to mold so this was very uncomfortable. The hotel has two towers, and only one common washroom with one stall located in the other tower. If you have a late flight out you can store your suit cases but no place to change. The toiletries were advertised as designer. It was bath and body brand. The washroom was dirty, hair in the tub. I don't recommend the Hotel for physically challenged guests as there are steep stairs up to the elevator from the lobby. I had to struggle with the suitcases up the stairs. Beware that the hotel charges if there are more than 2 occupants in the room. This was not disclosed at booking. They also charge for incidentals at check in. I found this Hotel to be Overpriced for what you get. I stayed at the Marriott down the street last year, I payed about the same and had a much nicer room, pool, etc.
* Room was a good size * Room included a kitchen area with full-size fridge and sink. The room was extremely cold, and when we turned the heat on, the vent blew colder air out. We called the front desk and were informed that they had "switched over" the system and that even though it was turned to heat it would only cool the room. We were told a space heater would be sent to the room, but one never arrived and then hours later we were told they were out of space heaters. If the heating and cooling system can be "switched over" then presumably it can be switched back, so my question for this hotel is if everyone was so cold that you ran out of heaters, why not switch the ability to heat rooms back on? Overall it was kind of bizarre and extremely inconvenient to have to wear coats indoors and put a damper on our otherwise-pleasant stay.
Kitchen and dressing area... very unique! TV didn't work very well. The front desk didn't know all the routes and ways to get to the DULLES airport.
Very clean and very well maintained. Nice accommodations. Nice staff. There was a transitional issue with the heating and air. We were between hot and cold days so the heat was the only option- no air conditioning. It was warm in the room on the hotter days- they did provide us with fans which helped. If it had been warmer outside it would have been very difficult to sleep.
BEDBUGS. I had to launder everything and throw away my luggage. very annoyed. have stayed here before but will not be going back.

Just a few blocks from the museums, white house, etc. Only 40 feet from a CVS. Rooms were nice and clean. My Only complaint was that when asked about parking they told me they have a Valet. Afterwards a friend told me he parked himself for free. Not sure if they changed their rules or it was just poor communication. Either way i paid like 35$ extra each night.

I came down to ride my bike to all the museums and monuments. When I presented my claim ticket for my bike to the bellman my bike had been stolen. I spent 4 hours in the lobby filling out a police report

The staff at the hotel went out of their way to please us. In particular: Mr. Herb Wright greeted us daily with his million dollar smile and was always ready to be of assistance. Mekdes Pierce, Nathan and Limlin worked so hard each day in the lounge for breakfast and appetizers/dinner. They were so kind no matter how busy they were. Absolutely not one thing. It was an outstanding hotel.

The actual hotel was clean and updated, the staff was friendly and helpful. Overall the actual stay was great. Nice little happy hour offered at the bar. Valet parked my car for 1 night, and took it upon themselves to charge $50 to my credit card, plus a $17 convenience fee. No lot in the surrounding area exceeded $25 for overnight parking. I should have parked my own car. I feel that the hotel was nervy and rude to charge us double the going rate for parking - without notifying me. I felt taken advantage of, since we were already paying top dollar for a 1 night stay. The hotel was nice, but not that nice. I stay in DC all the time, but I may not return unless this problem is rectified.
Excellent service. I ask them if I could make my check in before 3 pm (the official hour) because I was going to arrive at 9 am, and they had my room ready for that hour.
We were in a suite and it was spacious and nicely furnished. Most staff were nice. Great having a Starbucks in the lobby. Nice central location. The bathroom was small, especially the corner sink. There was no counter space. Front desk clerks were hit and miss. Some nice, some not. Concierge staff were great. The breakfast was OK, not great.

The hotel is a beautiful place with excellent finishes. Everything was in great condition and high quality. The rooms were small, which in understandable given the location, but this was a double bed room so it seemed even smaller.

My room was about ten years out of date, broken thermostat, etc. Entire hotel smelled like a small kitchen with no ventilation where someone had been cooking hamburgers. Gross.
I came in at 4 and there was no water or mini-bar in the room. They told me that if I wanted a Diet Coke I would need to wait until room service was open at 5. In the morning, they didn't fill the breakfast order -- said they didn't get it. This for $400 a night? Hardly 4 star service.
.... Reserved through Kayak and pre-paid the hotel fees, but my credit card was charged twice for the hotel fees. Second time being charged $490 additional for inexplicable reason. I have been calling them and trying to get in touch with their accounting department since Sunday to no avail. Only thing I'm getting is voicemail and I have left 2 separate messages to inquire about the charges, but still haven't heard back anything.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Mayflower. My husband and I were there to renew our vows on our anniversary and the staff were extremely welcoming, making sure our room was ready several hours before normal heck-in hours so that we could get dressed and off to the ceremony in time. I can't think of a single thing that was less than exemplary- the loveliest hotel in DC!
Location. The exterior of the building was pretty. The doormen were busy talking to help me walk into the front door. They must've thought I belong at their hotel. I didn't like the way that I was treated when I checked in. Just because I have tattoos and wear jeans doesn't mean I don't have money to spend. I judge people based on appearance, as everyone does, but this man at reception treated me like trash. Couldn't even look at me. I asked for a king size bed and I got a room with two full size beds. I went down to ask for water since the room has ZERO amenities. The guy at the front desk handed me two tiny bottles of water. Jeez, thanks for the sip of water. I will never stay there again. The hotel is cheesy, lacks any character, and they need to tell their staff to respect everyone. Young, old, white, black, men, women, tattoos, yuppy, anything. You never know these days who's who, who has money, who has clout.
I would not recommend this. Overpriced, small bedrooms for 250. 27 dollars for a below-par breakfast. Sheets were soiled. No terrace despite photos that claim otherwise.

Hotel was conveniently located and quiet generally. Since I only stayed for one night I did have time to form any strong opinions on the place. I thought the price was high but perhaps not given the address on Penn. Ave. The staff failed to inform me when room was available having arrived early in the morning.
Great location, walk to anywhere. Spacious room with separate kitchenette. Elegant and stylish. My wife enjoyed the makeup table in the room. Helpful staff. Noisy HVAC. Slow draining shower / tub with slippery bottom. Not enough outlets to power all our devices at once.
Location is awesome. Pillows were hard (I am picky), plumbing fixtures were broken (reported, not fixed, reported again), coffee not replaced for next morning two times, TV's are not HD. On a positive note, we had an excellent steak in their restaurant and the service there was outstanding.

I love "historic hotels" and this is a really nice one, with the upgrades that matter--excellent, comfortable beds, free internet, good location, helpful staff. You have to climb up stairs from the tiny lobby to the main floor. Is there wheel-chair access? I couldn't tell.
It was a cute hotel in the center of the city. Very reasonable rates walk right behind for a great steak dinner. $5 Uber to any place in town. Valet service was a bit unnecessary.

The conceirge was outstanding in his helpfulness. No coffee maker in the room, yikes, missed that first, fast heart- starting cup.
Location was great. Wonderful room. Two good restaurants with great staff but a bit expensive. All staff members were great! Fitness room was available even in this boutique setting. My son lost his stuffed animal while we were there and they left a new one in the room for him - it made him very happy (they later found his but let him keep the new one, "Freddie". Restaurant was too expensive, especially for breakfast. Fitness room was a bit small.

location of the hotel on center of the capital. in the 9th floor on my suite there was very noise left , which have a big sound when arrive to the floor, so he wakeup me of my sleep, many times on every day of my 12th night.
There was more room than I expected or needed. The suite was well appointed and felt luxurious. The staff were very helpful and courteous. One bathroom counter was not very clean. The outdoor noises, which were present late into the night, were significant. I'd recommend better, quieter windows for such a nice hotel.

We like the great location and the friendly and helpful reception staff. Scott from engineering is very responsive and dedicated. The cleaning staff is one of the poorest we have encountered in our travels. Their attitude is surly and their work poor. On our cleaning last cleaning day, 30 July, dirty sheets were left all day in the general hallway just off the elevator and our room was not cleaned. It was cleaned Saturday by a resentful staffer, who did not replace towelling completely and we found out later, threw out or bags we were saving in the cabinet under the sink for our own trash and shopping.

The accomodations were fabulous. Great fitness and business center. Courteous staff and location can't be beat when business at the Capitol. Little trouble communicating with maid.
I liked the comfort and facilities particularly. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment and we were a group of 3 adults. The space was large and comfortable. The heating system was easy to manage and the kitchen area was better stocked with utensils/equipment than the place we stayed in NYC. I was particularly pleased to have a washing machine and dryer in the apartment. The staff were very welcoming and helpful with information. The location was also excellent - just a short walk from the White House and it was an easy walk to most museums etc. Our criticisms of AKA are minor. A "light breakfast" is available Monday to Friday. This is tailored to the American market. We would have found it more usuable if more cereal options and toast were provided.
The suites were large, clean, and well decorated. The kitchens had everything you would need to cook meals. There were two nice cold bottles of water waiting when you got there. My daughter loved the open fire place in the lobby. Close proximity to the metro, specifically the green and orange lines for easy access to the National Mall. The folks at the front desk were very helpful. The washer and dryer was a real perk. We had a great stay at AKA! The tubs are a little high, but I assume so water doesn't splash out.
I had a very comfortable and modern furnished 1 bedroom apartment. It included a complete, well equipped kitchen and also a washer and dryer--quite luxurious! The public hallways always had a cooking smell--not always pleasant. The smell did not penetrate into the rooms.
Great location also amazing views ,fun staff and lobby had nice vibe turns into social setting with a DJ When I arrived was able to get a room right away as requested but it didn't have a view . And had ask the guy that was checking me in if I had a view he says yes I do , I walk in to my room it was a room facing the inside I of the building no view very disappointing so went back down and young lady was able to get us a much nicer room very happy . During the evening they have DJ in the lobby so when out all day and came back you requested your room key in order to get in the hotel not happy about that
Location was great. Checkout was advertised as 3:00 PM, We were not able to check into our room until 5:00. When we did check-in we had already pre-paid for a Fabulous Room, but the staff member that was checking us in recommended we switch to a Spectacular Room since we had a young child. He said the Fabulous Room would be too loud due to the location of being on the top floor under the bar. We agreed to change rooms, but were only offered breakfast vouchers which we knew we wouldn't use. After we walked away my husband said he felt like the guy was a used car salesman and that we got played. We went back to the desk and dealt with another employee (Harry) and he switched us back to our original room and said that the room was not that loud.
Great bed, nice, modern room. Amazing location. Our room had a view of a brick wall, very disappointing. The room service was very poor and very expensive. Travel channel fans, don't come here expecting an amazing sandwich, it is no longer available.

Had horrible service from front desk woman and did not get the room I was assured I would the day before. The maid staff was very helpful and friendly as was the man who worked overnight desk. The room was small with barely any windows but very clean and bed was comfortable. Will never stay in this hotel or Hyatt again based on promise of getting a street view room and then getting a room that literally overlooked all the AC units for hotel and no view of street. Also, the room they assigned us was not ready when we were sent up so we had to get shuffled into another with a worse view. The desk clerk was rude about the whole situation and when we inquired about parking right out front because the signs were very confusing she told us to "read the signs". Seriously- as if we hadn't already. Very rude. Our friends stayed too and had poor service from same two woman.

The location is excellent in the heart of DC, walking distance to many sights. The HVAC unit in my room failed and I was moved to another room, which also had a faulty HVAC unit, so I was moved to a third room. All of this took place at 8pm, which ruined my plans for the evening. The next day, I was a bit disappointed that neither the manager nor anyone on staff reached out to follow up. Generally, I expect more personal service from Hyatt hotels.
The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were disorganized and food ran out too soon. The coffee canisters were not replaced when they ran out. The bathroom door stuck, the desk light did not work, and the handset for the telephone did not work. When the shakedown is over, all should be well.
Room was clean and pretty nice. Nice hotel bar and staff was friendly and helpful at the front desk. Would stay again for the price. The bellhop shattered a bottle of vodka that was in my suitcase....said "I should have told them it was fragil" I don't think that gives them the right to just throw my stuff around as if there was nothing of worth in there....what if it was a bottle of cologne that broke - would I have had to tell them it was fragile for something as small as that. After all my stuff was covered in vodka, they let me use their laundry services and actually ended up replacing the bottle with something of similar value. It ended up being okay and I was thankful for the replacement.
Hotel is walking distance to most of the things you want to see in DC; White House, Washington Monument, Smithsonian Museums. If you stay in a room facing 14th street you *will* hear street noise. We were on the 12th floor and you may as well be on the first floor because the height doesn't help with the noise at all. After a long day of walking you probably want a good night's sleep, that's probably not going to happen. Street traffic is loud and people tend to yell outside.

Blanket for fireworks was a nice unexpected treat. Quick walk to two different metro stations and 20 min walk to the mall. Blocks to restaurants and the cvs if you need something. It was hot. Not sure the hotel can control the weather.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean. Our shower head did not want to stay put. We booked online and I guess when doing so they like to give you the handicap accessible room. Parking was expensive! Breakfast was $60 for two people that will get you eggs and bacon.
Very convenient. The location is excellent for getting around town on the metro. It's just minutes from everything. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The bed was a little uncomfortable. I couldn't tell if the comforter was sliding down inside the duvet or it was just really thin.

Our hotel was in walking distance to almost everything that we wanted to see - all the major landmarks as well as museums. It is very close to two subway (metro) stations and only a short ride way from Union Station where we took the bus to NYC. We enjoyed the coffee maker in our room and refrigerator to keep our snacks. We appreciated free coffee stand in the lobby. it's more of a wish - wish you guys had free breakfast. Most hotels do nowadays.
