Just a few blocks from the museums, white house, etc. Only 40 feet from a CVS. Rooms were nice and clean. My Only complaint was that when asked about parking they told me they have a Valet. Afterwards a friend told me he parked himself for free. Not sure if they changed their rules or it was just poor communication. Either way i paid like 35$ extra each night.

The location is perfect for a family trip to visit Washington D.C. The staff was very helpful in directing us to various sites and helping us navigate the city. Our billing was not correct and it still isn't corrected. I have made two phone calls to the hotel to fix it and still have not had a return call. I will make another call today and hope to hear from them.
Staff was friendly. Gave upgrade to a giant suite when they were out of the room I'd booked since I had arrived late. The hotel was old and it was obvious that it was old.
Kitchen and dressing area... very unique! TV didn't work very well. The front desk didn't know all the routes and ways to get to the DULLES airport.
State Plaza provides nice, basic business-type lodging with good service.

BEDBUGS. I had to launder everything and throw away my luggage. very annoyed. have stayed here before but will not be going back.
A great location within walking distance of the State Dept., where I was attending a conference. Staff was helpful. Renovated room in the north tower was beautiful. Spacious, super clean, full kitchen, new bathroom and carpeting. Comfy bed. CVS and a liquor store adjacent. Need to upgrade cable to HD service. No restaurants or cafes nearby--at least I couldn't find any.
The staff were helpful and nice and the location was convenient. The kitchen is a nice convenience, but not needed for a short stay. The carpet in the room was dirty. There is no fan or window in the washroom so steam from the shower stays in the room, this causes humidity and mold. I'm allergic to mold so this was very uncomfortable. The hotel has two towers, and only one common washroom with one stall located in the other tower. If you have a late flight out you can store your suit cases but no place to change. The toiletries were advertised as designer. It was bath and body brand. The washroom was dirty, hair in the tub. I don't recommend the Hotel for physically challenged guests as there are steep stairs up to the elevator from the lobby. I had to struggle with the suitcases up the stairs. Beware that the hotel charges if there are more than 2 occupants in the room. This was not disclosed at booking. They also charge for incidentals at check in. I found this Hotel to be Overpriced for what you get. I stayed at the Marriott down the street last year, I payed about the same and had a much nicer room, pool, etc.

The hotel suite was very nice, clean and comfortable. The location was amazing, very quaint and charming neighbourhood only 5 min away from the subway, which made travelling to all parts of the city easy. The staff were very friendly but we noticed that the toiletries and towels were not replenished regularly during our stay, which was disappointing as it was not a cheap hotel. It was nice to have a kitchenette but the fridge was old and very loud, as was the AC unit, which was also very loud.
the room was very clean and we liked the location.The room was set up perfectly,it served all our needs. I don't want to sound cheap but the parking is expensive.If I plan to stay for a week that will add up to a costly expense.

An amazing location in DC very close to metro and G'town. A very modern hotel with an attractive lobby and quaint suites. While I did not have an opportunity to enjoy most of the services during my short stay, I trust they are well-maintained an equal to other parts of the hotel. I will definitely return.
Location and excellent value for money. Was unable to order room service one because they were too busy and one of the restaurant staff was very rude.

At midnight before the morning I was flying to DC I received an odd (non-customer-facing) zendesk email informing me that River Inn had overbooked and would not honor my reservation. We called (800.468.3578) and were told that I would be re-booked at 1 of 2 nearby hotels—and I would be informed which by email before 5:30 AM. No email arrived. I called the number again at 8:30 AM (as I boarded the plane and after sitting on hold was eventually assigned to Washington Circle. Customer service was very helpful but looking back on it, the system wasn't able to make their own promised deadlines, causing unnecessary anxiety. When I arrived at the new hotel, there was more trouble: the room they had booked was only available for one night and then I would have to move so they downgraded me to a room so I could stay for the duration. Oy vey!
Location The bed was too soft.
The hotel was two blocks to the Metro and two blocks to Trader Joe's for breakfast and snack supplies. The room was spacious and comfortable, and we will plan to visit again. Garbage truck at the back of hotel in the morning. Oh well.
we found the River Inn to be perfect for our needs. We have 3 young children and the room was suitable (+ cot) for us all. A metro station is only a couple of blocks away which made travel to the centre of D.C very easy. Would certainly recommend this hotel to others.
I absolutely love this hotel. The bed was so comfortable. The room was clean and nice The distance to the Metro was so convenient. The kitchen was so useful. We grabbed groceries at Trader Joe's up the block for breakfast every day. Parking. We ended up finding a parking garage up the block for $16 a day which was great.
Staff was VERY helpful, cheerful, and knowledgeable. The only problem was a dance competition that was held nearby. When the competitors arrived at 2:00am it was a bit noisy.
I really like the staff there and the fruits, candy and maps prepared for us. It's 15 minites walk to the white house. Location is beatiful and convinient. It was a little bit noisy at night because someone next door or above was talking. The noise cancelling was not that good.

To begin, the location is second to none. 2 minutes away from the metro. And all the main DC sites are within minutes using the metro. Staff was also great, every morning there was lemon water and apples available for guests to start their day. Ultimately, the place was amazing, no complaints from my side, very clean, very tidy, and comfortable.

We loved that the hotel was within walking distance to the Kennedy Center and the Mall. The staff was wonderful, but occasionally there would be a line at the desk so a second person would have been nice. Parking is done by a valet for $40 a day. They went out of their way to make it convenient for us especially when we were in a hurry. One of the desk staff actually walked us to the Metro stop when we asked how to get there. How much better can it get! I would have liked it if they had a restaurant, even a small one, on site. Breakfast would be awesome but I'm not sure they have the room. The hallways were badly overheated and the room was too so we actually opened the window at night to be comfortable.

The facilities, furniture, and furnishings are a bit older, but you get room to spread out in, the location is excellent, and the price is relatively inexpensive. It was great for a group visiting DC to explore all the wonderful sights to see. We had absolutely no complaints!
The rooms were a very good size, had separate living and sleeping space, and a kitchenette. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The best part was it's proximity to the Foggy Bottom metro stop, which put all of DC within reach. Otherwise it's only about a 20 minute walk to reach the monuments at the end of the mall. Parking costs extra, and street parking Is near impossible
The best part of this hotel is the location. With children at GWU, it's the perfect place to stay to be close to campus, restaurants, and other Washington adventures. The beds and pillows were comfy. I didn't care for the smell of smoke coming in to the bathroom through the fan that ran constantly or tj e broken dial on the heat lamp in the bathroom so that it did not turn off automatically, I asked the gentleman at the front desk about dirty drips on the bathroom floor, the big smear on the bathroom wallpaperor. He said the housekeeping manager was there at the time and he would send her up. No one showed up before I checked out the following day. The 6" x 9" steam/burn on the carpet in the bedroom was also a big eyesore. I also didn't like being evacuated by a false fire alarm at 7 AM.
We all enjoyed staying at the hotel. The location was convenient and the reception area personnel were very accomodating. We all felt that the breakfast was too expensive, for what was offered. Also, the service was awful.
The location was ideal. Short walking distance to the Kennedy Center, restaurants along the Potomiac River, and the Mall.
Valent parking, warm cookies upon check-in, coffee/tea and fresh fruit available for breakfastin lobby There should have been tea in th room,not just coffee. Also there was no sugar

Close to metro. They tried to accomodate my request of having a quiet room, away from the elevator. Overall, staff was friendly. Thin walls, could hear everything going on in the adjoining room. Only one elevator of the two worked, though the staff tried to tell me otherwise when I asked (I had been there for 4 days by then and waited several minutes each time for the ONE elevator door to open). I tried to print my boarding pass in the business center, only to find out that the other computer was the only one which would print- why wasn't there a sign telling users this? I finally gave up after 10 more minutes of trying to print, as their internet was painfully slow. Not close to many restaurants unless you don't mind a 15 minute walk to the riverfront.
