Pros: "I was moved up to comfort instead of main cabin."
Cons: "The wifi didn’t seem to be working on the flight even tho it said it was equipped."
Pros: "Crew was awesome!"
Cons: "The boarding did not go on time. An announcement about why would have been nice. Still made it on the flight on time."
Pros: "Same crew and great experiments again"
Pros: "Felt very clean and so glad they are not selling every seat"
Pros: "It was all good glad the last leg of the trip was pleasant."
Pros: "Airplane accelerated from stand-by directly to runway without preparation stop. Awesome!"
Pros: "Nice crew"
Cons: "No leg room for 6’6” person."
Cons: "Small plane, feels cramped"
Pros: "Crew was friendly"
Cons: "The boarding process was rough and haphazard"
Pros: "The crew did their best to deal with delay."
Cons: "There was an absolutely awful job done by both Delta and Kayak of informing us if additional delays, new gate assignments, when the plane would be reboarded. Also, people were quite angry that the plane had to be cleaned between the time we got off and the time we reboarded. Just get us home."
Pros: "The fight was very professionally carried out."
Cons: "The gate agent hurried ineffectively to board our slightly delayed flight (around 10 min). She left open the Priority Lane and boarded all pax there, having to step 4 steps to the left to scan every boarding pass."
Pros: "It was ok"
Cons: "Seat the family together"
Pros: "The crew and the comfort plus seat"
Cons: "Announcements were too loud in earphones (could damage ear drums) and entertainment was turned off while waiting 30 min for the gate to open."
Cons: "Taxied at ORD for 45 minutes waiting for a gate to vacate."
Cons: "Smooth on time flight"
Pros: "The crew really kept us updated on the many delays."
Cons: "There were SO many delays and they kept changing. At one point we got on and off the plane."
Pros: "Everything was good except boarding was delayed several times and even after everyone had boarded. We arrived 2 hours behind originally scheduled time as the result."
Cons: "Delta needs to try harder to minimize flight delays."
Pros: "The seats were ok."
Cons: "The flight was delayed over 3 hours so I missed my connection in Chicago to Seattle. I’m now stick in Chicago overnight and have to be on a 6 am flight tomorrow. The Delta staff at LaGuaurdia was extremely rude and not helpful at all. Hate Delta......"
Pros: "Flight left on time"
Cons: "Gate crew had trouble identyfing boarding pass on their computer. Difficulty getting on plane"
Pros: "Fast boarding, friendly crew, and comfy seats"
Cons: "It was pretty bumpy and a few times we changed altitude very quickly"
Pros: "On time/ early arrival!"
Cons: "Most bring on 2 large carry ons slowing down boarding an de- planeing."
Cons: "Plane journey awful. Speaker had a loud buzzing noise all the time so never heard a word bad landing. Rattling plane Very cold."
Pros: "Clean plane, the seat felt roomy. Smooth ride and the captain communicated clearly."
Cons: "It felt super hot and I wish there was food included in such a long flight."
Pros: "Quick flight"
Cons: "Flight attendant spoke like a robot. Could not understand her."
Pros: "Staff, service, options"
Pros: "As usual great staff and awesome entertainment/connectivity"
Cons: "Due to weather & maintenance flight was delayed for IFR release & fuel temperature gauge issues. Staff was very helpful. Would have appreciated a drink voucher. Some unprofessional passengers took their frustrations out on the flight attendants."
Cons: "Over an hour delay before boarding due to supposedly bad weather. Because flight was overbooked they were offering $400 gift card to change to standby on another flight. If you didn’t make that flight (evening), you’d be confirmed on a flight the following morning with one stop in Detroit (we booked a nonstop to Chicago). Uh, no thanks. Then to top it off, we’ve landed and been told that it will be at least an hour before we can deplane due to no availability at the gate (it’s 1145 pm right now). All this plus their new policy of not allowing us to select our seats because we bought the cheapest tickets. Really Delta? You go ahead and cater to the rich and I’ll choose to fly with another airline."
Pros: "Crew friendly"
Cons: "Middle seat with no option for me to move"
Pros: "Flight attendants were pleasant."
Pros: "The crew was great"
Cons: "The flight was 4 hours delayed"
Pros: "I flew on a basic economy fare (I understand the restrictions) and was seated in Economy Comfort +, so that was appreciated."
Cons: "I could see on the Fly Delta app that I had been placed in seat 10B, but neither the app nor my boarding pass gave me a group to board with, so I assumed that I needed to board with group 3, which necessitated gate-checking my rollerboard bag. Only when I approached the gate to board did I notice on the info screen that I had been "upgraded" to Comfort + and granted boarding with the Sky Priority group. I wish this had been clearer so I could have avoided waiting to board and gate-checking my bag. Minor inconvenience but room for improvement on Delta's part."
Pros: "Friendly staff and comfortable seating"
Pros: "This was not my original transfer flight but everyone was much nicer and helpful than serious and being rude. Love Delta, I did not flight United because I wouldn’t have met my United flight once landing in ATL. The Young African American woman who was at the gate was amazing and so reassuring that I would make my flight to Chicago. Would book Delta, just because of how nice she was to me."
Pros: "i liked that staff and crew were very communicative and pleasant."
Cons: "one crew member didn't show up and caused delayed flight."
Pros: "Flight was on time. Boarded quickly with no fuss."
Cons: "Too tight and seats not comfortable."
Pros: "The Delta people were solicitous, efficient and brilliant the whole way through. We had not a bit of trouble. Our first class seats were comfortable, but with the supplied blanket, pillow and poor air conditioning it was a hot flight. The cabin personnel were wonderful as per usual, and my tasty gin and tonic soothed any discontent. I wish I could fly this way all the time!"
Cons: "The private contractor handling wheelchair assistance was terrible. A Delta employee theorized that they do not pay enough to attract and retain personnel. Our pre-arranged chair was not there, multiple calls by our Delta assistant finally got us a ride to the chair holding area, but after about 45 minutes we gave up and shuffled off to the security area on foot. Thank goodness my hubby is mobile enough for that to have been an option. When we abandoned our wait we were still 4th in line for an attendant to push the chair. If Delta has any responsibility in this it would be in the retention and compensation for the private contractor."
Cons: "The delta studio didn't work with Android 8"
Pros: "Ease of flight"
Pros: "Plane arrived early"
Cons: "They board the front of the plane first, meaning the aisles get clogged up slowing down the process. Also, staff kept insisting pre boarding that more people needed to check their bags because there wasn't enough overhead bin space, but there were plenty of bins not full by take off."
Pros: "Accident on way to airport, so I showed up to check bags 45 minutes before flight time. They said they couldn't get the bag to the plane..in 45 minutes? So, they put on the next flight... 6 hours later. Said I could fly without the bag... uh, no thanks. They would not look for alternatives without charging me more. Flight attendants were crabby, otherwise everything was fine. I flew British Airways a few months ago. Night and day. Seriously. Delta does not even approach having good service. There was no comparison to British Air--- Delta is not in the same league."
Pros: "Airline stewards were very friendly and pleasant."
Cons: "We booked with Delta, but were put on Air France. Even though we had our boarding passes in hand we had to wait in long, slow line for baggage tags because they would not print from kiosk. There was minimal Air France staff on duty serving thousands of passengers during busy season (July). While the lines grew larger, the staff was reduced from 4 to 2. Another long, slow line for customs, another long slow line for security=Charles De Gaulle airport was awful. We arrived at the airport 4 hours before our departure time and got to our boarding gate with no time to spare."
Cons: "Very uncomfortable, seats did not recline and seats way too close together."
Pros: "Entertainment options weren't bad. Most of the crew was polite other than one flight attendant who seemed ambivalent and unhappy to be there."
Cons: "Three hour+ flight and just one tiny bag of pretzels? And no lemon or lime wedges on the beverage cart? Plus, I have to pay extra for one checked bag. I will only fly Delta if I have to in the future. Subpar airline."
Pros: "What I liked: Sky Priority privilege came with separate luggage check-in queues and early boarding"
Cons: "What I disliked: Seats were too small No beverages or snacks offered No USB or power outlets available Three different groups board before Delta Comfort (e.g. those needing more time, travelers with children, first/business class) Didn't see the value compared to a less expensive main cabin ticket"
Cons: "Unnecessary flight cancellation. I had friends taking the same flight at the same time at the same airport from different airlines and they came through for their customers. I received no consolation it assistance with overnight accommodations."
Pros: "That they had TV in flight"
Pros: "The gate counter gentleman was fantastic. I was seated at the window and I had lost my compression socks on the flight just a couple days before so I wanted to be able to get up and stand without climbing over a passenger. Since I am over 60 years of age, I asked if there was an opportunity in the very back to have an empty seat next to me. Me did find me one and I TOTALLY appreciated it. I used to have the status to have the better seats and it was hard to lose that...this was wonderful. Thanks for making me feel valued."
Cons: "The communication while we were awaiting the delay due to thunderstorm. We did get 2 updates, but I feel over communication better than under ;)"
Pros: "Customer service started from the gate agent. Both ladies were very helpful and extremely patient. They had a good community of work. Morning was efficient. The flight crew was very helpful. The gentleman and the young women were always smiling and checking in on customer service started from the gate agents. Both ladies were very helpful and extremely patient. They had a good community of work. Morning was efficient. The flight crew was very helpful. The gentleman and young woman were always smiling and checking in on us the passengers."
Pros: "Non stop. Easy boarding and de-planing. Good food"
Cons: "I am claustrophobic and the only opportunity I had to select a seat was when I checked in 24 hrs before the flight. The only aisle seat left was in the back row of the plane. Between the person in front of me fully reclining their seat and my inability to fully recline my own seat (airplane design) and with pepole standing in the aisles waiting for the toilets - I was very uncomfortable for most of the flight. United also had problems with their entertainment system so for an 8 hour long flight, there was much room for improvement."
Cons: "Like so many others, my flight was delayed. This was due to the scheduled pilot calling in."
Cons: "To whom it may concern I had booked flight from Casablanca to Chicago via Frankfurt , on May 6th , by Lufthansa, two hours before the flight , at the counter in CMN , they notified me , that the flight , is over booked , and I can’t catch this flight , and they offered me different difficult options, , till the flight boarded , they offered me one of the most inconvenient flights , and reward me some amount , in this case : I missed my flight which accordingly , lose my appointment , and lose my business. I frustrated with this decision at late hours . I asked full consideration of all the difficulty situation and the turbles they put me ."
Pros: "The staff were super attentive, they kept walking down the aisle with cups of water and interacted with the passengers throughout the flight. The crew seemed to work very well together, I could sense a great harmony between them that really put all of us passengers at ease. I am quick to complain about US carriers and have had some awful experiences flying US airline companies, so feel the need to really compliment this crew. If other United flights are like this, I will definitely fly them again."
Pros: "The flight length and capacity was fine. Crew was nice enough."
Cons: "The plane was outdated, the entertainment was a screen smaller than my phone and had only set movies or shows that played in repeat. Apparently you could download their app and watch other stuff but we weren't informed of that at all while waiting to board which would have been sensible (when there was Wi-Fi access). For a long flight, that would have been nice. They also made a big scene about the bathrooms, apparently us in economy didn't pay enough to use the bathrooms in front of the thin blue curtain that wasn't really closed. It was a bit weird, they're just crappy bathrooms regardless of where they are on the plane."
Cons: "I had to print out my own labels for my bags. No one told me this . Mind you, I was already in line! I had to go print label. Get in line again. Attendant said I need to put the label on myself. And for me to step aside. I was not gonna get out of line again. No one was there to let customers know of this labeling. People were confused! Then I paid $25 online for my luggage. Then my luggage was over 50 pounds. I was charged $100. So I paid $125 for my luggage. Lax TSA Employees are rude and mean. Yelling do this and do that. Like we prisoners. I will never fly United again. I will let everyone know of my experience. Terrible customer service. Then your screens don't work on your airplane. Cannot watch movies. Therefore your plane is not up to par. But I paid up to $700! Never again. Good luck United."
Cons: "The “entertainment” system was more like a “frustration” system. The wi-fi was painfully slow. I had to use a different browser. Then download software. Then close a separate browser. Then download more software. At each step, I would scroll through an entire list of movies (painstakingly slowly) to get to the one I wanted, only to find that I needed to do yet another slow process before I could proceed. Finally, after 30 minutes of effort, I was watching my movie! And then 10 minutes into it, it cut off and I could not re-open it. Thanks for wasting my time and killing my soul with this “entertainment.”"
Pros: "I typically dont fly with united, and this was a typical experience, staff was not friendly, terminal and gate change at last minute after I walking all the way to the gate, then another delay after we were boarded, now this was more airport related then United, but after they told us it was a 45min delay someone asked if we can use our phone or computer and the answer was a stern no with no explanation until someone got really upset, just not a professional experience, and this was why I don't fly united. But I had no choice this time."
Pros: "Excellent flight"
Cons: "At check in time being told I needed a eta visa to enter Canada!"
Pros: "It got us from a to b but not much more to be said!"
Cons: "The idea of the entertainment system broadcast to your hand held device is fine - it didn't work for me though."
Pros: "The price of a ticket is slightly lower. It is not enough of a difference to make the plethora of inconveniences worth it. You are not a valued customer with this fare. If United values customers, they shouldn't offer this fare. That's why I don't fly the bargain airlines."
Cons: "You can't check in at the kiosk on basic economy without an employee badge swipe, and there were no employees available. I had to stop checking in, wait in line, and then the employee that I talked to didn't have the right kind of badge to swipe. So I waited again. Extremely inconvenient. Even after being forced to talk to a ticket agent at check in, they still won't issue a seat. So you have to go to the gate and wait in line again to get a seat. The system is built for maximum inefficiency. It doesn't cost less for them to make me talk to two separate people, it is only to inconvenience the flyer for buying a cheaper ticket. It seems like a punitive system. Boarding was organized and painless. The crew seemed polite. Regarding comfort, the "leg room" on the airbus is ridiculous. I am average height and felt claustrophobic. I can't imagine how a tall person feels. There was no " entertainment" on my flight, so one star for that. I didn't not receive any food and was not offered water, 1 star."
Pros: "First through all the issues I will say that the staff was nice and helped us the best they could to fix what went wrong. Except one thing..."
Cons: "The flight to Chicago got delayed due to weather (not Uniteds fault), then got stuck in Sioux Falls due to need for gas (also not Uniteds fault), but when we finally got to Chicago and got told we couldn't continue on to our destination for two days United refused to get us a hotel room. They said that since no one had entered the mechanical failure that made us stay in Sioux Falls (also not Uniteds fault) that they couldn't give us rooms at a hotel. What a crock. We ended up having to borrow money from my in laws to be able to afford a hotel room for 2 days."
Cons: "We didn't have seats assigned and the gate attendent didn't take the time to tell any of the 20 of us waiting for 15-20 mins to speak to a gate agent what was going on until AFTER she boarded the rest of the plane. When asked what was going on she responded "excuse me, I'll get to you when I get to you and thanks for your 'non attitude'" to the woman who asked her if she had any plans to greet us or even ackwnowledge us. Then the flight attendants became flustered as they realized they separated a 5 year old child and his father and sat the child in the emergency seat. When several of us attempted to help they were rude so when I put my headphones in to pass the time and didn't hear the woman ask if I was willing to sit in the emergency isle she snidely said "there's always one millenial not paying attention." Ummm.... I had my eyes closed and was listening to my music since they clearly wanted us to mind our own business and NOT try to help the father (meanwhile all of us strangers were trying to figure out how to rearrange in order to help). The only reason entertainment gets a 2 is bc I had good conversation with the passenger next to me, not because of anything United did. Really unbelievable that they continue to operate this way and treat PAYING customers like this. It's sad actually."
Pros: "That I didn't have to walk to Fargo. I wasn't dragged off a plane."
Cons: "3 flights to Fargo were cancelled. I was told I would not get to Fargo until 32 hours after my original time I was suppose to land in Fargo. After spending a fair amount of time on the phone with customer service I was able to get me on a Flight to Minneapolis that did not arrive till 1:30am then had to take a rental car to drive 3.5 hours to make it to my destination. I was not compensated for any of this. My return flight from Fargo to St. Louis was also Delayed. Both from Fargo and from Chicago. I have never experienced such poor scheduling from an airline or as many delays or cancelled flights in just a few day period."
Cons: "I don't fully understand why, but I was unable to get my boarding pass for my flight to Chicago from Toronto until I arrived in the Toronto airport. Toronto airport sequesters off international arrivals, so in an ideal world, I would have been able to go through security directly to into the U.S. terminal, bypassing Canada customs. However, the United desk that I needed to get my boarding pass from located just before security was unmanned. The very kind Air Canada attendant called for a representative multiple times, but after 45 minutes of waiting no one ever arrived to print my boarding pass for me. The Air Canada employee then gave up on any United staff showing up and suggested I try going through Canadian customs and checking in at the same departure desk travelers first entering the airport would go through and make sure to let them know how long I was waiting. The United employee I spoke with told me that I was impatient and should have continued waiting because now she didn't know what would happen with my checked bag and that I may well need to wait 2 hours more for that to get sorted out. I was rather surprised by her overly negative response and apparent threat. If I was irate or yelling that might have been warranted, but frankly, I was so tired from the international travel I didn't have the energy to fight with her. Regardless, I wish I had been more impatient, it was far easier to go through customs twice than I expected. I would have preferred to spend more time in the lounge inside the terminal than to stand by the United desk waiting for someone to arrive to print my boarding pass. At any rate, Canadian+US customs have it together; when I went through U.S. customs to get into the terminal they had the photo of my checked bag right there."
Pros: "I am slow walking due to health issues. Coming from Kansas City to Chicago was a problem. My daughter who was with me is physically handicapped. There was no transportation to assist us to get from one terminal to another one when we arrived. Thank goodness we had a two and one-half hour overlay. Going home was a different story. Two wonderful gentleman met us as we disembarked and speedily got us to our flight. We only had 30 minutes and they made sure we were there. Issac and the other man are to be commended!"
Cons: "The fact that no one was there to assist us with transportation."
Pros: "Relatively, on time."
Cons: "The seats were hardest, most uncomfortable airline seats yet. No padding whatso ever. They now have 4 boarding classes plus the 'special' folks. If you drag your bag to the gate , which slows down boarding, you get it checked for free, if you check it yourself at the counter you get to pay 25$ ... Since older people generally do not want to be carrying luggage up the 'stairs and through the Chicago airport', it means they get to pay extra! I think it is age discrimination that all the airlines are doing. Only the young can fly the cheapest."
Pros: "Staff nice and seat was comfortable."
Cons: "The computers were down in SJC so everyone was waiting in line to check in and drop off luggage. It was a very long and slow process, but staff were friendly and professional even with difficult passengers. The thing that bugged me was they kept telling us not to worry and that the flight would be delayed so that we all could make it. I was the last one on the plane and I know there had to be at least 10 that didn't make it in time. I think the flight was only delayed by like 15min or so. I don't think they should tell people not to worry because the plane will wait for them, when it didn't wait for all. I get it that you want to also please those in the plane already and those waiting at destination so I'm not upset. Just giving feedback."
Pros: "We didn't crash?"
Cons: "After much concerns and inquiries made bag did NOT make the plane! There is as no one to h love me to n white Planes for 45 minutes! No one at the counter? Wow! Finally supervisor Jill was able to track it down in Chicago where th y took it off the he plane as my carry on because they had no room l ft from the h limited space. After working very hard to get my bag of o White Plains that evening, supervisor Jill hung out an hour past her shift ended to get it on the last transport to my hotel. The transport blew herself by ft and never showed up or called the o say he wasn't coming back! I got my bag on he next morning just in tim for my event! I also was not credited my frequent flyer miles. Some glitch in the system. Overall I must rate my experience as a one star simply because the pilots got us there safely."
Pros: "The flight attendants were nice. Other than that, nothing."
Cons: "Maybe it's because I haven't flown in a few years but it seems that the airlines are packing in as many seats as they can, without regard to the passengers who are shoved into tiny seats for 5+ hours without even being able to stretch their legs. We were in the last row where you can't even lean your seat back but the guy in front of me was just about in my lap the whole flight. Charging for in flight entertainment and meals also seems like the airlines care less for customer satisfaction than the money they can get from passangers. While boarding, we were stopped in first class because the flight attendant was in the aisle getting drinks for first class...Before all the passengers boarded. Also, why is every flight told they get one carry on plus a personal item when that isn't really the case? If the flight is full, apparently there is not enough room for each passanger to have a carry on so people who have delicate items packed in their carry ons have to surrender them and pray their precious vacation purchases aren't smashed when they get their luggage back. Quantity over quality."
Cons: "That a bunch of travelers including myself missed our connecting flight in Chicago after united chamged our arrival gate but didn't have any crew to man the jet way. We sat for 20 mins right in front of our gate. From 1 pm to 10 on my flight to Asheville from Chicago was delayed many many times waiting for our airplane to arrive. Upsetting that we missed our connection due to United's poor planning, they didn't hold our connecting flight for us but we had to wait all night for other flights."
Pros: "I fly weekly, but try never to book United because there are always issues with my support animal. Without fail, regardless of the city, the agents at check-in do not know what to do. Each time I'm met with annoyance at having to check me in, and I usually end up calling either the disabilities desk and handing the agent my phone, or asking for the CRO. I have to leave an extra 45 minutes to accommodate flying United every time -- ridiculous. This time I also got a load of unprofessional gate agents cooing and awwing at my my support animal, and trying to pet him. When this happens I always simply state, "please don't" and this was key with rudeness as well. United please provide us with more professional and adequately trained staff at the airports. Once we're on the planes it's fine. But you seem to have VERY low hiring standards for airport staff"
Pros: "The pilot continued to interrupt our flight home. Watching movies, 4-5 hours his overrides of loud, loud announcement were useless. Trying to take a nap, dark, early evening. We at 29,000 feet, we're ahead of schedule, we are going to arrive 30 minutes early. Then we arrive early sit on the tarmac, because guess what was at our gate; ANOTHER AIRPLANE! All his rushing and interruption were a waste. The ground team had him wait 200 feet away from the gate for another period of time. We arrived three to five minutes early, at 7:30 PM. Very unpleasant flight."
Pros: "I traveled on a weekend during which I experienced numerous flight cancellations and was stuck for a couple of days on two separate nights. I flew United and American that weekend. United Airlines staff was the most empathic and apologetic to.me, even though they had no control over the weather. I didn't expect any accommodations for all of the changes...just a little understanding...and that's what they gave to me. I did let AA know how disappointed I was in them just for their lack of compassion. Thanks"
Pros: "Flight left and arrived on time. Good service on board."
Cons: "For boarding at the gate, attendant scanned boarding passes at one terminal and asked passengers to board next to another terminal across the room. Anyone could have walked onto the plane without a boarding pass, which seems to be a security concern. It felt as if I was seated over the rear wheels of the plane. During taxi and takeoff, there was an irregular bump that made a noise and vibrated the plane every second or so, and sped up as the plane sped up. I was concerned that something was the matter with the tire or wheel."
Pros: "The trip TO the United States was bearable."
Cons: "This flight was a complete disaster. I ended up b=on a different flight to Newark, as my flight to Chicago got canceled. Then that fight was unable to land, so I spent hours in baltimore, and missed my connecting flight to Brussels. By the time I finally arrived, 4 hours late, to Newark, I had to spend 2 hours in a line to get re-book, for a flight the next night. I was compensated for all this mess with a $10 food voucher, and had to get a cab from the airport to the closest and cheapest hotel. My flight to Brussels was uneventful, save one rude flight attendant, and I got to school a day late."
Pros: "The food was delicious."
Cons: "The in-seat TV had one channel that was blacked out initially but eventually was viewable, and one channel that worked fine at first but then blacked out for the rest of the flight. As far as options for an 8.5 hour flight? Very poor. 5 movies, 2 of which were multiple years old. The reclining seat seemed over-exaggerated; I had never been on a flight where the seat in front of me came so close to my face. The boarding process was pretty good and streamlined but we still took off about an hour late."
Pros: "The crew was very nice and helped out as often as they could."
Cons: "The seats were horribly uncomfortable - my boyfriend and are not wide people but tall. Our knees touched the seat backs in front of us and it was not forgiving at all. The que for boarding was one of the worst that I've ever seen. People would line up for their boarding group way in advance, creating long lines throughout the main area of the terminal, hindering other people trying to get where they needed to go. Not only that, but it took FOREVER. Thank goodness the pilots made good time or else we would have been behind. I doubt I'll fly United again... I guess if I have to, but it will be something I dread."
Pros: "We ended up with the exit row seats - awesome, especially for my 6'6" husband."
Cons: "We each had one bag- a backpack for him and an incredibly small roll bag for me. We were told we absolutely had to check the roll bag as space was limited. There were 3 off duty flight attendants sitting next to me and each had 2 large bags. Multiple other people had multiple oversized bags they were allowed to carry on. This infuriates me. I brought one bag, and a smaller than regulation one at that and I had to check it because other people were allowed to bring multiple bags. If you know a flight will be a tight squeeZe, limit people to one bag each."
Pros: "Nothing really"
Cons: "A/C was not working and hot air was blowing so the whole flight felt like we were in a sauna. Everyone was sweating, children crying. Called the flight attendant and no explanation other than "we know" but sounded more like "not our problem, deal with it". They should stop saying "let us know if there is anything we can do to make you comfortable". Meaningless. United and most US airlines really need to take a step back and figure out what's there vision of service. Most of them are in deep trouble, you can tell by how dissatisfied most of their employees are. How about bringing some top notch foreign airlines to compete?"
Cons: "Nobody told us the flight operated by United Airline was cancelled, until we found it when we checked in a night before. We had to make international calls to reschedule it. Our original was a direct flight from MUC to ORD at noon, we had fly to FRT first at 10am. It would be a very mess if we checked in at airport next day. Who would be responsible for the situation if the trip was operated by two airlines like UA and Lufthansa? Certainly not customers. Since the change, we had to cancel some our plan and spent three more hours on the return trip."
Cons: "I had the unfortinate luck in getting the seat at the very rear of the plane. It was a red-eye flight and i was really hoping to get some sleep because i knew i was going to have an 8hr layover in Chicago. No such luck on the sleep because the flight attendants were so rude, they were talking very loudly and very vulgar yhe entire trip. I know i wasn't the only one upset because everyone around me was trying to sleep and couldn't. We just kept looking at each other like "really? Come on people!" and it wasn't till about halfway during the flight that they came over the intercom telling how to turn off the tv's on the back of the seats. It took the person sitting next to me to use the flashlight on his phone to be able to find the right button on the arm of the chair. After the experience i had, i will never fly United again."
Cons: "My flight was cancelled they never told me , and after I explained to them I bought this ticket two hours ago because my grandmother and uncle were dying and I needed to get there, they lied to me told me I would be on a different flight and still get there at the same time. Well my flight was not the same time it was three hours different and if I made it there like they promised the first time I would have been able to kiss my grandma one last time. She died a hour before I got there. And now I'm fighting with them for a refund."
Pros: "Nothing much"
Cons: "Your refund or rescheduling policies."
Cons: "No free wifi. No free entertainment. Smaller than a kids small fruit snack bag of trail mix for a 4+ hour flight. Gate issues delaying our boarding-resulting in late take off.- and delayed transit home to last available route of the night- thank goodness!"
Cons: "The crew knew multiple people on the Hayden to Denver flights had very limited wait time to get from plane to terminal, but took forever in delivering our luggage for plane side pick up. When I asked the lady who came by to let us know of our gates, she pretty much told me, 'good luck'. I picked up my bag with 10 mins to spare to run from gate 86? to 24. I think more should have been done to accommodate. To be fair, the other lady who came by to let us know of our gates, offered to call my terminal and let them know I was on the way"
Cons: "My connecting flight from Chicago to Madison was cancelled with no explanation and no other alternatives provided, other than to get a hotel in Chicago and try to catch a flight to Madison the next day. United said they would not cover the cost of transportation to a hotel or the cost of the hotel. In addition, my luggage was misplaced and sent to Madison and could not be located. The number United provided to me to check on the whereabouts of my bag no one ever answered, even though I called multiple, multiple times."
Cons: "United delayed the flight. This information became available about an hour in advance- well after we drove two hours (We live in Montana) to get to the airport. The attendants said / not our problem. I called United's Customer Service number to discuss ways of mediating the delay that resulted in us missing the wedding venue and entire reason we booked the $1400 flight. I again got a "not my problem" response- no the flights can be modified, no we will not provide vouchers, no we really don't care that our poor quality and service cost you and your family tremendously in time, effort, and lost memories. I know we are at the mercy of airlines, but what a painful disappointment. My experience with Delta has been better and I suggest avoiding United Airlines if other flight options exist.... Even consider a very long drive over the use of the airline."
Pros: "Here's the situation- There are massive storms across the state, massive delays across the nation, and a tiny airport packed full of people. All the things needed to make a horrible flying day an even worse day for customer service. BUT the flight crew and terminal teams did an amazing job keeping things together and keeping guests happy. They communicated all the information they knew in a timely manner, and made sure to correct any connections that needed to be processed before the plan landed. Also they kept their calm as people flipped out."
Cons: "I didn't lol the size of the white planes airport. That plan could hold about 150 people at best.... There was at least 600"
Pros: "The flight attendant gave me the whole can of bloody mary mix tomato juice. The captain got a wheelchair to come for me. Flight price was good! Skycaps were great!!"
Cons: "I am disabled so its hard enough dealing with small bathrooms, but to then find FILTHY TOILETS! Both toilets/bathrooms in economy were disgusting! There was pee or poop or menstrual blood on one of the toilet seats and just pee all over the other seat. I went into one toilet and came back out to go to the other one. I told the flight attendant and he just shrugged his shoulders and went back to eating his bagel. I had to clean off the seat! Peanut mix is not enough each passenger should get 2 packages. The flight attendants were not careful when steering that drink server thing and hit several people with it moving down the aisle. My wheelchair was not there when we landed and i had to wait for it. The seats in the back of the plane seem like the cushion is high in the back so you feel like you're almost standing! Not enough room between video screen and my face. Shouldnt have to pay for entertainment."
Pros: "Crew and workers were all pleasant and polite"
Cons: "United knows they can't fly into Orange County after curfew. This was handled terrible. After 4 delays. All weather related we were finally boarded. Yay hope. Not even to our destination. Boarded to LAX. Now we are seated. The announcement pilots won't fly. No. It is illegal for them to fly. Why not tell customers. Don't blame pilots. Also you know the rules why board us. Even if we flew we still needed a two hour ride to SNA. It was sheer luck I called and was told another flight leaving in 8 min at gate 14 ten gates away. My running to catch that flight was not good. I made it panting. Arrived in LAX at 2:00 a m Not my destination. If nothing else people should be compensated by United don't you think?"
Cons: "have been stranded by Air Canada in Toronto en route to Tel Aviv for what will be at least two nights. Let me preface this by saying that I travel regularly and have never experienced anything like what has transpired over the last 36+ hours. I've been unable to get to my work and unable to return home to my two young children, stuck in international limbo. The thing that really galls about my whole experience, though, has been that the actions as well as tenor of the interactions with almost every single Air Canada customer service representative has been deplorable. No one has even apologized for the inconvenience, let alone taken ownership of the situation to fix it. My experience as a customer has been reprehensible. I was scheduled to travel from Los Angeles to Tel Aviv through Chicago and then Toronto. The problems started in Chicago. My layover in Toronto was scheduled to be brief and I became concerned when the flight in Chicago did not board on time and no information was given. Some time later (maybe 20 minutes, although, to be honest, I was not concerned enough at that point to be checking) we were told there were maintenance problems. I immediately went to the counter and asked about other possible routes to Tel Aviv as it was clear that I would not make my connection. While missed connections happen all the time in travel, I have never encountered airline personnel who were so disinterested in helping. My immediate stop was the Air Canada service desk. The man there started to look for solutions and then passed it off to someone else as he got frustrated that it was not a simple route. She in turn asked if I could find someone else to help. But this was the service desk! So she begrudgingly went back to it. She put me to the side to help other passengers and told me to go get food and not to hover. I stood to the side and checked back and she had not come back to the task. Neither had the man I first worked with. By this point well over an hour had elapsed and they conceded to help as another family in the same position came up and also asked for assistance. They began trying to reroute us and then the flight cleared and we were able to board. We did not want to but they told us that there would be someone waiting at the jet bridge to expedite the connection to Tel Aviv and that we had made it just in time. We did not trust him and said so and he assured us that they would hold the plane for our flight. This did not happen. The Air Canada agent flatly lied to us. There was no one waiting to help get us to the gate. They did not hold the plane. I ran through the Toronto airport at sprint speed and left the other family to try to hold the plane for us all. They had already given away my seat despite my having checked in, paid for an extra legroom exit seat, and begun travel on the original itinerary. Thus did I miss the flight to Tel Aviv."
Cons: "I am almost always cold. Not so on this flight. The temperature on the plane was so miserably hot that I had sweat pouring down my face. Everyone around me was trying to open their air vents to get more cool air and/or fanning themselves. I asked the flight attendant about it and he said that the plane was just old and it would cool off eventually. It did, about 20 minutes before they cut the air down again for landing. By the time I got off the plane I was nauseated from the heat and stale air. It will be a long time before I fly United again if this is any indication of the condition of their planes."
Pros: "Everything about this United flight was amazing. The crew was friendly and the plane was new and in beautiful condition. It was a smooth ride. My only complaint is that we flew a red eye, departing SFO at 10:50pm arriving at ORD at 5am and the seats were so hard and uncomfortable it was impossible to sleep, which made our busy first day in Illinois quite miserable. I'm not the kind of person who is generally picky about seats or how comfortable cars and things are, but these seats were so bad it really was pretty miserable and it effected the quality of our trip since we were only in Illinois for two days before our return flight. We would be hesitant to fly United again due to the seat quality. I would not be as hesitant for shorter flights or daytime flights, never again on the red eye though."
Pros: "The flight never took place, and I was never notified - not by United, not by Kayak, not by anyone. I called Customer Service on March 31 when I was notified the flight from Marrakech was rerouted to Liege, Belgium and was told to take a bus to Brussels. When I got to Liege, I was boarding a bus to Brussels when someone told me the airport was closed. I then got my flights rebooked on Lufthansa. Why was I never notified that the United flight was cancelled? I haven't checked on it yet, as I just got home after flying 3 flights from Liege instead of 1 flight from Brussels. I understand the situation is bad, but why NO NOTIFICATION?"
Cons: "No communication - very wierd"
Cons: "Due to the frequent gate change updates from Kayak we ended up at the wrong terminal. Because of this we were late for our flight which they would not let us get boarding passes for so they bumped us to a flight 2 hrs later. After getting through security we realized the original flight was delayed. We asked the airline if we could get back on that flight and we were rudely told no without a good reason. So we sat for what ended up being and hour looking at the plane we "missed" before it took off. No using United again."
Pros: "Crew was fantastic, went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction with every aspect of my flight."
Cons: "My vehicle keys were removed from my checked luggage requiring to pay extensively to have a locksmith come to the airport the next day to create new keys. I slept in the parking lot due to the fact the locksmith could only open the doors and could not cut new electronic keys until morning. I am extremely enraged over this incident. I know the keys were contained in this article due to the fact that the Keychain was left on top, without keys. I could not imagine why someone would remove these keys from my Keychain that holds only those keys. I would like to hear your openion on the matter. Thanks, Alexander Kruse"
Pros: "Crew was very very helpful had children with they accommodated us and cheated us very well"
Pros: "I like when the flight was over and I left the plane. This airline is the worst in the business."
Cons: "The women at the gate rambled on and on each time she spoke. Rather than sticking to the boarding zones and keeping at that it was a constant annoying reminder about having to pay more money. The flight attendant don’t do their job. They spend more time Selling the credit card program than anything else. I was asked to put up another passengers seat tray as this passenger was asleep. This is not my job. They all stood in the front gossiping about who knows what instead of staying on the ready for the passengers. They look down upon and speak down upon. As If the crew was doing us a favor when it because of us they even have a job. Worst airline experience ever. I will never fly this airline again. The gate agents a check in couldn’t even speak proper English."
Cons: "#1.Spirit Website and Mobile apps keep crashing and several of us who booked your airlines were not able to utilize mobile boarding passes. In the age of mobility this User Experience (UX Design) should be a priority. #2. I understand your policy that you need to purchase beverages or snacks but after you have been delayed on the runway for 1hr 30 minutes you should drop that policy and at least give us some water. Overall experience was horrible and customers on the plane around me shared the same feeling. Most of them were booked by travel agents from what I'm told that utilized your airlines and now they know as well."
Pros: "Price was good & competitive... personnel on board pretty accomodating to your needs. However, they should take more control to passengers activities... had woman in front of me cursung in conversation the whole flight which i didnt need to hear w/my 13yr old son, had people across aisle loudly listening to RAP music WHICH I DIDNT CARE TO HEAR... 2 rows down asking for drink refills the whole flight. I'm a paying customer expecting my flight to be comfortable... not expecting for my flight experience to be shared with others nusance."
Cons: "Spirit personnel on ground need customer service training !!! You feel like a burden to them for help not realizing you buying ticket is job security for them... They're not professional in attitude & this is the difference between Spirit & other airlines !!!! Soooo bottom line... you pay bottom deal prices and have to expect bottom deal experience. Is it worth the savings & extra charges for seat/bags... depends on the savings & your tolerance ... i guess"
Cons: "Spirit is supposed to be a cheaper option but once you pay for your carry-on or checked bags round trip, the price is the same or more than other airlines. Except other airlines have more comfortable planes and better customer service. You can’t even get free water on a Spirit flight! The rows are so close to eachother. The planes are dirty. You leave with such a bad taste in your mouth about the airline. This will be the last time I fly Spirit. The 2-hour delay was supposedly weather-related but it’s been dry and sunny on both ends."
Cons: "When i checked in I was told that i could take my one paid for ( at check in prices) through the security and down the gate...they had put a green tag...no less then 3 people said wait right here when you de plane your bag will come up on ramp ...NOT baggage claim I waited 1/2 an hour before I was informed my bag was now in baggage claim.... Meaning run my butt of get my bag go to check in again through security to board another flight. and no help from this airlines I did make my connection.... really poor to say you will do something then totally screw up."
Pros: "It was on time. They didn't charge me to use the restroom."
Cons: "I purchased a ticket from Chicago to Myrtle beach for 158.00. When I checked in I had my luggage and my golf clubs. It cost me 50.00 for the first bag and 60.00 for the second bag. Then I went up to the counter and she said it will be an additional 30.00 because both pieces were overweight. I opened the bag that was 51.5 pounds and took out a shoe which lowered it to 49 pounds. She said you still owe me 30.00. I said its under 50 pounds and she replied "It has to be under 40 pounds". I got upset and said I will never every fly Spirit airlines again and she smiled. I said you could care less couldn't you. I am sure its not the first time she has heard that. They also charge you for soft drinks, water, or coffee. So all in all I ended up paying 140.00 each way for my luggage and 158.00 for my ticket, so the entire price to get me and my luggage there and back cost 438.00"
Pros: "I was most impressed with how well the flight attendants handled the situation of a screaming baby whose diaper needed changing. One attendant politely and amiably told the father (who was traveling alone with two small children) about the changing table in the bathroom and assisted him in retrieving his bag and getting to the bathroom with the two children. Another attendant came by with air freshener while the family was in the bathroom, as the area where they had been sitting had started to smell. Overall, the crew was very professional and friendly, managing to improve the situation smoothly and without making anyone feel badly."
Pros: "Their staff is friendly ...as they are taking your credit card to pay for the duffel bag that you will carry on yourself and sit at your feet . Extra big smiles because that carry on bag with your valuables, medication and laptop will cost you more than check in ."
Cons: "What didn't I like ? I don't even know where to begin ? If you are a traveler that doesn't need clothes or can pack into a bag the size of a purse then this might be an airline for you . If you think you are going somewhere more than 48hrs you won't save a dime . My daughter and I flew to her dance convention we each had a carry on and two checked bags . For the luxury of sitting next to her ( she is a minor) that's a extra $20 per ticket . I spent an extra $440.00 at the kiosk when I arrived to the airport. They'll tell you that you can save money by doing this at home ...its barely a savings . You will spend exactly what you would have had you flown American or United and significantly more than southwest. If you got the same quality, it wouldn't matter to me . But you don't . I'm 5'4" and my knees touch the back of the seat . Both flights the plane was completely filthy ( I have pics) . There are no adjustable headrests , the seats don't recline and it's like trying to sleep in a office chair . Horrible ."
Pros: "Literally nothing"
Cons: "Spirit emailed me 12 hours before my flight telling me the flight had been cancelled. No call, just an email - and it was sent after 8pm, so it was lucky that I was checking my email that night. I called and they said they wouldn't be able to get me on another flight out until a day and a half after my original flight, so I ended up just cancelling the flight entirely and buying one on another airline. It took me 2 phone calls (2.5 hours each) to get Spirit to issue a full refund. The worst part? The flight wasn't cancelled. I found out from someone that had been on an earlier Spirit flight that was also cancelled that I had been booted off the flight so that they could rebook people from their flight. I looked on Spirit's site and sure enough the flight had reappeared and was accepting reservations. Absolutely unacceptable to lie to your customers and just boot them off of flights where they had paid for checked bags and seats in favor of other customers."
Pros: "It got me to my destination is the only positive thing I can think of to write."
Cons: "I disliked that if I didn't prebook my suitcases online ahead of time I'm charged a larger fee at the desk even when I'm a club member with the airline. Then I was told to pay my overage weight fee online and that isn't an option on the website. So when the person at the desk went to charge me she said it was $50 when if I'd have just paid for 2 suitcases online it would have been $10 cheaper. I also think it's crazy to charge customers for a cup of water on the flight especially one that's 3.5hours long. I get the airline is cheap and offers cheap flights but to nickel and dime customers for even water is crazy. The seats were also very very close tofether so that your knees are almost crammed into the person's seat in front of you. My husband use to be in the airborne unit in the military and said those flights with all his gear and no frils was more comfortable than this flight. I highly doubt we'll ever use spirit airlines again unless it's the only option or if it's under 1.5hrs to fly to my destination. I'm not sure I could endure must longer of a flight on their planes."
Pros: "Wouldn't know that wouldn't even let me print my ticket."
Cons: "How when I waited in line and ended up only being 40 minutes early rather than 45 they wouldn't even pull up my reservation, which I had already checked in online too, just needed a printed ticket. Instead when I mentioned where I was going he just remarked too bad it's too late you needed to be here earlier I can't help you and proceeded to the next customer completely ignoring me. I guess being a paying customer gets you no where with this company. Now I see why everyone hates them. I used to stand up for them but I guess it was only a matter of time before being subjected to their terrible business practices."
Pros: "I have absolutely nothing positive to say about spirit airlines or their employees."
Cons: "I got to the airport early so I could arrive to my girlfriends graduation in time. When I got there, I was bluntly told that my flight had been canceled because the whole spirit crew didn't show up. I was then told that they could send me the next day which would have been 28 hours later which I clearly explained to them that I would miss my once in a lifetime opportunity and they werent willing to help. They brushed me off and treated me like I was bothering them by trying to figure out my own flight. I have had bad experiences with spirit before but never have I before heard of any such terrible experience let alone living through it. I dont ever plan on using them again. Terrible company with matching god awful service and representation."
Pros: "Their employees were pleasant enough"
Cons: "My return flight got cancelled and over 24 hours later I still haven't been able to even speak to their customer service to get a refund. I ended up purchasing another ticket on Southwest because I had to get home and Spirit didn't have any flights until about 24 hours later. The cheapest crummiest airline out there. You have to pay to check in at the airport. You have to pay for carry on luggage. You have to pay for everything. The flight was uncomfortable and they won't even give you water. Literally everything is an extra charge, and there are about 10 pop up screens trying to get you to purchase extra stuff every time you try to navigate their website. I won't be flying them again."
Pros: "The attendants were nice. The pilot was kinda funny."
Cons: "I didn't do my research.... A carry on cost $55 at time of checkin. Most seats do not recline. Beverages/snacks...even the basics cost. No onboard internet. I'm sure these are all things I could have found out with a little digging but I was buying a ticket in a hurry at the last minute. Not blaming anyone but myself but Spirit is not the airline for me. I got the feeling they promote themselves as a budget airliner but when you add of the costs of a carry on a account for the missing comforts I felt like there wasn't much savings in terms of experience. This is not for airline snobs...which I guess I am."
Pros: "Not very much, the crew was pleasant and that was the only decent thing about the flight."
Cons: "There was no option to get a mobile boarding pass and I was not near a printer and wanted to do it before arriving at the airport. Only being able to check one bag is the silliest and most inconvenient rule since I was gone for 10 days and needed to bags for all my things. The charge for an extra bag was practically what it cost to buy a plane ticket. The seats on the plane were the most uncomfortable plane seats I've ever been on especially for a 4 hour flight. Finally, there was no in flight entertainment for a 4 hour flight offered. There wasn't even an option for in-flight wifi for purchase. It was the worst flight I have ever had. It's 2017 and Spirit's lack of amenities that every other airline offers is a sorry excuse for providing slightly cheaper airfare than most airlines. I never desire to fly with Spirit again."
Pros: "The good news is that my return flight landed 30 minutes early but it doesn't outweigh the bad."
Cons: "When I went to check in for the return flight, I couldn't do it online and had to call customer service. After waiting 20+ minutes, I was told that I was a no-show for my outbound flight even though I was on it and even printed my boarding pass at the airport. They couldn't do anything else for me over the phone and instead instructed me to get to the airport 2-3 hours before my flight and they'll *try* to get me on the same flight or the next one. I decided to go to the airport first thing in the morning instead, showed them my boarding pass (luckily I hadn't thrown it out), and was fortunate to get back on my scheduled flight...but not without unnecessary stress and inconvenience."
Pros: "Spirit is the worst airline I have come across in my life. They cancelled our connecting flight and refused to refund the entire fare, as well as apologizing to us that there were no more flights available and there was no other flight they could put us on. This airline is actually no cheaper than any others when you add the enormous amount of hidden fees and charges, and you'd better like low quality in everything you do if you fly spirit. Thank god American Airlines had a flight at the same time and we were able to make it home in time for work the following morning, but to say that spirit is a garbage airline is a colossal insult to the hardworking men and women in the waste management industry. The CEO of spirit should resign in disgrace. Also they charge for water. Good luck dying if you're prone to dehydration. --Ratchan"
Pros: "Absolutely nothing"
Cons: "This was my worst experience ever with an airline! I have flown with them previously so I know about the bag fees, etc., but I did not realize thus was a self-service airline! There is is no customer service. My flight was to depart at 6am and we boarded the plane , but were informed that there was no pilot/copilot so we all had to de-board and wait for one. First they said 9:00, then 10 and then 10:45. I asked about my connecting flight and was told to go and book another flight which meant go back to the ticketing counter outside security! The agents at the gate claimed they did not have that capability. I proceeded to walk, but I called spirit airlines instead and was did not have to book another flight because the flight would be refueling and continuing to New Orleans so I would be on the same plane, but the gate agents did not know this. . We finally boarded 6 hours later to depart at 12pm. When I arrived in Chicago, not only did I have a message indicating I needed to pick up my bag in Baltimore, but also there was not flight continuing to New Orleans! So no bag and no flight! I had to argue with the ticket agent in order to get a hotel for the night book me on the same flight the next day. No apologies or explanation was provided. They actually tried to blame my phone connection for the miscommunication with airline about the connecting flight! They would not refund any amount for my bag or flight since they were able to book me 24 hours later! That is no excuse for the poor service they provided! Never again will I use this airline!"
Pros: "It went where I needed to go"
Cons: "There is almost nothing that would make me use this airline again. My flight wasn't even cheap, so that definitely didn't make up for the fact that I paid $50 both ways for my carry on bag, and one $30 seat fee so that I could request a window seat on a cross-country red eye. Water is not free on the plane, and still there were no seat back pockets, so the water bottle I bought (and didn't want in my bag w/ important documents) rolled around on the floor all night. I'm a small woman, and there was barely space for me to fit in the seat. Uncomfortable, expensive."
Cons: "I was surprised to find out that the bag weight limit was only 40 lbs rather than the usual 50 lbs. I had to open up my back pack my carry on and my checked bag and reload everything at the check in counter. What a circus. The ridiculous part of this whole thing is that I still took the same amount of weight with me and all that was accomplished was to make me uncomfortable and make those behind me wait for the show to end. When I printed my boarding pass it said TSA PreCheck on it. I'm thinking, at least I get to take the short line and dont have to get the full TSA "treatment". Well the TSA lady tells me that Spirit doesn't do PreCheck. I pointed out to her that the boarding pass said I in fact did have a PreCheck pass. No go, had to leave that line and go get in the long line after discussing this with the TSA lady. Spirit, really? What a mess!!"
Cons: "55.00 fee for carry on luggage 50.00 fee for each checked bag I understand that it was a cheap flight, but they make up for that cost with all the fees! Plus there is no inservice drinks...everything is for purchase only. No cash, only credit used. Both my flights were delayed. The first one only and hour. The second over two hours. Crew on both were unprofessional and unkept. They were all wearing different color uniforms, I never knew if it was a flight attendant or a passenger. I would skip this airline in the future and just pay the extra with a better know airline. You will be paying extra in fees anyway, by going with this company. Oh and if you don't pay the 55.00 for your carry on at time of check in--they will charge you 100.00 at the gate. Terrible!"
Pros: "This airline is one big scum. They selling more tickets than they can board. I forgot to register online since it was not mandatory action. We came 55 min before departure and spent 10 min by staying in line. During our staying in line nobody from Spirit inquiry our flight to offer a quick check in. Finally after we reached a self-registration kiosk we got a message that we cannot register our self and required an assistance. We spend 5 more minutes by looking for an assistance and finally 40 min before departure we have been told that we missed our registration deadline. There is no way to argue and apply on common sense to solve the situation. People who were staying in front of us in the line (they came 1 hour 10 min before departure but also did not register online) got the same response from Spirit reps - they missed a registration deadline. Then I checked the flight information and found that the flight to Chicago departure 10 min earlier the schedule. It means that guys from Spirit sold more tickets than they could accommodate. As soon as the number of the passengers met the capability of the plane they hold the remaining passengers who did not register online in line till the registration deadline is due and offer another flight for additional price that even more than the original ticket price. I have seen this practice in 3rd world airlines but could not imagine that US Company will follow the same pattern. Shame on you Spirit"
Pros: "An attempt at quality and attractive marketing was apparent, but the experience discredited the nice sounding claims."
Cons: "1 "free" personal item but no free carry on, charging $50 for it, or a surprise $100 at the gate is borderline unethical, and additionally a terrible marketing decision on behalf of the airline. Customers would be willing to pay more if they didn't have to deal with this last minute nonsense. In addition crew members were acting juvenile and unprofessional, e.g. taking selfies on the plane, leaving woman in a wheelchair to have to deal with herself without priority boarding, lack of familiarity with instructional material, etc. The plane itself made me feel like cattle. The cheapest possible 'interior design' was quite apparent. Once more, customers would probably be willing to pay more to be able to recline in their seat a bit, have a real seatback table and pocket, and not feel like their seating space was designed by someone who makes bench press benches for gyms. I understand the goal of the airline is to be the "cheap/affordable" one (high-five your neighbor for all the money you're saving! etc) but the price difference is really nowhere near palpable enough to warrant the unmistakable lack of quality or attempt at making the flight experience an enjoyable one. Moving forward, I, (in addition to at least a few others on my flight), will be sure to spend a little extra money on a plane ticket to circumvent the experience of having to deal with such a deplorable airline. Whatever the profit margins are from delivering such a meager flight, make at least an attempt to cover it up somehow."
Cons: "The crew reseated the woman sitting next to me into the exit row, even though the woman came to the gate in a wheelchair, used a cane when getting on the plane (walking right past the crew), and clearly struggled getting on to the plane and then into her original seat, which was not exit row. After she was seated in the exit row aisle seat, the other passenger in the exit row had to climb over her when the passenger needed to go to the lavatory. God forbid anything had happened where we would have had to use the exit row. Imagine people having to climb over her or her having to struggle to get up and get out of the exit row exit, with people trapped behind her. The crew told me and another passenger that they would address this safety violation, but they did not. They also said that a manager would meet us when we got off the plane, but no one did. They clearly did not care about such a serious safety violation."
Cons: "Both my round trip flight from Boston to Chicago were canceled due to weather. I wasn't given any warning. The most I got was an email that said "your flight may have been canceled" after the time of when the flight was supposed to leave. I waited in lines for hours to get refunds. I didn't have time to wait a second hour and ended up buying a new flight with American. There were not enough employees to deal with the line of people waiting. We had to wait for two different groups of people flying to other cities to process their baggage. I left the line after an hour or else I would have missed my flight. They gave me a number to call in order to get a refund and this call has taken me about an hour and a lot of explaining, even though a refund was promised. It's too much to deal with. I won't fly with spirit again."
Pros: "Boarding was alright, pretty quick and that's about it."
Cons: "Well let's start at the check in, so I got to an airport about 40 minutes before my boarding(usually what I do when I fly with Southwest), went on to check in my bag, once I got there the receptionist was extremely rude, as well as uneducated on the layout of the gates, as soon as my bag got checked in she threw it off the scale and told me to move on as soon as I asked her why she is being so aggressive with my baggage. Then when I was boarding there were no smiles by the crew, the seats were extremely uncomfortable, and I was waiting for a water for about 15 minutes asked a crew member again and she responded with "You are not the only passenger here, I will bring you your water once I'm done with other passengers" and for the 15 minutes I did not see her help a single customer. I am so disappointed in this flight that I am not flying with them back, instead I spent just a bit more and will fly out of Chicago with a different airline. Avoid spirit airlines at all costs!"
Cons: "I booked my flight months in advance for a special occasion for a good friend's wedding. Only a few hours prior to the scheduled flight I discovered that Spirit airline charges money for CARRY-ON bags. I went on the spirit airline website to purchase a bag and check in and discovered my flight was delayed by 2 hours. I called spirit airlines and was advised that if I purchase the carry on bag on the phone it's an additional $55 per trip - or $110 total on top of what I paid for my flight. I was also advised that the airline was delayed due to "traffic control". After the phone call I gathered my belongings to leave for the airport and, just moments before leaving, I checked the status of my flight again and discovered that spirit CANCELED my flight. There was no bad weather or other circumstance that would explain the cancellation. I called spirit airlines, once again, and was advised it was canceled due to the traffic control center. Then they advised me that there were no available flights to my destination until the next EVENING, which would cause me to miss the entire event! Spirit customer service was incredibly unhelpful and rude. I explained my situation and the importance of my event and the only option they gave me was a flight that would essentially miss the entire event or a refund. I even asked the representative to look for flights that depart in three (3) surrounding STATES that I would drive out of state to make the flight. The agent said no flights were available and they were all booked. I informed the agent that the refund would not cover the cost of a new flight, as the flights from other airlines now increased to nearly $1,000 and spirit's notification was so delayed that it was nearly impossible for me to make it to other airports. The agent said he would refund my flight, which would take weeks, so I could not even use those funds for another flight if I wanted to. After he refunded my flight, he tried to transfer me to the credit department to "apply for a spirit credit card." I was shocked by his insensitivity and asked him "why would I want to apply for a spirit airline credit card when this was my first experience with spirit airlines and you unilaterally canceled my flight and ruined my weekend and could not get me on another flight?" Instead of being accommodating or providing proper customer service, the representative HUNG UP ON ME! This was a huge warning to me and a terrible lesson to learn: DO NOT USE SPIRIT AIRLINES."
Pros: "Rey, our light attendant."
Cons: "When my husband and I checked out bag, we were told Gate D2. After walking the way to Gate D2, I learned through a casual conversation with a flight attendant that D2 was going to Florida, not Chicago. The screen at D2 was blank, so we had no idea. Turns out, we were supposed to be at Gate E34, so we raced back downstairs, caught the train to E, and ran all the way down another long hallway to Gate E34. I happen to have two heart stents and need a knee replacement, so I was in bad shape when I FINALLY made it to the CORRECT gate. I had to take a nitro pill once I sat down. It took a long time for my heart rate to return to normal. It is only by the caring efforts of Rey, our flight attendant, that my husband convinced me to stay with Spirit Airlines for our return flight."
Cons: "Too many hidden fees! I didn't know I had to pay for my carry-on. The flight was at 6:20am, so I had to pay for a Super Shuttle, since the Metro wasn't open yet. I should have just flown the slightly more expensive United flight, since they ended up costing the same in the end. Then, the flight attendants were unfriendly, like old school principals. My seat didn't recline AND was tiny. NO entertainment whatsoever - not even a magazine. And while I didn't mind (so much) the lack of in-flight beverage service, the fact that Spirit sells Oodles of Noodes - that's right, OODLES OF NOODLES - on the flight (and for $3.50!) was simply too much. I'll never fly Spirit again. Never."
Cons: "The crew members were rude and I felt inconvenienced by any request (only made one--for a beverage). I witnessed extreme rudeness of the crew members to other customers as well. The seats don't recline and are quite thin and hard. Without doubt, this was the most uncomfortable flight I've ever been on (as was the other flight on this trip on a spirit plane). I will not be flying spirit ever again. I paid for my checked bag 24 hrs in advance and still paid $42 dollars. I luckily had a printer where I was staying and could print my boarding pass to avoid being charged for that. All that being said, even with my planning and following "spirit 101" guidelines on their website, I ended up paying the same I would have had I flown another (more comfortable, less inconvenient) airline with better customer service."
Pros: "The flight was generally OK, and got me from Dallas to Chicago virtually on time, inexpensively."
Cons: "Once again I had a frustrating time trying to check in the night before, via my phone. The system never let me do that. Consequently I had to pay more to check my bag, since I was unable to do it until arriving at the airport. I joined their 9$ Fare Club before the Chicago-Dallas trip, but their system never recognized that or gave my any benefit from that money. I also hate that they nickel-and-dime you by not giving you even a glass of water or a bag of pretzels without payment. How much would adding those basic courtesies really add to the cost???"
Cons: "Spirit airlines claims it has the lowest fares. I had to pay more for this flight than my Delta flight. I was not impressed with the fact that you have to pay for your seats ($10) if you want to know where you're seated when you check in. That doesn't even make sense. Then you have to pay even for water! For goodness sake on a two hour flight that was already delayed by an hour they had nothing complimentary to give us. I was freezing the entire time back to Chicago. In fact I was very uncomfortable because I don't think that the seats even went back. I felt like I was hustled by Spirit airlines and will choose not to take them ever again."
Pros: "You can tell the planes have been updated and they were comfortable."
Cons: "All of the joking done by the stewards on the overhead microphone. Too many jokes and their content, it wasn't funny at that point it was unprofessional. Super disappointed about having my luggage left at my city of origin and the earliest I was offered to get it returned was in 24 hours! So I'm in a new city with no clothes at all and the rest of my continents that were in my suitcase. Arranging to have the suitcase dropped off is not enough to counter the worry and financial inconvenience that comes with not having your stuff. I am thoroughly disappointed and will never fly with spirit again"
Cons: "My wallet was stolen in San Francisco so I called to change my flight to a time when a duplicate ID was sent through the mail from my home state's dmv. Instead of transfering the flight i already paid for the customer service representative forced me to purchase a completely new one way ticket back to o hare, in addition to a flight change fee. The representive kept trying to push me off the line when I asked what the new charges were and why no offset any of the costs I had paid for for my intial return including the ticket price, fare difference, baggage purchases, and seat selection was offered. After trying to hang up on me several times she finally agreed to let me switch my flight, for $200 more on top of the ticket i had already bought, bringing my total expenses for my trip home well above $600. Later, through email, I found that she had not in fact switched my flight, but forces me to buy another flight altogether. After this transaction went through she started asking me about my personal information, social security card number, income, my career. When I asked her why She was doing this she said that she was signing me up for a spirit airlines credit card. I was astonished, and before I could even ask why she was doing this without my consent she thanked me for my business and shrewdly hung up the phone."
Pros: "The gate agents were patient and understanding that the delay was a major hassle."
Cons: "The plane was delayed almost 2 hours due to a maintenance issue in another city. We sat in a deserted airport with everything closed for almost 3 hours because they insist you still have to be there an hour before the original flight time in case something changes, despite the fact that they knew about the delay for most of the day and could have given us more information about why it was delayed. Then when we were finally allowed to board the less than half full flight, the flight attendants refused to allow us to move around to the empty seats because of the carefully calibrated "weight and balance of the aircraft", so about 50 people were packed in six people to a row from rows 18 to 25, while the rest of the plane sat empty. Then they didn't even do a beverage service. Spirit charges for every single item of food or drink, but it would have been nice to at least have the option to get something to drink after sitting in a deserted airport for three hours. But the are too cheap to even offer a free glass of water to compensate us for the trouble caused by their maintenance issue. Never again will I fly Spirit. After all the nickel and diming they do, the hassle isn't worth the cost savings."
Pros: "The price was great, and I am ok with having to purchase baggage and other stuff in advance, though charging $50 for a carry-on is a bit excessive. I would definitely consider using them again for very short flights (2 hours or less). Staff on the red eye was kinda cranky, but the return flight staff was friendly. Departure and Arrivals were right on for both flights and the pilot made sure to warn us of turbulence in advance."
Cons: "While I understand the concept of the "ala carte" method of traveling, it really was not clear that none of the seats actually recline at all! I will NEVER use Spirit for a "red eye" flight ever again (or any flight over 3 hours)! The amount of money saved wasn't worth what I have ended up spending in chiropractic care afterwards from having my back seize up on me from the uncomfortableness of those seats and trying to sleep sitting straight up! We decided to upgrade to an exit row for the flight home just to have some extra leg room, but still with no reclining of seats (the only 4 seats that recline were already taken)..... the comfort level was not there at all, other than at least our knees weren't bumping against the seat in front of us, like on the red-eye."
Pros: "Every time I fly with Spirit they seem to single me out and try to make me pay $100.00 dollars for a Cary on witch here's a perfect example my husband flys with Spirit all the time and I decided to take his personal bag for my flight to Chigago so no one will aggravate me but guess what they still did I can't win with Spirit I don't know why they do that to me maybe I just look to good to be in their airline or to rich I can't explain it but it's sad that they should have better managers to handle Thair passengers better my biggest complaint would be when u flew out of Atlantuc city with my husband and son headed to Dallas and was stopped at the entrance of the gate boarding the plane the manager in charge asked me to pay $100.00 dollars for the carry on I explained that there were 5 things in the personal item but he still continued to argue with me my husband and son boarded the flight with bigger bags thAn I had but I didn't want to couse trouble for anyone else on that flight si I decided to ask a vendor near by if he had a plastic bag that I can have to put my pijamas and a change of clothing that I had so that's what I did and left my carry on witch meant so much to me be couse my grandmother had gave it to me when I was young so I really tried to complain to spirit back in October 15th 2015 but it was impossible to get to someone who listens anyway I can't stand spirit after that but I still fly with them not couse they are good or nice they suck but they are with in my budget when I need to fly so don't expect anything for nothing from Spirit I don't ! Ps I'm sure if someone of authority sees this revew can look through your computers and see that what I said was all true and I'm sure they have camaras at the Airport that you can review and see what I said was true ."
Pros: "Flying time was good, but no water at toilets"
Cons: "Delays, waiting 8 hrs. delayed, looks like not enough personnel to take care of passengers needs, confusion and misleading information, followed by poor apologies, not worth, I will never flight again with Spirit. Also, there are fees everywhere, really you think you will save money, I don't think so, by the time you add the baggage fees, check in fees, seat fees etc. you end up paying more than other , better serviced airlines. Sorry , lost a client , I have tried three times thinking that you will improve,, the same result.NOT AGAIN!!"
Cons: "They hit me and my girlfriend with 100$ of carrying fees we were unaware of beforehand. Our bags were small and easily fit overhead, but 50 dollars each! That's as much as our ticket and is absolutely ridiculous and exploitative. AT LEAST warn it could be that much before allowing us to choose that flight. The crew was equally as bad, over worked and cranky. They allowed a group of people to yell across the aisle about lewd things despite complaints and the fact it was a night flight. Spirit is garbage. Never again."
Cons: "Where to start...... the fact that you offer the lowest prices in the market does not make up for all of the charges you tack on to the flight usually unbeknownst to the passenger. You know full well that people do not read small print and it is disgusting to take advantage of lower income passengers looking for a good deal by asking people to pay to check in?!?! That is so rude an unheard of, let alone the fees for bags. You make it cheaper for someone to pay to check a bag before they get there, but then when I got there I realized that I could have carried on a much larger bag. The seats on my outgoing flight were incredibly small. I am 6ft tall and there are a large number of people as tall as or taller than me and when I was sitting fully upright my knees were touching the other seat so I can't imagine how a taller person could fit. You should put a disclaimer that you practice prejudice against tall people. I have never been on a plane where they have poster advertisements, and the one on my plane was for what looks like a strip club, which is just so low and trashy of you. What really put the cherry on top of this repulsive experience is when you advertised for a CREDIT CARD YOU FILTHY CHEAP JERKS at 9:30 pm after we had been delayed an hour and people were trying to sleep. You had us trapped in a confined space in the air and you held us captive while you sold us a credit card. Also, again, you KNOW your clientele are lower income people and you are taking advantage of them. We all KNOW that credit cards are a huge problem in a lot of people's finances and you are knowingly taking advantage of that. Last thing. Water is a human right and even the flight attendant was incredibly embarrassed to have to ask a thirsty passenger to pay for WATER. I WILL NEVER EVER EVER take a Spirit airline flight again in my entire life and I will be openly advertising what an awful, disgusting airline you are. I will also be doing research into what other companies are affiliated with your airline and I will be boycotting them as well."
Pros: "Spirit has promised to return the $100 improper overcharge after I spent well over an hour on the phone waiting and talking with them."
Cons: "They charged my brother and friend $100 for luggage that I had already paid for because Spirit lost the return reservation and had no proof of payment. They only let the passengers board after they proved through old luggage tags that they had been on the flight out. It doesn't say much for security that this can happen. I still can't believe they have made no attempt to offer redress vouchers to the passengers. They lost my luggage once at a holiday time but immediately gave us vouchers for another flight which at least made me feel compensated for waiting for my luggage. They're not getting better, and now they're not even sorry about it."
Pros: "Cheaper airfare."
Cons: "3 hour delay with no announcements from Spirit staff. We only knew about the delay from checking our cell phone. The flight itself was terrible because of the crying children (who were really tired from the late departure time). There was also a woman yelling and screaming and dancing before boarding the plane. Sprit airline staff didn't do anything about this obnoxious behavior - Southwest did, they called the police. Next time I'm flying Southwest because they clearly had safety and customers' well being in mind. This was my first time flying Spirit and I won't do it again. I haven't recommended the airline to any of my family or friends either."
Cons: "Very disappointing.. 1. Lot of hidden charges ($45 for carry on luggage per side) 2. Charges to select seats 3. No complimentary drinks. Even water was for $3 4. They do not accept mobile boarding passes. You need to get a print out of your boarding pass. I mean that is amazing. 5. The most disgusting moment was when i came to know that there was a chewing gum on my tshirt when i removed seat belt. I came to know that it was already there on seat belt. Not sure whose fault it is. Cleaning staff or traveler ? Overall very disappointed with spirit airlines... Will never ever use this airlines again."
Cons: "My 6:00 AM flight was cancelled but didn't find that out until I got to the airport at 4:45AM. The two options Spirit gives you is to put you on the next flight tomorrow at 6AM or refund your money. I was lucky to purchase a flight on an airline with a real schedule for later that morning. That flight was practically empty. It is a shame that Spirit doesn't have the customer service to accommodate it's passengers on to other flights. Low cost fares are appealing but more of a hassle than they are worth when the airline has little to no contingency plans. An I'm sorry and a $15 voucher can't get you back 24 hours of time or the money folks who choose low cost carriers have to waste on getting back and forth to the airport or spend on hotels in the area."
Pros: "The only highlight of the day was the agents and checkin and prior to boarding who where willing to go the extra mile I'm sure not all of them are like that"
Cons: "This airline is a farce they say they are the cheapest but in reality you could fly on Donald trumps plane for less never mind they charge you for a glass of water which is 3.00 they might as well charge for breathing. Pilots are amateurs they fly terrible and the rest of the team isn't much better. Any airline that pushes people to sign up for a credit card to get mileage is not only the worst airline to fly it is inappropriate to do since most of us on this planet already have a billion dollars in debt. New thought process for your airline maybe the slogan should be everything costs money including the air you breathe whoever said your the best value airline doesn't apparently know the inner workings of yours and should fly your airlines to find out."
Cons: "After being prevented from flying on Spirit airlines to San Diego by Spirit staff at the O'Hare boarding gate because we only arrived twenty minutes before flight departure I was worried about the return flight to O'hare from San Diego. I called the day before to check in, and confirmed the check in online. Then, upon arrival at the airport I was told by a Spirit employee that my ticket was no longer valid. Despite having paid in full for the ticket, and having checked in the day before. It turns out there is an overriding policy Spirit has but does not actively communicate to customers which automatically cancels and resells your seat reservation for your return flight in the event you miss your first flight. And while it is understandable to assume that someone won't need a return flight if they miss their first flight, its also understandable to assume someone will simply board a later flight and continue with their vacation and still need a return flight. To find out which assumption is correct all that is needed is an auto-generated email or text. But Spirit doesn't do that. They setup an auto generated cancellation, but not an auto generated message of the cancellation. And they don't show the cancellation in your Spirit account. I can only assume this is by design, and the goal is to essentially purposefully cause the customer to miss their flight without a refund while also getting to resell the customer's seats to a second traveler. I understand that airlines must always cut costs and that the traveler is responsible for their journey. But there is a way to cut costs without subterfuge. The only reason we got aboard was because someone else missed their flight and we took their seats. The one's I had purchased with extra leg room were being used by someone else. There are many ways for a business to make money, and being disingenuous with customers is one of them. But it is not the only way or the best way. This manner of shuffling customers costs Spirit in the longterm. It causes needless confusion, dissatisfaction, and burns out front Spirit staff while losing repeat business. I recommend changing this way of doing business."
Pros: "The fares were very reasonable. and the plane was clean."
Cons: "After we were in our seats, before takeoff a very large woman moved into the aisle seat. She was extremely rude. She did not fasten her seatbelt for takeoff and landing and hid it with a jacket across her lap . She wouldnt get up so we could use the restroom, but turned sideways but she was so large we had to practically climb over her to get out. We asked her to give her trash to the flight attendant and she became abusive and threatened to slap our faces and started with very rude comments and racial slurs. I know she did not have a ticket for the seat she was in. She make our trip terrible and no flight attendant ever said a word to her . I wish I has filed a complaint against her."
Cons: "First, why do you even need a printed ticket in this day and age? Nearly everyone has a smartphone and ever airport gate can support scanning electronic tickets. The ticket machine didn't work and produced a see desk agent slip. After waiting in line for 15 minutes I was told I missed the 45 preflight checkin by 5 minutes and I would not be issued a ticket. The next flight would be 12 hours later and I would need to pay the difference. The agents were not helpful or sympathetic. As a budget airline I would expect cost constraints on things like baggage, in flight perks and seat space; apparently it also includes a customer service model which alienates the customer and seeks ways to prevent them from actually traveling."
Cons: "We arrived 55 minutes prior to our flight, which had been delayed. They told us there was no room on the flight, and that we should have been there 45 minutes prior to our SCHEDULED departure time, not the actual departure time with the delay. They offered us a flight the next morning, but then said that was booked as well. We asked how we were supposed to know about this scheduled departure rather than actual departure and they said they sent an e-mail. I never got it and I called customer service. They said they had not been able to e-mail me because kayak hadn't given them my e-mail address. THey also said that the desk attendants wrote that we arrived late, at 5:30, when actually we were there at 5:15. They refused to refund us our money because it's a non-refundable flight."
