FAQs - booking Malaysia flights

  • Which is the best airport to access Malaysia from the USA?

Malaysia boasts of a number of top-tier international airports. Therefore, the choice you make on the airport to use will depend on several factors.

  • Is it possible for travelers to shop before boarding a trip from Salt Lake City International Airport to Malaysia?

Yes. Visitors arriving in Malaysia from the USA might consider flying out of SLC Airport in case they intend to shop before continuing to Malaysia. The close proximity of several upscale malls to this airport will improve your ability to shop. One of the most appealing shopping areas close to SLC Airport is The Gateway Shopping Center, which offers reasonably priced goods and services.

  • First of all, where in Malaysia are you planning to visit?

For example, if going on a hike on Mount Kinabalu is among your top priorities, then it would be best to use the Sandakan (SDK) airport. If you choose the wrong airport, you might have to connect to your desired destination through another flight, a ferry, etc.

  • Which nearby Malaysian cities does BKI Airport serve?

Visitors arriving in Malaysia through BKI Airport can quickly get to a number of nearby cities. Donggongon, Kota Kinabalu, Putatan, and Kinarut are a few of the nearby cities that BKI Airport serves. The centers of these cities are roughly 109 miles from BKI. To travel to these locations from BKI Airport, you can use a taxi, a rental car, or a bus.

  • How do I get from the Airport to the city center?

Malaysia has a well-functioning transport system that not only connects the two parts of the country but also makes it easy to access different areas of each part. In the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, for example, there are quite a number of taxis to help you navigate. There are two types of taxis here, the airport taxis and the metered taxis. Airport taxis run their operations through a coupon system accessible through the respective counters. On the other hand, metered taxis will charge you according to the distance you are traveling. Additionally, you can get from airports to city centers using public transport such as buses.

  • Are there any nearby hotels that provide complimentary airport shuttle service to travelers arriving at BKI Airport?

You shouldn't worry if you intend to stay at a hotel that offers a free airport shuttle after arriving at BKI Airport. Near the BKI Airport, many hotels offer complimentary airport services. Consider reserving a room in a hotel that features a free airport shuttle if you'd like to avoid the hassle of paying for taxis to get to your preferred hotel.

  • I am traveling to Malaysia to visit the Perhentian Islands, where should I fly to?

Located in Besut district in Terengganu, Malaysia, the islands are a top tourist attraction. If this is your destination, the closest airport to the islands is Khota Bharu. The airport is close to Kuala Besut jetty, a place where you will get a ferry to the islands. The best thing about traveling with the ferry from here is that the prices are affordable; you won’t have to break your budget.

SLC Airport is the favored departure airport for the majority of passengers flying to Malaysia from the USA. Chair was broken. Crew was awesome. Food was eh. Dinner food not so good the sandwich was good ( for airplane food) headphones hurt my ears. It’s hard because no one has plug in earphones

Fast boarding. Cabin temperature was a bit warm, but I guess this is the standard in ANA. The Room seats are spacious, but not long enough for me.

ANA crews are superb, very responsive and caring. Boarding was smooth and so as the landing. Great flights we had with ANA.

Great service, wonderful meals, excellent entertainment, clean bathrooms, top notch experience

The cabin temperature is warmer than I expected and there’s no other way for me to control the temperature. It’s centrally controlled so it’s consistent for everybody. There’s no air flow that I could direct to me if I’m hot. I also noticed people wearing sleeveless shirt. I’m not the only one who noticed that the temp is warm. In a crowded plane, temp should be a little colder, not warm. People can use sweater or use blankets. When it’s warm, there’s no other way to cool down. All 3 ANA planes that I’ve had this trip were all the same. It’s warm. It gets a little claustrophobic if there’s no air flowing or the temp is warm

ANA was wonderful just needed to upgrade the food and the entertainment.

Traveling with family should be sitted together. On our connecting flight we were all scattered.

The crew was so accommodating. If I asked for extra snack they gave it to me. In economy the seats were wide and plenty of legroom. The backrest should have reclined a little more. Instead it barely moved. The footrest was helpful. Overall, my experience was good and I would recommend ANA as an alternative to other oversees low-cost airlines.

Excellent. All the ticket prices have gone up so much. With only economy as the option, I thought I better pay for a good airline and I am glad I took ANA. The only thing is the long layover at Hanaeda enroute to Singapore. Any chance to bring back the service to land at Narita instead for the transit and a shorter layover will be fantastic. I am a fan of ANA.

Incredible. Amazing legroom. Over head fans for each person. Tv screens were great. Headphones were adequate. Seats were comfortable and spacious. Loved it.

I was traveling with my 3 minor children, one leg I was seated two aisles behind them. On the longest leg I would have preferred sitting across the aisle from them, not behind. My youngest is 4yos. I understand airplane seating configurations are not the airlines problem but seating the one adult with a reservation apart from the minors was very difficult.

Awesome! Was impressed with the hospitality and the thoughtful services. The cabin attendants were superb.

Leg room and flight sound insulation is very bad. They broke 3 of my bags with bad handling

Crews were great but food not much selection just all tailored for Asian passengers.

Too many luggages for 1 passenger (4 bags) will make all the overhead luggage bins a challenge to fit them all. Some have oversized hand carry as in like back packer size bags shouldn’t be allowed as handcarry.

I had a great experience with Singapore airlines as always. The partner airline, Scoot was fine except my bag was misplaced during the shuffle. Ultimately, my baggage arrived intact. Attempting to inquire about my baggage was impossible.

plus: service and personal assistance minus: online check-in did not work

The Premium economy class is not the same as some other airlines because there are no economy seats on these planes. Basically you’re getting an economy seat that’s a little wider. The seats are not that much more comfortable. The service and food experience is similar to economy class on other Asian airlines. There aren’t enough toilets for the entire plane therefore we are forced to share the business class toilets that are closed off with curtains.

My overall experience with Singapore Airlines is great. Will definitely fly Singapore airline again.

Good flight. Fiod was ready a bit late hence a hurry to finish before landing. Excellent crew and service

Flight delayed in NYC and missed Hong Kong connecting flight to Guangzhou. While being given a hotel room and a 30 dollar voucher to eat in the airport, the delay caused a few big inconveniences , a 12 hour delay should have been better compensated for.

I booked Flexi ticket, Paid extra for extra legroom seat. What I got was worst ever place to sit. It was an emergency exit seat with lots of legroom but half of the seat was occupied with aircraft body. Means you don’t keep that seat where a passenger can’t sit. The seats are too narrow. Whole night I was awake. Not movable armrests. One of the worst.

There is very little in the title" Premium" in the Economy experience with Cathay, Melbourne to Hong Kong. The seats are uncomfortable and the cabin with outdated 1990's decor and trim. The food service was sloppy and the leg room providing little to no advantage over regular economy seating. Infact, the Sunday flight was not fill occupancy and I would have done better saving the significant additional costs for the PREMIUM ticket and taken advantage of the seating. If you are a regular premium economy traveler of EMIRATES expecting the same experience on CATHAY, you will be disappointed. Emirates far superior.

Great, the flight attendants were very friendly and the food was also good.

The overall flight went well and the aircrew was pleasant.

Cathay Pacific seems to be an airline in trouble and on its way out. Lots of broken or poorly functioning things like entertainment screens, seats, and enough well trained staff to handle a full flight. Sad...

The flight crew was exceptionally good. Personal needs were well met. The food choices were very nice.

Excellent. Planes are a little older and could get some refurbishment, but besides that everything was excellent.

Crew experience was more transnational, seats were so close together (LtoR and FtoB) that it was difficult to enjoy much of anything. When the person in front leaned back, there is no space for me. Sadly it was a flight to be endured not experienced.

While I was in great pain, the seat was sufficiently comfortable to allow me to rest and not be in so much pain.

Check in desk people constrained by fear. Obvious typo on Uganda visa, even though approved, caused loss of flight. Something is definitely wrong with this system.

Between Air India and Qatar my luggage was lost for three days. I eventually found my own luggage location using the Apple Air Tag. Air India used a paper form to report my lost luggage. I could never get past getting past luggage personnel with my report number before they would hang up on me. Only after them specifically telling Air India at Chandigarh airport where my luggage was located which was right under their noses did they react. After three days I finally received my luggage. The Air India luggage folks didn’t seem proactive in finding the luggage’s rightful owner.

Besides the flight cancellation, everything else was prefect. Kudos to Malaysian Airlines.

Operated by American Airlines. Very chaotic and the crew was bit rough responding any enquiries. Restricted leg space.. Qatar would have been better

Qatar airways from Doha to guangzhau was excellent big bird Boeing 777 more room and smoothly flight, I Love it

It was good no problems made it on time for the next flight overseas!

The made us waiting and held our passports and boarding pass making us miss our flights

Not impressed. Only allowed one carry on on such a long flight.

The flight was good but my neighbor had the vent open full power for the whole flight and because the air was blowing from the side instead of from the top and I got very cold and ended up with a sore throat.

Bad experience with the delay n long wait time for connecting flight after missing the connection flight from Doha.

Awful. They cancelled my seats and demanded $1360 to rebook me

United failed me in cancelling flight to Chicago. Then put me on American Airlines standby to Miami for onward connection to RMO via IST. Standby failed. They looked me for Sunday morning 24 hours late at this point). Made it to Miami but Turkish airlines cancelled my seats and demanded $1360 to rebook the flights for the following day ! I went to United, spent two hours negotiating with Mr Ruis ? Who said he could do anything for me as he could fix problems that United caused in Miami. He suggested I call the 800 number. When I managed to.get through on my 6th call, I was on hold 2 hours and 30 minutes waiting for an agent when the call was cut off by United phone system. I went back to American. At last a lady , who had zero responsibility in this fiasco, helped me to find a replacement flight that night with Polish airlines to RMO through Warsaw at a cost of $968 including bag charge. I booked it with only a few hours to spare. The lady at American helped to recover and redirect my checked suitcase that had arrived in Miami a day earlier United customer service were awful. United partner Turkish airlines were horrendous and took zero responsibility. I ended up being late to my appointment overseas by 45 hours with zero compensation, no food vouchers, no replacement flights until I found one and paid for it myself. I reporting the entire fiasco to the secretary of state for Tennessee for law violations and refusal to remedy and compensate. I now need help to extend the trip by two days but United are not responding to communications

I was flying with Turkish Airlines from Tashkent to Dallas and from Dallas to Tashkent. In both directions the flights were late. I missed my connecting flight from Istanbul to Dallas in Istanbul airport because of that. That led to a no show case with a rental company in Dallas and I lost 460 US dollars. On the way from Dallas to Tashkent with a layover in Istanbul the plane was also late and I almost missed my connecting flight to Tashkent. Then my bag did not arrive with the same plane and only on the next morning flight from Istanbul. I was about to leave Tashkent the same day to Astana in Kazakhstan and then from there for work in Saudi Arabia. Luckily I had an excess in time before the next flight and I manage to get my bag back. Otherwise I would have missed 3 flights automatically because I couldn't travel for work without my bag and all valuables in it. So, overall, very bad experience with Turkish Airlines. Will never use these airlines again.

On my flight the menus showed different food and different was available. I think that was a miscommunication maybe. Other than that flight was wonderful.

Request for “strict vegan” as in the airlines meal selection was not strictly adhered to. My two travelling partners with their Asian vegetarian meals said that their meals were not Asian.

We waited 4 hours in the flight to take off but then the flight was cancelled.

It was ok. This flight was for my 80 year old grandparents and when they arrived to Beirut no wheelchair (as requested) was waiting for them. My grandpa had to pick up his own luggage, he got soooo tired. No one to help him as we submitted the request ahead of time

Terrible seats are very uncomfortable and narrow. Really hard time eating and painful buttons.. crew was very rud not allow anyone to stand not even to go to the toilets

Overnight flight in the old style Business class, but still very good.

I was in business class, without the business class amenities. Large seat with lots of legroom, but no TV or bed. Food was okay, but I did enjoy the Turkish red wine.
