They said they'll get right to it, handed me my tickets and sent me on my way. It never happened. Not a big deal, I can request the mileage post flight, but still something. Look at my tickets, that I had booked a week in advance and specifically reserved an aisle seat. My ticket says "Priority Verification," whatever that means. Turns out it means you don't have a seat, and you get the worst of the worst. So what seat is the worst? How about the middle seat in a row of 5. The middle in a row of 5, on a transoceanic flight... What kind of airlines has 5 in a row? The guy next to me spent $300 for his ticket, I spent $1200, for the same flight, and this is the kind of seat I get? The plane felt like it was straight out of the 90's, carpeted center walls, old seats, tiny tv's. Overall, a plane that felt had not been updated in decades. Took 20 minutes for a flight attendant to respond to the flight attendant sign. This wasn't during beverage or food service, just a normal time at cruising altitude. They also don't have eye masks. Every other transoceanic flight I've been on has them provided in the seat pocket, American Airlines doesn't even have them on the plane! Economy class has no USB or power outlets, the in flight entertainment is about a 5" screen in probably 260p resolution. Decent selection of movies, but you have to join the movie in progress or wait approx 10 minutes for the next movie to start. Legroom was okay unless you had one of the entertainment boxes in your way, then that takes up 30% of your space. Some of the tray tables do not have cup holders, on the top, bottom, or anywhere on it. Also my table was tilted, so every time I put a cup on it, it slid right off. Seems like a minor complaint, but eating dinner and fighting a sliding cup the whole time is a pain. Dinner and breakfast tasted decent, but you can tell American is cheap on the food. Most airlines will give something like a main course, a bread roll, fruit cup/salad, juice, small dessert. American gives you the main course and a fruit cup and that is all. Crappy utensils too. Overall, if I had paid maybe $200 for the flight, I wouldn't have any room to complain, but because American holds the government carrier contract for FY17, I had to fly on them at exorbitant cost, and would never recommend them to anyone."

Cons: "This flight was actually on an American 777. One of the older models. For an almost 9+ hour flight, the in-seat entertainment systems need to be upgraded. The seats did not have USB charging capabilities, the selection of movies at the seat consisted of about 8 choices, and the screen size wasn't much larger than that of an iPhone 6 Plus. This was supposed to be a British Airlines flight, but it really was an American flight. I expected to be on a BA aircraft, which would have probably been upgraded."

Cons: "The airplane was outdated. It did not have personal entertainment suites at each seat. I haven't flown across the ocean without being able to choose my own movie in 3 years. Also, because of the outdated entertainment suite, the headphone jack is located in the armrest to the side instead of in the seat back in front of you. This caused me to bend my 3.5mm headphone connection at one point while I was moving my leg, because the connection jack is located below thigh level. The temperature was unbearable, and could not be controlled by the flight crew. Dressed for winter weather and roasted for the entire flight. I actually was dehydrated when we landed because I was sweating for 7 hours crossing the ocean."

After being in the air for about 45 minutes we were informed that there were issues with the engine and that we would be turning around and heading back to Dallas. By this point it was after midnight, and although I was appreciative that safely is a priority, there was no communication as to what the next steps were. After landing we were finally told that we would have to deplane, and after we sat around the gate for awhile we were informed that the flight would be delayed until 5 am. Being 12:50 am at this point a hotel would have been nice, but we were informed that AA was "out of hotels" but that if we wanted we could have a $12 food voucher to use at the one restaurant that was open several terminals over. The AA employee assisting in handing out the food vouchers seemed extremely unapologetic about the situation which didn't help with the frustration everyone was feeling. I will not be booking with AA again, and will be passing along my negative experience to family and friends. It is worth spending the extra money on a ticket for an airline that is more reliable with better customer service."

They even made smart remarks about people going to the bathroom when we pulled back in... I feel some of them acted extremely unprofessional and I truly never want to fly with this company again."

Cons: "The disorganization checking one check bag. I arrived in plenty of time. Very long line to check the bag (no skycab available). Majority of people in line arrived with only a short time before their flight and had to be rushed ahead of me to get to their flight on time. I finally arrived to the front of the line after about 45 minutes and 50% of the people behind me were on flights leaving in 30 minutes or less and had to go ahead of my husband and I. They obviously did not arrive with the advised amount of time allowance. It wasn't my fault I arrived with plenty of time and I had to deal with the verbal abuse from people having to go ahead. Maybe if they missed their flight, next time they would arrive earlier with enough time. It sure wasn't a very pleasant experience at all."

When we arrived at the airport to check our bag, which I had ALREADY paid for online when I booked my flight, the attendant told me it would be $40 for my bag. Why in the world would I pay $40 more for s bag I've already paid for? I explained to her many times it had already been paid for. Unfortunately she wasn't cooperative and I wanted to actually make my flight so I just paid the $40. So, for my departing trip I spent $70 total to check a bag which is what I am most unhappy about. The flight itself wasn't exactly enjoyable. No free water.. No peanuts or anything.. The staff was subpar. They looked like they hated their jobs. Neither of the attendants on the plane ever had a smile on their face. There was a 3rd but I probably saw him once. Idk where he was the whole time. The seats were extremely uncomfortable and I felt crowded. I know planes aren't suppose to be exactly comfortable, but let me just say that the only other airline I have flown with before was spirit and I would rather fly with them again than frontier. I was expecting a much better experience since spirit is supposed to be the bottom of the totem pole but this wasn't the case. I'm not looking forward to my flight home."

Due to the pilots, who said they had to wait for the shuttle from Addison, which is at the very least a 30 minute drive to the airport. Why are the pilots staying so far away from the airport? Why did they leave so late? This is not a legitimate reason to keep a plane full of people (that were on time!) waiting for an hour and a half. This is not how an airline should be run. Flights are required to be on time unless there is a legitimate reason for a delay. Waiting for a ride to the airport is not a legitimate reason to keep a plane full of paying customers waiting. This is unacceptable!"

Had it not been for the passenger, Michelle Reppen and Angel Heard who jumped in with medical assistance, I don't know what would have happened to the passenger. Truly the worst flight experience in my life. Ticket agents are on their cell phones while assisting the passengers. They were not neat and clean. It was just awful!"
Cons: "During boarding officers were not cordial There appear to be some unfair treatment to me and my family. I was personally offended by the treatment we received. I do not think I will ever fly with Spirit airline again."

Cons: "A fair amount of turbulence. As a novice flier I wasn't sure if it was normal. But the passenger next to me was very experienced and started getting a little nervous and said what we were feeling was not normal. Also the trays were not level and 2 of the 3 passengers of my row ended up with wine spilling all over them because when you set a cup down it just slid right off. This was after we were at elevation and flat."

Not only did I waste my money on a plane for two tickets I had to rent a car to drive because the next flight out wasn't until tomorrow night! Never flying with spirit again! Worst experience ever!"

Pros: "The flight crew was friendly and had personality - that always makes for a more interesting and enjoyable flight. The flight itself went very quickly once we were in the air. It was easy for me to change seats at the gate had I wanted."
Cons: "Boarding took a long time (we waited in line after having our tickets taken for ~20 minutes before the plane actually started boarding). Despite being toward the back of the plane, I had to wait ~45 minutes for my bag to arrive at the luggage carousel."
Pros: "The crew got us home earlier"
Cons: "We got earlier to the gate but no gate to pull the plane in. Then the wait for luggage was terrible. At 12:30am at night to wait 40 min with children is terrible."
Pros: "The pilot was phenomenal. I loved the way he put everyone at ease with his jocular personality and sense of humor. He was very, very good. The fact that he flew that plane like it was made of paper was an added bonus. His landing was the smoothest I have ever witnessed and I flight a lot. It was like landing a marshmallow on a bed of cotton balls. It was smooth. I am not making this up. I will try to use Spirit every time I fly. The stewardesses (I guess they are still called that) were very friendly as well. Overall, a wonderful group of people."

The issue I have is that besides already being delayed, when we arrived in Detroit we had to wait an hour before we could get a gate that was opened and staffed. This is all happening after midnight so many of us on the flight have family and friends coming to pick us up at a very inconvenient time as it is, now they are waiting over an hour for us. Very disappointed in Spirit. I would hope that you would have your staff organized and managed a little better than this, being a major airliner in the state."

Cons: "Flight attendant gave me an unopened can of Can Dry Ginger Ale and cup with ice for $ 3.00. On opening the can, it blew up, overflowed and streamed down the tray and onto my pants. Not funny! I returned the can to her and she got me ample napkins. I asked her to open the replacement can....The lesson. Always ask the FA to open the can of pop/soda. First time this has happened to me... and the last. Cheers!"
Pros: "There was hardly any food or selection of drinks on the flight according to the attendants. Very disappointing."
Pros: "The gate agent was very short and snippy at 5:30 am. So, that kind of makes everyone else in a bad mood. Too bad, because nobody was really awake and was looking forward going to the cold North. She could have made it a more pleasant boarding time..."
