The experience was terrible. I reserved online (easily). arrived early, got in line, and scanned the QR code as requested to expedite my checkin. After entering my DL and CC information, I received an alert on phone telling me my reservation was confirmed and the pickup counter was Fast Break. What wa “Fastbreak?” I inquired and was told it’s a location across the parking lot and J could just pick up my car. I left the line and lugged my luggage across a very cracked and potholed parking lot with no walkway to FastBreak where the receptionist was extremely rude and told me I did not have a reservation. I showed her the message I received. She said I needed a number which I did not have. She told me to essentially help myself. I eventually found out I was at the wrong counter and I had no Fastbreak Number. I had no idea what that was but she refused to help me or even tell me what Fastbreak was even when I asked for an explanation. I would not have left my place in line if I had not received the notice in my phone. I went back to the Budget counter (note I had family in tow, with lots of luggage) across the broken parking lot, back to the line I had left, now twice as long (4 times as long as I was midway through the previous line). After over an hour, I finally picked up my car. Overall the pick up facility was in terrible shape. Only the lady who check me out as I drove off the parking lot offered a greeting and smile. There is no customer service elsewhere at the LAX location - everyone there seemed to either hate the customers or their job or both. The random erroneous email telling me to pick up at Fastbreak was a terrible idea for whoever put that in place. Also the bathroom is in terrible shape. The door is extremely damaged and nicked all over. The lady at the Miramar location where I dropped off the car was very sweet despite being terribly busy as a one man show for the location. Overall the electirc car was new, drove well. The outside was dirty (it had just rained, but the interior was clean. The price was great. I noticed during pickup at the airport, 6 shuttles from Alamo/Enterpise passed by before one old dirty bus from Budget came. (Note I had the same price offer from multiple car rental companies when I was booking and purposely picked Budget!) The shuttle driver was nice and appreciative of the tip I gave him. I recall telling myself multiple times during the experience, in the future, as long as I have other options, I would never choose Budget again. It was a very (and unnecessarily) unpleasant experience, especially after a overseas flight. I would also recommend anyone else from picking Budget, at least the LAX location. Hope this helps your team improve your operations.

Pros:

Staff at pickup was efficient and friendly.

Cons:

Car had low tire pressure warning light on at pickup. Tire lost pressure overnight. Drop off location as promised on reservation was closed with no drop box. Took car to other location, and they were unable to take me 3.2 miles back to the closed location due to COVID. Told me to leave keys with car dealer and they would pick up when they had a chance. Website info on drop off locations was incorrect. Limited weekend hours are problematic. I now don’t know whether my car has been returned and how much extra I will have to pay due to the inaccurate information provided. If your motto for years is “we will pick you up,”, you might want to notify folks that you are unable to do so more clearly.

Not switching me to a gas hogging mini van. Your website was supposed to put me in a Vera and instead I got a gas hogging minivan. At least you could have lowered my rate

Cons:

I had to clean the entire fan upon arriving at home after pick up. It appeared the van was vacuum but not wiped down or cleaned. There was dirt all over the seats and food in the cup holder. Really disappointing. Also the gas tank only had 5/8 of gas in it...

I LOVE THAT AT THIS LOCATION THERE IS PLENTY OF FREE SAFE PARKING TO LEAVE YOUR CAR WHEN PICKING UP YOUR RENTAL. The counter staff are especially friendly and go out of their way to make sure you get a car you will enjoy driving. Love them!!

This Hertz franchise closes at 4 p.m on weekdays. My reservation was made for 4p. You can imagine my surprise when arriving at 410p and finding that they were closed!

Pros:

Staff at pickup was helpful and friendly. Staff at dropoff were really helpful - he gave me a heads up about a pet cleaning fee when he saw dog hair in the back. He gave me the chance to vacuum and clean to avoid the fee. Dropoff was really quick. The pre-paid gas was a good deal.

Cons:

The car smelled like tobacco and the backseat had some crumbs. It was a little pricier than expected.

Once it was my turn, the key hand over process was quick. But there was one person working there and it was not an efficient system if you’re waiting in line.

The car was absolutely disgusting. I asked the staff that was scurrying me out the door if the car had been cleaned and sanitized as we are in the middle of a pandemic. He not only told me that it was clean, but that they used bleach. Complete and total lie! I wish I could post the pictures of the interior that I have on my phone. Not only did the vehicle appear to not have been cleaned in a decade, there were several items found in the back that must have belonged to the previous renters. Car spray to cover up marijuana stench, phone charger, etc...The staff was hurrying me out the door the second that I walked in and juked me into paying an extra $175 worth of insurance and damage waivers that he told me was absolutely necessary, which I found out later was not. Lies. I booked through Kayak and my total was $279. Received a bill for $481. I booked the car reservation on Kayak for a 9pm drop off on a Saturday. While at the Hertz, he entered a drop off on Saturday by noon. I looked at him and specifically stated that I have a reservation through Kayak stating a 9 pm drop off, not noon. He looked at me and said "Don't worry, I will be here all day and night Saturday. I don't want to have to go in and change it in my system. Don't worry, I'll honor your 9pm drop off." Guess what? No one was there when I dropped the car off at 4:30pm. I was charged an additional late fee. I cannot believe this place is still in business. I will never rent from this company again. I will pay any extra amount that I have to for a decent car and experience. Be very warned. They are not honest at this Hertz in Ann Arbor MI. Total crooks.

Location refused to honor reservation claiming I "didn't qualify" to use a debit card. Evidently location ran a (soft) credit check without disclosure or consent. I would recommend enterprise, especially if using a debit card

Pros:

not much. The car itself was fine. Reasonable gas mileage. Drove easily, but that was more on the car maker than on avis. I appreciated there being an ice scraper in the car, since it's snowy in Michigan, but I would've been happier had those I'm paying bothered to clear the ice off for me.

Cons:

Everyone was very slow in the pick up, I had to ask for extras when usually they are offered (the employee clicked all "declines" when actually I wanted to pay for gas and he had to run all the paperwork again, which meant I was stuck indoors with others during the pandemic for longer than I felt comfortable). There were fries on the seats, pop cans under the seats, and a used mask in the car (again, it's COVID. I had to touch it to throw it away). When I finally go to my drop off location (I had paid extra for this location because it was near my home and I didn't want to have to take the subway, COVID!), I was told it was full. They refused to accept the vehicle, despite me telling them I had a contract to return it to that location. In the end I had to drive it uptown---I am not an employee, I shouldn't have to drive your property around---and add an extra half hour to my walk after a 13 hour drive. I'll never use AVIS again, and I intend to write a few negative reviews. I paid for this experience, it's ridiculous.

Cons:

No clean cars available when I arrived. Was told they believed my reservation was cancelled and gave away my car. I arrived during business hours but was rushed out by the clerk. Ended up driving a dirty and old car for a week.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
