Book Avis car rentals in Calgary

• What is the best place to pick up an Avis car rental in Calgary?

Certainly, for those travellers who are flying to Calgary, renting a car at the large facility at Calgary International Airport (YYC) is a great choice because of the convenience this location offers. If you happen to already be in the center of Calgary and then decide you want to rent a vehicle, the Avis locations you will find on 16th Ave. NW, 9th Ave. SE, and 23rd St. NE all make quite convenient choices that let travellers get a great rental car without having to make their way back to a large international airport.

• What are some of the benefits of utilizing Avis car rental in Calgary?

Ask any renter that uses Avis on a regular basis, and they will tell you that one of the most beneficial reasons for using this company is their loyalty rewards program called Avis Preferred. This program not only allows you to earn points for every one of your rentals that you can use towards future discounts but also gives you perks like expedited pick up and drop off service plus complimentary upgrades.

• What are some places to park my car rental in Calgary?

Parking in suburban areas in the outskirts of town generally is not going to be that difficult because you usually find plenty of free on-street parking, although this can get more complicated during the winter when parking spaces may be covered by snow plows. The bigger issue is parking in the center of Calgary, where parking can be limited, and there may be a fee for parking. Fortunately, there are a large number of parking lots and garages where travellers can pay for extended stays in these locations, meaning it is quite easy to explore downtown Calgary without having to constantly come back to your vehicle to pay more money into a parking meter.

The car itself was clean, comfortable, and ready to go by the time I picked it up. However, I had some issues with the payment process. They required a physical credit card, which I understand, but I only had my credit card digitally available. Unfortunately, they did not offer another option, such as paying online at the counter, so I was almost left without a car. If you’re travelling, make sure you bring a physical credit card or pay in advance through the website to avoid being stuck without a rental. As for the protection plan, it was significantly cheaper through a third-party booking site. Avis charged around $48 per day when purchasing the protection at the counter, whereas through the third-party website, it was only $44 for the entire rental and was added to the total upfront rather than charged per day. Overall, the car and pickup were good, but I would strongly recommend reviewing the payment requirements and protection options carefully before arriving at the counter.Reviewed Aug 22 2026

Kia is a weird car - I was supposed to have gotten a Toyota. Plug-in for my GARMIN did not work and usb cable set up is poor. Hard car to get in and out of. Definitely would not take a Kia again. Staff were good.Reviewed Aug 5 2026
