It took 90 minutes to get my car. When I made the reservation, I answered all the quesitons, flight number and expected landing time. And my driver license number, and credit card info. I had to do it all over again at the counter, and it took over 11 minutes to process my chip card. The counter person said that they had to find my car, and after confirming my car, the payment would go through and whatever made up story she had. It was clear that the people behind the counter needed training, as a manager was running from person to person. and when we walked across into the Reno parking building, we were told 25 minutes, which became an hour before our car was brought out. They had to clean it. When I was growing up, Avis had a slogan, we try harder. Now, the slogan should be, go f*ck yourself, we don't care. This is another example of a bust out by a private investment group buying a company and bleeding it out in fees and debt.Reviewed Jun 21 2023

The car had been washed (very quickly I think, because it was not very clean and the inside had not been cleaned very well either), but it was comfortable. It came with gps which we didn’t expect, so that helped in getting around and to our next destinations. Overall, a good rental… just not very clean.Reviewed May 21 2023

Oversold mid size SUV (what I paid for and needed for mountain travel)- given minivan. Not safe, caused major travel issues for us. The only other option was a pick up with rear wheel drive. Not safe, won’t be using Avis again. I spent more for a specific type of vehicle and it wasn’t available. Not sure why they would over sell the vehicles and there is no direct line to the Avis Reno office to see if they received the vehicle we needed except driving in and talking to them face to face. This experience was awful. 1. The car type Kayak said I would receive when booking was different than the Avis confirmation email stated 2. I needed a ski rack so I called Avis national service number who suggested calling the local pickup location. I tried calling them 4 separate times at different times of the day but each time time I was rerouted to the national call center. The national car center said they would put a note in the system for the ski rack. 3. I also needed it to be 4WD or AWD as this was for a ski vacation and we were heading into the mountains. Same situation as above - national call center added it to a note on the reservation. 4. When I arrived to pick it up, they told them that there were no ski racks available, and no vehicles of that type with 4WD or AWD left in their inventory.Reviewed Feb 6 2023

The local Avis manager (Kevin something) seems to think that giving you a car 4 hours after your arrival means he "has cars to rent"... then you have to sit in line for nearly another hour waiting to get your rental washed because that's "Avis policy". Pros:We rented a convertible for my son's graduation since it was a drive through due to covid. And we're going to cruise around town and just enjoy the day. I rented the convertible weeks before. We get there the day of graduation and the gal proceeds to tell us there are NONE avaliable. I was so upset for him since this end of the school year was such a bummer. Pros:Drop off was fine.Cons:Car rented was not what was reserved (reserved midsize 4wd SUV, they put us in a larger 2wd SUV saying that was all they had). Check in process was slow. Car was clumsy but clean and functional.Reviewed Feb 12 2020
