Pros: The people at the office were very courteous and took good care of me.
Cons: I feel Hertz as a company should revisit the pre-paid fuel option. When I opted for this, it was not explained to me that I would not receive a refund for the fuel I had remaining in the tank. It turns out I didn't drive anywhere enough to make a sizable enough dent in the fuel tank for the full tank of gas I pre-purchased to be of any value. Making a policy that forces to people to pay you for what they didn't use is unethical and makes me question how that is legal. Thankfully, the people at the office worked it out for me, but I feel that policy is a bit of a scam.

Cons: I reserved the car well in advance. When I arrived at the Hertz airport desk after an on time 8pm flight arrival, I was told that my reservation was at a distant downtown location, but that it closed at 5:30pm. The airport Hertz office would rent a car for 2 1/2 times the price. They gave me a long, defensive explanation about how franchises work- I don't care- Hertz is Hertz. When you are provided with an address for an a city you haven't visited before, you do not have a context for proximity and I did not assume it would operate on bankers hours rather than traveler's hours. So much for sticking with a name brand company.Avis saved the day- thank you Avis
It is disappointing that I have to rent the third tier car to guarantee cruise control. I rented a compact and ended up on a 600 mile round trip WITHOUT cruise. The car was as basic as it gets. sounded like you were kicking a garbage can when you shut the door! My car wasn't ready when I arrived, it was out "picking someone up" is what I was told. The gas wasn't full, "just bring it back the same way" I was told.... Hello! That means I have to get gas before leaving town, or stopping before my destination to get enough to make it there!? That IS NOT good customer relations.
