When considering the ideal option of your car rental in Melbourne, it is important to consider what needs you have and what kind of experience you are looking for. Melbourne has beautiful coastal roads, some areas of heavy traffic, and crowded beaches. Travelers would do well to focus on a comfortable full-sized car. The car will not be too big or bulky to navigate in unknown areas. Also, a full-sized car allows for a comfortable interior and smoother driving experience down the Florida coast. If you’re traveling to Melbourne on vacation and you’re looking to drive in style, consider renting a convertible with an automatic roof to enjoy the sun and fresh air.
Drivers can expect to drive 30mph in residential, business, and municipal traffic areas. School zones drop down to 20mph. Drivers on interstates, highways, and freeways in the area should expect speed limits of 55 to 70mph. Drivers should be cautious for radar speed limit signs and some traffic lights equipped cameras near the city center and close to the airport.
Visitors should be prepared to spend a few dollars for parking while in Melbourne. This is especially true if visiting downtown or some of the beaches. Downtown Melbourne provides some on-street parking on New Haven Avenue, and there are multiple public parking garages sprinkled throughout the downtown area. However, many locations offer free parking as well. Several of the beaches provide free parking centers too. However, these areas are extremely popular, and it can be challenging to find a spot.

Cons:According to my reservation it included unlimited miles. Upon arrival I was told I had a 150 mile limit and roughly $0.50 per mile. Wasted my time and didn’t get to my destination.
Pros:Everything went great!
Cons:Keep-up the good work
Cons:Long wait to get car/keys. Overcharged and charged for services not used or agreed to.
8.0 Very good
Cons:Slightly higher charge than agreed due to taxws
Pros:The lady was very accommodating when we had an issue with the first car we had ( low tire pressure) was very easy to work with !
Cons:I canceled my Thrifty reservation (made 6 months prior) as I was staring at a line of 6 people ahead of me, in a mostly empty airport. The man working the counter at the Melbourne International Airport appeared to be extremely slow, and the line didn't move in the 10 minutes I stood there. I decided to quickly access carrentals.com, and found a car at an adjacent agency that had no line. They actually upgraded me from a Ford Focus to an Infinity Q-50. Long story short, the line took way too long. After getting off a plane with a toddler, I'm not waiting 20 minutes or more to pick up a reserved car. C'mon.

Pros:the staff was awful and I was unable to rent a car and had to go somewhere else!!
Pros:Staff called to make sure that I was still arriving late, then stayed until I arrived (probably an hour after he was scheduled to leave).
Pros:The guy in Melbourne was not customer friendly. Couldn't give me an idea where the car was in the mall parking lot. The parking lot couldn't find the car and finally said he couldn't speak English. I wandered around a mall parking lot for 15 minutes pushing the lock door button to hear a chirp.
Cons:The car was dirty and dusty. Had paint left off the rear driver window. Was left off from an auction???
8.0 Very good
Pros:Friendly staff member—Frederick
Pros:Nice location but could use more parking
Cons:No choice in cars and agent seemed as if I were a bother to him. I'll just stick with Alamo/National in the future.

Pros:The customer service was great. A very pleasant helpful staff.
Pros:Amazing suv, would rent again! Professional staff on both ends. The experience was incredible.
Cons:No negative comments at all.
Pros:The car was a 2017 Camry . It was a great driving car. Service was speedy and efficient . I would definitely recommend them.
Pros:The car was not ready in Melbourne. I called an hour before I arrived to make sure the car was ready, so our friends did not have to wait for us. Once we got to the car lot we wait an hour for the car to be cleaned. We were on VACATION not watching a car get cleaned lesson.
8.0 Very good
Pros:Staff all very nice and good price.
Cons:not a thing. Great experience.
Pros:The pick up was very nice, the drop off was a nightmare
Cons:Clear exact information on the rental.
Cons:Service center was overwhelmed both at pick up and drop off. Vehicle selection was poor at pick up.
Pros:Rob was very attentive and helpful. It was a slow day, so I got a free upgrade which made my trip so much more comfortable. I will definitely rent here again.
Pros:The check-in was smooth and quick. Had no hassles about supplemental insurance. Be sure to use your credit card for the rental. Mine has secondary car rental insurance. Mostly pleased with the Nissan Altima. Had two small dents that were noted but there were other scratches and one dent that was not highlighted. We took pictures of the scratches and the dent. Drop-off was quick and easy.
Cons:No obvious complaints. Price was more than I wanted to pay but competitive with other rental companies. Had a few extra expenses that blindsided me but cannot do anything about that. Final price was higher than expected by about fifty dollars.
Pros:The staff was friendly and worked with what they had, as it was not their fault personally.
Cons:No one answers the phone - I tried calling multiple times for it to go to a voicemail. When I arrived initially to pick up my rental car I was informed there was only one vehicle available and it was a massive SUV (I called the day before the rental to confirm a smaller vehicle would be available and was told yes and I was all good to go). The woman then informed me there was multiple additional charges being added to the rental agreement. I also had an issue with the vehicle during my rental period and could not get a hold of anyone at the rental company, so I went to the location and saw the employees are just sitting there IGNORING the phone ringing on purpose.
Pros:April was great and able to answer my questions about possible extending my rental. She even gave me her direct line if I needed to call.
Cons:The airport (MLB, Melbourne, Florida) doesn't have the best layout regarding where the rental cars are. Not Dollars fault though!
8.0 Very good
Pros:Took only a few minutes to check out and get the car on Christmas Day.
Cons:Auto maintenance. Car had a loud squeak when going over bumps and a loud rumbling at high speeds. it drove well, but needed maintenance.
Cons:Everything was good, but this survey didn't allow me to enter my opinion
Cons:My confirmation quoted a price... at my destination I was told that the confirmation was only an estimate! REALLY??
