Have insurance ready and know if you are going to go through tolls. I paid for daily tolls and only went through one day

Bit unusual driving on the other side of road. But you get used to it . The only thing different in usa is that most red lights you are allowed to turn right on . Apart from that easy and drivers very patient .

Try calling ahead o ensure the car you want is actually available. Avoid tolls if you can, very difficult to understand, as is parking....many different systems depending where you go
KAYAK’s top tips for renting a car in Melbourne
There are some important things to consider when it comes to making a decision about your Melbourne car rental. While this beautiful Florida coast town does have some public transportation, visitors should look into some of the local attractions that can only be accessed by a rental car. For example, Melbourne visitors are a short car ride from the Brevard Zoo and the Treetop Trail Aerial Adventures. This zoo boasts some treetop explorations with ziplines that would entertain all age groups. A rental car in Melbourne opens up short trips to beautiful spots like Paradise Beach, Whickham Park, and the Andretti Thrill Park.
Visitors who fly into Melbourne will arrive at the Orlando Melbourne International Airport. The car rental kiosks are located inside the terminal, conveniently by the baggage claim areas. The airport provides access to popular car rental companies, including Hertz, Alamo, Budget, and Enterprise. There is no need to travel from the terminal to get your rental vehicle because the rental car parking lot is just outside the airport.
One of the main hazards of driving in Melbourne is becoming distracted by the gorgeous vistas. Drivers should ensure that they are vigilant in avoiding the distractions of the scenery while at the wheel. Sometimes Melbourne has congested traffic during rush hour. From 7am to 9:30am, traffic can be crowded. The same situation is true from 4:30pm to 7pm. Some roads during rush hour that travelers should avoid are Lipscomb Street and Minton Road. If you’re on a schedule or trying to catch a flight, keep this in mind.
One aspect of visiting beach communities that should be known is that drivers should not drive their rental cars in the sand. Unless the vehicle is equipped with four-wheel drive, the car will quickly become stuck. Then, the renter may have to pay for a tow. Melbourne also is a victim of hurricanes during the hurricane season. Travelers should be aware that this area can become affected by tropical storms, where caution must be taken while driving in extremely wet conditions.
The drive from Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB) to downtown Melbourne will take approximately 10 minutes, around three miles away. However, cheap rental cars in Melbourne can take longer to arrive downtown, depending on the traffic. Get on Air Terminal Parkway and head about half a mile north towards Old 1st Street. Make a left to join W NASA Boulevard and continue for about half a mile, then turn right to Babcock Street. Drive less than a mile on the street before making a left onto E Hibiscus Boulevard. Continue for almost another mile, then take a right onto Waverly PI, which takes you downtown.
Familiarize yourself with the road rules before getting behind the steering wheel of cheap car rentals in Melbourne. For instance, in Melbourne, you can make a right turn after coming to a complete stop at a red light. This is unless a road sign is present forbidding right turns on a red light. Your vehicle’s headlights should be on from dusk, 30 minutes before sunset, and 30 minutes before sunrise. They should also be on when there’s rain or fog to help with visibility. A car seat is mandatory for any child below the age of five. All passengers in the vehicle should also strap their seat belts. Moreover, driving under the influence of alcohol in Melbourne is illegal. Ensure your blood alcohol concentrations are below 0.08% if you’re operating a vehicle.
Cheap car rentals in Melbourne give you the freedom to explore day trip attractions in Florida. Drive for about 1h 30min to Daytona Beach, which is approximately 90 miles north of Melbourne. Take a 1h 20min drive to the Walt Disney World Resort, about 75 miles west of Melbourne. North Peninsula State Park is about 105 miles north of Melbourne, with the drive taking about 1h 50min. The John D. MacArthur Beach State Park is also about 106 miles south of Melbourne, with the drive taking about 1h 50min.

Since I was under the impression that car rentals at airports didn’t charge a deposit I didn’t have enough to cover it and left without the car

The staff was fine. It was very busy and They had no cars I had to wait n line for an hour to get my car then when I got to counter. They gave me an economy car that was super smal. I had paid and rented a premium car. She said it would be another 45 minutes for the car I paid for. I feel like I wasted money and could have rented from another company that was actually cheaper and no wait.

Supplier choice
The supplier choice is apparently an EV even though I didn’t select the EV option. They require you to bring the car back charged. For a one day rental to the airport, that is not realistic. I was also charged for gas, which I had stopped near the airport and filled up. I eventually got a credit but the whole thing was a hassle and didn’t leave me feeling good about renting from Budget in the future.

They were short on cars, but found one. Was happy to that point. But wouldn't accept our insurance. The online price ($11 a day, I think) would have been ok, but the only way I would have been allowed to rent at the desk was to purchase a $39 a day package. About 70% more than the base price for the car. Opted not to rent. Suggestion: If the customer does not opt for insurance online, allow them to enter their insurance company right then to see if it's approved. Sorry we couldn't do business.
The associate did not clarify what the pre purchased full tank is a full tank no matter how much you use- manager said sorry

It took over an hour to get to the desk. There were two people working on a Friday at noon. When I finally did get to the counter the car I reserved was not there as budget had no more cars available at the location. So the car that I reserved the night before wasn’t there. When asked why get a reservation if it doesn’t grantee a car I got an attitude and no answer. After trying to find another rental car with a different company I was forced to take a 80 dollar uber ride to my destination. While waiting on my uber ride there was the budget associate smoking a cigarette while the line was still ridiculously long. Always used Budget in the past and it was my go too for rentals. Unfortunately after this experience and extreme disappointment in the reservation not holding my car I will not rent from budget again.

They canceled 20 minutres after I went online and made the appointment. Then I tried to contact your company Kayak and did not refund the insurance. I also had to pay for a Uber cancellation. Very bad experience I personally will never utilize your company/app. ever again and I will warn other truck drivers and veterans about bad service who neglect their customers.
