KAYAK’s top tips for renting a car in Port Charlotte

  • If you need to go to places outside of Port Charlotte's downtown often, you may want to consider car rentals in Port Charlotte. Among the many forms of public transportation, the Metro bus is among those that cease operation on the weekends and holidays. Having a personal vehicle is preferable than relying on public transportation in certain scenarios, such as using a specific bus route outside of rush hour. When compared to public transportation options like the bus or train, hiring a vehicle service offers several advantages. If you want to see everything that Port Charlotte and the surrounding region have to offer, renting a car is the best option, rather than walking or using public transportation.
  • Most of Port Charlotte's roadways are safe to travel on. However, there are some roads that require more caution than others as you drive in your cheap car rentals in Port Charlotte. Tamiami Trail, a major road winding through the city, is known for its dangerous intersections and high-speed limits. US-17 is a major four-lane highway that runs through the city and is also known for its high-speed limits and dangerous intersections. The US-41 Bypass is a long stretch of road that runs around the perimeter of the city and is known for its blind curves, lack of guardrails, and narrow lanes.
  • You can access car rentals in Port Charlotte at Punta Gorda Airport. Since Alamo, Avis, Budget, and Hertz all have locations at the Punta Gorda Airport, it is quite simple to rent a vehicle there. Therefore, getting a rental automobile at this airport is a sensible choice to make. As a means of verifying a renter's age, each and every one of these businesses demands a current driver's license. In addition, you will need to provide a current credit card as well as a driver's license that is still in good standing. Drivers from other countries are required to provide both their national driver's license as well as an International Driver's Permit.
  • There are a number of major local roads in Port Charlotte that make getting around in your Port Charlotte car rentals a breeze. The Veterans Highway is one of the main roads that runs along the west side of the city and provides access to nearby Punta Gorda. Tamiami Trail is another major road that connects Port Charlotte to Sarasota and Tampa. US 41 runs through the center of the city and provides access to the northern and southern parts of the area. Another major road is Midway Boulevard, which connects Port Charlotte to North Port and Punta Gorda. Peachland Boulevard is another major local road that serves as a main artery for the city, running through the city center and connecting to the other major highways.
  • If you want to enjoy roads, you should use Port Charlotte car rentals. Since the roads in Port Charlotte are kept in good condition and the people who drive here are polite, getting about the city is not difficult at all. Driving defensively is quite crucial in this city since the majority of the highways travel straight through heavily populated neighborhoods. Drivers who are operating vehicles that were manufactured after the year 2000 are strongly encouraged to engage in safe driving practices. These include maintaining a distance of at least three meters between their own vehicle and the one in front of them, signaling turns and lane changes whenever it is safe to do so, and remaining in the lanes that were assigned to them whenever it is feasible to do so.
  • Ensure you are aware of your car provider's toll policy before renting your car from cheap car rentals in Port Charlotte. Port Charlotte has two main toll roads: the Punta Gorda Bypass and the Mid-County Parkway. The Punta Gorda Bypass is a highway that runs along US 41 from the intersection of Rte. 776 and US 41 to the intersection of I-75 and US 41. The Mid-County Parkway is a highway that runs from Murdock Circle to US 41, just south of I-75. Both toll roads are located in the southwest corner of the county, with the Punta Gorda Bypass running along US 41 and the Mid-County Parkway running along the east side of the county.
  • One of the numerous low-cost service providers that Port Charlotte offers is Port Charlotte car rentals, which might be a wonderful option if you are searching for a fast and simple method to fulfill your thirst for adventure on a budget. There are probably a lot of automobile rental agencies to choose from within a comfortable driving distance. More freedom in terms of when and where you travel is yours for the taking when you rent a vehicle for the duration of your vacation. This is because, many of the world's top visited attractions are not conveniently located near a major airport. Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park is a great place to go out and see the sights.

The KIA Seltos met all my expectations - cleanliness, cost and the car itself. Rental return was excellent on May 1. Experience getting the vehicle on April 1 was terrible! Took close to an hour to get waited on. No one was at the Budget Rental counter for the longest time. Also never informed this was a Budget rental car and needed to go to that counter.

The price was great but the pickup was unacceptable. It was a 2 1/2 hour wait in line at the counter to pick up the car. We missed our dinner with friends because of the wait. I will never use Avis/budget in Punta Gorda again. There was only one person at the counter for the first 2 hours of waiting time.

I had a pretty frustrating experience with Budget. The pickup process was extremely slow—it took about 30 minutes to get my car, even though there were only two people ahead of me in line. That felt unnecessary and poorly managed. Drop-off wasn’t any better. The location was confusing and not clearly marked, which made returning the vehicle more stressful than it should have been. To make matters worse, I was charged $22.06 for gas even though I made sure to fill up the tank right before returning the car. That was really disappointing and felt unfair. Overall, not a great experience. I’d think twice before renting from Budget again.

This is the worst counter for car rental. I waited over 2 hours in a long line of about 25-30 people to finally get my rental car which was supposed to be a mid size SUV and was a cross-over size. The employees working had zero sense of urgency and zero customer service skills. In fact a customer asked what the hold up was and both employees responded rudely and one threatened to walk out and then no one would get their vehicles and called all the customers rude.

I reserved a full size and got a smaller car. The exterior was not clean, had scuff marks and a very poor paint touch-up job. The inside smelled stale- like lingering smoke. I went with Hertz expecting better quality but did not receive it. But pick-up and drop-off was easy.
