I did not get my truck. The Kayak website allowed me to book a vehicle that was not available and I didn’t find out until I was at the counter. The attendant let me know that they did not have any trucks or vans anywhere in San Antonio this Weekend. That was extremely stressful and frustrating.

They overbooked for the day and were stressed upon pickup. They never gave us instructions for drop off and never mentioned their office would be closed. They charged us for the full amount disregarding the $74 I had already paid and weren’t available upon drop off to resolve the matter.

We got to pick up station, and a few more folks showed up to help as there was only 1 person there when we arrived. We reserved small SUV but were told ALL the suv's were gone, but could choose from any car there. That left us with 1 dirty and 3 clean Nissan Sentras, a BMW sedan or a Mecedes sedan to choose from. We chose a clean Sentra, which is a long way from an SUV. Car was clean and good mpg, no way was I taking one of the German rides.

The car had only 1/2 tank of gas when I picked it up. Unfortunately I didn’t notice until I was down the road - and I bought the fuel service option!

I liked that they were open at one in the morning. I HATED that they basically forced me to take an electric car. The man at the counter said I was lucky AVIS would rent to me at one in the morning and I could take it or leave it. I did NOT reserve electric. I was told I needed to return it fully charged or pay $35 penalty - where on earth was I supposed to do that with a flight the next day early? Terrible, terrible experience.

Both the experience at the counter and drop off were great. The attendant at the counter had a small issue with her work station as we were the first customer of the day and the screen did not light up for me. She moved to another workstation and got us on our way. The car had an open RedBull can in it that I disposed of. Otherwise it was great.

They cancelled my vehicle at 5pm the day before and left me to find another vehicle . That facility then let me know around 1030am , while we were confirming with another rental company. Very poor customer service

After my flight was delayed and I didn’t get to the rental office till 1 AM. They told me because I was using a debit card. They couldn’t rent it to me nowhere did it say anything in the booking process? I couldn’t use a debit card so I waited six hours for another dealership to open so I could rent a car at the airport

Experience with the San Antonio Budget airport staff was phenomenal. They were very accommodating and helpful. It was quite inconvenient that they did not have the car I reserved available because of a conference. I'm not quite sure what the point of booking a vehicle is if it's not held for you. I had to go back 2 days in a row after pick up to check if the car I booked was available. I eventually received it, but it was a hassle and interrupted my days.

Staff was friendly when we got to them, but note that in San Antonio, Payless doesn't have their own staff. They use AVIS staff.

Cons:

The wait to get the vehicle was ridiculous, it was unclear at first that we had to go to the Avis counter because there was NO ONE at the Payless counter.
