Car was stinky and smelled like smoke, there was food or something smeared on one of the seats. Guy at the counter tried to upsell me a bunch of unnecessary insurance and services that I repeatedly told him I didn’t want, but he insisted I needed it.Reviewed May 17 2023

The 2018 Rogue was fine. The two hour wait in line to get a vehicle was awful out of the George HW Houston airport. Also, wasn’t a fan of the agent hard selling the optional insurance. Multiple “no thanks” was met with a “so you just want the basic insurance “? Nope. Then the look given to me of having just made a huge mistake was also off putting. Again, vehicle was fine and the price was great! Returning was very efficient!Reviewed May 2 2023

Upon arrival there were 400 people in line for pickup. It took over 3 hours to get the the counter. When I got to the counter I brought my itinerary which had the price I still owed, around 56 dollars. The representative said I needed to buy their coverage on top of the final price. I told her I've never had to do that because I have personal insurance to cover car rentals. I asked if she would like to see my my insurance card and she said no. She told me because I booked through a third party app, this was just the way it is and I'd need to pay the added cost. When I was looking at the receipt the next day, it said it was an additional charge. Final price at pickup became 101 dollars. I tried calling their customer service line, but there isn't an option to discuss your rental agreement. I just feel deceived. I won't use Dollar ever again and will ask for management if I'm told that's "just the way it is".Reviewed Apr 18 2023

When I arrived at the rental center, the line for Dollar wrapped around the entire building and no one was working at the counter. Rather than wait for an hour or more, I attempted to cancel my rental, only to find that Dollar had already charged my credit card. I’m currently in the process of disputing the charges with my credit card company.Reviewed Mar 25 2023

The Dollar rental agency said they were "out of cars" when I got to the desk (even through they were renting cars to others in front of me and to those after me when I left the desk). Therefore, they said that I had to pay approximately $200 more than the rental agreement was made for. This is because they HAD to UPGRADE me to a higher priced car. I said that they didn't need to charge me more because they were low on vehicles. They said that because I made the agreement through KAYAK that it was an issue that I had to address with KAYAK and that they would not honor the contracted agreement. I guess I am not going to be using KAYAK again. I ended up canceling the contract that I made through KAYAK when at the Dollar rental desk and walked over to the Hertz desk and got a different car for $20 more than the price I was contracted with through KAYAK at the Dollar agency and went on my way. Was issued a 'similar' sized vehicle that was smaller than the Nissan Rogue signed up for. I checked the dimensions, a Ford Escape has smaller interior than Nissan Rogue. You claim its the same, reality says smaller. Vehicle smelled like smoke when we got in. I understand you charge people extra if they smoke in the vehicle? Is this just to maximize profits? Price of the car was good. Counter agent made a mistake on my booking and I had to drive back to the airport to get it fixed. There should be a contact number to the station instead of wasting gas and time for a situation that is the agents mistake.Reviewed Aug 15 2022

The cashier lied to me and said my class of car was not available at pickup. I went to pick a lower class car and the person in the garage said there were two of my class available. She said cashiers do that because they upgrade people and make a commission. Horrible policy! Terrible customer service. Tires were nearly bald and need to be changed - safety concern. The vehicle was way underpowered. 4-cylinder engine in a full size SUV, really? We were driving in the Rocky Mountains and the vehicle could barely handle it. Waited in line for over 45 mins to be told that there would be a wait with no ETA for our vehicle, even with a reservation. We could not wait due to our travel plans, so went over to Hertz, who was incredibly helpful and got us a vehicle right away. Do not rent from Dollar!Reviewed Jul 22 2022
