Pros:

Easy drop off. Great gas mileage.

Cons:

Car was filthy at pickup. “Maintenance required” indicator light every time car was started. Flat tire I had to resolve on my own. Paid for Premium (“Maxima or similar) and was assigned mid-sized Rav4.

Pros:

At drop off point a mile from airport we were going to have to get a ride to the airport. The agent told us we could drop the car at the airport and save us from getting a ride. He was very friendly and helpful.

Nothing I couldn’t even pick up my rental and they had my reservation canceled

Cons:

Being up front with their fees, I went in with the misguided notion that my reservation would be honored at the amount agreed on. Instead I was charged my reservation amount with an additional “company policy fee” of $400 on top of what I was already paying for the actual rental. My $300 rental had now come out to over $700. I almost missed my own mother’s funeral. Thank you for your service Alamo!

Pros:

Friendly staff. Easy drop off. Good gas mileage for an SUV. Clean vehicle.

Cons:

It was supposed to be filled up but was only at 1/4 tank. Had to go back so they could fill it. Still wasn't filled completely. Lots of scratches to outside of vehicle, including vandalism of the paint job. Was supposed to seat 7, with luggage. Not as much space as advertised.

Pros:

Very friendly and helpful. They dug out the car after a snow storm without complaint. Had the car ready to go.

Cons:

I was not familiar with the car, a little tutorial would have been the cherry on top. Otherwise, it was a positive experience.

Pros:

Nothing. They didn't have a car for me. I booked online, I payed the deposit, I showed up to pick up the car and they told me they didn't have anything for me, that they wouldn't honor my booking, wouldn't refund my deposit, and I was forced to spend $250 to buy a ticket for a 26 minute flight.

Cons:

Everything. Having the car that I booked, and if not, refunding the deposit.

The Hertz process for extending your vehicle is very difficult - anything after 6pm is very difficult to contact support and speak with an actual human - the automated call center is extremely frustrating as it continuously prompts you deal with it online, and when trying to do online bookings/ vehicle rental extensions, it routes you back to call the same call center number -UGH what a nightmare! Ended up charging me for 2 extra days - smacking me with huge overage fees and additional $200 deposits. All other parts of this rental experience were relatively nice.

The service at hertz could have been better. The women behind the desk didn’t explain a lot. I found out that I had paid a additional 250 dollars. I had to find out myself that I get this money back when returning the car. It was nice if they had told this to me.

The car was a mustang convertable which is fun of course but a 2 door and with a smallish trunk and inappropriate for dirt roads 😂 My only complaint really is we were charged an extra unexpected $30+ airport tax at check in

I missed my connecting flight and couldn't pick up the car on time. Due to a full-day tour that I scheduled for the 2nd day, I couldn't go get the car till the 3rd day. Their policy is that they would hold the car for 24 hours but then nothing is guaranteed afterwards. The person at Hertz Flagstaff location who helped us managed to get us a car even though the kind we booked was not available anymore. The car we ended up having is really fun to drive and we had a great time for the remainder of the trip!

Clean car, friendly staff.

Cons:

Too long of a line to pick up the rental. There were 5 people ahead of us in line at the Flagstaff airport, and with one person behind the counter it literally took 45 mins to wait for our car.

Upgraded to a SUV just in case we ran into snow problems. There were 18" of snow the day before. We were very happy with rental. Personnel at the airport were very helpful.

Pros:

Customer service at the counter was great-- very friendly and helpful staff! I ended up getting a much nicer car than I had originally reserved due to low inventory at the same price as my original rental. The car was absolutely perfect and I had a blast enjoying the freedom it gave me while I was on my trip.

Cons:

The underage driver charge is rough, but that was to be expected. Additionally, there wasn't very much flexibility in drop off location for a cancelled flight-- driving the car from FLG to PHX would have doubled the cost of my rental just to turn the car in at a different location.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
