Was a great location, parked the car when we arrived on Saturday, spent 2 nights and were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go in Newport.
Cute Inn, very close to downtown. The room was small but nice, definitely has the inn charm and history.
the hotel was near all the facilities . I would have prefered a room in the main house but the room i was allocated was nontheless clean and comfortable.
The location is good to reach centre of Newport for Restaurants and bars. Size of the room is very small. A musty smell of the place (in September). The staff was not friendly, just businesslike.
Charming quiet rooms & great location, 200m from great restaurants/bars. Staff very helpful.
The staff were friendly, the room was spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable. The continental breakfast was also pretty good. The en-suite was tiny in relation to the size of the room, the shower had nowhere to put the soap or shampoo which was a bit of a nuisance, but one does not spend 24/7 in the shower room......
Clean room, quiet area.
Relaxed atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff.
Wonderful character - ful inn with great staff. Extras included wine and cheese in the early evening - a real treat nothing negative to stay
Friendliness Parking, happy hour wine Very tired looking and extremely noisy room due to some pump
Everyone was very nice. Just attentive enough. The location was amazing; short walk to all of downtown. No two rooms are alike. So gorgeous. Free, convenient parking! Very familiar, comfortable atmosphere.
the personal service and small number of rooms (5)
The style, comfort and relaxing atmosphere afforded an ideal opportunity to recharge our batteries. Breakfast was amazing!
Beutiful historic house in a quiet road just a short walk from all sea front and harbour.Mark was an excellent host.Breakfast was cooked freshly for each guest by Mark who took time to answer questions and give directions and vadvice on a variety of questions.Thank You All at Marshall Slocum
Everything is perfect here.
Excellent. Accommodation comfortable in a very pleasant Inn. Very personable staff, and Mark makes an excellent breakfast. Thoroughly recommended. Nothing to do with the MArshall Slocum Inn, but if visiting Newport, beware parking restrictions ( I didn't !!!)
the Inn staff greeted us at the door and showed us to our room on the top floor. It was a quaint room with a nice clean bathroom and an armoir for hanging up clothes. There were three rooms on the top floor and all reserved. We missed breakfast due to an early start but the menu looked delicious!
The food and reception are wonderful. The rooms are quaint, clean and well decorated. This is what you want and expect from a New England beach B&B.
There was a jacuzzi tub in our room. There was a nice sitting area next to the bed with a nice window to look out of, however my husband didn't want to sit in them because he thought he might break them. We were able to eat breakfast outside on a deck. The blueberry pancakes were delicious. I liked the checkout time and the times available for breakfast. There was no meat with the breakfast. There was no TV in the room. The bathroom was tiny. The room had a high bed and I needed to use the step stool to get in it.
The location is ideal, just a short walk into the downtown and harbor area, and right off Bellevue Ave. The Inn is charming and comfortable, and the host and hostess, as well as the staff, are friendly and very helpful. The room was immaculate, and the breakfast, on the deck, was delicious. We can't wait to come back! My husband would have liked a television in the room, but I know bed & breakfasts usually do not have them.
nice accomodations, gracious hostess, great location
Excellent location, lovely period detached building with free parking. Walking distance to all attractions. Nice comfortable bed and crisp linens. Two of the bedrooms are located on the ground floor near the communal breakfast area. Breakfast starts at 7.30 pm and can be quite noisy - impossible to sleep late if in these rooms! Also the wooden floors in the room above our room meant lots of noisy footsteps. It would have been nice to have two chairs in our room rather than just one as the bed was too high too sit on.
Great location, very nicely appointed common areas
Great location. Enjoyed the visits with proprietors. They were helpful with local information and very accommodating.
The Inn was very clean, everything in the room worked fine. Towels were very plush, bed linens fine, clean and fresh. The Innkeepers were very hospitable, friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast terrific. 3rd floor deck overlooking Newport wonderful.
Excellent location and value for the area. Very clean and friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again. Nothing.
The suites were absolutely beautiful, very tastefully decorated and I just didn't want to get out of the bed it was so comfortable! The lobby is very utilitarian and does not relfect the high standard of the rooms. It could put off walk-ins from staying there, which would be a shame.
Great location for "foot" touring! Staff very helpful and friendly. Housekeeping leaves much to be desired!
Location was very nice The building is older so you hear lots of little noises
Great location, very pleasant staff, wonderful view, very nice rooms
Location is great and staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate. Stayed 3 nights. Bed was extra extra firm... it was so hard we were unable to sleep on it the first night. When we complained, they offered us another room but that bed was just as hard. To their credit, they purchased a topper for the bed. Topper helped some but still hard as a rock. Wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you enjoy sleeping on slab of granite.
Authtentic atmosphere ,large rooms more like suites, breakfast area with splendid views over the harbour. Nice crew and location spot on.Place to return.
Awesome location, excellent value (for the time of year), very friendly staff, cute and cozy room
The rooms were very very comfortable with an excellent view of the bay. The location was ideal and the staff were very friendly. There was unlimited use of the dining/common room with coffee and tea through the day. Would definately recommend this hotel. Breakfast was ordinary, but the location/staff/comfort made up for it.
Nice room no
The owner Brian is a great guy. He has a good housekeeping staff. The breakfast is very limited, its like a miniature continental breakfast. The room is super small for the price you pay. Its just a room with an attached bath.
Great owner who told us about the best things to do in the area. In very close walking distance of the main street. Cute B&B and great little breakfast.
Location, clean room Parking was not included in price even though their parking rate was a lot cheaper than using public parking. The breakfast wasn't really much of even a continental breakfast, but we knew this before we booked it.
Owner was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Check-in time was flexible, and parking was just a block away. Adorable layout in room. Location couldn't be beat, in the heart of all the action and within walking distance to everything. Room was tidy, but not clean. Shower had used soap in it from previous occupant and hair on the floor. Utensil bin in the kitchenette had a nail file in it. Filthy potholder with crusted food on it. Bedding smelled musty and had hairballs.
Great location, near everything. The furniture was dusty, shower stall was dirty. No office personnel on site, a friendly resident showed us around, explained this is really off-season and not staffed as it would be in season.
Perfect spot at the crossroads of Thames Street and Memorial Blvd..Withing easy walking distance of downtown Newport. The mansions do require a car to get to.
The hotel is charming and amazing location. Brian and his staff were so helpful and accommodating. A very informal, friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Not a thing...we will be back!
Location. You are right in the middle of the action. It doesn't get any better at this price if you want to be close to the fabulous party atmosphere of downtown Newport. The price point is excellent compared to what is out there. A lot of the appurtenances are old (and not in the antique sense). Just dingy. They could really use the feminine touch in a little bit of minor redesign. For instance the carpet treads on the stairs really set poorly. Ditto the bedspread, and carpeting
The innkeepers were very hospitable and really offered a wealth of information on Newport, things to see and do, and so on. They really went out of their way to make sure we were at our most comfortable, providing a lovely breakfast every morning and tea every afternoon. The rooms themselves were great, the beds were comfortable and the space was cozy. We thoroughly enjoyed the garden and patio areas. It really was a lovely experience overall and certainly was a great value.
Lovely place to stay, very clean, warm and helpful staff, delicious breakfast and baked goodies.
Very comfortable, affordable and great staff. Parking
The Innkeeper, Cindy, was very accomodating and created a great breakfast.
Good atmosphere with friendly staff No choice of entree for breakfast
Beautiful bed and breakfast with excellent facilities in the room and a good breakfast buffet plus helpful staff with good local knowledge.
Proximity to downtown and woaterfront Little investment into building carpeting, wallpaper or furnishings. Windows are painted shut. Check-in takes place in a building on the other side of town.
The tub and seperate shower were great. It was very relaxing soaking in the tub. I was very upset when we arrived. We were not put up in the room that we booked and were comfirmed with. We never recieved notification that the change was made.
The room was beautifully appointed, we love the sea side New England B&B feel, beautiful room. The jacuzzi was awesome, and very smart with a speaker in the bathroom...perfect! Very romantic! The bed was really comfy too, really comfy for any type of lodging. Loved it! Our room was a little loud with street noise in the morning, but I think that room may be the only one that gets the noise that would bad...We really loved the place though and go back.
the lady who made our breakfast was so nice the location was noisy. the decor from a bad 70's movie
Great location My husband and I were the only guest staying at this bed and breakfast; we found it a little lonely. No one was there to greet us or give us info on area (or to let us know where ice was located). We had to go to another location to get keys and eat breakfast. No bathrobes were provided (as stated online). Did receive them next day at 6:30 pm after we asked that morning.. Jacuzzi tub had sand at the buttom and jets seemed to be moldy. The cleaning people did come back and cleaned the tub.
Great location, large jacuzzi and a large bathroom. Did not have breakfast, but heard it was great. Staff was attentive. The room was on the small side and there was some shabbiness about the place. Stains on a drop (yuck) ceiling, chips on bathroom fixtures. Plastic cups at this price! And the hearth was not cleaned.
The location to the shopping area was great, not a far walk at all. We also enjoyed the jacuzzi The Inn was old and could have used some esthetic updating. The breakfast was run of the mill. Not really worth the money spent. Also our room was changed without our knowledge. We didn't find out til we got there and had no other choice
Great location, hands off staff, a little run down, really uncomfortable bed with non fitting bedclothes, isn't as luxury as it looks in the add, pretty expensive for what you get I'm afraid
The location is perfect. Right in the middle of old Newport, on the waterfront near shopping and great eating. Check in at a different location.
i liked the people working there, the bathroom, the breakfast, and the location price a bit high, parking tight, some cobwebs in room and bath, and a/c works just ok
We had a fantastic time at the Attwater - the rooms were modern and comfortable, the breakfast each day was a gourmet surprise. The location worked well for us - a 5 minute walk into downtown and 15 minutes to the Cliff Walk entrance. Only two negatives in our entire experience. There was some, but not a great deal, of noise from other rooms at the hotel. Noise was never an issue, but rather a small distraction. Also The bathroom in our unit (in the beach house) was small.
