Generally good overall experience with Alamo. No issues with vehicle rented. The car I reserved wasn't available when I arrived at Alamo. The worker arranged for an "upgrade" that upgraded the cost by adding $70 to the cost of the rental, not including fees. Wasn't expecting this. Wish I had other options but needed the rental car so agreed to the extra charge. That was the biggest negative with this rental experience.

The vehicle I reserved had an inoperative AC compressor. Alamo quickly substituted an equivalent vehicle but the new car was EXTREMELY dirty from the previous family and had not likely been cleaned by Alamo. I was in an rush to depart for our family trip so I could not take the time to have Alamo clean the car. During the course of the rental period, I detailed the interior which was filthy and washed the outside of the vehicle. As I was returning the car at Orlando International Airport, the attendant asked me if I was happy with the rental. I explained what happened and what I had done. He instantly apologized and then offered to compensate me with a discount on the rental. I was overwhelmed and shocked that he would offer that to me without my asking. It shows how serious Alamo is about customer satisfaction. I would rent from Alamo any time I am on travel. Keep up the great work!

I initially reserved some kind of Jeep. The website offered an upgrade to a BMW X2, which is a lot smaller. At the counter I told them I needed to carry 3 people and luggage. The back only held 2 suitcases, so the third had to go in the back seat. The only option they had to get something bigger would have cost a lot more per day. I should not have upgraded. The employee only gave me options for full coverage or basic coverage, not no coverage. I think that is very deceptive. After arriving at my hotel I called about exchanging it for something bigger and was told I would receive a call or email in 24-36 hours. I never received a call or email. Overall I was very disappointed in this company.

My flight was canceled due to hurricane Ian. I tried to move my reservation a week later, had to deal with them via email, which was extremely slow and inefficient. Was not able to simply change the reservation dates. I have been trying for days to get a refund for the reservation because of the hurricane that canceled my travel plans. So far, nothing. If you need to deal with the customer service for this company, good luck.

the employee at the counter lied about insurance being mandatory in Florida and about which insurance he added. then he wasted my time trying to sell unnecessary options when all I wanted was to get the car and be on my way.

Not good. Car was in need of maintenance. No windshield washer fluid, tires were out of balance and so car/steering wheel vibrated the whole time, tires were over inflated. Also, upon check in, Hertz rep at MCO wanted to charge us an additional rate for my spouse to also drive when I am a Gold member.

Hertz gave us the wrong car and insisted that this is the car we booked. We booked a car with two full suitcases and 7 passengers. They gave us a gmc acadia which did not fit 7 with 2 suitcases. Kayak showed us prices with tax included but hertz said the price did not include tax and they charged us tax on top.

The gentleman in Orlando was extremely helpful! Anyone we spoke to on the phone was not. I called one of the 1800 numbers and the woman was rude and didn’t help much. The woman at the a Philadelphia location was not helpful either. Seemed like I was inconveniencing them with questions. Not good customer service.

Only had option of an EV, have never driven one before. When renting online, should mention this possibility. Person at pickup counter not very helpful, only there to upsell. Didn't mention to check transponder if on/off or how much charged the EV should be on return.

I typically do not write reviews, but this experience was beyond irritating. I went to the counter already pre-checked and on the budget app, which made no sense because I had to redo everything again to counter and added a bunch of items to my bill without even asking me, for example, he told me to click the screen five times. OK if I did not read it it said I was being charged for refill gas, which was an additional $90 so please be weary once you go to the counter and they will try to get you for everything if you don’t pay attention to your bill when I got to the vehicle, it was disgusting had stains all over the seat doors inside were all sticky, I would never run this place again

When I booked with you all the description said "Unlimited Kilometers" But when I got to the rental car place they said they would not honor that. They tried to charge me another fifteen dollars and change PER day for miles over 150. This is very dissatisfying, they said that it is because Kayak is a third party... It is really disappointing that your listing was wrong and the rental was going to be over three times the price I paid on your website. I always love Kayak and your my first place I look for hotels and cars and flights... but this was bad.

Staff was actually friendly and efficient this time. We often hesitate to rent from Fox because they have some of the slowest staff, but this time was quite quick. We got a GREAT value for our SUV and paid less than half what we would have paid from another agency. The car was clean and in great working order.

I never made it to the reservation counter to pick up my car. The Fox car rental location was offsite and not at the airport. After waiting 20 minutes for the shuttle, it never arrived. I had to order another car last minute from a competing rental car distributor that was on-site at the airport.

I was charged for gas when I brought it back full. The pick up was late and I wanted a late delivery but I was charged. They tried to give me a lessor vehicle when I arrived and I had to fight to just get an equivalent to what I ordered rather than a smaller vehicle. The attendee tried to sell us a private deal so I suspect you already know that your staff also work for themselves. This has really left a bad taste with me. I would be glad to share my gas receipts less than a mile from the drop off. Never again Fox and I will share my story with others.

The whole experience was a disaster. The shuttle driver drove 80 mph on a 35 road, fell asleep at the wheel. The rental facility was in disrepair with wasp swarming around. They didn't provide a contract or terms until after booking the rental and arriving at the counter. The story goes on longer than I have time to explain. Avoid them at all costs

We came 2 hours early to get our car and had to book an additional day (to have a minivan instead of the car we had chosen) because we were told they had no cars available (even though the lot was full). The main reason we chose this rental agency was to save money, so this defeated the purpose. Also, although there were 3 people there not busy, no one offered us help. More importantly though, the check engine light came on multiple times during the trip, and the car smelled kinda bad (like it hadn't been cleaned in a while). We're going to be sticking to Enterprise or National from now on.

The reservation company took my money and made the reservation with NU Car. When I went to pick up the car they refused to give me the car stating that I was a Florida state resident and they did not rent to Fl state residents. Says it is in their contract and it absolutely was not!!!! The reservation company could not find it either. I did get my money back but was without a car again. Will never use NU Car again. Reservation company was awesome, not NU Car.

We originally booked our pick up time for 8:00 pm, but circumstances changed so I phoned to see if the pick up time could be changed to 3:00 pm. The person I spoke to said she would have to see if there would be a mini van available at 3:00 pm and put me on hold for a short time. When she returned to the phone she said, yes , we could change the time as a mini van would be available at 3:00 pm. Nothing in the original booking prepared us for the fact that the rental office was 15 minutes from the airport and when we got there at 3:00 pm, we were informed that there was no change to our rental time and that we would have to wait until 8:00 pm to pick up our minivan. The only option we were given was an upgrade which doubled the rental amount. Since we were sitting in the middle of nowhere and had five hours to wait, we felt we had no choice and paid for the upgrade. This extra charge put the rental amount on par with firms who actually have their pick up stations at the airport. The employees that I spoke to were pleasant, but overall this was not a pleasant experience as we ended up paying double what we had budgeted for. I will not use NU Car again.

I booked a SUV on kayak and when i arrived they where trying to give me a Electric 4 door car i told them and showed them this is not what i booked it took me least 40min after talking to a manger they tried to give me a small SUV and not a full size what I ordered.

No point in asking pre check in only to ask for the same info at the desk. Waiting in line 20 minutes to get car is unacceptable. I was not aware I rented a fully electric vehicle until I got to the desk to check in. After agreeing to that I walked out to garage to have to wait in line again. Came to my turn and no electric vehicle available. I was good with "upgrade" to another vehicle. Overall experience was horrible. I won't rent from dollar again.

The check in process was poor, at best. I was told to go back inside after the kiosk associate told me I was in the wrong to see her first. This was incorrect. I had a contract as a VIP member and the sign posted about check in prior to 11am was correct which it wasn’t. Once I received my car and logged it with SunPass and loaded bags I was denied exit due to a registration issue/given the wrong 3 row SUV. I was asked to drive back, see the same rude woman and get a new SuV. Unload. Load again. Re-register with SunPass. Oh, except this time the car they gave me was the body of a three row SUV without the option ticked for the seats themselves. Lovely, as I needed the seats for my family and not so much for the extra bag space. I left. Made it worked but so aggravating. No more Dollar. Worth spending the extra money for SIXT.

There was a long (2 hours) queue when picking up the car at the airport. When picking up the car it had been cleaned with a very smelly cleaner. The smell did not go away during the entire 3 week rental. The dropping off was easy and fast - so it was totally opposite experience between picking up and dropping off the car. The deposit paid when picking up the car was returned within a few days.

Except for a “Karen” at the front desk, the associates are really kind. The shuttle drivers are great, but there are hidden fees everywhere, and you need to add two hours just to get into their parking lot and wait in a super long line for your car. I don’t recommend this place and won’t use it again.

First of all, you never told me where to pick. I guess I never read the emails, but you never told me where to pick up the car so when I got to Florida airport, I tried to reach out to you and there’s no nowhere to call and it was voice automated is my first time to run from you guys so it be nice to receive a phone call the day before or two days before to tell me where to pick up the car And I thought it was actually gonna be easy to pick up the car at the airport that would be easy, but I am new to renting cars so it would be nice to get feedback but I’m hoping that you guys could reimburse me the $90 for fee but if you can reach out to me, my number is 9175181031. I never got the car so how can I know? I’m not computer savvy on the computer so having to rent with somebody else but going forward I think I know it’s on my part but should’ve reached out to me. I’m renting a car from you pick up and drop off so it’s not nice to know. It’s a 50-50 thing.

Bottom feeders. Swindling every penny they can. And going as lying about the toll roads in order to get me to pay an additional $77 which ended up being 1/3 of the total cost and I didn’t even need to add it to the rental. Very greasy company. And had a thug blocking the exit with a van to check paperwork. Very uncomfortable experience. And the deposit was $500 instead of the $300 that is clearly stated online.

Easy to get to the lot outside the airport. When I arrived at check in, all of the up sale started. Was charged for daily loss of use insurance because I didn’t have that on my personal insurance. They also made it difficult to use my SunPass for the toll roads. Wanted me to purchase theirs for $69/day! That would have been more than the rental. I went to find the car and the attendant said to just hit the key fob to find the car. When I got in, it had an incredibly strong marijuana odor. Car was good; no complaints there. Checkout was excellent; quick and easy. Ended with a quick shuttle to the airport.

The sales representative was pushing for unnecessary insurance and made false and misleading statements to pressure me into purchasing additional coverage despite my existing insurance. He also incorrectly claimed that an out-of-state EZ-pass would not work, which it does. A friend of mine mentioned they experienced a similar issue with this company.

Right Cars in Fort Lauderdale is by far the worst car hire experience that I ever had. Like I said before, Right Cars, Next Car and Zezgo/NU lack of transparency and predatory business practices not only make them unworthy of Kayak Listing but also damage Kayak reputation.

Liars. And I don’t think I’ll use Kayak again either. You pay for the rental before hand only to show up and be told that you have to buy their insurance because your deductible is $500 or greater. That triples the rental cost. I ended up cutting my loses and not taking the rental. Scam scam scam.

NextCar is a huge rip-off: it advertises a cheap rental price, then jacks up the price for add-ons the customer often has no choice but to accept: 1) Florida residents pay MORE, and they don't get "unlimited mileage" (per the advertisement), 2) the rental agency forces the customer to provide ACCESS to their car insurance website (password AND login), or provide the full documents of your auto insurance policy. The auto insurance card won't do: you have to have THE FULL POLICY document with you. 3) If your own insurance has a large deductible, then you HAVE to buy the agency's expensive insurance. The upper limit is $500. Otherwise, they take out $500 from your credit card which they say they'll pay back after 30 days--just long enough to incur a charge of INTEREST on the payment.l 4) If you don't pay the agency in advance for tolls, you can't pay cash at the toll booth. The rental agency toll device will trigger if you drive a toll road, and you'll pay $14 regardless of whether you paid in cash. All of this is "negotiated" when you go pick up your car, and the negotiations can take more than AN HOUR, so wait time and long lines are ridiculously, maddeningly long. It was a horror.

Even with 2 weeks notice they couldn't arrange a regular sized suv for Orlando airport. I booked and paid for it, then got a call the next day saying 'sorry, we don't have that vehicle'. Well your website let me book it. It was a Ford Explorer or equivalent, not something unusual. They hung on to the payment for a week though. I booked with Alamo instead and had a seamless experience.

I rented 2 vehicles online and nothing was listed about not accepting debit cards. When my husband and son arrived, they were told we couldn’t use a debit card. The only credit card we have has a low limit (our choice) and wouldn’t support both rentals after the “hold” fees were added. Avis finally allowed us to use our debit card after making my husband feel like they were doing us an enormous favor. He also had to do all the paperwork again so what was done online was useless. Then they had his name wrong and after pointing it out, she crossed through it and told him to sign. I had purchased the additional insurance online but she insisted that we hadn’t and added it again so now I have to fight that. We also paid for a gps which came with a broken cord which we didn’t know until we were on the road so we had no way to charge it. This was the poorest experience we’ve ever had renting a vehicle and we won’t use Avis again.

Prices were jacked up mich higher than normal. Staff offered me a small SUV over the sedan I originally reserved but it turned out to be a lousy bumpy ride, intolerable at highway speeds due to the vibration at 75mph and greater. On the plus side, it didn't break down

Cleanliness. I had to hit my breaks hard once and trash slid out from under the passenger seat.

Pickup took tom long.need more shuttles instead of waiting 20 minutes to get a shuttle and then a long drive to the pickup location. Was waiting before the gentleman after cut in and the staff didn’t say anything so I had to wait another 15minutes. Then it was my turn and they said I could leave without full coverage which i had to purchase extra. I knew i could use my personal wasn’t asked if i wanted to use that. They said yes you can and they need my ID card with my full declaration page.Couldn’t find my declaration page so they stole $200 dollar for the insurance from me. Never every again

The car itself was fine. Pick up was complicated and delayed, and after waiting more than 30 minutes, I had to call for pick up to the offsite (kind of creepy/ isolated) site. And then we began the haggling- extra “compulsory “ insurance, extra daily charge for tolls, my car insurance not being sufficient. Essentially attempts to quadruple what I expected to be the “total” rental price. It’s such a racquet.

The pricing was utterly "un-transparent". CarRental8.com charged us $277 for the week. But, in the fine print (though without specifying the amount), it turned out that OC Car Rental had other charges -- to the tune of $222 (a $20/day charge for "mandatory supplementary liability insurance" -- despite the fact that I am covered by my regular auto insurance - and a $35 "car rental center fee" and a $25 "enhanced disinfecting cleaning fee" and a $14 "surcharge"). This is truly despicable behavior by a car rental agency, and I do plan to report it to the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.

Our flight was delayed by several hours and we were still in the air at the time of our rental. When we finally landed and got in touch with the company, I was told that my reservation that I had already paid for had been canceled since we hadn't picked up the car on time (due to something completely beyond my control.) Now I'm fighting to even get a refund and we didn't have a car to use on vacation. Run the other direction from this company.
