Cons:unlimited mileage was unclear and had to cancel reservation
Cons:We had reserved a bigger vehicle and ended up with a smaller car and paid more. Our experience was poor!!!!
Pros:The Payless staff were relaxed and friendly. Very professional. The The consolidated car rental facility at San Diego Airport is very well thought out and convenient.
Cons:My car was several years old with a lot of miles (about 60,000) and had a few dents and scratches. This was not a problem except when I returned the car. The car return agent/inspector identified a tiny scratch on the lower fender that was not already noted on the original form I got at pick up. I am confident the scratch was on the car when I picked it up (I know this because I parked in a secure parking space during the entire rental period and it was never left unattended near any other vehicle). Because I had purchased the optional CDW insurance coverage, the disputed scratch was not an issue for me. However, the agent/inspector commented that another driver without CDW would likely have been charged for the scratch even though it was a disputed pre-existing condition. My lesson from this experience is either to get CDW or, if not, to conduct an extremely careful inspection of the entire car and INSIST on making note of even the most insignificant scratches or damage before accepting the vehicle.
Cons:The clerk lied to my face saying that I could not rent the car without purchasing their daily insurance. I verified that my card would or fuse PRIMARY insurance. He gave me some garbage about them being “a private company,” who just doesn’t do that. I checked their terms of service on the site. There is a section that explains the waiver of insurance and liability that comes along with that waiver. Thai was all after waiting an hour in line because this company couldn’t staff more than 1 clerk at 9:30AM.
Cons:Bait and switch. Nothing about third party insurance in the terms and conditions, then at the counter told me they wouldn't accept the third party insurance I bought online. Ended up coerced into super expensive coverage. I will never use them again. Plus, the car was in poor shape and the cheapest model.
Pros:Car comfortable and clean.
Cons:HIGH PRESSURE to upgrade our reserved car BEFORE we even saw it!!!!!!! Online reservation did NOT seem to include some fees and charges. Probably spent more than we had to.
Cons:I get. Price online. Wen at be there in counter. Price. Go high. This is totally un aceptable. Bad. I never. Reserve. Car for pay less in you. Wed site. Kayak
Cons:We booked car for $200 on kayak, they wouldn't give me the car for less than $500 at the counter, so we canceled our reservation and went somewhere else. Very frustrating.
Pros:The staff was friendly but slightly helpless. They did have my reservation but no car! They asked around among the 4 other rental places in the same office and secured a car at SIXT for us at the same price. It all worked out but took about 30 minutes longer than expected.
Pros:Little to like. Payless attempted to fill the SUV reservation with Chevy Trax (sub-compact). Required extra daily fees just to move up and secure Nissan Rogue, which seemed to actually match the originally reserved size / class of vehicle.
Cons:The up-charged Rogue should not have been actively in the Payless fleet. Entertainment console was cracked and not operable via normal touchscreen steps. The front bumper (fender) was completely cracked, including a missing fog light.
