We just returned from a 10 day stay at Secrets Silversands and it was everything we hoped it would be and more. We had a total of 46 people there for the first half of the trip and we stayed the second half alone for our honeymoon. Everyone in our group had a fantastic time and said that the resort was unbelievable. With all of the pools they have it is easy to find what you are looking for, a quiet day away from noise and people or the main pool with a bar and entertainment events/games taking place. All of the restaurants are very good and a few of them are excellent, we particularly enjoyed the Japanese restaurant and their menu. The lunch buffets by the pools are very good and never gave us a reason to try the lunch buffet at the indoors restaurant. The breakfast buffet has everything that you could want and will not disappoint. The thing that made it such a wonderful experience for our entire group was the staff, the waitresses/waiters, entertainment staff, and the wedding planner were nothing short of amazing. They remember your names, they are fun and kind, and they make you feel very welcome. The complaints I have are hardly complaints. The floors in the rooms and hallways are pretty slippery when wet, which is quite often if you are coming from the pool/beach. The hotel had mentioned to us that they are renovating a handful of rooms at a time and trying out new tiles to help with this. As long as you are aware they can be slippery and don't try to sprint around, you'll be just fine. The only thing that bothered us, and it was an isolated issue that I don't hold over the entire resort, was an experience we had with a gentleman at one of the restaurants. On several occasions he was difficult to deal with and not wanting to accommodate groups. We were told before going that there may be an additional charge for dinner groups over 6, which we understood as they are setup to deal with smaller groups and couples. Every restaurant was more than helpful in seating the occasional group of 6-10 and never charged us for it...except for one. One host of a restaurant was determined to charge us for bottles of wine for the table or else our wait but be extended. If we bought wine our tables would be ready almost immediately, if we didn't buy wine it would be an hour. Again, this was an isolated incident and did nothing to dampen our moods...we would simply go to another restaurant and be seated immediately.
Outstanding service and great food made this a relaxing vacation! Excellent beach and plenty of pools to choose from! Nothing!
Great staff always smiling and very attentive. Room was beautiful, food was good as well. Drinks are pretty weak but we figured out a trick. If you order a pina colada, etc just ask for a shot on the side then pour it in the drink. Paying for an all-inclusive resort you expect everything to be all inclusive. Having the staff ask you to upgrade your room, or upgrade for a bottle of wine is unnecessary. Just be prepared to say no multiple times.
We decided to stay at the adults only section of the hotel which was amazing! Our room was ocean front with a balcony and a hot tub on it! The view was amazing! Our room was huge and clean. We had the same staff in and out of our room while we were there for 6 days/5 nights so we were able to get to know them. Alonzo and Margarita were great at keeping the rooms clean and having the beds turned back for us. We had upgraded to the diamond club before we got there and I would definitely do that again! Our butlers Dominquez and Reuben were Amazing!! To help celebrate our 20th anniversary they decorated our room with rose petals and confetti and had the hot tub ready to go for us. When we came back to our room that night there was a bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us. They went above and beyond! They always were checking to see if there was anything else we needed. The food was pretty good and even though we had reservations I don't think we would have waited too long at any of the restaurants. The beach was beautiful! It did have a lot of seaweed but they did try hard to keep it clean but there's only so much they can do. The resort had shows every night and we watched most of them and really enjoyed the variety. The Diva's International were good and the Set the night on fire show was amazing! I would recommend this resort and do plan on going back!
Amazing food Close to the beach Ocean view Gorgeous and large rooms Friendly workers who worked very hard Construction at main pool was loud and annoying Cracks on foundation, I think the resort is sinking?? Mosquitos as it was built in the mangroves
Loved the spa, the room, the food. It was my husband's birthday, and they did so many things to make him feel extra special. He said it was one of his most memorable birthdays. They really went above and beyond. We lov d our spa services from Erika and Joselyn. I didn't like the Timeshare presentation. It ran too long. Truthfully, it ruined my morning. ..we were hoping for bluer ocean.
Waiters waiting for tips and getting mad if they did not get one. High pressure selling of the diamond club.
Beautiful Resort Nice rooms, amenities Great food and drinks On the beach Away from the commotion of Cancun Great Tennis coach. Strangely, the hotel did not publicize the availability of personal tennis lessons. Nice Gym. Unfortunately, the gym/hotel did not sell any protein drinks or powders. At the end of the trip I learned my mosquito bites were bed bug bites, which means I will have to toss my luggage. Butler service was pointless. I could never reach them and they were of no help on check out. The central pool area was being renovated morning till evening for 3 days of the trip. Thankfully I stayed in the Diamond Club and had access to other smaller pools. The tipping situation feels awkward. I'm not sure how to better handle it though. In early the December the beach is so-so since there still was a fair amount of sea grass. The beaches down south were a lot "cleaner" and the water was clearer.
I was actually semi dreading this trip based on past Mexico experiences, but I ended up having an amazing time. The food, room, staff, everything was perfect. Will definitely go back some day. This resort had no control over this...but the ocean was brown from algea! Was not able to spend any time on the beach! They did have a tractor trying to pick it up but there was too much.
Everything was amazing
Everything was amazing pools were beautiful the room was beautiful service was outstanding restaurants were excellent Nothing!
The room was amazing, as well as the rest of the facility. Everything as clean and easily accessible. The staff was helpful and polite. The stars visibility made you never want to leave. The food was just ok at most of the restaurants.
I loved the room, the restaurants, the pools, the beach, and the ambiance. I had a great time with my friends. Everything was easily accessible. The only things I didn't like was the inconsistency of the service. When we ordered drinks it was always a surprise what we would get based on the waiter or waitress taking the order. Some servers were friendlier than others. Also, the Wifi and cell service was VERY bad. If you need to communicate with the outside world, you shouldn't stay there.
The facility and people were generally really good. Very compatible to other resorts my wife and I have bee to in the Riviera Maya. This is our 9th trip to Riviera Maya and I believe when most people say this place is top of line they have not been to to many others. You can go to several other hotels and get 100% of what you want, not 90%. If you like the beach and ocean, then do not go to this resort. Simply horrible! It's a shame because it really is a nice resort but the ocean water is not much better the the New Jersey shore. Very disappointing. You will not even want to go in the water with all the algae and sea weed. If you are strictly a pool person, you will be fine. We will not go back simply due to this issue. We have been to several other resorts in the Riviera Maya that has everything for the same basic price.
Loved everything about the resort except for beach. Lots of seaweed in the ocean that crews tried to clean up throughout the mornings. Water was not clear.
We were there to attend a wedding and the location was great! The beach is very nice if you go away from the area with seaweeds. The rooms are very nice, modern and spacious with jacuzzis and double sinks in the bathrooms. Overall the facilities are nice, the staff is friendly and we had well-coordinated wedding events. Coco Cafe is great, delicious desserts and much better coffee there than in the room or room service! The bar staff works very hard to keep up with the demand for the free cocktails! The spa was nice too and have many coupons and special deals that make it worth it. Non-motorized sports are included which is nice. While rooms are spacious, the lighting in the closet area needs updating especially since the in-room coffee maker is in a barely lit closet. We also lost power for a couple of hours on one day. Room service was consistently late by 15 minutes or so. One day, breakfast room service was delayed due to an issue in the kitchen. Dining experiences in the Mediterranean and Mexican restaurants were really sub-par. Both served cold food. In Cin Cin, grilled salmon came half cold, half warm and the vegetarian dishes ordered by some members of our party were completely cold. In the Mexican restaurant, the fajitas had no sizzle at all, veggie enchiladas were served cold, and when we pointed that out, they were substituted with hot chicken enchiladas, which did not sit well at all with the vegetarians in the party. All in all, the restaurants need a lot of work. In addition to that, we were disappointed that the water sports desk had no fixed time for opening. One morning, we wanted to go kayaking, and the opening time for the desk kept shifting from 9:30AM->10AM->10:30AM. We finally gave up waiting for the desk to be staffed as we had to check out and leave for the airport.
We had our wedding there... it was amazing! Everyone was extremely accomodating. The resort itself is very modern for a place in Cancun with nice bathrooms and more air conditioned areas than most. The food was actually quite good for an all inclusive, something that is rare (usually the all inclusives are quite bland).
Property was undergoing MAJOR construction and renovation when we arrived. I was not expecting to be ambushed with sales pitches the entire time either. They hounded us multiple times to come to their informational presentation so that we could learn about their other properties and the VIP area of the resort. To be honest, that area was not much better than the rest of the property, and the guest staying there still had to eat at the same restaurants and got the same food as the rest of us. It made no sense to pay more for the same mediocre quality services. Food was not impressive. The restaurants showed potential for some good cuisine, but most of the portions were too small or were just not good. The room service menu was disappointing, and the delivery took about 1 hour for each order. The room was also not the cleanest and being in the "tropical" room meant you had a view of power lines and a forest/swamp area in the back of the resort, which also smelled like sewage. I was not nearly as relaxed as I should have been.
The beach and the pools. The room was great! Comfortable beds and nice bedding. Friendly staff. Vary accommodating to our large group. The bartenders were a little rude to our girls. Although I don't think they were tipping.
The pool bar service staff (Polo or Marco) was excellent. The other staff was just OK ... but he made it work for us. Rooms Good. Food Good (Hamburgers GREAT), Pool Good. Wedding coordination seemed to go well for everyone. I like the Hotel Zone but this was a good alternative for us. Beach was just OK but it works. Cleaning the Room seemed to be upon a call to Housekeeping. Location is OK - but improves if you visit Puerto Morales (FUN PLACE).
The pool and grounds are beautiful with attention to small details that make the difference. The staff was always attentive and responsive. The preferred club provided a nice air conditioned location for our family to congregate. Buffet was ok and the sit-down restaurants were good to very good. The buffet and Mexican restaurants can be sweltering hot. We had some mosquito problems in our room. This year there is a terrible seaweed problem all up and down the coast making the beaches undesirable.
Gorgeous location and friendly staff. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an all inclusive Riviera Maya Family Resort in this price range.
Really wish the restaurants were air conditioned, we were uncomfortably at dinner. But we were there during a very hot week.
The resort grounds are beautiful. The architecture and design has a luxurious feel to it all throughout the property. we stayed in the most basic room which is interesting because it was amazing. There are more than 7 restaurants and 4 bars to check out. Everything is included. That they don't include at least one spa treatment like a massage with your stay. I think it would add a nice touch instead of trying to make people spend more money as soon as they check in. I found it to be the only experience that lacked class during our stay. The resort credit compared to other resorts is minimal and their coupons don't cover the cost of any substantial spa treatment or experience.
The staff was amazing, the rooms were very clean, front desk was warm and welcoming. Overall the staff made the experience very enjoyable. The food available during the day was not good at all. The only food worth eating are in the restaurants at night.
Premium liquor. Food quality was above average. Steak night was amazing Staff was nice and attentive Beautiful wedding set ups Construction! Beach had a lot of seaweed in the water despite cleaned multiple time. Bed was hard and uncomfortable Housekeeping didn't replenish towels every day Hotel was a minimum 45 minutes away from excursions. With pickups from other hotels you're at a minimum of 1 hour to 1.5 hours before getting to destination The hotel pushes you to book tours through Amstar, who resells other companies' tours for a huge markup. Too many kids despite being in mid-October. Missing pool tiles
busy place so not everyone feels the way we do nice beach Way to big all the buildings looked the same hard to keep bearings cafeteria food was just ok but messy from people helping themselves waiting in line for food and drinks Fenced in with security at gate. Some call it being secure. I call it like being in a prison Paid more for ocean view to look at trees elevators did not work Lots of background noise from so many people while eating
This is a beautiful, quiet resort that felt very luxurious and peaceful. It was only a short (20 minute) ride from the airport. The service staff were incredible, always helpful, smiling and seemed to be having a good time themselves. Tips weren't expected at all, but bring some, they deserve it! The complimentary "sunset" cruise was fun and a good way to get away for a while and see the area. The food choices were varied for just having a few restaurants, and each had a unique vibe, great food and a view. There was never a wait for any restaurants, but we ate earlier than most. The room was enormous and unique. Honestly, everything looks like the photos, which is pretty rare. :) After an amazing shuttle ride, we were dropped off in the check-in office, we sat there without a greeting or any acknowledgement for a long time. (Some guests ahead of us were having trouble checking in) Problems happen, that's totally understandable, but a simple "Sorry for the wait, go hang outside with a drink and we'll get you when we figure this out" would have saved some frustration. A couple days in, we got a phone call saying we had a "Welcome Package" to pick up... cool! No, no... it was a sales pitch telling us how we basically stayed at the wrong resort for our age group, how we could have received a discount on massages (had she not been off work the day before), and that we should really go tour other resorts (and listen to more sales information). It just felt very slimy for such a high end resort, so... If you get that call, decline, but beware they may find you on the beach or around the resort.
Best beach type resort I ever experienced. Miles away better than the so called resorts on the Cancun strip. Service is outstanding. Staff is clearly well trained to be helpful but not intrusive. Restaurant is award-winning- highly recpmmended. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
My husband & I went here for our honeymoon. It was a beautiful resort, modern (which is what we like) & the staff is VERY friendly & professional. We stayed on the 'Adults only' side. The only critique we would say was there were A LOT of kids. There is only one restaurant on the adults only side, so unless you want to eat seafood the whole trip, the other 8 restaurants allow kids. Highly Recommend! Too many kids!
We visited the Azul Sensatori from Feb 14-22,2009. We chose the resort because it claimed to be good for multigenerational travellers. My husband and I went with our 3 children ages 9,7,and 6 and met his parents there. The actual complex was quite small (we have stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo before which was huge) which did work out well for us due to my father-in-law's arthritis. Our room was nice from a 5 person family perspective - the kids had a kids area and we could close a sliding door for our own privacy. THe room was clean and very modern. We did not have any problems with anything not functioning and the water was always hot when we wanted it. THe maid service was good but they got to our room late in the afternoon and would always forget to replenish my coffee supply (I love my morning coffee!). THe food was satisfactory, again the buffets were much smaller than previous all inclusives I have been to. I guess our major dissapointment was the lack of energy and entertainment going on. There was no activity or even music at the 'activities Pool' during the day. It was generally VERY quiet. Our kids tried the kids club which boasts being for 6-12 year olds and it was mostly preschool aged kids, they rejected that quickly. The beach was pretty, but is on a large reef right offshore, so there is always seeweed washing up with the continual cleanup going on with a tractor. A bummer was also that there are so many rocks in the water it is unswimmable. We did find an area about 300 yards to the north with a nice sandy bottom where we took the kids to swim and snorkel.
WE were here at Christmas 08 and it was new and great. Some glitches of a new hotel but staff quickly fixed any problems. Get the insuite jacuzzi, not the ones outside the room, very nice!!!!! Beach was great and so was the service on the beach. We took our big bubba glasses and drank daquiris in our private covered beds on the beach. We will be back!!
AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING!!! The staff goes above and beyond. Activities everywhere. The property and rooms are very clean. Gorgeous views. Awesome. We had 50 people come for our wedding and could not have been happier and more impressed! We will be back!!!
If you'll look at all the reviews here, everything 3 star and below is from 2009 or previous. My husband and I visited Azul Sensatori in summer 2011 and fall 2012, and were amazed at the atmosphere, food, friendly service, cleanlieness, and overall quality we found there. We love it so much that we're taking our kids with us this fall. We don't feel like trying another resort, because we know the quality and friendliness we'll find here. The staff goes out of their way to say 'Olah' to you, even the gardeners. They are always asking if you need anything, or if you would like to participate in an activity, but there is no pressure if you don't want to participate. We mostly sat and read books by a pool, on the beach, or on our ocean-view balcony the entire vacation. I love the food here... we haven't had a bad meal, but we definitely had our favorites. There is one buffet restaurant that is open from early morning to late at night so you can eat quickly around your activities schedule. Then there are 2 other restaurants open for lunch (burgers/soup/salad and Mexican), and 5 additional restaurants open for dinner (Mexican, Carribean, Italian, Spanish Tapaz, and the adults only gourmet experience restaurant Le Chic). The Tapaz restaurant is our absolute favorite. There is also a bbq lunch (burgers) on the beach a couple days. The beach area is small, but there are plenty of chairs and a handful of beach beds. There is also a little kids playground area, activities hut with beach toys (free) and kayaks (rental tax), and beach volleyball court. It is on a reef, so it is rocky in the water but there's a swimmable area a short walk from the resort. A tractor comes by a couple times a day to clean up the seaweed. Staff come by the chairs offering to bring drinks from the pool bars, and sometimes they come by with trivia questions for everyone to answer. There are several long winding pool areas throughout the resort, with a plethora of pool chairs and...
From the moment you step out of you ride, you are welcomed with a drink. The views are the most beautiful I have ever seen. You are spoiled from being delivered to your room to dining. Room service was prompt, rooms are very clean and well kept.
We visited Azul in July, staff was great, food was good, beach was beautiful but very shallow and rocky. The wait for a table in some of the restaurants was over one hour but usually worth the wait. There was a large selection of adult beverages to choose from but the drinks were very weak. The staff were always trying to get everyone involved around the pool or the beach to play volleyball, water polo or even aerobibcs. Make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen, the sun is strong.
Poor food and basically the same in all their restaurants. Although it has only been open 1 year bathrooms were broken (no toilet seats), bar tops were broken (granite broken off). Front desk will try and charge you for extra's you did not even use, very unethical. Termites in room above shower. Room cleaning service was very late in the day. Wine was awful, prepare to drink beer or cocktails the entire time. Lots of buffets and all the salad food is warm (fruit, 'cold' cuts, greens, dressings). Rooms smell like mold and the AC does not work very well. Overall feel would be much more suited for a college spring break.
Never had a good feeling, lots of bad reviews and renderings, not photos on their web site but oh well, my travel agent said it would be great. A great puplic service would be done to humanity if this place shut down. So you know I'm serious...spent over $900 dollars in Continental airlines change fees to leave this place 3 days earlier than planned. It was worth every penny, (the change fee). The whole experience was a kind of smoke and mirror experience. We could not believe that everything from the room, the plumbing, the on going, non stop construction and the noise it made and what they call food. They use the word gormet in their promotional material but I can assure you that word has not crept into the kitchen. Have been to mexico many times, the weather and the wonderful Mexican people were just not enough. So if you must...................... GO, YOU TOO WILL BANGING OUT REVIEWS SIMILAR TO MINE.
Hotel lives up to the Karisma pledges of sustainability, customer service and excellent food. Well trained staff provides excellent service. Current renovations of some floors show willingness to invest in quality. Entertainment good, Crafts vendors Thursday nights quite good. Watch out for the ATM bandit in the lobby - $16.96 for $100 (plus bank network charge). Front desk needs to take on cash function if they don't want to damage their brand with a bandit partner. Definitely worth returning.
we stayed there from 26/12/09 till 09/01/10 DONT GO,this is not value for money, staff good, hotel very bad,it looks as if it has been there fo 20 years, food bad,but i found the cornflakes ok.this is the worst holiday i have had in 35 years,if you are booked to go please do your self a favour and go somewhere else, ANYWHERE.IF YOU DONT BELIVE ME I CAN SEND YOU SOME PICS, email me.
This is a great hotel. You'll be pampered from your arrival. They'll make everything to make you happy, so that you have a great stay. I don't really understand the reviews that have been written here, they say this hotel is awful... I can really say it is not true. Great food, great bedrooms, great outdoors... Totally recommended!!!!
We attended a family wedding and spent a few extra days at this beautiful resort. The staff was absolutely accommodating in every way. We had a few room glitches with unavoidable plumbing issues that were taken care of within 10 mins of calling the front desk. The food at all restaurants was fresh, well prepared and very good. The one memorable meal was at Le Chique, molecular cooking, served in small portions and it was fabulous. Make your reservation as soon as you get there for a wonderful, romantic dining experience. The only small negative was the waitstaff at times was slow. Be sure you're not starving before you go for a sit down meal at one of the dinner only restaurants....it could take about an hour to get your main course. BUT - the staff itself was friendly and food was terrific. The house wines were decent also - no 'swill'! LOL The swim up bars - great. Games in the afternoon, good drinks and plenty of chairs, cabanas, towels, umbrellas on the beach, nice chairs - if you want a beachside cabana, get up early. You are in the middle of nowhere though. We never left the property, but were happy there with the amenities, gym, spa, restaurants and pools. Adult only pools made it nice and peaceful if you don't want the little ones around. The kid pool was adorable though with a kids club. Highly recommend this property. The wedding itself was a highlight and well run from start to finish. Loved our vacation!
