The Carr rental place decided to close early on Friday so I wasn't able to get my car rental. Had to end up calling Enterprise who sent me to another location that had NO CARS. I ended up having to drive to an airport location and ended up paying more.

Pros:

The staff weren’t helpful at all. The location my reservation was booked was closed due to covid. There wasn’t anybody I could reach by phone. There was a sign on the door saying to go to another location. By the time I arrived, and waiting in line, they said they booked me as a no show. Again, no phone answers, poor customer service, when I asked for help with other locations that can get my rental, they told me to google it.

Cons:

Every single aspect of that experience could have been better.

The worst ever wanted a five hundred dollar deposit after I returned the car and wanted to renew it. There was always surprise charges.. I will never go to Hertz Rent-A-Car again, and I will always let people know to go elsewhere.

The Riverside, CA staff were rude and rented me an older, dirty SUV with body damage. I dropped the vehicle off in Hurst, TX where the staff were friendly, but I had to wait over an hour to just return the keys. There were no additional fees, which was the one thing that matched my expectations.

Disgustingly wreaked of cigarette smoke & the Budget rep would not oblige us with a different rental although sprayed the car with febreeze for us. We bought Heavy Duty febreeze spray & febreeze vent inserts after leaving the car doors open for two days to air out..the smoke smell was still there. ironically there was a no smoking sign on the passanger window.

Super easy pickup and drop off in Punta Gorda. However, the truck we rented had the tint removed but not the adhesive. The windows were super sticky to the touch and would barely go down and getting them back up was a half hour task. ALWAYS check ALL window operations before driving away with your car!! Upon return, no one really cared but some manager gave us a discount as long as we promised to give a 5 star review when Alamo sent a survey!! Is that bribery??

Convenient location in an older building along with a fuel station and a car wash. the rental agent was very cordial and showed me the return location (was confusing) as the building driveway had tight clearances. Return equally easy since I understood where to go. Were given a cute Citroen C3 with a six speed manual trans which was comfortable, fun to drive, and offered plenty of space for the two of us. Five gold stars!

The airport made it very self explanatory to get the car back with white letters on the road to direct you back to the rental car return. Made me smile. Payless has great customer service for the situation we were out in. The insurance prices are crazy but at the end of the day it wasn’t Payless fault. This is a country requirement that we did understand prior to booking. The pick up was easy and Luis was great!! Drop off was simple as well and super friendly. Car was cleaned when we picked up and that was appreciated.

The check-in process took forever. It was a large line and at the beginning the attendance. Chatting among each other, Delaying the process. Finally, a young man came in. And checked in as many people as the previous to attendance did together. I’ve been to this car rental before, and it brought a memory of the last time we experience the same thing. Very frustrating.

I prepaid for my car only to get to the counter and wait for just under an hour. Once assigned a car, I again waited because I was then told my car was double booked. I finally got a car, and it was a great car. However, after turning it in on time I was charged for 3 additional days because they had me down as driving a completely different car. Definitely will Pay More next time and rent from someone else.

Getting from baggage claim to Payless terminal had to stand in long lines to get on the bus. The customer service agent was very nice and friendly. We ended up getting an electric car, but never told us about what charging stations we could use being not familiar with that type of electric car and where the charging stations were a big problem wasted a lot of time during our driving experience, trying to find chargers that would work.

Payless always comes through, the pickup and dropoff process is fast and easy never any issue.. The payless cars are very updated and reliable, the price is always affordable and the deposit is always given back as soon as you drop it off, no extra charges or fees.. I highly recommend them, been using them for the past 3 yrs everytime i travel and not 1 issue..
