The price was absolutely extortionate. I paid $750 for the rental in July, which was supposed to be fully paid, and when I arrived to pick up the car, I had all my insurance documents on hand, they charged me another €450, then after that, my choices were, pay €6000 deposit, which I never was made aware of and did not have, or lose the money I already paid, or pay another $1650. These were horrible options at 5am. The car that I thought was going to cost $750, actually cost me $2800. I will never rent a car through Kayak or Sixt again in my life. A disgraceful way to treat travellers coming to visit a country. Ruined my vacation and stripped me of all my spending money for my vacation.Reviewed Jan 6 2025

The car was good, as usual the windows and mirrors were NOT clean. The signage at the airport for the return is very poor.Reviewed Sep 8 2024

No issues with SIXT itself. I see now that Kayak charged me for 13 days of rental when I only booked the car for 12 days. Also, even though I provided information on both drivers, SIXT was only provided the data on the secondary driver which delayed pickup and risked causing me to have additional charges. SIXT staff at Dublin airport were absolutely fantastic and did everything they could to ensure I avoided any additional charges due to Kayak’s errors.Reviewed Jul 22 2024

The car had a pretty severe dent on the side when we went up to get it. The attendants do not accompany you to the car so there was no way to switch to an intact car. It was an uncomfortable ride, but we managed well. The attendants were very kind. The wait to pick up the car was a bit insane. A line was out the door and hugged the lane of car park traffic coming in. Pretty dangerous. All in all an okay experience. The guys there need a raise for the amount of traffic and business they get.Reviewed Jun 30 2024

The car was great. No problems at all, except I had some difficulty with changing lanes, as I couldn't see out the side/back window well. I liked the friendly, no pressure, but efficient staff. A free coffee was a nice touch too.Reviewed Jun 8 2024

Pickup and drop off were easy. But they mistakenly charged me in-terminal drop off fee that shouldn’t be charged if I dropped the car at their office outside terminal. They also changed unidentified small money, $4.56, without explanation through the email. It will be settled but I’m a little annoyed.Reviewed Mar 13 2024

Top tips for renting a car from Sixt in Dublin

  • There are roughly four SIXT branches in Dublin: one at Dublin Airport (DUB) and three in the city. One of the most popular locations to get a car hire from is the airport, especially if you’re travelling to Dublin by plane. Whilst Dublin has a good transportation network, a hire car offers more flexibility for your journey, as you aren’t reliant on the bus timetables or taxis. The airport branch also provides a greater selection of cars compared to the branches in the city and has some great reviews for customer service.
  • There are lots of places to park your SIXT car in Dublin, most of which come at a cost. For example, you can park at the Q-Park Grand Canal Square in the city centre. The cost of this is about € 5.50 (A$ 8.50) for one hour. There are also pay-and-display street parking bays in Dublin. The cost of this depends on the zone you’re parking in. The cheaper zone costs about € 0.80 (A$ 1.25) per hour. The street bays usually charge from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm between Monday and Saturday and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sundays. Outside of these hours, it’s typically free to park.
  • You must ensure you’re familiar with the road laws when you get a SIXT hire car in Dublin. For instance, everyone needs to wear their seat belt at all times and children that weigh less than 36 kg or who are smaller than 150 cm must be in a booster seat. Mobile phone use is permitted when driving provided you are using a hands-free system. Drink driving is taken very seriously, so you should avoid the consumption of alcohol well before driving. If you’re found to be over the legal limit, you will be prosecuted.
  • It’s possible to have a one-way hire when you get a SIXT hire car in Dublin, so you can drop your vehicle off at another branch at the airport or in the city. Alternatively, you can also return your car to a SIXT branch in another Irish city. You will be required to pay a surcharge for this, which depends on the length of your hire period, the vehicle type and the location to which you are returning the vehicle.
  • 25% of our users found rental cars from Sixt in Dublin for $44 or less.
  • Book your rental car from Sixt in Dublin at least 6 days before your trip in order to get a below-average price.
  • Economy rental cars from Sixt in Dublin are around 76% cheaper than other car types, on average.
