Beautiful ambiance in historical building, great food and particulrly enjoyed breakfast.
The quality of the staff in the foyer lunch?coffee area. The room smelt a little of smoke. The ice was delivered to the room when we were out for the evening and had melted by the time we had returned - and wanted to use it.
the location to the city was peaceful ,clean the buffet was great the staff very pleasant and parking facilities I would like a better in room fridge although the ice bucket was great
The location is perfect. We did not have access to the upper terrace with a view.
Room comfit and cleanliness. Proximity to tourist sights and transport.
The concierge was excellent. Gym is small
We really loved everything until our problem at the checkout. We had requested a car to the airport to be scheduled. We stopped at the luggage arrival desk the day before. It was written down but i think no one ever called the car service. There were 4 of us with large luggage so my son had to run down the ramp into the street to flag down 2 taxis..... The international terminal airport was VERY busy and we came close to arriving too late for our flight
friendliness, comfort,location price
the location is amazing. overall a great experience and would recommend it to friends and family! the bedrooms are beautiful the bathrooms could be bigger and more modern otherwise it was amazing.
The room was spotless and cleaners did a good job every day. All staff went "the extra bit" to make you welcome and were very helpful. Especially when my wife became ill and had to leave. My car was parked for 6 days and received a ding in the door which I didn't find untill I returned home.
The room was presented beautifully, and maintained during our stay. Staff were very helpful and friendly
Everything, especially the concierge service. I think the hotel should make wifi more easily available.
Clean, nice rooms , good facilities , great location
very neat and fairly large rooms. the park view is beautiful. initially we were in a 'park view' room which did not face the park at all. you have to crane your neck out of the window to see the park. this should not be sold as park view. staff were happy to move us to a front facing room with beautiful view.
things were acceptable for what i needed, there was nothing there that made me happy i stayed there rather than some place else. for a "5 star" hotel it was missing quite a bit. no spa, no pool, restuarants were really just bars with some tables. the staff was a bit snooty. everything in the room and hotel are for sale, and pretty much makes you feel like you are sleeping in an ikea catalog.
Bed was comfortable. A/C in good working order. Nice size bathroom. Appreciated the toiletries, the fridge, the safe. Excellent lighting both in room and bathroom. It was a bit disconcerting to find hairs in the tub after the room was cleaned.. The desk chair could use refurbishing.
The location, the luxurious setting, drinks at the lounge and the most comfortable bed ever - what's not to like?!
Rooms were very nice as were they lobby and bar You need better wifi access and it should be considered a basic service that you provide
This hotel was comfortable and elegant. Staying over new years they gave us free champagne. However parking was overpriced for what we paid for the hotel.
Hotel lobby! Terrible breakfast! no restuarant in the hotel! no swimming pool!
The location was excellent. Very close to all the tourist attractions and to the cities history.Service was good.
First class ,5 star rate but better Location on Phillip St. within easy walking distance to all attractions - shopping to sightseeing this hotel must be in the top 5 quality hotel in Sydney. No
There were loud noises in the morning from the room above and when I called the front desk on multiple occasions I couldn't get an answer, then received a rude explanation that it would be investigated but the noise contributed. After a $2,000 stay, I left a file and was charged to have it mailed to me. I wouldn't recommend the hotel for ease of stay, but it is clean.
I liked the central location of the hotel and the staff were friendly and warm. I found it rather surprising that internet was not complimentary as it is a 5-star hotel. The last time I visited Sydney I stayed at Raddison's which I believe is a 4-star hotel and found the stay there on par with Sofitel, a 5-star hotel.
Very friendly staff, ideal position, excellent facilities. Enjoyed stay immensly and the staff could not have been more helpful.
Convenient location. Nice staff. City view room nothing special. Probably worth paying the extra for "Harbour View".
Helpful staff, especially concierge. Spacious double room with excellent shower in bathroom. Sometimes difficult to speak to reception staff due to queues of people booking in or checking out etc. Charge for use of PCs rather excessive.
I liked the late checkout I did not like the 2 single beds pushed toghether
Lovation Super slow internet. Poor tv selection. Very noisy, poor insulation from other rooms, particularly the hallway. Little parking, expensive. Does not feel like a four star hotel at all. Some staff will great you, others pretend like you don't exist. Would not stay here again, even if it were offered for free.
close to where we were going out, rooms are a good size.
i did not like the checking time at 3.00 pm that is to late.
This hotel was clean and comfortable. We got a free upgrade to a Harbour View room, which is probably worth the extra cost. Pleasant 20+ minute walk to CBD/tourist sites. Nice and affordable restaruants south of William Street on Crown Street (Thai and Italian). There is a good local bar across from the Bayview called the Strand Hotel, and also one a block north on Crown called the East Sydney Hotel. FYI our cab rides were Airport $37, Bondi Beach $25 (take bus or subway/bus), downtown $7-9.
25th floor restaurant - fabulous meal, stunning views, excellent service. Room was fantastic, really quiet, great shower and comfy beds, very spacious.
Great location to the tram, food and Hyde park and all other attractions.
Its a good location at the Cross and a 5 min walk to the heart of the City. The Rooms a clean and crisp with up to date equipment (Flatscreen TV, Iron ect.)
Comfortable room. Good in house dining facilities after an exhausting day with medicos. Pleasant place to unwind and discuss issues even at a late hour for eating, 9pm. Value for money. If we have further medical issues in the Darlinghurst / Potts Point area we would stay at the Holiday Inn again.
The comfortable bed and pillow selection. The bathroom facilities were bigger than usual and relaxing. The parking spaces were too small, and a little too close to the red light district for my liking.
Due to its handy location for me I always try to stay here as a first choice but "only if I can get it booked at the right price.t". The staff are great and attentive As I've always found them to be. Buffet breakfast is good also. The roms I stay in are nothing much to brag about, a bit on the smallish side for me. If it's a four star hotel I'd have to say the rooms are only three star. Security in this hotel is good also. it's great and handy for the Airport Shuttle to pick you up on the way to the airport. Matter of fact, this hotel is a favorite for a lot of airline crews. Probably because of that. Room sizes are a bit small for my liking but hey, this is Sydney where it's hard to find a decent hotel room nowadays for under $200 a night. In comparison to what else is on offer, the Holiday Inn Potts Point is a good hotel in a good location.
Efficiency of checking in and out. Location for business, shopping and dining. Ability to park vehicle.
Seemed new and clean
Good location and very helpful staff nice overall hotel. I didn't have any negative experiences.
Easy access & central city location. A good clean property & I liked the fact it is a small sized, boutique property. The one bedroom apartment was just perfect for business & well sized in the overall layout. Would definately recommend & use again
It's central City location and the helpfulness of the staff
The studio was very confortable and big. The location in the city heart Specific location: Husking pl is a very ugly little street.
Convenience to Sydney CBD makes it ideal for national & international tourists and business people. Kitchen and Laundry facilities were a bonus.
The self contained apartments were fantastic. Very comfortable, large and well appointed. Has everything that you will need including own mini laundry (in what looks like a linen cupboard). They appear to be very new. Everything was spotless including furniture, fixtures, carpet etc. Very secure with swipe cards to get in and out. We are always wary about booking sight unseen - but this was lovely There are no views. The hotel is in a little alley - so no foyer or anything. Not very well signed for new guests. Everything is secured by swipe cards and pin numbers so getting into the hotel for the first time to check in isn't laid out in front of you.
We stayed 9 days at Medina Martin Place and we absolutely loved it. We had the best sleep, the bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept on and the blanket was super yummy too. The location is perfect for CBD or exploring the city. The apartment had all possible facilities we needed. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, Warren and Mimi in particular. Highly recommended. Cleaning is up for some improvement. Garbage and towels were taken care of on a daily/ when required basis, but the carpeted floor was quite filthy at the end of our 9 day stay and glass surfaces of furniture were pretty dirty too. Also, our CD player was so old (or substandard?), it couldn't play even brand new CDs.
Fully fitted kitchen and washign facilities make it the easiest way to manage yourself in such a busy city. An excellent stop with an ideal location for the centre as well as metro and bus routes
Staff were very helpful & location was excellent The hotel never got my booking from booking.com which was a little stressful but they managed to find me a room. On the upside the staff fixed the problem quite quickly.
The owners and staff are all extremely helpful. The house is beautiful and in a wonderful location - far enough from the city center to have a great neighborhood feel, but close enough to make all touring quite easy. Although I think they view themselves as a luxury B&B, it is time for a bit of an update. In particular, the bathroom could use a remodel.
The walk trough the botanical garden closed by. And the help from Keith to find all the nice corners and spots in Sidney. Some rooms are very dark.
Beautiful old historic home turned B and B. Good service, good food, great room. Loved it.
Charming building conveniently placed with very attentive staff Parking difficult
The owners took personal interest in the clients. The room was ready ahead of time and their information with maps and brochures was excellent. They offered free wi-fi which was also a big help with airline reservations and e-mail home to the US! Thank you
The whole experience was totally fantastic - beautiful place to stay in every aspect. The towels weren't as big as I'd like!
wonderful hotel, run by a lovely couple and their staff. nothing was too much trouble for them, they helped plan trips, gave recommendations on places to eat and were extremely attentive, they made your holiday as relaxing as they could I would recomment Simpsons Hotel to anyone no
Ree, the "innkeeper," offered every bit of support that we could have asked for on our 1st visit to Sydney...the neighborhood is pretty and hip and offers some great eateries, particularly, Fratelli Fresh. We enjoyed our stay very much. Some people might call the decor "elegant," but I call it "fusty;" the public rooms are creaky and Gothic in an unappealing way. However, everything worked...no issues with maintenance. Weirdly, I was unhappy to be awakened at 6 AM by a local bunch of squawking cockatoos...who knew? I would have liked to sleep until 8.
the staff were very friendly, and took a genuine interest to your stay, the building was superb and the rooms were very well kept
This boutique hotel is located in a restored house built in 1892. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and the hotel has amazing character and charm. Our room on the first floor had a private outdoor sitting area where we enjoyed a complimentary glass of Port and sherry provided when we arrived. The room was charming and clean, the bed comfortable, and the full breakfast provided was delicious. We would definitely stay here again, and have recommended it to our friends and family.
Friendliness, helpfulness and flexibility of the stay our room had no windows
This is a quiet, clean, comfortable, hospitable and reasonably priced private hotel in an interesting neighbourhood within a short walk of the NSW Art Gallery and NSW State Library and the Botanical Gardens. There are several good pubs within short staggering distance, as well as Harry's Cafe de Wheels, one of Sydney's top outdoor restaurants. The nearby waterfront is also interesting to visit and to contemplate while eating one of Harry's pies with mushy peas. A nice place to stay if visiting Sydney for a few days for pleasure or business. Your breakfast is self-service and as generous as you like. The main failing of this hotel is that the reception desk is only staffed for limited hours. You are advised to check in before 6 or 7pm, as there are extra fees and uncertainties about late check in. You need also to be self-reliant after 7pm until 7:30am as there is no service as such at the hotel over those hours. You will be given a front door key. For myself this has never been a problem over several stays over several years. This is the situation in many small private hotels.
It was quiet enough for me to rest, and I like to stay in a hotel that isn't part of a chain / mulitnational corp. No complaints really - I did really need breakfast at 7am (had to leave at 7.30) and hot food wasn't available, so I had muesli. But it certainly didn't ruin my day.
central to many tourists sights
The gentleman that booked us in was one of a kind, he went way out of his way to direct us to the motel and was most caring.
The staff were so friendly and helpful! It was nice that your name was remembered.
Ideal location, Friendly, Excellent value for money
Proximity to the CBD. Access to secure parking. Avoiding the Police RBT by staying in the hotel.
Clean, exceeded my expectations as a budget hotel, brekky was great. Close to transport, staff were very helpful. I would certainly stay again.
The way an old Sailors' Home had been transformed into a very modern and comfortable hotel. The reception closes at 6pm. We were delayed and did not have access to a phone to arrange a delayed check in and were nearly excluded for the night.
Location in Potts Point close to the weekend market Its not really an apartment. Kitchen facilties rudimentary at best. Hotel room with a microwave would be a better discripition
Great location and being able to park the car no
We found the apartment clean, well appointed and comfortable, and as advertised. The on site parking was a plus for us. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. No complaints except cost - but think we struck an expensive weekend.
The staff as usual were outstanding
Very good client service from all staff on the desk, the cleaning staff and everyone involved with the hotel.
The view was outstanding. The noise from the street was appalling and we hardly slept all night . We found that the advertisement as serviced apartment was misleading; it was nothing like an apartment. I note that renovations are proceeding ; which will improve the appearance. It looked tired and old.
The location was good and the views were superb. When booking a serviced apartment, I did expect a bit more than a normal hotel room. The only extra this 'apartment' had was a 3 foot long counter which they had the cheek to call a kitchen. There were a few kitchen appliances provided but space was so limited that we could only get one of them on the miniscule counter at a time! There was not even a proper armchair for my wife and myself.
We had a good time while staying at the hotel, it was close to the things we wished to see, very helpful staff pointed us in the right direction. A little dated in some areas.
the location was great, close to everywhere, staff attentive, would recommend and stay there again myself no proper smoking area
staff was excellent
Great walk into city
It was very quiet, central location, had a nice view. no change of bedding during my stay of 4 nights
Matter of fact service
It was in a beautiful part of the city--apartment houses and hotels, big trees--with restaurants, shopping, atm and bus right close by. And the staff at the desk was very friendly. The room was tiny! But still a good value. We had a fan and a heater, an electric water pot for coffee, dishes, and a bathroom to ourselves, the bed was comfortable, and the place was very quiet.
the staff. I think the guy's name was Russell?? very friendly and professional.. the stairs, and no air conditioning
Central to pots point kings cross, friendly staff, convenient to transport, trains, walking distance to attractions. Noisy on second night,
It was at walking distance from king cross railway station. I came to know there by taxi and bus drivers about the notority of area in terms of Brotheals and nigt clubs which being a muslim I did not prefered, but had no choice and time to change.
the location and the easy access to the travel network no it realyy is a great place to stay whilst in Sydney
Challis Lodge was more than adequate for our family for a short stay. Our room was clean and comfortable and the Lodge is within easy walking distance to Kings Cross and very close to bus stops etc. We loved the character of the building etc. We were a bit daunted by the flights of stairs, (Our room was on the top floor) as we arrived in the evening and had several suitcases to lug up the stairs. However this was quickly forgotten and we enjoyed our stay
Nothing the room was dirty, had to ask for clean towels, no service what so ever. We stayed there 6 nights and the room was never cleaned, even not after asking for it. This hotel looks fantastic on the outside, the location is perfect but the service is absolutely crap and dirty!! See above
address，environment of outside tiny, tiny. I have been here 2days but only one day stuff for bath.
Near to the Railway station, shops etc. Internet connection provided at concession rates. The ensuite ( bathroom & toilet) was very small. Could not even turn around while bathing. Could not enjoy bathing.
Location is excellent, close to transport, shopping, entertainment, restaurants. There is a small cafe at front of hotel (separate business) with excellent coffee. Night time noise is very bad. Other guests slamming doors, noise of arguments and sexual activity went on till early hours of morning over 2 nights. Noise from room on upper floor above our room ++++.
It is not mention on the web site that the room gets cleaned every 3 days only. Not that I have a problem with it, however, I think this should be made clear from the beginning.
I think you should say whether the room that someone is going to get or is available does not have a view - mine looked straight into another room across the central 'well' of the buidling - yuk! Also the hotel was very noisy at night - so much for being advertised as a quiet place!
Not much The room is too small
The location and price, easy access to trains and Kings Cross
we were suprise it was so convenient such as near King Cross Station ) & food ( like fish market/convenient store & numerous cafe ) there is nothing to complaint with such value for money accommodation
Location Not Clean, Very poor bathroom facility
quite near to centre of kings cross, outside well renovated. no cleaning of the room for 4 days, room quite dark since window to a smll and narrow court. one of the light bulbs missing. no shampoo in shower. At arrival door of shower out of rails, I repaired it. Staff at reception seemd to be not very competent, took long timt to check in, buying internet access took also long time, complicate process.
The hotel was close to Opera House and city shopping. It was a very quiet hotel which we appreciated. The breakfast menu was a bit restricted. We would have liked just cooked eggs rather than having to order the continental breakfast and eggs.
The location is very central, walk to everything. Very clean and friendly and helpful staff. Secure card opperated elevator. Because of the business area many cafes and restaurants are closed on Sundays. No ramp up to registration desk.
excellent location and room was spot on. the lounge bar and thai restaurant on 1st floor was closed for 4 days over easter holiday weekend.we were only there for 4 days.also breakfast was a bit disapointing.expensive for what we received.had to pay extra for a sausage.
The vicinity, the facilities in the room were very good but found the dining facilities to be less than a high standard and closed relatively early. Rather noisy (not the airconditioning) and didn't figure out what it was. Perhaps the location to the service lift ? No.
Fantastic location and price. Everything we wanted was within walking distance, for our first stay in Sydney it was perfect.
Good location between two major railway stations, very close to main attractions and George street, functional clean room, fair price.
Great location for the price, clean facilities, and knowledgeable staff No room service, had to order in from an outside restaurant guide.
location was great - close to all we wanted to see and do
The quiet room (9th floor), the facilities.
Proximity to places I needed to visit. Easy access to shops and favourite Sydney spots. Very neat and clean The bistro is not available around the clock. I believe the outside notice on the wall of the bistro entry may be misleading.
The staff were very helpful and the location was ideal.
